I had a blank stare on my face because it took a moment for it to settle in that he assumes all African Americans drink Hennessy or Ciroc. So i gave him the benefit of the doubt until he became a 'salesman/spokesperson' for Hennessy with random hip-hop references and poorly generated slang. I told him I have zero desire for either as I drink scotch. He then attempted to sell me cheap scotch and claim it was a best seller.. along with a 2-3x markup. Sidenote I am an avid scotch drinker and belong to multiple scotch based organizations. It was also weird because I could not browse by myself as this terrible cashier/salesman was close enough the entire time to make it look like we were walking down the isle at a wedding. Getting a sense that this place feels sketchy I went over to the wine and found a familiar bottle of wine with a price on it and said this is all I want and left quickly. I don't know why he would think that a high-level African American computer engineer from Boston would walk in the liquor store with boat shoes on would like to buy Hennessey but there are plenty of things about racial profiling that I would never understand. Profiling aside please shut this place down with their volatile on the spot pricing.

They have a nice selection of Italian, Sicilian and organic wines that you won't find in other wine shops. Also a selection of better wines from the North Fork. Make sure you get on the email list for special events. I went to the rose tasting and Italian tasting and enjoyed each event and the selection of wines. Prices are fair for the quality of wines selected. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Another bonus the owner hosts wine tours in Europe.

They are in Southold, a further east town out there.. and on the more northern road, County Rd. 48, faster traffic than the more southerly Main Rd running east (which is better for villages). So slow down on Rt 48 to pull in to a small shopping strip. I've been stopping in since the summer and back at least 5 times. The people are friendly and have generously taken time to point out good wine choices. They seem to have a real grasp of what to recommend. And a few good volume buys at the front often. They sent me out with some french Pinot Noir that was a low price and high quality, everyone loved it and I went back and picked up more. They directed to a few North Fork choices, pointing out a popular vineyard that has been known for specializing in a few wines some more well regarded than others. They gave me inside tips for two of the better wines in the east end section. Gave them at Holiday time and went over well. Also, they pointed out some interesting Portuguese wines that also were gone in nano seconds in the summer. Some nice Italian Pinot Grigio, and some really surprisingly good Merlot. The surefire choice for company is always a good chardonnay, and they have some nice French or Local even better ones. They are priced well and do a 20% off for a case. Time to go shopping and bring some nice east end wines from here.

If I stop in, the staff is always welcoming and eager to lug a case or two out to my car. Grocery store typically charge a $10 delivery fee if they deliver to the island at all, and there aren't many who do! The staff, selection, and prices are wonderful! I love to shop by price range as that, unfortunately, is necessary but made so pleasant by you folks!
