Green's Cafe is a nice little home-town eatery. They are located in downtown Jennings just a block off of Main Street. The main attraction for me is the plate lunches! Each day these feature a choice of one of two entrees, a starch, and two veggies. They have a rotating menu that is distributed locally. There is even a drive through for pick up. If you want to order something else, there are great sandwiches, burgers, salads, and some seafood specials. Nothing is very fancy, but everything is really good and filling. I stopped by Green's for lunch today, and I'd say it got the job done, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again. The presentation of the meal was nice. I ordered the daily special: pork tips with mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, sweet tea, and chips on the side. The pork tips over rice were tender and flavorful, but there was a little too much gravy. An extra half scoop of rice would have balanced the dish much better. With just a little more seasoning or spice, the pork tips would have been top-tier. The mac and cheese wasn't my favorite. It appeared to have eggs in it, and the black pepper flavor was a bit stronger than I prefer. I think a touch of cayenne would have given it a better kick. The black-eyed peas were good, although I personally think white beans would have paired better with the meal. The sweet tea was excellent, and the service was one of the highlights. The person at the counter was friendly, respectful, and welcoming, and my food came out quickly. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a local mom-and-pop lunch spot; simple, relaxed, and perfect for a quick bite. Overall, Green's is a solid place to grab lunch if you're already in the area. I'll stop by again when I'm in town, but it's probably not a place I'd take a special exit off the highway just to visit. read more

Went to this Cafe and placed an order to go. I'd have to say it was not exactly what I was expecting. After delivering me my takeout order they did not inform me that I had to go and pickup my plastic utensils. One of my orders was a half fish, half shrimp plate. Fish, shrimp and French fries was pretty good but they put cheese on the salad and closed the lid. When I open the lid the cheese was melted all over the salad resulting in a big glob of a mess. My second order was a shrimp po-boy and French fries. I found a soggy torpedo bun and no French fries. I must say the shrimp alone was pretty good. I would like to think eating at this place would be better than their take out. read more

I wanted to really like this little family cafe, but it was a bit disappointing. There isn't any table service, so you place your order at the counter. And since there isn't any table service, it's like your typical fast food joint that rarely bothers to wipe off and clean the tables. Which could have happened after we were there, since the lunch rush was over. We ordered burgers because they said they had 1/2 pound burgers. The burger wasn't anything special. The standard menu is tiny, and consists of a couple salads, a burger, and some po-boys. Quality is good. There is plenty of space. And the food comes quick. The absolute best burger on delicious jalapeño bun with pepper jack cheese and all the fixin's! And super sweet people! It's a small, locally owned hometown cafe off the beaten path, but worth it! Some may say that the burger is pricey, but I definitely feel that it is worth it! They also offer delicious plate lunches. read more

Visited this past April and was amazed by the deliciousness of the food. I ordered a half and half Po Boy. The shrimp was plump and juicy and the chicken was delicious. The prices were excellent. Everything was so good my sister and I stopped by on our way back to Houston. read more
