Really awesome LGS (local game store) ! We went here for the Chaos Rising pre-release event on…read moreSaturday (my first time for a pre-release, and our first time here). Everything was well organized and the turnout was pretty good. There were two groups, one for juniors and one for (young) adults, for fairness. Another thing I liked was that everyone got 3 extra packs instead of awarding it based on wins, given we're playing with pre-con decks + 4 packs that are all random. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, shout-out to Bryan (the general manager?) and the official judge for the event. Plus I had a great conversation with him and Michael(?) about MTG; they're definitely very passionate about board & card games. They have anti-scalping policies in place for Pokemon. As for the space itself, decent amount of parking (more in the back). They're very popular for Warhammer, so there's a ton of product for those who play, and several tables set-up with many people playing all afternoon next to us (the 'playing hall' is pretty large!). They also have an aisle with board games for sale, and a counter with TCG products. Restrooms are spacious and clean. All in all, The Forge is pretty much all you can ask for in a LGS; they're also independently owned! I wish I live closer, but I'll definitely be here again soon!

There was one gacha toy I really wanted but the whole thing was sold out- I spotted the figurine I wanted in the display case and asked if I could buy it. The owner then opened up the case and said, "since it's a gacha you still have to spin" and placed it in the spot to come out next! He was super kind and I am hoping for his success!

The community is very open and inviting (and you don't have to worry about Gamer Funk...if you smell what I mean lol). The community at this store is non-cliquey, unlike most stores in Houston. Meaning, if you don't play game A or B, then you are ignored. Not at Board and Brew; they are welcoming for everyone and the crowd regularly try each others games out. Been here for 11 years and this is by far the highest quality community and staff.

I loved the whole vibe and feel the store had. The play area was just about the right size--not too big, not too small. It felt like the area could comfortably seat 8, maybe 10 Commander pods of 4 players. It felt cozy, like I was in my teens again playing some TCGs at a friend's house. The player base also seemed pretty nice from the people I got to interact with. I didn't really get to change up pods much, but that's more on me than a reflection of the store or its player base due to deck tweaking after a few good rounds. They did seem like they had a healthy little cEDH playgroup there too. Also, at one point, they handed out a free promo card, and I got a Retro Frame Syr Konrad, which was neat! And man, one thing I never even thought about judging a card shop on was how clean their bathrooms were... which, spoilers!!!! Were immaculate. I've never been in a storefront, let alone a card shop, with such a clean bathroom. Most card shop bathrooms look like they belong in a gymnasium. All in all, I'd definitely give this place a 10/10. If you're in the Spring, TX area and need a home TCG store for Tuesday Night Magic (EDH), I couldn't recommend this place more!
