These guys are awesome. Stopped by with my 5 year old son to "just look" and walked out with 2 Arrma vorteks 223s. I was nervous about my son being able to handle the speed, but they set us up with the right batteries and settings for him to start with. We have gone out 3 times and I have never been this impressed with any rc trucks out of the box before. They can take a beating and keep going without one broken part yet. Went in looking for a Transmitter, they didn't have the one I was looking for, I asked if they thought there might be another shop in town that might have what I was looking for, was told by the owner that they "are the only shop in town" when I said that I know that's not the truth, he got belligerent, told me to name another shop, when I did he proceeded to tell me those weren't really RC shops, then he was talking to another customer, he must have thought I had left because he started talking shit about me, I'll never be back and would encourage anyone else to stay away from this toxic owner read more

I dealt with terry before in the past and he has always gave me a good deal. I found a great planes super sportster that was 350 dollars and I asked terry what's the lowest you can go. I recently decided that I wanted to get into RC cars as a hobby. I have been reading online quite a bit about this and that, still considering my self a newbie. I figured I would rather purchase my first car from a shop, rather than online, so that I could get some solid info prior to purchasing. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS! The 2 men behind the counter were excessively rude to the point where I will never return. I will also tell every single person that I know about my experience. Let me paint you a picture. I walked in at about 4:15, (they close at 5) there was an older, bald man sitting behind the counter right when you walk in. A younger man, with long curly hair was assisting a mother and son. The older man was just sitting there, so said "Hello, I'm interested in getting into RC cars and read online that the Traxxas Slash was a great starter car, but with all the versions I'm not sure where to start." (Paraphrased) He starts to give me a brief explanation of the difference between 2 and 4 wheel drive, brush vs brushless and different speeds. When I say brief, I mean like a 10 second spiel. Then the phone rings... This is when things start to go down hill. He proceeds to talk to the customer for 10 minutes or so. I don't mind, other than the fact that he's extremely rude to whoever he is talking to. I check out some of the RC cars while he talks, I'm content. Then he hangs the phone up and says "I'm DONE! I am officially on lunch! Can a man not eat around here?!" I'm dumb founded. Phone rings again. Of course he answers it with a defeated tone, being extremely rude to the customer. At this point I've given up on the older man, and wait for the Mother and son to finish up with the guy with long curly hair, he seemed very helpful to the mother and son. They finish up and start walking towards the door, so I begin to approach the counter. As I walk up to the counter, the older man walks up to the long curly haired man and hands him a bag with food. This is when the man with the curly hair announces that he too, is on lunch and walks towards the back. So after waiting 20 minutes with 1 other customer in the building, I'm now standing there, the sole customer at this point, with an old man who has already announced that he isn't going to help me and the only other employee announced the same thing and left the room. This is my first review on yelp for a place that isn't a restaurant. I have NEVER experienced such terrible customer service. It was an embarrassment to not only this business, but to every small business we lost during the pandemic. I walked in looking to spend around 700-1000 and walked out fuming, confused and dumfounded. How are these people employed?? How is this place in business?! Randy, watch your cameras. April 25th 21 @ 4:15ish. Please use this as an example of how NOT to treat a customer to future employees, it's an embarrassment. TLDR: Waited twenty minutes for the (extremely rude) employees help, but both decided to announce to the store that "They were going on lunch" 45 minutes before they close. I was the only customer in the store. They declared they were going on lunch like Michael Scott "declared bankruptcy". Astounding. Let an easy thousand dollar sale walk out. read more

I recommend checking out other local hobby shops before going here if you want to avoid shady price-gouging. I was looking for a very new Traxxas model that's been hard to find in stock. They didn't have it in stock, but offered to put me on the waiting list if I put down a deposit. I didn't mind doing that until I found out that they were charging 10% more on the price. I wanted to check other stores before making any commitment. The guy in the shop proceeded to badmouth his competitors mentioning that HobbyTown is lying if they have it in stock and that Victory RC wouldn't help me if something goes wrong. I ended up purchasing it at another local RC shop that received stock the following the weekend. They didn't require me to put down any money to go on the waiting list and they charged MSRP. I don't support businesses that gouge hobbyists over hot items and trash talk competitors. Win me over with good service and fair prices. read more

My husband and I went to this location because he is into RC cars. The first gentleman we spoke with in the car department was awesome and provided amazing customer service. He made a point to us let know all of the options they offered. My husband chose a dual set of tires that were normally $10.99 and were supposed to be 50% off. When we got to the front to pay another gentleman charged him the $10.99. My husband and I didn't say anything because we wanted to avoid being rude. As soon as I walked in somebody greeted me, The staff really lets you shop/browse without hounding you. They will ask eventually if you need any assistance. Once engaged, they'll talk your ear off - which is a great thing! They are very helpful and have always taken the time to explain, in detail, the reasons with pros and cons for their suggestions. This is a goldmine as far as Hobby Shops are concerned IMHO. The staff is fantastic. They have quite alot of parts for nitro cars and airplanes. Tested my sons Traxxas battery which ended up being DOA... but covered under warranty. Fantastic. I went in to this store to purchase a truck. After the sale, the guy in the shop tells me I really need a 4x4. So, I asked for a refund to get the right one. No deal. I have to come back tomorrow. Fine, I return the next day and speak to the owner who takes the truck back but will NOT issue a refund. He did insult me, question my financial soundness and get very angry that I wanted me money back. So, he has the truck and my money. He has been telling me for two weeks I will get a refund. I have several text messages from him stating just that. It still has not happened. I had to dispute the charges through my credit card company. Chances are Randy will lie about that as well. He is great if you don't have a problem. He is willing to exchange items but has no interest in refunded sales. BEWARE. read more

If I could give a zero I would. My bf paid off the cost of an armma limitless before its initial release. They told him he was number 3 on the list guaranteed to have one once armma started to ship them out. Bfs homeboy called yesturday afternoon around 6:15p to say they were in. Bf rushed there before they closed (6:55p) only to find out they didnt have anymore. The gentleman there said I'll call tomorrow in the morning. Never did. Bf showed up today and was told well we only ordered 2 sorry.... he said he was so mad he turned around and left with our daughter..... so now instead of honoring the down payment and his pay to get his car on the actual release date hes out almost $400. They stole his money. Avoid this place. They are overpriced. They should be ashamed at the way they conduct themselves. He was so eccentric. Totally unacceptable!!!!! read more

I was searching for a Traxxas Trx 6. I called roughly 7 hobby shops and no one had one finally I called here. They had two they asked which color I preferred and said they would hold it as I was an hour away. When I arrived I was greeted they had the Trx 6 behind the counter waiting, they set me up with the battery and charger. Even went as far as explaining for my needs a 2s Lipo would be better than a 3s Lipo. I was a bit indecisive as it was not a cheap entry into my new crawling hobby randy even offered a 5% discount and threw in AA for the receiver which made the buying experience 10/10 plus they offer a 6 month warranty on parts. But the same day while taking it thru sand and a small creek it started making a clicking sound around the transmission. So I took it back in the next day. I got another employee to look at and explained what I did what i was doing when it started and what the research I had done showed it could be. He turned it on and listened, said I need to fill out a paperwork and leave it and it would be awhile and can get costly as they charge $40 an hour for labor (which is fine I use to be an automotive technician I understand labor) but I declined and decided to call another Traxxas dealer (I won't mention the name to be fair to this business) I had spoken to on my search for the Trx 6. They advised me to bring it in as they had two mechanics on duty. So after going to the other Traxxas dealer they listened to it for less than a minute determined I had something in the spur gear they pulled it apart sure enough a few small pebbles they cleaned put it back together, the noise was 97% gone but the spur gear had taken some damage, mind you up until this point it was a no charge situation for a cleaning. But I had them replace the spur gear and they only charged $18 parts and all. So the reason for this is 1. The buying experience was good I won't fault that. 2. For service I would shop around cause who knows how long or much that would've cost me if I had left it for pebbles. I don't expect people to drop everything for me when I bring it in for service but who wants to leave their $840+ purchase the day after they bought it for a simple fix like a spur gear. The guys at Randy's were talking about how they run Traxxas all the time so you'd imagine like the other dealer who fixed it they would've known to take the cover motor off real quick to look so I could've been on my way. read more
