Tamra is extremely knowledgeable regarding myriad services for children and adults and is an amazing asset to families and our community. I am a single mother of 4 here in Wake County and 2 of my children are severely autistic with other differences including sensory processing issues and pica. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Tamra when she was assigned as my child's case manager during her tenure at the CDSA (Children's Developmental Services Agency). Tamra helped me with services for my child and also gave me a lot of advice for my other child that was already in the school system with an IEP. Tamra can help with guidance during IEP meetings and advocate for your child and I can tell you from my personal experience, she will treat your child/children as if they were her own. Tamra was even attentive and answered questions for my 2 children that don't have special needs, but were learning along with me. Tamra is very professional, attentive, determined and I promise you, you would not regret having her help you navigate the complex world of disabilty services, the school system and acquiring other services. I was extremely overwhelmed when we first met because both of my children had just been diagnosed, but Tamra took us under her wing and made me feel so much more confident and comfortable with the processes. My children love Tamra and her family....it was funny because when she started working with us we found out she literally lived in the same subdivision. Tamra's family has become framily (friends that are pretty much family).....because when people go above and beyond and do so much for your family.....they often become just like family and you develop a deep connection and respect. Salem Baptist stands firm in the principles that the Bible teaches because they know them to be true. The staff at Salem do their best to make sure every student feels safe and loved, and put rules in place to ensure students are treated so. Additionally, students at Salem are well educated, and teachers use different teaching styles to incorporate the learning styles of students. They also go out of their way to make sure students understand the topics being taught and highlight the significance of these topics. The people in their care are severely disabled and completely reliant on the caregivers. Most of them are completely non-verbal. Some can say a few words. Those who work there so obviously adore their patients/clients, and love what they do. The grounds are gorgeous, and they have plans for renovating the facility. There is currently construction underway and they are excited about being able to offer even more to those in their care. The way that they treat the people in their care is so reflective of an acknowledgement of their human dignity. Everyone has heard horror stories about institutions that care for people who are unable to care for themselves. This place is on the opposite extreme, and it's such a noble cause. They are looking for volunteers and they have a wishlist of items on their website for those who want to help a charity that is having a tangible impact on people's lives.

Those teachers that are at the school are amazing and class sizes are small my kids went to different school before, A rated school and they love lakeside charter much more and don't want to leave. There was a plumbing issue, because of a big storm that was resolved a long time ago. I can't speak for the special classes my kids are in regular classes but overall it's not a terrible school teachers do the best in accommodating kids and their different levels.

Everyone there, from admin to teachers have been so great, kind and caring. You can tell that the teachers really do care about the children and want them to learn and succeed, and that really leaves a lasting impression, especially for the kids. A perfect example of that is our son. He's no longer in Mrs. Shanna's class, but still anytime we do something fun with him, he wants to take a picture to show Mrs. Shanna or can't wait to go to class tomorrow so he can see Mrs. Shanna to tell her about something we did the night before. It makes us, as parents, feel good when we drop him off everyday to know that he loves being there, he's learning and being well taken care of.
