Hello fellow yelpers, i would like to share my experience remodeling my kitchen and bath with GreenStar construcrion. My family owns several properties around the bay area of San francisco, and i am going back and forth from new york managing our properties. Towards the end of last year we secided its time to refresh the look of two of our properties, i personally interviewd 5 different contractors. After doing some research, i was lost. They all seemed good, all promised great things, i was in a crossroad and didnt know which way to go. I was fortunate to catch my friend for a brief talk before he left the country for a vacation, and he told me that couple of years ago he did hia kitchen with Jay, the owner of Greenstar. He told me he was very happy with the final look of his kitchen. He didnt sugar coat it and told me that the progress was extensive but if i decide to go that rout Jay would be the right guy to talk to. That was exactly what i needed to hear. A friend who recommends based on his personal experience. I decided to contact Jay and Greenstar, on the 11/11/1016 to be exact. Jay came out to one of the properties and gave me his insight about the project. I could see right there that im dealing with a knowledgable person with great design ideas. He left very good impression and even provided me with references of people who were in the same position as me with investment properties in California while leaving in New York. They all had great things to say about this company. For me at that point that was a GO. I hired Greenstar to remodel kitchen and bath. The entire remodel took 2 months which was exactly what Jay had promised and signed up for. Most of that time i was in New York comunicating with Jay through Skype, Email, and Sms, isnt technology great!? Once we passed final inspection i flew into San francisco, i walked into my home, and... it looked amazing! It looked just like i invisioned. I was extremely excited and happy, especially after hearing horror stories about other experiences. I had a wonderful experience with Jay and GreenStar. I scheduled already another remodel with them ( kitchen in San Mateo). I found my "go to" guys when it comes to remodel my properties. Jay and his crew at GreenStar Construction are lifesavers! They did a fantastic job on our kitchen remodel, on relatively short notice. I had original plans with another contractor that fell through at the last minute, so I went to yelp to search for good contractors in the East Bay. GreenStar Construction was highly rated, so I gave them a call. Jay answered and was able to come by my house for an initial walkthrough that day. We had a good conversation about my ideas for the kitchen, and he even suggested some things I hadn't thought of. GreenStar's prices were very competitive with other contractors I had spoken with, and the best thing was they were able to start within a few weeks! From the beginning, Jay and the rest of the crew had really great communication. Oscar was the lead of the crew working on our place, and he and I and Jay were able to quickly talk through all of the things that inevitably come up in a remodel project. Oscar gave us really nice guidance on places to pick out various things for the project and was always available for questions during the day and in the evening. The guys were super chill to have around the house all day, super friendly and respectful. The care and craftsmanship that the GreenStar crew spent on our kitchen was incredibly appreciated. Everything from our hardwood floors, to a difficult backsplash, to some intricate cuts in our crown molding around our cabinets, they did great work. Last, they get the job done fast! Oscar and Julio were here every morning at 8am sharp, and went to work! I was pretty amazed by the amount of plumbing and electrical they completed on the first day. If it weren't for me lagging on getting some materials for them, they could have finished the job in a couple of weeks. As it stood, we finished in about 3.5 weeks (again, because they had to wait for some stuff I ordered) with an original estimation of 4-5 weeks. I highly recommend Greenstar based on my experience with them during a recent bathroom remodel. First of all, after receiving many bids, Greenstar gave us the most fair and complete bid. It was broken down into steps that clarified what would be done and how much each section of the job would cost. There was a clear schedule and over the course of the job, someone was working every day so it was done on time according to schedule. Emil was friendly, prompt and a good communicator and facilitator during the entire job. He responded to my texts and calls (even on the weekends) and continued to check in during the course of the work. All of the hands-on workers: Oscar, Cesar, Jose, Andre, and Javier were prompt, friendly, polite, easy to communicate with and did excellent work. Oscar, the foreman, always went the extra mile for us: driving us to Lowe's to get things I suddenly realized I wanted to change, asking me questions to help me think through what I wanted, and responding to all of my questions and concerns quickly. Whenever something unexpected came up, which is a given when remodeling in an old San Francisco Victorian, they had clear explanations of the issues and solutions that balanced quality with price. Some notable specifics were: leveling the floor to compensate for the slant of our home, and refinishing an entire wood floor when some of the construction tape left a small mark. Demo was smooth, plumbing went well, everything was installed properly, the tile job was done perfectly, and clean up was superb. We found GreenStar Construction online, and scheduled a visit with their representative. We liked that within an hour from our phone call, Jay the owner was able to come out and provide us with an estimate. We discussed different remodeling ideas, and we had a good impression of his knowledge. We appreciated that there was no pressure for us to sign right away, we liked the design ideas and we really liked the reasonable price Jay provided us for 2 bathrooms In the beginning we felt overwhelmed with all the different options for materials, Jay directed us and guided us through out the project, helped us sourcing out the materials and followed through with his promises. Initially we were worried about the outcome of installing small marble tiles on the wall since we were not sure about how it'll look at the end, but the crew was very professional, installed small subway marble tile on the wall, they made sure the tile was straight, they polished the edges and made it look very nice. By end of each they the crew updated us about the work that was done and the work that will be done in the following days. We are very pleased with Green Stars work, and we will recommend them to our friends and neighbors read more

He was recommended to us by a friend who is doing her kitchen remodeling. We got a very good feeling when we first met with Jay. He and his team started the job as per our agreement (in fact he was ready to start the work early but we were not ready on our end) and completed it ahead of the schedule. The workers he brought to do the work were very reliable, great to work with. They were also very flexible and willing to accommodate your schedule as much as possible (They worked couple of Saturdays to accommodate our schedule). Overall, we had a very positive and great experience with respect to our bath room remodel that included new flooring, painting, electrical and plumbing work. I heard of GreenStar Construction from work of mouth. My colleague had his bathroom done and raved about how well it turned out for their budget. So my wife and I decided to use them as well. We re-designed our kitchen changing backsplash, cabinets, and countertops. GreenStar did an impeccable job. The ower Jay has an eye for design. He gave us many options to. Goose from that was substancial for our budget. He always answered when we reached out to him, and went up and beyond to make sure we got the most out of our budget. It took less than six weeks. The men on the job were great, and Jay came on sight many times to make sure everything was going smoothly. I'd highly recommend this company to my friends and family! Jay did a a bathroom remodel for us a couple of years ago, and we were happy with the outcome. A few months ago, I contacted him regarding another project. Although the project was smaller than what he usually takes on, he agreed to help me with it and promised to stop by. However, after a couple of conversations, he stopped returning my phone calls and I was forced to look elsewhere for help. I can accept that the project was smaller than what he likes to take on; but I prefer to work with someone who returns phone calls and fulfills promises, regardless of the immediate payoff. read more

1-1-2017 I contacted this company, This is a Great Company, I've known Jay the owner for a while, he did my kitchen and bathroom in a timely manner, answered all of my questions, and his crew was very nice and cooperative. This was the second project he was doing for me, now it was time for my condo in Walnut Creek to be remodeled. We hired GreenStar to do a variety of projects in our new house -- installing a wood floor, adding some molding, some drywall and electric work, and pouring some concrete to fix a drainage problem in our garage. We were very happy with the results, and especially impressed with the consistent high quality of the work across so many different kinds of project. We had great experience with Green Star Construction. Our kitchen looks good, it was done in a timely manner and in the best way possible. I personally liked dealing with Jay the owner of the company. He got us better deals on materials, he took care of the permits and he managed the project until it was completed.
