Please do not use this company. We purchased a home from a couple who hired him to create an addition to the home we currently reside in. Long story short, he did not construct a part of the roof according to the plans. The City missed it and he didn't build it. When I contacted him about it, he stated he was very sick and didn't think he was going to make it. I felt bad and we went with a temporary fix. I sent him an email about the repair and asked him to consider reimbursing some of the costs. He asked me to send him the estimate for repair, which I did and he never responded. I have all of the emails as well if anyone wants to see them. Fast forward to now, the sagging roof now needs to be properly repaired/replaced to the tune of about 15k. I contacted him again and his response was "you must be kidding me!" I have this email too if anyone would like to see it. Now I fully understand that I did not hire him personally, but to know that something wasn't built according to approved plans and yet he failed to take responsibility or correct it is reason enough to not consider him for your particular project. Plain and simple, he got paid for a job and didn't do the work. A word of caution about this man and if anyone would like to see his lack of professionalism and poor business etiquette, I will share the emails with you. Just pm me. read more

Vio and Robert are great to work with. They are gentlemen with integrity who keep their commitments. We were very comfortable with them in our house, this includes our dog. They worked steadily on the project for six weeks with work going forward every day. They were on time. The work was done neatly and they were diligent to clean up. They did extensive work for us... a complete bathroom remodel upstairs while redesigning a downstairs 1/2 bathroom adding a shower. Finally, they widened a hallway moving three beams in the process. They were able to do the carpentry, plumbing, wiring and the tile work without having to call in or schedule subcontractors. We are very pleased with the craftsmanship love are new bathrooms. Neagu Construction has repaired two major fixes in my apartment, and I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. We had a serious mold issue which was caused by water intrusion from the outside of the building, through cracks in the stucco. Viorel and David did a great job fixing my place. They were patient with me during a difficult time, while also being very mindful of my living space and our two cats. The second job he did was having to replace our entire bathroom due to water damage from inside the building. They gave my bathroom a complete makeover!! We went from a tiny stall shower with old floors/fixtures/toilet, to a tub/shower combo, a new vanity sink, new flooring, toilet, the works! I couldn't be happier. We live in a 10 unit building with a landlord who prefers to do subpar/patch work to save a dime, but Viorel refused to do that. He will only do a job the "right way" and fix what needs to be done. We've had other contractors here who would cover up the issue instead of investigating it more to find the problem, but this has never happened with Neagu Construction. Viorel and team are truly fantastic contractors. They are all incredibly professional, and you can tell that he really cares about doing the job right the first time. I signed up to yelp specifically to write this review. I inherited my grandparents old house that was built in the early 1940s. It was run down and had many patch job repairs throughout the years. After giving it much thought we decided it was worth it to renovate instead of just selling it as is. I found Neagu the way you find most good businesses, by word of mouth. I gave Neagu a call and set up an appointment for a walk through. I showed him the old house and my concerns about hidden water damage. My goal was to bring everything in the house up to code and extend the house slightly if we could keep it in budget. He took notes and informed me it was a very big job, but he and his team had worked on houses in worse condition. After checking with the bank and getting a solid budget, we made another appointment with him and an architect. Neagu was a great help, he was able to tell us what was possible and what he recommended while staying in our budget. On many instances he had much better taste and ideas than the architect. After going over many design edits, we came to a design that we liked and that we could afford. After submitting the paperwork to the city, Neagu went there personally many times to help speed the process along. Once the city approved the work, he and his team were on time every day. I can't say enough good things about his team. They are hardworking and trustworthy guys that even fed my cat on days I couldn't make it back to the house. I think that cat ended up liking them more than he likes me. Now the fun part, the unexpected damages. As the demo progressed and the stucco was removed on the north side of the house, water damage was reviled that went all the way to the foundation. That ended up costing more, but Neagu told us not to worry about it, he will make it work. Unfortunately for me, the deeper they dug into the house, the more unexpected damage was found. Foundation repairs, rotted wood, termites, bad pipes, all doors were 4" under code (that was a shocker) and then the south side of the house. The damage on the south side was so severe, I arrived to Neagu and his team just looking at it trying to understand how the house had not fallen down yet. The whole corner and most of the support beams were gone. Gone! Rotted away from decades of leaks. The team went from telling me "we've worked on worse", to "this is the most damage we've seen". There was not workaround for this, so obviously we had to go over budget. Even though the price understandably went up, I heard from other contractors that they would have charged me almost double what Neagu charged us. In the end, we received a great deal on the amount of work that was done. The damage was repaired, extended 4' on one side, Kitchen, master bed and bath remodeled, new plumbing, all new electrical and central heating/AC was added. It took around three months of work, and was still cheaper than bulldozing and starting from scratch. Take a look at the before and after pics. I can't recommend them enough. read more

We were in desperate need of a kitchen remodel. We had a major addition to our house before, and learned some important lessons from that. It was a nightmare, to say the least. So, with that in mind we started to get bids on what we wanted done. Some very high, some very low. It's not always best to go with the lowest bid. When Neagu came, he didn't pressure us to sign a contract (some did! Like high pressure car salespeople), Just said yes to our requests, and suggested alternatives if it would save time and money. He was honest and realistic about a start date. The crew was here every morning at 8 am until the project was completed. I was home during much of the work, and could see their craftsmanship was excellent. The demo went quickly, and the mess was always cleaned up before they went home. There were a couple of things that needed updating to be to code along the way. But we only went over estimate by less than 10% (20% is the norm). Very happy about that. When it was complete, it was actually a few days ahead of schedule. Our kitchen looks beautiful and new. Couldn't be more pleased with how it came out. We were having Neagu to help with our kitchen remodeling and flooring for the ground floor. He is a honest guy and the team is very professional with their craftsman ship. We bought Innermost kitchen cabinets from Home Depot. These are frameless designs and Home Depot contractors charge an outrageous price and that's why we need to source another contractor. Neagu's team not only offered competitive pricing in installing these frameless cabinets but also helped us install a 48" long ceramic tile. There were other flooring specialist in the area refused to install such a long slab for us, but we really liked the longer tiles for our floor, so we were fortunate that Neagu and his team are willing and capable in doing this for us. It was always easy to use one single contractor for every remodeling projects you need, and Neagu is one of them you could rely on. His associates, Robert and Ringo are so good and professional, they are honest of what they could do and complete the task flawlessly. Great guys to work with. Prompt: He told me he would arrive at our house at 8:30AM. The door bell rang at 8:30AM! We had a toilet tank leak from the second floor and it damaged the ceiling above our family room. I wanted the ceiling fixed and the bathroom floor and toilet replaced. I called 4 contractors and we went with Neagu after meeting all of them. Others took a couple of days to give me an estimate at about the same quote that Neagu provided on the spot. Neagu Contractors remodeled most of the downstairs of our home. Neagu was referred to us by a friend whose garage Neagu and his team has just finished building. It all started one morning when Viorel Neagu parked in front of our house to give us an estimate. My husband saw the immaculate condition of Neagu's truck. He told me "this guy is hired. Anyone that keeps his work truck that clean has got to be good." Well, Neagu Contractors aren't just good, they are great!! Our remodel consisted of complete kitchen, complete bathroom, new front doors, two sky tubes, popcorn ceiling and wallpaper removal , wall texturing, and painting. I had been putting off remodeling our home because I didn't know how to start much less whom to trust. Viorel Neagu quickly dispelled any misgivings I had as he is an honest, personable yet professional, very confident and a highly experienced contractor. He explained what work would be done and gave suggestions that helped beautify our home. Neagu and Robert, his primary employee, are excellent and efficient "old world" European craftsmen who take real pride in their work and it definitely shows. Since they work on one project at a time, our remodel took just six weeks. Workdays started at 8 am and ended between 5 - 6 pm. Monday through Friday. I think once, Robert even worked a Saturday. Neagu listened to what we wanted to remodel in our home, got a sense of our tastes and budget, and made great suggestions to help us get started. For our bathroom counter tops and shower surround, Neagu suggested that we visit Cultured Marble Products in San Leandro. We viewed the showroom and took a tour of the plant to see how their products are manufactured. I took samples of their products home to see how they looked in our lighting. We chose products that look great, are very easy to keep clean, and have no grout lines. We chose bathroom and kitchen cabinets from Home Depot. Because we wanted to change the footprint of our kitchen, Neagu worked with a Home Depot kitchen designer and soon after showed us a schematic of our new kitchen, illustrating the placement of the various cabinets, appliances, sink, and window. For our kitchen granite countertops, Neagu suggested a huge granite and marble showroom - the size of a football field. After Robert installed the cabinets, Neagu went with us to select the slabs of granite. The granite installation was the only part of our remodel that Neagu subcontracted out to another team of excellent craftsmen. Neagu suggested that we have two sky tubes installed in a dark upstairs hallway. Its amazing to see how much light comes in and they have made all of the difference in opening up this space. Remodeling one's home can be a real trying experience. Lots of decisions are made is a short period of time. In addition, you have a couple of guys, whom you previously did not know, "live" with you until the project is complete. However, Neagu and his team became our friends and it ended up being a very pleasant and enlightening experience.
