The Tasting Lab was an unexpected gem! I ordered the cheesesteak, and having spent half my life in…read morePhilly, I'm definitely picky about them. This version wasn't the usual shaved ribeye. it was thinly sliced, incredibly tender, and seasoned to perfection. The cheese sauce was rich and flavorful. My only critique is the roll, it was super soft, so the juicy meat and cheese made it a little soggy. Still, the flavor more than made up for it, easily a 4 out of 5 on the sandwich alone. The rest of the experience? Absolute 10. They know how to season their food, and the variety of sauces they offer takes things to the next level. My husband tried the beer flight and loved it. We sat outside, and the whole place had such a fun, laid-back energy. We're not from the area, but if we were, this would be a weekly go-to. Highly recommend for foodies, beer lovers, and anyone who appreciates bold flavors and a good time. Service was great and I have nothing it good things to say.

Although tasty it was sweet and needed more chipotle. The highlight was the in-house cut French fries that needed a dash of salt that we added. Ordered an all day shandy that could have been colder. Hubby had a #10 from the beer list and liked it so much he ordered a second. Took home a blueberry cheesecake that hubby said was good but not amazing

I was out running errands and decided to order from their website (and also pay in advance), thinking I could stop by and pick up my order on my way home. Both their website and Yelp listing showed that they were open. I also received an order status text saying my food was being prepared and approximate time it would be ready. When I arrived at the restaurant, the owner was just getting there and letting himself in. He said he had canceled my order since they weren't open yet, but if I wanted to come back in two hours I could order then, I said no thank you and told him to cancel it, to which he said "ok." I found out later that night that the order had not been canceled, and they processed the payment for anyway. Apparently their website orders are processed through the Slice app. I contacted Slice and was told they couldn't do anything about a refund and that I would have to obtain it through the restaurant owner. The restaurant owner in turn told me he couldn't do anything about it and that I would have to contact Slice. I was screwed out of about $25 while they pointed their fingers at each other. So buyer beware - avoid ordering through their website. And to the restaurant owner, maybe get your business off the freaking internet, since you clearly don't know how to navigate it!! And while I'm here, I can comment on the establishment itself: their use of the quaint word "cafe" in their business name is ridiculous - the place is a hole. I guess it used to be a nice restaurant, but changed ownership, so maybe only pay attention to reviews after 2024.

The pizza that I was served was awful, and I was charged about $24 for some sad Indian food that was basically a samosa and some kind of "chicken patty". My first clue that both types of food were going to be awful is that I've never been to a pizza place that serves Indian food or vice versa.

Well, that's exactly how it felt when we walked in for a quick bite at Angel's in rural East Durham, NY. With a name like Angel's Café and the owner being a Spanish language speaker, the customer base leans in a totally different direction: more rural Americana than anything else. Stares aside, we were sent this way after wrapping up some errands in town. Clean and spacious with a menu full of variety, this café-restaurant has something for every taste. My Muenster and sliced tomato grilled cheese had just the right amount of gooeyness, pressed between buttery slices of rye (not my go-to, but it was either that or wheat). It hit the spot so well, I almost ordered another. Hubs, being the meat-eater he is, went for the burger patty club sandwich and had no complaints. While the space itself is spotless and inviting, the ventilation system could use some attention because I left smelling more like the kitchen than a customer. Still, the wide selection and comfortable setting make it a nice visit. Service was easygoing and for two solid sandwiches, a pink lemonade and an iced tea, our total was just $24. No fuss, no frills- just a satisfying small-town lunch.
