My family spent several days at a rental home a mile or so from Gracie's and, naturally, had to…read moregive the local diner a try. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

We had no problems getting a table. However, when we left the place was packed. We ordered Water, Lemonade, Ginger Ale, Waldorf Salad, Grilled Cheese & Bacon and Waffles. The menu had all the basics. The food was average. No complaints. My Waldorf salad was very plentiful. I took the remaining portion home. Customer Service was pretty good. The luncheonette has plenty of parking. Gracie's appears to be a reliable place to stop in for a bite.

Like shorts, shirt, dad hat backwards, with a baby car seat and we were welcomed in with open arms *cue Journey*. The tiacolo and tetela were good. The smoked pig and pork belly were delicious too. Got couple glasses of white to wash it down. We had homeboy(server) literally describe everything to us and he was super friendly and chill about it. Honestly this spot is a cool date night spot but also could be a good family outing. As a tourist, I'm glad to have spent the extra dime here because gyyyaaawdamn this part of New York lacks flavor. You would think closer to the farms, would be a bit better, but maybe just the areas we visited were ehh. This was the only spot in Leeds we checked out cuz we were more congregated around Saugerties. Idk the area just tryna spell the context. Everything is like 15-30 away from each other so maybe there's other spots just like this with a bit more cost effectiveness.

This out of the way corner cafe in Upstate Athens is very homey, open, clean, welcoming and has lots of off beat offerings that a regular passer by would not necessarily expect. It has big windows. For one, they hotly cook-up pizzettes, hot and very flavorful sandwiches, soups, coffees and tea. Right next to the register is a clear glass window box with all sorts of scrumptious sweets, muffins, cakes, tarts, choco donuts and cupcakes - that are made each day, I might add. The display is quaint and spot-on and each dessert is elevated on a tiny cake platter on a doily. Next, all the menu boards (above the counter and to the side) are easily legible, for elderly too. The menu that was handed to me was also not too complicated (2 sides) and was laminated, to avoid Covid. The staff was professional, bouncy (music), well prepared for groups that came and friendly. Some staff even remembered what some of the elderly in line wanted, before they ordered. How is that for manners and style?! Go kick rocks down an alley Starbucks! Lastly - the food and drinks here are simply very outstanding. I do not say that often. My cheese panini-style sandwich had layers of molten and hot cheeses, seared onions and somewhere in that mass also herbs and some dark mustard! It was scrumptious. They serve other classics like turkey, salami, ham sandwiches (some already wrapped for quick sale and go). The Athens Rooster is off the beaten (egg?), no track; (just kidding) but the parking is easy, there are lots of seats and even just simply placing (it's a small gesture, for sure - but chefs like me take note) a large jug full of free lemon water with clean cups on the bar counter at the front, really: makes all the visitors days. Cafe go-ers love those water jugs. Believe me! The Athens Rooster is a well maintained, bright and friendly late breakfast and late lunch spot. The grilled cheese and coffee stayed hot longer than 15 minutes after the sale. Very delicious! Top notch cafe - expertly prepared cuisine. Review: 5+

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

The interior is a nice balance between rustic and modern, creating a cozy/homelike atmosphere. We ordered the sea salt focaccia with whipped ricotta, the Maine mussels all'Amatriciana, the Argentinian red prawns, the heritage pork chop, and toffee pudding. The focaccia was baked perfectly, with just the right amount of seasoning. The biggest surprise, though, was the mussels. They arrived already removed from the shells, which I wasn't expecting, but they ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The prawns were good, while the pork chop had nice flavor, though I wish it had been a little juicier. The toffee pudding is highly recommended. My husband ordered Mike frites and they were very good. Frites even came with some homemade aioli I had the fried chicken on a bed of mash.
