They were running after each other on both sides of the fence. Great, but the one in the big dog area still had his leash on and not sure why. The mom or woman told the kids that was there that there was someone (me) coming in to the big dog area. He looked up then went back to looking down at his phone. When I left he went to get the dog and took him over to the smaller dog area but the dog kept running from him for several minutes. Dog parks are not to let your dog run wild without watching them and especially not cool when they do their business and you don't pick up after them. No trees but the did have benches to sit on.

We happened across this dog friendly gem by accident and it was a great find. First there's a…read morebeautiful, dog friendly beach. It's certainly off the beaten path and during our time here only saw three other people and only one other dog. And they were pretty far away. The beach is a little unusual if you're not from the area and is made of this very small (most pieces were 1/16th to 1/4 inch) smooth rocks. It was really nice to walk on. Right along the waterline are very jagged rocks that look pretty hard to walk on, so it's probably not the best beach to plan on going for a swim. Besides the water is cold. There's plenty of driftwood and larger rocks to check out. The path from the park is a little steep and it could be a little slick when it gets wet. The walk up and down the hill is worth it. If you don't feel like taking your dog down to the beach there's also a large fenced in dog park on the other side of the parking lot. It's pretty bad, but we didn't see this at first because we thought the beach was so cool. We saw more people and dogs in the enclosed dog area than we did on the beach. If we're in the area again we'd definitely go back.

Trail starts off flat and becomes a steady incline towards the peak. Overall, it would be considered an easy hike. Unfortunately, the peak gets uncomfortably crowded with hikers. Limited parking spots with additional parking on the side of the West Rim Drive. A decent amount of people stop by at this Watchman Overlook because of the stunning views of Crater Lake. No restrooms at this location. The views at Watchman Peak are slightly different from the views at Garfield Peak. The small island is much closer to you on the Watchman Peak side. My dog really enjoys running around and playing here. Once we are done on the beach there are plenty of trails for her to walk on and wildlife to see. She especially loves the birds and the turkeys. It's easy to spend 4 hours here daily just exploring and enjoying the water. It's fairly clean and safe since the beach is a decent ways away from the road. We haven't camped here or used the restrooms. We just enjoy the water and the trails. It's a perfect place for a picnic on a warm day and an excellent area to stretch your legs on a car trip.

We arrived late after dark and it was very easy to check in with no ranger present at the gate house. In the morning we awoke to find a beautiful campsite with easy access to the beach and the Coquille River Lighthouse. We met friendly RVers right next to us and I would gladly stay here again. Generally, Bandon doesn't get as much attention as some of the other spots up the coast, but I really liked it here. The beach is quiet and peaceful and, although it doesn't have the crazy rock formations that some others do, it is definitely worth a visit. The driftwood here was nuts!
