But Shannon (owner) was very understanding and went above and beyond all my expectations of a paid for dog experience. I have traveled coast to coast with my dog and never have come across a better experience with my dog. Yes you do pay a small entry fee but with the equipment/toys she has makes it worth every penny. I wish there was something like this close to my house. Highly recommend.

There are some trees for shade and two picnic tables (the city website says food is not allowed). They also provide water for the dogs, but I couldn't figure out how to turn on the spigot to fill the bowl. Maybe that's just user error! You can't see the Rogue River from the park, but you can hear it. There is a paved path nearby that will take you the 100 yards to overlook the rushing water.

We happened across this dog friendly gem by accident and it was a great find. First there's a…read morebeautiful, dog friendly beach. It's certainly off the beaten path and during our time here only saw three other people and only one other dog. And they were pretty far away. The beach is a little unusual if you're not from the area and is made of this very small (most pieces were 1/16th to 1/4 inch) smooth rocks. It was really nice to walk on. Right along the waterline are very jagged rocks that look pretty hard to walk on, so it's probably not the best beach to plan on going for a swim. Besides the water is cold. There's plenty of driftwood and larger rocks to check out. The path from the park is a little steep and it could be a little slick when it gets wet. The walk up and down the hill is worth it. If you don't feel like taking your dog down to the beach there's also a large fenced in dog park on the other side of the parking lot. It's pretty bad, but we didn't see this at first because we thought the beach was so cool. We saw more people and dogs in the enclosed dog area than we did on the beach. If we're in the area again we'd definitely go back.

I like this dog park, but be warned. There is a fenced area for small dogs, but the rest has no…read morefence. That isn't a problem for me, but it might be for you if your dog tends to run away when it gets a taste of freedom. That being said, the park is huge and there are no worries about using a chuckit and letting those balls fly. There is an agility area if you and your dog are into that (my dog ignores it). There is also a creek which I haven't explored yet but will. There are restrooms, a bucket for doggie water, and poop bags. I've seen the bag dispenser empty once so it does happen. Of course some don't pick up after their dogs but that happens everywhere. I haven't seen a huge accumulation of dog poop so far. I do clean it up when I see it.

The garden is organized into themed sections with pathways to follow to take you through the different garden areas. There is the Japanese Garden, the Butterfly Garden, the Children's Garden, and the Rose Garden, to name a few. Each visit is a little different, depending on the time of year and what is in bloom. On this visit, I was amazed by all the different dahlias, the beautiful roses, and the whimsical rock garden populated by gnomes.
