This park is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Lucky for us, my family moved in this area and Greenwood Park is within walking distances. With it's infamous 3 towering flower structure that offers beauty and shade, you can't miss it!! While there are the typical play structures found at typical parks, Greenwood has a number of musical instruments to play with and enjoy. The park has plenty of seating areas and also has BBQ grills. There are restrooms available but I can't speak on the conditions since I haven't actually used them. Probably one of the nicest parks in Hayward. Problem is its just in an unusual hard to find spot that is almost hidden - unless you are one of the lucky residents nearby. Flowering trees, walkways, little musical instrument for kids, bay friendly rated landscaping, beautiful flower shaped shade artwork, hammock, swings, play structure, small trampoline, basketball hoops... I could go on and on about all the different amenities. There is something for everybody. One beautifully done park... likely from money from the new nearby construction. Big newer homes are on one side and then trailer park homes are on the other side. Its a public park and no matter what you pay for rent or where you live it is here for you to enjoy. The one problem I saw was the basketball hoops. They were like tiny lakes. For whatever reason the concrete contractors messed up. They made little swimming pool instead of flat concrete that doesn't puddle up. I've bounced a ball in a tiny pool of water... and let me tell you - its one way to end the fun. Great little park for all residents of Hayward. Worth a little drive to get to. read more

Beautiful, newer park in Hayward in a residential area and close enough to Southland mall for any groceries or last minute items you happen to forget but need for your party. There's also plenty of activities to choose from: basketball court, large playground, and hill that makes for a great slide (just find yourself a piece of cardboard and you're golden). ~ Picnic area The process to rent was easy and can be done online. I booked picnic area #1 for my sister's gender reveal as it was closest to the bathroom and adjacent to the field area for our guests to play field sports. It was plenty of room for 30 people though we did bring 2 additional 6 foot tables to set our food on. ~ Accessibility/Load in The great part about this park is the paved walkways which made it accessible for my mom & sister's father in law who were both in wheelchair. It's also a nice little stroll for parents who are pushing their children in their strollers. As far as load-in, this was a bit of a challenge because the park is gated with only few openings. Instead of loading directly to the picnic area, we had to go around to the entrance and make our way to our spot. Definitely bring a wagon to assist with this. ~ Parking Parking is relatively easy to find despite being in a residential area with no dedicated parking lot. You park along the street; however, there is no dedicated spot near the entrances for disabled parking. Keep this in mind if you are booking and have disabled family/friends -- they will need to double park near the entrance if close parking is taken. ~ Bathrooms Because this is a smaller park, the bathrooms were fairly clean! I was pleasantly surprised to also find an actual roll of toliet paper. If you're familiar with San Leandro parks, then you know that their toilet paper comes in individual squares so you're SOL if you gotta deuce lol. read more

Greenwood Park is an excellent little park nestled away in a newer development. It's the type of park that might make you say, "Hey I should move to THIS part of Hayward!" Joking aside, I was impressed with the park for several reasons. First, it's very well kept and modern. There are clean bathrooms, modern kids' play structures, and a basketball court. The play structures were interesting; they included a climbing wall, musical-hands-on type, and a mound/hill to slide down. Also, there are plenty of shady spots to sit and have lunch; some of the tables have special tops for playing chess or checkers. I noticed that the basketball courts and some of the grassy areas were possibly on uneven ground due to the water pooling there. Another good thing about this park is the ample parking and safe vibe of the neighborhood. There's no major street nearby and lots of friendly locals around walking. read more

The park is nice and clean, spacious and flat. There's a little play structure area for toddlers. There isn't one big structure for bigger kids, but some things like a rock climbing structure meant for older kids. There's a good paved path for strollers that makes loops around the park, perfect for parents who want to push their kids in strollers around the park. read more

Found this park while in the Hayward area for work. I was looking for a park to eat my sandwich at and enjoy my lunch break. I found this park on Yelp and it did not disappoint. The main non-negotiable was a clean, stocked restroom facility. I arrived when the cleaning crew had just finished cleaning the toilets. Thank you!! There are lots of tables to sit in the shade, and green grass to lay a blanket out on. There was only 1 other family enjoying the recently renovated playground when I visited the park mid-week. Finally, I love the paved walking path that weaves through the park. It was very enjoyable and lots of routes so you don't run into other walkers. Lovely space. Do visit. read more

Any renovation to a park is a good thing....this park has been around since 1980 with the development of new homes....its maybe been renovated once to add more 'McDonald's-like' play structures...eh... 35+ years later, new housing development has gone up...meaning a major overhaul/beautification of the park had to happen...After being closed for 1 year, the City of Hayward is having its park grand opening on Wednesday, June 15th with a skateboard area, full basketball court, half court, individual picnic areas, concrete path along with perimeter with distance markers and reserveable area with bbq and group picnics, along with a small pet area...major improvement! Hope people can appreciate it the new addition for people to enjoy, bring a sense of community and not be ruined by a few haters. read more

Our go-to park whenever we're too lazy to drive further to walk our dog. It's located in residential area and has tons of fun equipment for kids to play in. There's a mountain climbing thing, a small hill, sand area, swings, slides, musical equipment, and other ones I cannot name. There's a basketball court but the hoop has been taken off ever since the pandemic began. I had a blast here with my nephews one day who rarely go outside due to the pandemic. There's also a walking area with grass. There are tons of tables as well for gatherings. We saw a few tables with chess board engrained on top, but I haven't seen anybody use it. Parking is plentiful on the side street, you must parallel park but we never had issues finding parking. Overall a great place to take a nice stroll and bring kids (if you have any) to play on the many equipment that you don't find in other parks. read more

An overall pretty cool park! It looks so nice and it seems that, based on other reviews, this location was recently remodeled and it shows! Very cool and kid friendly. I see a few adults just chilling or walking around, some teens playing basketball. It's overall a nice small park with lots of play areas for kids, too. After the park renovation, it seems like more families are coming to the park and less bums. It might also be because it's summer time. Th play structures are great for 3-5 year old but not so great for the older kids. There is a full court and a half court for basketball and a field for other sports. There is one concrete bench for skateboarding, a small sand pit and a big green AstroTurf hill for kids to slide on. The park is beautiful so I hope the community keeps it that way. read more

Greenwood park brings back a lot of memories. Mainly they consisted of intense pickup basketball games between my buddies and I on many summer mornings and late afternoons. Its also been the spot where we've held barbecues. It has the base needs of a park, including a cement trail, decent space to play tag or football, a well-sized playground, and of course, a full-court basketball court. If you're looking to play ball here, the courts are hardly full during the day. I wouldn't play here at night though since it seems sketchy, especially in the back where bums tend to hang out. Despite the fact they're building condos across the street in an effort to revitalize the area, it does seem a bit unsafe. As the first reviewer mentioned, there's been sights of vandalism and cars doing donuts. Its a basic park that'll meet your needs, but definitely come here during the day. Cheerio. read more

A pretty basic park that has your usual suspects: basketball court, jungle gym with tanbark, bbqs, and lawn. The grass is kept fairly green while the rest of the park feels a bit worn. They recently replaced the jungle gym for a new plastic one, but I liked the older wooden one better. The scenery is basically the street road of Middle Lane and Eden. These roads can get a bit hectic near rush hour. The rest home that used to be behind the park was demolished. I hear that they're going to expand the park into this area. This would double the size of the park. I sure hope that this gets completed. Greenwood Park is sometimes visited by loony people, but which park isn't? Most of the time this place is empty. __ An average park that has enough room for a game of tag or some basketball. Vandalism can be periodically seen in the forms of car donuts and tagging. read more

Basic park. Basketball courts big grass area for soccer or football or just to play catch. There's a few BBQ pits here. The only negative I have is that there is usually 3-5 homeless people hanging around doing what they do. Some are scary, some are friendly. So If you feel uncomfortable about being around homeless then this isn't the park for you. Other than that it does the job.. The breeze from the bay comes in and feels nice and also they just built some new KB homes right across so it doesn't look as trashed as it used to be. read more

I've lived in the area pretty much all my life and I have many memories at this park. The park was built back in the 80's and little has been done as far as renovations. A few years ago, the city did upgrade the playground area so thats a plus, however nothing else has changed but a few replanting of trees. The city continues to maintain the park, patching up cracks from settling basketball courts. As a member of the neighborhood watch, I remember we've brought the homeless/drunk loitering issue to the city and its police department however, despite the citys continuing attempts to reduce the loitering it still appears that the problem exists. The parks expansion was proposed as a gift from a developer who said he'd donate a portion of the land he is planning to develop to the city in return that the city change the zoning from a low density residential to a medium residential which would mean townhomes wedged inbetween neighborhoods. I'll be honest, I would rather not have townhomes with an expanded park. In conclusion, the park is a nice little neighborhood park, however is overdue for a make over. the concrete pathways are cracked and wedged up, the basketball courts are run down and need to be repainted. The BBQ areas need to be landscaped and redone. Graffiti is all over. Water fountains need to be upgraded and if there is a way, need to be dog resistant. I never use the water fountains since I've witness owners allow their dogs to lick the fountains to drink.....gross. COME ON HAYWARD.... I KNOW WE'RE ALL HURTING IN THIS ECONOMY BUT TIME TO FIX THINGS. read more

This park has some play structures that I've never seen at different parks. My 1.5 year old active son loved here and kept running around for two hours!! Mountain, swings, trampoline, slides, sand box etc. Also many big trees create shades, which is great on a sunny day. read more

Went here after I heard they did a remodel. Quite possibly this is one of the best parks for children in the east bay. Everything is new, they have a hill that kids can roll down, there are sound bars that you can hit and swings and playgrounds. The park is very clean and also there is lots of shade. read more
