Halcyon Park is on a dead end street, random passer byers would be rare. only the people in the neighborhood would know of this gem. the greens are immaculately trimmed. one can see the outsourced contractor working on the greens. it's a small park, 1.5 blocks in size. small parking area in front. children's play area in the rear, lots of greenery. a small area with a bbq pit and some benches. nice place to drop by to relax. not a destination. too small for a big gathering. read more

Another one of the Parks I run through in San Leandro is Halcyon Park. This is a very nice and spacious park, the bathrooms are fairly new, water fountains also. There's a paved path that goes around the park, where people walk and run around. The grassy area is big enough for soccer games, I've even seen football games here. There's also a big play area for kids and multiple BBQ areas. This is a very nice park, it's also pretty well hidden, so if you do find it, enjoy!!! read more

This is one of my favorite parks to go to in San Leandro. I nice little walk from home close enough to get outside. The park is well maintained, available restrooms, small strip of parking, playground, volleyball court and picnic benches available. The grass is nice and green so even spreading a blanket is fine enough to enjoy. Been to several parties here and it's always been a pleasant time. read more

I feel so fortunate to have walking access to this beautiful, neighborhood park that's really a hidden gem. It really is a great representation of the diversity in San Leandro. Most people won't realize there's a small park enclosed in a rather quiet part of town, and would even consider stopping here. If you want an escape though, this is one to consider. Each time I come home to visit/stay with my parents, I end up going to this park almost 4-5x a week. It's a simple park with lovely grass field with picnic tables and grilling pits scattered around. One side has a public restroom and the other is a playground for young children. People often come to walk or jog the circumference of the grass. Depending on the time of day you come, it'll be a completely different population. After the morning joggers, you'll find the older Asian crowd doing tai-chi, gossiping, and serving community realness. Later in the afternoon, families come to take over the picnic tables and start their BBQs. In the evening, you'll find a truly diverse group of folks doing outdoor activities, with a lot of Latinx folks taking over the volleyball court with games. What I love about this park is that is has never once felt dodgy or unsafe. There is usually someone else around and you can meet some really lovely neighbors passing the day here. Come drop by for a walk, catch up with family or a friend (safely), and enjoy. read more

This park is what I'd consider "in the cuts." You really don't drive by unless you know the area. There's a ton a open grass area to let your dog run if there's no one else around! The playground is fun and it even has a gated little kids playground. There are tables with bbq pits that you can reserve for parties which are always a hit given all the space. Yes, jumpers are allowed! Parking is a hassle if the spots are taken. Otherwise, it's a beautiful park! read more

Sitting here at the park as I am typing this and I am truly disappointed in the dog owners who walk their dogs here and leave their sh*t just sitting in the grass. This is such a beautiful park with lots of grass area to sit, picnic, and chill but there is sooooo much damn dog sh*t it's utterly disgusting. I, literally, had to put on some gloves and clear an area for me to set up. Y'all dog owners who bring your dogs here need to be more responsible. You are ruining it for everyone else when you fail to pick up after your dog. I am livid that my baby can't roam freely because I'm worried she might step in sh*t or fall on her face and land in sh*t. PICK UP AFTER YOUR DAMN DOGS OR DON'T BRING THEM HERE!! This is not your dogs bathroom. Other than that, there is a small parking lot but gets filled fast. There is street parking. Parks are nice and there are a few picnic tables placed around the park. It really is a hidden gem. Come bring your kids to play on the play structures or picnic on the tables provided but DO NOT come here to sit or lay in the grass until the city properly cleans it up or restricts irresponsible humans from bringing their dogs here to sh*t everywhere. read more

A beautiful wide open, clean and maintained field of green grass - makes you almost do not want to walk on it. It was a Friday evening where I was in the search of looking for a spot that my new companion may like to walk (off-leash) that is safe for the both of us. After reading a handful of reviews of other 4-legged companion owners, I was sold. The following day, sometime in the afternoon, I decided to make a quick short drive to the location. LOCATION Located in what seems to be low-income houses, I was a bit hesitant to continue on to this park as I felt that perhaps I had the wrong address. Once I finally arrive, I realize this is certainly a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough, a hole in the wall - you get what I mean. It was nice. PARKING If you were driving in a small sedan, you would think the only parking available is on the street. Once I looked around a bit more, I realize there is a small parking lot on the park's premises. Perhaps on a busy summer day they lot would be full, but on this cold winter Saturday morning/afternoon it was not. AREA What I first noticed was the wide open grass field, beautifully maintained. There is a cemented walkway around the field with multiple picnic areas. Opposite of the lot is a small, simple playground and a batting cage. A whole lot of trees which can provide a great amount of shade for sunny summers. Plenty of large trash cans and a public restroom (which I have not explored) to use. 4-LEGGEDS & 2-LEGGEDS There was approximately 10 people there during my visit. Jax (10yo, female, aussie) and I encountered 4 4-leggeds and they were all friendlies along with their humans. There were a handful of children there and they seem to do their own thing - play. VERDICT I will definitely return again. I think there are so areas in which Jax wishes to explore :) read more

Perfect for my toddler! This park is one of the best I've seen in a long time. It's well maintained, clean, modern, and safe. All things considered, safety is important when I'm a single young woman pushing a baby stroller down the walk way. It's really great that there's a special section specific for toddlers (ages 2-5 yrs). No hard surface, and lots of things for my daughter to explore. We've come here nearly every day this week!! I just moved and was looking for somewhere to walk my dog besides just the neighborhood. I was so happy to find this cute little park just around the corner. It is a decent size. Large enough for at least three soccer teams to use it as a practice place! They also have everything you need for a family gathering. Benches, BBQs, bathrooms, water fountains, basketball courts, and at least three play structures for kids to play on. They have some interesting new and engaging play structures, too. A perfect little paved pathway surrounding the park for people to exercise, walk their dog, or go on a date. read more

We love the fantastic play area with the most creative, cool play equipment I've seen. My daughter has a blast there every time we go. Plus, plenty of benches for the parents, and a tot area that's fenced in (only one way in or out)... 5 stars. This place really comes alive in the evenings with lots of families, kids running all around, soccer games. A very happy place. And, great sushi at Fat Fish just down the street. read more

This park is one of the best kept secrets in the Hayward/San Leandro/Castro Valley area. There is a "big kids" playground and a toddler playground - the toddler area is enclosed by a gate. Both playgrounds have the usual swings & slides, but they have LOTS of other play structures that are unique and just totally different from any other park I've been to in the area. My one-year-old loved it. Plus there is lots of open grass space, and lots of concrete/walkways (my bambino had just learned to walk and was all over the place). There was hardly anybody there on a beautiful Sunday and the people that were there were super nice and friendly. A group of about 10 people showed up and were blowing bubbles for their kids and, of course, all the other kids flocked over to them to play with the bubbles too. Everyone was laughing and having a good time. This place is closer to me than Castro Valley Community Park, so I think I will be frequenting here more often :) read more
