Mike is amazing! He was the first of multiple painting agencies to respond to my project inquiry. He gave me a tentative quote right away, which gave me something to anchor against and a sense of what to expect. He said he'd give me a final quote right after I sent him pictures of the cabinets. Once he received those, he promptly advised me not to waste my money painting laminate cabinets. He gave me a very detailed logical explanation including pictures of how it will bubble up later. We recently updated our entire house including cabinets. I was extremely satisfied with every contractor and their crews that came in and out. However, Mike and his team were by far the best. I was hesitant to reach out because of the (what I will now 100% confirm are faux) reviews that he isn't responsive. I called him and he texted me right away saying he will call me back within the hour. Not only did he call me back, but he was THE most responsive throughout our entire home renovation process. He responded to calls and texts immediately. He provided frequent updates throughout each day, sent pictures and was extremely helpful coordinating all aspects of his work. As I previously stated, his work was phenomenal. What intrigued me to move forward was a prior comment that "the cabinets looked new". I will confirm this statement - our cabinets look BRAND NEW. I had a great experience working with Mike (the owner) and his team from Greenworks Painting. Everyone I spoke/worked with were professional, knowledgable and skilled. I highly recommend! I initially began working with Greenworks to have kitchen cabinets repainted in a condo I was purchasing in Chicago. After shopping around and reviewing various quotes and reviews, I ended up selecting Greenworks because of their responsiveness and generally favorable reviews. I have since come to learn that many (if not all) of the negative reviews are from fake reviewers. Mike's guy, Randy, arrived on time each day and provided a detailed explanation of what he was doing and the estimated time frame for the cabinets. The finished product looks awesome and the workmanship was top notch. Mike and Randy also convinced me to have our deck rehabbed as it was showing some serious signs of wear and tear after years of neglect. Boy am I glad I did. Just after the cleaning and power washing the deck looked 100x better and now that the stain is on the wood, I know the deck is protected and ready for the summer. But they don't serve predominantly black areas yet they brand themselves as "serving Chicago". Here's a tip: the Southside IS Chicago. Greenworks just refinished my kitchen cabinets and island, working around the other contractors doing countertops, etc. The results were terrific - my 12 year old cabinets look brand new. Two real estate agents went through (separately) yesterday and each one stopped to ask "who did these cabinets? They did a really great job." They seemed genuinely impressed. The team was great to work with. Carlos the PM was readily available, kept me informed, and came to the site each day to make sure everything was as expected. He even did a perfect touch-up repair on marks left by another contractor. These are great people who take pride in doing great work. I can't recommend them highly enough. We had a great experience with Mike and Jeff. We have a huge deck and a balcony with wood expose to both east and west. After a year, i can already see some damages. I had absolutely little knowledge of how staining deck could be done and too lazy to search on my own. My neighbor started a group email to ask people to join as a group to keep the cost low. Can I give 6 Stars? I was suggested to give Greenworks a call for a project I've been putting off. I needed a few walls painted (outside and inside) with various shades. I almost did this myself. Thank God I called. In no particular order, why I give 5 stars: 1. My plan was backwards. If I did it my way, I would wasted a lot of time. 2. Mike was very informative, he gladly walked me through the process. 3. His crew was punctual, professional and the outcome met my expectations. 4. I am so glad I found these guys on here. Most people told me - good luck finding a painter at the last minute in a busy moving season. Lots of companies were booking in August or later as I was calling around, trying to get paint done before moving furniture in. I was so lucky I reached Carlos. He is the main person handling the jobs now since Mike is kind of off work / doing back-office work with paternity leave. Carlos estimated from my floor plan & photos of the walls on the same phone call, he got back to me right away every time I had to get in touch with him about scheduling, elevator availability or parking and other details. Mike helped with the payment & getting the right color matched from a Sherwin Williams color I had previously picked out. They'll use Sherwin, but there were a few advantages of Benjamin Moore in my case. When there was some confusion in my local BM store about matching the SW color, Mike just called them & it was sorted out in a minute. Even though Mike is on leave, he still took the time to talk with me at length about what paint to get because I was concerned with VOCs. I have had migraines from paint in new apartments in the past & chemical smells give me headaches. It turned out that Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec 500 was fine - even though there is another one that is twice as expensive (Natura). Both are 0 VOC & Benjamin Moore sells Natura as "odorless" but Ultra Spec barely smelled like anything (Natura smelled a little strange in the can). I read too may complaints online about "Harmony" (zero VOC) from Sherwin & Mike was not a fan of it either. He didn't mind talking through all the brands and online reviews of the different lines so I could pick the right one. Also, the crew was incredibly fast. Another company wanted 4 days. I'm not sure why. This crew did it in 5 hours! And the price wasn't that bad. They were basically in the middle of the estimates, maybe lower than 2 and higher than 1 (none of whom could do it until July anyway except them). Anyway, it looks so much better now. I don't think I see one drop out of place (and I had a lot of trim & moldings to go around). I wish we painted more rooms if I knew they were this good. The pics don't really do it justice but it is really good. Brief update - I haven't had a single headache from Ultra Spec 500 from Benjamin Moore. It had zero odor around 7-10 days, without even opening windows. It has a very mild / minor smell in the first week which didn't give me any headaches at all. They also insisted on cash only so that means they are not reporting this income. They do take quickpay, just for me they insisted on cash. If you don't mind all of that the work quality was good. Right before the painters got there my apartment was spotless as nobody was living there, clean floors, clean counters, no garbage anywhere, so the Manager lied about the place being a mess when they got there. The job was to remove all loose rust and paint the 6 exterior metal balconies of our condominium walk-up. It had been at least 10 years since anything was done so it was long overdue and Im glad I asked mike and his team. Originally, work was going to commence in late fall 2021, however due to unfavorable weather, the job needed to be postponed 6 months later this past spring. Despite ridiculous inflation, he honored the prices quoted then which was much appreciated. Mike was also patient in taking time explaining many things about the process and balcony maintenance with me as well. Finally, our project used a specialized machine which is rarely needed for these type of projects. Mike was gracious to take care of all the logistical hassles (and trust me, there were many unexpected ones) of renting and using it. Unfortunately, for various reasons, he was not able to do our project, but generously spent time with me on the phone explaining the very best methods for doing the tricky woodwork. This guy is truly an expert in wood re finishing, staining and painting. He knows the best methods and materials to use and freely explained the methods to me. I was then able to use this information to find a good painting contractor. (Many of them gave me quotes, but were not nearly as experienced or knowledgeable about wood restraining as Mike.)
