This office deserves a 1. The dental hygienist and Dr. need more training on caring for kids with special needs. They are rude and don't try to explain things to the kids. I ended up explaining to the dr that she was special needs and gets overstimulated and she just stood there and acted like she didn't care.They ended up hurting my kids mouth shoving a plastic x-ray thing in her mouth. My son has come to here for 10 yrs. Dr Mary is great with kids.

First time to the office after relocation concerning permanent teeth grew out with baby teeth standing still for my 7-yr-old. Neither an examination was given, e.g., a X-ray which is typical for a new patient nor dental information, especially that related to the concern of this visit was requested from the previous pediatric dentist (who did an excellent job in the past 5 years). Dr Mary went straight to the extraction of two bottom front teeth after a look into his mouth. A local anesthetic was injected right after topical anesthetic was applied, which was different from previous experience where the topical one took a bit time to take effect. Topical anesthetic didn't work so he felt strong pain instantaneously when the abnormally large (comparing to all the local anesthetic I had ) needle inserted. It took 3 adults to put him down to finish the injection which took abnormally long. He was bleeding badly and crying desperately and my heart was broken. He was such a strong and brave boy that he agreed to lay down again for the extraction after allowing some time to calm down. Ironically, neither the topical nor the local anesthetic seemed work and he suffered from another deadly pain of extracting the firmly attached front teeth. Dr Mary is the only dentist in the office and she is busy travelling among all rooms seeing patients with various needs. She doesn't have the time to talk with your kid and explain what is gonna happen and prepare your kid ready for the procedure. My son had a few procedures done with his previous dentist and he had never had a complaint about it, not to mention any pain or tear. It was just a heart-breaking experience today. read more

Greer Pediatric Dental Care is an amazing pediatric dental office to take your little ones to! My two young children absolutely love going to have their teeth cleaned and vist with Dr. Mary and her team members! When you first arrive your children are able to play with a train/lego table or the Ipad station. Once they are called back they are able to choose a favorite movie or cartoon to watch while having their cleanings done. It is a very upbeat office where every team member joins in to make sure your visit is excellent. While Dr. Mary is doing the exam she sings and talks with your children to make them feel welcome and comfortable. She treats your child just as she would her own. She also takes the time to get to know you at your visits and ask how you have been since last seeing you. We recommend Dr. Mary and her office to everyone we know! read more

We had the most horrifying experience here. Dr. Mary traumatized my grandson. She had his head pinned under her arm while she drilled. Even while my son screamed that it hurt she continues to drill and never offered any addition sedation. I would NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone. We have 2 little girls and are very happy with Dr. Okuley! Both of our girls were terrified, of course, but the staff and Dr. Okuley do a great job of making them feel comfortable and at ease. We've been taking our 2 girls to Dr. Mary from the beginning. She and her staff are amazing to the point where our oldest is now excited about her trips there! While our youngest still gets upset about any doctor getting too close (remnants of shots from regular pediatrician visits) she has a great time pre and post the actual mouth time. Dr. Mary and her staff are always extremely patient and helpful in trying to help kids calm down and does it in a playful manner (wen singing Disney songs in the process (this mornings were Ariel and Olaf - yes, I know them that well). If I could choose her and her staff as my main source of personal dental care, I wouldn't think twice about it - they're that good! My kids have been going to Dr Mary's office for 6 years and we love it more every time we go in for visits . Recently at their dental visit we noticed they updated there reception area. The modern fast check in made it super easy to check in with the front desk with Ale'. We were called back super fast by her amazing assistant ,Matti and Candice , to have my kids teeth cleaned , they made my kids extremely comfort with letting them watch a favorite show on the tv . They explained things to them ,in their terms ,to encourage good home care for their teeth . When all completed Dr Mary came into the room for exams so happy and cheerful .She took her time to talk to kids are what has been going on and telling them their teeth was so shiny and clean and left them excited about visit and coming back next time. No visit is complete without a treasure box visit for kids while Melissa helping us set up next visit . I've been taking my daughter here since she was a baby. It was right before her 1st birthday and I was scared to death because when I woke her up her gums were swollen and purple! I immediately called the first dentist I seen on Google. They were happy to take a look at her. When I got there the everyone was nice and very polite. The dentist assured me it wasn't a good situation but wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. She provided me with lost of information and the nessasry prescriptions to help my daughter get better. Cleared up within the week and she has had healthy teeth ever since. Even though my daughter is afraid of the going to the dentist Dr. Mary and all of her staff always make me feel like they care about any concerns I have. She will cry and not want to watch the video she picked out. But Dr. Mary even sings to her! I never plan on taking my daughter anywhere else! My 8 year old son was referred to Dr. Okuley by Gentle Dental care who was unable to provide the necessary/needed care for my child. Dr. Okuley and staff met and exceeded my expectations. My son had his tooth extracted and did not cry. He is looking forward in getting his teeth cleaned in 6 months. VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE! Greer pediatric dental care is the best. I take my two children to see Dr. Mary and they love her. My son was not always the best patient. But Dr. Mary and her staff still made each visit special. And this last visit, he did not cry. He sat in the chair like a big boy and let the assistant clean his teeth and he was able to get his X-rays done this time. All with NO TEARS!! I took my 1 year old and 2 year old in today for their first visit and they did amazing. The front office was friendly, the dental hygenist was informative and gentle and was really good with children. The doctor was super nice and gave me all kinds of good information and just awesome! I don't know how else to put it except I just had an awesome experience. My neighbor referred me to her. I definitely recommend this practice for your little ones. The waiting room alone is of course kid-friendly but they have a special area with like I pads and stuff the bigger kids can play with and of course toys for the little ones my kids had a ball. I took 2 of my 3 children there a few weeks ago, and was so impressed I brought in my third, who is 11 and thinks he's "too old" for a pediatric dentist. Dr. Mary is thorough, kind, and gentle, and she has a way of talking to keep the kids entertained and distracted even while pulling a tooth! I have driven past the billboards and the dental office many times and heard that the first initial exam for a child before the age of 2 was free. I thought great! It seemed like a kid-friendly place...well I'm glad it was free. The front office was great, the dental assistant was great, however Dr. Mary Okuley was not. We were one of the first few appointments that morning and she struts over to where we are sitting and I felt like the appointment was rushed. Dr. Okuley lectured me on proper eating/drinking for toddlers and rushed through the exam with my son, who was not happy about someone looking in his mouth. I felt she was very unprofessional "lecturing" me about probably eating habits. I AM A EDUCATED MINORITY AND I DO NOT LET MY CHILD "GRAZE" ALL DAY!!! I am NEVER someone who plays the "race" card however I felt that she was talking down to me. She was quite rude and had some attitude. My son has three sit down meals and one snack a day, maybe two snacks on the weekends and he drinks milk and WATERED down juice (50%, 50%). I felt she was rude talking over me and stating that children should ONLY drink milk and water, which is understandable. I believe in starting healthy eating habits early. I felt like I had to defend myself against her and I COULDN'T EVEN GET A WORD IN. She was unprofessional and I took offense to most of her comments regarding childhood obesity, eating habits and then stating my son "should be okay since you're small framed". I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS OFFICE. If it wasn't for Dr. Okuley, I would be returning, the staff was great, the dentist was UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

2 years ago my then 20 month old son broke his tooth over New Year's weekend. Even thought Greer Pediatric Dental was closed, Dr. Okulay made a special trip in to examine and treat his tooth. She was beyond professional, and went out of her way to fix and save the tooth. She is very child-centered, and patiently does whatever is necessary to calm the child and put them at ease. As a parent, I felt she really took the time to educate me on current dental trends and to answer any and all questions I had. I have never felt rushed or like a "number" as I have felt in other offices. We have been so impressed with her practice, that even though we have moved 4 hours away, we try to return to her office whenever possible. I highly recommend her!!! read more

I have been taking my son to Greer Pediatric Dental care for the last couple years. He is now 5 years old and does great at the dentist! Today I took my daughter in for the first time who is 1. We had my son's and daughter's appointments scheduled at the same time which I think is an awesome idea! However, I felt that the dental assistants were more concerned with carrying on personal conversations than doing their jobs. I think Dr.Okuley is wonderful but this has been the second time I have been extremely unsatisfied with the dental assistants. I plan on taking them back just because how pleased I am with Dr.Okuley but if we continue to have this problem with the assistants we will look for another dentist. read more

I went to Dr. Okuley for a second opinion as I was skeptical with our regular dentist on what needed to be done to fill a cavity for my 3 year old. I am so thankful that I did visit her! She was very understanding and respectful of what type of sedation (or not) I felt was right for my toddler. While another dentist tried to pressure me, Dr. Okuley was the exact opposite, very understanding, honest and she took time to get my 3 year old comfortable with the surroundings. She even gave him a sweet hug. Her assistants were very kind and patient as well. When it came time for procedure to fill cavity, I opted to use the nitrous gas and Dr. Okuley had the filling done in about three minutes. My son was pretty much not happy and I had to hold his hands down (nothing new for me!) I'll just say she earned the money on him! But she assured me that he did great and I feel very confident in her work. I want to sincerely thank Dr. Okuley for her great work, professional demeanor and affordable care. She relieved my anxieties. I also wanted to comment in regards to Julie Y.: ALL dentists go over proper eating and drinking habits with parents. I appreciate this as I really didn't realize how important it was to not let my son walk around with milk in a sippy cup all day. I would bet any pediatric dentist you visit will go over these preventative measures with you. read more

I take my children to see Dr Mary Okuley and her wonderful staff at Greer Pediatric Dental Care.From start to finish it was a great experience , where they treat you as family and friends not just another patient. The front office staff was extremely friendly making it so easy to schedule appointment which I had a early morning appointment to accommidate my husband and my work schedules. The reception area is very kid friendly having a Ipad station ,which was great for my five year old . They also a book section for the younger ages like my infant child. Older children are not forgotten with a game room. We were seen very quick and the dental assitant my children had was very friendly and great with children.My oldest had to have x-rays done and it was made very easy unlike her last dentist office experience x-rays would always be the time of discomfort a few tears shed but not here. The assistant gave me great education on how to treat my children with preventative care for both of my children.Dr Mary came to see my children in a timely manner. She was very professional and educational with supporting my option to breastfeed my youngest . Discussed teeth eruption timing and fluoride usage , and also preventative measure such as sealants for my daughter's six year molars. Dr Mary was amazing to say the least and able to fit my daughter in so do her sealant after her cleaning appointment to do her sealants.
