Here's the thing - thanks to the maternal and paternal gene pool, I'm never going to have a movie-star smile. Dr. L. has been my dentist for about 5 years now (since I retired from the military) and has been quite patient with my dental issues. He took the time a to develop several options for long-term dental care; from fix as we go to full overhaul, and he understands what my dental insurance will, and will not, cover and taken that into consideration. His front office team is exceptional at fitting in emergency visits; sadly I am pretty good at breaking fillings and the occasional crown, Dr L. and his team are good at getting me in to fix them - often on the same day as I've called. The office moved a couple of months ago, so they are now in a modern, shiny-clean facility, but they still have very convenient access to the Rosslyn metro stop and one of the Pentagon shuttles. Good dentists with hygienists and a front desk staff that are all polite, friendly, and caring are hard to find. I did a bit of "sampling" in the local area after I retired from the military...this where I stopped and where I plan to stay. read more

A trustworthy dental practice with excellent staff. I had a bad experience at another practice a few years back and then didn't go back to the dentist for years. I finally built up the courage to go back to a dentist and read the positive reviews and have been very pleased so far. I was long overdue and the first apt around the end of 2020 was a rough teeth cleaning. My dental hygienist (I think her name was Janice) was super kind and has helped me get back to normal. Doctor Bobbio did a great job on some fillings a little later and when there was work they didn't feel comfortable doing, she sent me to an endodontist specialist for a second opinion, which I really appreciated. Just had my second cleaning apt there and the dental hygienist Arlene (sorry about the spelling!) was great! Super kind helpful and skilled. Glad I found a practice in this area I like! Dr. LaVecchia's office was recommended to me by a friend that gets really uncomfortable and nervous for doctors visits. She was not exaggerating when she said the entire office was friendly and put her at ease. I visited about a year or so ago but wasn't able to continue due to insurance. Now that I have reliable insurance to cover me, I won't go anywhere else. Melinda was efficient but still took care while flossing. Unlike other hygienists that just yank the floss through, she actually made sure the floss didn't cut up my gums despite being sensitive. I'm not a huge fan of teeth cleaning, but I'm not dreading my appointment in 6 months and that's saying something! Dr. LaVecchia is just incredible. You can tell he's genuinely kind and very aware of how important it is for people to understand their options and costs associated. It feels good to find a dentist office I can trust. read more

Did not get good explanation as to why a certain treatment was recommended. During the pandemic, I have been very cautious. The use of PPE, and the sanitation precautions went above and beyond expectations. I've never been particularly fond of going to the dentist, but this office is outstanding. From making the appointment to actual treatment, it was a surprisingly pleasant experience. They take a variety of insurance, and also accept Care Credit. They're also up front about the charges you can expect, and have flexible treatment options. The staff is fantastic. Friendly, professional, and really good at explaining what's going on with your mouth. From arrival through departure, they were excellent and thoughtful in their approach. The dental work I had done was shockingly painless, and the offered a comprehensive overview of what needed to be done and why would need to be done in the future. I have been going to this office for several years. I have a three-month-old at home and I have made it clear to this office that I prefer dental x-rays every three years. I went in today leaving my three month old in the care of my husband who was short on time and needed to get to work. They brought me back and I was chatting with the dental hygienist (whom I like very much) and then she mentioned we would do x-rays today and I politely declined. I was very nice about it, but said I would not be needing them today. She explained it had been two years since I had them and I said I would like to wait another year. I needed to get home to my son, I have very healthy teeth, and I came in for a cleaning. She told me to wait a moment and she went back and got the dentist and he straight up dismissed me. I got up and left without any teeth cleaning, etc., completely wasting my time, not explaining anything to me, totally unprofessional and I quite frankly am looking forward to finding a new dentist. This one is one I highly suggest you steer clear of. If you have any sort of anxiety about the dentist, if you believe that you should have control of your own healthcare, or if you're looking for a professional setting this is not the place for you. Truthfully it felt like they were just doing it so they could collect the insurance money. They absolutely, completely wasted my time, I paid to park today, I left my infant son at home and my husband was late to work. I'm furious--they lost two patients today, myself and my husband. I'm sure they will just replace me someone they can bill for x-rays annually. That's fine that's their decision, but I've had enough and I do not recommend this office. read more

I have been going to Dr. Levecchia for about two years now, and I have nothing but great things to say about him and the whole practice! The entire staff is friendly and welcoming, and makes going to the dentist a breeze! Each hygienist that has worked with me has been warm and talkative which makes the flossing and cleaning go by super fast! Then Dr. Levecchia comes and makes sure everything looks good and answers any questions I might have! He's brief and thorough and makes my visits easy. They are always on time with appointments, and make sure my insurance and everything is up to date and accurate so I don't have to deal with any of that myself. Highly recommend! Outstanding office. I was greeted promptly and cheerfully, went back to a chair within moments of my scheduled appointment, and had a courteous, thorough, and professional experience with everyone. This is a preventative dentistry office. I think that's really important - save you teeth before they're in trouble. During the cleaning, we found some things to improve, and the very next day had an appointment to do them. Costs were well-explained. No surprises. Second appointment even better than the first. Professional, thorough, friendly. Treated me like a partner in my care. Explained every step. Very (very) minimal discomfort that was gone within 24 hours. Got a follow-up letter welcoming me to the practice a few days later. It's nice to get that personal touch. If you're looking for a place to get good care in a welcoming, convenient, and deeply proficient environment, this is your new dentist. I will be back! read more

Easy to make an appointment. Friendly service. Excellent care when I required care quickly.

This practice is unfortunately sales first, health second, and very rude and unprofessional after the first intro visit: A coworker recommended this place after being sexually harassed at my prior dental provider. The first visit was ideal. They addressed my concerns, said they weren't concerns as prior provider insisted, and explained everything with and not at me. The biggest take away was how allegedly "excellent" my teeth looked, and how nothing needed to be done now or for the foreseeable future. We did exams and x-rays to confirm. The second visit was totally different. They changed their opinion 180, saying nothing had changed since the prior visit 6 months ago, but then proceeded to strongly insist upon a very long shopping list of extremely expensive and invasive procedures (including jaw surgery, aligners, root canals and crowns). One of the less invasive items was a mouth guard. The hygienist (I forget her name - white, middle aged, thin, dirty blond with glasses) said I needed one, and asking if I ever used one. I said I use a soft guard now and a harder guard when younger. I said both were over the counter / no prescription / affordable and effective, and gotten off Amazon. I said this twice to confirm that was what she was suggesting, upon which she said nothing. Then when the dentist (Dr. Bobbio) came in, the dentist began making plans to get me fitted for one, upon which I said that'd be a first. The hygienist very unprofessionally blew up, getting red in the face, and said I had lied about the mouth guard situation, upon which I took a breath and slowly replayed the above. The dentist did nothing and sided with the hygienist. They kept shaking their heads like a bad movie of a kid in the principals' office or cops investigating a criminal. They then proceeded to show a custom made hard guard, repeating five times that "these aren't your teeth", in a very condescending and animated tone. I wanted to say "do you think I'm stupid or something?", but remained silent for the full spiel, nodding and actively listening. I was in shock at the unprofessionalism and really starting to question my coworker's opinion. They then repeated the shopping list, saying I was "probably unable to process it, for someone like you" (wtf does that even mean?). They were adement about me "making up your mind" and telling them ASAP so they could get me scheduled for all procedures. I asked if they were time sensitive, and they said no. Bad sign. I took a breath and said I'd think over it, thanked them for the info, and left. I then told my story to a family friend who's a dentist, who said he'd like to see my x-rays and notes of the visit. The front desk was even more rude (the secretary with the long hair and lake lashes has a huge attitude problem and puts zero effort into hiding it) and refused for three weeks to give me a copy of my records to me (which is a patient right), and continued to ask why I wanted them and said they needed to discuss emailing me a copy of my records with management. I had to remind them of this right and then they finally shared them. When I changed jobs, I was glad that meant changing dentists, and even then they refused to transfer records to the new dentist. So yes, not sexual harassment. No, not ideal. DC is full of other options and I advise strongly to go to them and not to Dr. Bobbio and co. read more

I would give them 10 stars if I could. Dr. LaVecchia and the hygienists and staff at the office are all so amazing that I'm taking time out of my day on my birthday to write this review. While I did not have an appointment today (because who would make a dentist appointment on their birthday?), I did get a lovely birthday message from them. It reminded me that I had been wanting to share a review for them for years. I have gone to Dr. LaVecchia's office since 2011. It's hands down the best dental office I've ever been to. As a child, I never liked the dentist's office, and that feeling continued into my adulthood, until I started going to Dr. LaVecchia's office. Both Leni and Melinda have been my hygienists - and they are both delightful. I am not a fan of the noise that some of the cleaning tools make, and they are very accommodating and allow me time to set up my headphones and turn up my music to drown out the noise of cleaning tools. They tap my shoulder when they need to speak to me so that I can take my earbuds out. I also have nothing but amazing things to say about Angelika at the front desk. Everyone at front desk is kind, but Angelika goes out of her way to be extra kind and welcoming. Another plus is the free pens and Chapstick at the front desk. They didn't go cheap for their give-away swag. The pens write beautifully and the Chapstick works well and comes in many flavors! read more

Mixed feelings. Right before I ended my DC sabbatical, I decided to have my teeth cleaned so I wouldn't have to worry about searching for a new dentist for a bit. This office came highly recommended by my insurance company and Yelpers, plus I had a week of Georgetown/Rosslyn trips planned so it would be convenient. The office is very clean and modern. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and offered hot tea or bottled water. The hot tea was welcomed since the day was unfortunately raining and chilly. I had enough time to drink my tea, clean the rain off myself in the facilities and complete new patient forms before I was called for my cleaning. Great! Very minimal wait. A very pretty and energetic hygienist tended to my teeth from that point on. Due to pain from my endometriosis and holding stress in my jaw anyway, I was told I have a spot where enamel has cracked due to nightly teeth grinding. I was impressed that I was not only giving by the hygienist a list of options for prevention and repair but some dietary changes I can make to help ease my jaw. Yay, another wonderful plus. All the positives aside, the negatives were just overwhelming for me. This was the first office I'd ever been to that I felt was focused on sales first, and dental needs second. To start, in the exam room, the tele was 100% dedicated to advertisements for additional services for the office. Finally, when the dentist came in, he seemed grossly uninterested in talking to me as soon as he heard it was my last week in DC. Like a switch was turned off that read, no money to be made here! I was trying to ask questions concerning the night grinding and he was basically running out the room. Maybe I'm just very old fashioned. I definitely prefer a significantly less modern, less flashy yet traditional office, without televisions, and dentist sits and talks with you and at least acts like they care to the setting this office provides. I can see how many would love this office though, so don't take my word for it. Anyway, it wasn't a bad experience, just not my cup of tea and I won't return nor recommend to my NoVa friends and family...but wish them great luck in their sales goals. read more

I hate and am afraid of dentists. But Dr G. LaVecchia is friendly, patient and kind. The hygienist here is wonderful. She managed to make me relax during teeth cleaning. The office is well lit, clean, and welcoming. The staff at the reception desk (receptionist and those who help you out at the end of your visit including make your next appointment) are all wonderful. They have a screen showing you relaxing natural images as you are being treated. They also advertise that they have iPads for you to use while you are there, though I haven't taken advantage of that service. The location is really convenient, and it's next door to the small Thai restaurant. read more

Dr. LaVecchia is hands-down the best dentist in the DC area. He is extremely patient and doesn't force you into procedures and things without fully explaining EVERYTHING and letting you make your own decisions. The office staff is extremely friendly and courteous. They also send you text message reminders for your appointments, which is really awesome (I hate when drs. call while you are at work, so this is perfect.) They have also been really accommodating and flexible in terms of scheduling appointments. In terms of quality of work, I couldn't be happier. I have had some may-jah tooth issues (I knocked my front tooth out several years ago and its been an uphill battle with caps, gum infections, root canal, etc.) Dr. LaVecchia has done a fantastic job of making my smile perfect! The best dentist I've ever had! Dr. LaVecchia and his amazing team saw me as a new patient for an emergency procedure last month. Even though I'd never been to his office and was not a current patient, he made space for me on his calendar (w/in 24 hours of my initial call) and saw me promptly when I arrived. I've had a life-long fear of dentists (and some pretty harrowing experiences), but Dr. LaVecchia and his team put my fears to rest. They communicated with me constantly during the procedure and ensured I remained pain-free for the duration. Dr. LaVecchia even followed up with a hand written note several days after my visit. Such a nice touch! Today I visited the office for a routine cleaning and dental check-up and my experience was equally wonderful. Irene, the hygienist did an impeccable job and kept me calm throughout the cleaning. Dr. LaVecchia was fantastic, and explained his findings and recommendations thoroughly. I'm pretty picky with dentists and I must say, Dr. LaVecchia and his staff are the absolute best I've found in the DMV. I've been going for about a year now (after researching other Yelp reviews) and am not only routinely pleasantly impressed with the delicacy and thoroughness in which the dental hygienists do my cleanings, but they're all truly lovely people and a lot of fun. In addition, and most importantly, I'm in the process of having some major work done and I feel 100% comfortable trusting Dr. LaVecchia. He's gone out of his way to give me all of the information I needed to make an informed decision and was generous with his time in answering my millions of nervous questions. I've had a lifelong fear of dentists and came to this office after probably 8 years (!) of not going to the dentist. Needless to say, I had quite a bit of work cut out for me after that first visit. Root scaling (which they call a "deep cleaning" which sounds much nicer) and several cavities. I was definitely scared and also worried about the cost but I never felt judged by Dr. Greg or any of the hygienists. The office staff worked with me and my insurance to make sure I had a full quote before we proceeded. I did end up overpaying up front but got a prompt refund once everything processed through my insurance. Anyway, I still can't say I LIKE going to the dentist, but I'm still a patient here 5 years later and would continue to come here even if I moved out of the neighborhood. I've mostly been a patient of Dr. Greg (he's great) but have also seen Dr. Louis on occasion and he's nice too. I have had many hygienists over the years and they are all wonderful. Recently I have been seeing Arlene and she is super friendly and gentle (all things considered!) with the cleaning. I will probably always get nervous about the dentist but I know I am in good hands here! read more
