UPDATE: After my insurance company did all the work to tell me why my MRI was denied and what the Dr needed to say in order to get it approved, AND AFTER "Brittney" from his office PROMISED to "get this taken care of" NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT TAKE CARE OF IT, they didn't let me know they effed it up, waited to long, and got it denied for not requesting a review on time COMPLETE INCOMEPTENCE, ZERO COMMUNICATION, and they are crooks! Dr. Sobeck did a hip replacement on me in 2007 and till this day I have never had ONE issue. Fast forward to 2018. I had my right side done by a doctor I won't name. I have dislocated 11 times since then. I thought this other doctor was my only choice being I 100% have to have my THIRD surgery on the right side. My primary doctor just sent me a list of my choices and Dr. Sobeck is on the list, I'm literally crying in relief. Thank GOD! read more

This review is not about Dr Sobeck. The 3 times I saw him he has been patient, pleasant and knowledgeable, but his office help specifically receptionists and staff who puts you in the Drs office. It takes a few days and 2 messages to get a response from the staff. The 2 times I brought CDs and gave them to receptionist to show to dr. They didn't seem to be there. After I spoke up another nurse came in and they were able to locate the images. Dr remained calm throughout this debacle which speaks well of his calmness through a possible surgery. I would just worry whether his staff would have remembered to give him everything he needed to complete the surgery read more

Mistakes, Disorganization, and Unprofessionalism Would be a 1 star if I had more information about Sobeck's actual surgical qualities. I wish I wasn't character restricted for reviews. Leading into the surgery everyone was super helpful and organized. Sobeck himself was descriptive of the process, the surgery etc. He never answered my questions about why the tendon ruptured, or if my previous treatment had a role in this injury; but whatever I just wanted to get it fixed. Coming out of surgery began the worst few days of my life. I found out that the nerve block didn't work, and still have no idea why. Pain began at a 6 and slowly crept up to a can barely talk 8. I was begging the nurse for pain meds even if it makes me sick. Eventually they gave me IV Fentanyl which happily took the pain back to a 6. During the car ride home pain quickly climbed back to 8. At home I took the prescribed Percocet 10/325 one every 6 hours and it did nothing. For the next 24 or so hours, the pain sat at a 8-9 where all I could do is lay there in agony. My wife called Dr. Sobeck's nurse line that afternoon and left a message and we didn't get a call back until the following morning, to which the nurse told us to up the dosage to 2 pills every 4 hours. Luckily even though it didn't help the pain much, this huge dose made me stoned enough that I could sleep. For the following two days I would take two pills, be in pain for an hour, pass out for 3 hours, and wake up and try to eat and do it again. 2 weeks post-op we took the staples out and started having the conversation about how I get back on the mats asap; and every step of the way I didn't get the information I wanted. His timelines were washy and never had me feeling like I knew the path to rehabilitation. All I heard repeatedly was 'it will take about a year'. My physical therapist even said 'this is all you have?' to the PT order, which had no instructions or guidelines leaving both of us to adhere the general guidelines for this kind of injury. The knee immobilizer the ER gave me on the day of my injury was continually frustrating until the PT helped me sort it out. After my 5th or so request and complaining the immobilizer would slide around and not fit right, Sobeck tells me that no brace is going to fit right as 'You just have a fat leg' and didn't even look at the brace. I proceeded to ask my physical therapist to look at the brace, and the foam backing was simply off to the side not behind the knee. 5 weeks post-op I asked about the bruise on my knee (which no one called me back about), and why is it only on the previously injured side. He said don't worry about it and didn't answer my questions. At this point I'm almost able to walk and just want more guidance for what we can do at PT as they won't go faster than the general timeline without the doctor's clearance. In response Sobeck writes on a prescription pad saying gravity leg extensions and no weight bearing exercises, nothing more. Fast forward to 9 weeks post-surgery and I am far ahead of the recovery timeline. I hit traffic driving from OC, taking about 2.5 hours to arrive for my 10:15 appointment. I call at 9:45 saying there's a good chance I am going to be a little late; can we ask Dr. Sobeck if that's ok? Receptionist says they will call me back asap. No one calls. I arrive at 10:35 to the receptionist saying Dr Sobeck (who I see in the back still taking patients), cannot see me as he has an emergency surgery. Irritating but my fault I was late, when is the next appointment? 15 days from now. Super frustrated at this point, I then ask for the records guy that I talked to a month prior, as I have yet to receive anything in the mail. He comes up and says that he "Probably sent my records to the wrong address or something". At this point I just want my records so I can see a new doctor at 90 days, and proceed to wait 45 minutes for a copy of my radiology. Hopefully I don't have to go back. read more

Dr. Sobeck is indeed an exquisite orthopedic surgeon. However, he is unaware of the inefficiency of his Palmdale office staff.

I saw Dr. Sobeck for unexplained chronic knee pain that had me hobbling around, unable to use stairs. At first Dr. Sobeck was kind and professional, but when my MRI came back and did not readily explain the pain, he became dismissive, telling me, "You came to the wrong doctor," but he prescribed pain medication. After I followed his suggestion to see a Rheumatologist, I called and emailed Dr. Sobeck with follow-up questions for weeks, and never got a response. When I needed a refill of the pain medication, he did not respond to my repeated requests, causing me sudden withdrawl from narcotics without any guidance for weaning off, nor assistance in finding an alternative form of pain control. Dr. Sobeck might be a fine doctor for you if you have a broken bone or something torn, but he is not the guy to help with a mystery diagnosis. If you do go to Dr. Sobeck for surgery, make sure to discuss pain medication beforehand and make sure he is willing to prescribe you enough, and to give you a refill if necessary. read more

Best Dr. for broken bones. Dr. Sobeck knows his stuff. He saved me from having major surgery on my broken arm in July 2012. I was put in a comfortable cast that could be removed to shower. It took my arm one year before it completely mended. I broke my humerus in 3 places not fun at an over 50 + adult I recommend him highly. Who cares if you have to wait. It's the doctor that should be important. read more

i was first seen by Dr Sobeck last July 2018 for a fracture of my Rt radius, after healing and physical therapy Dr Sobeck ordered an MRI and found I had a complete tare in my rotator cuff. I was scheduled for surgery but 2 days before a woman ran a stop sign and i wound up in the hospital with 10 broken ribs, my left knee and ankle were injured not to mention all the bruising so my surgery had to be cancelled. I just had the surgery done July 17th 2019 and could not be happier with my surgery and outcome. Dr. Sobeck explained the procedure to me, he is a wonderful surgeon very caring. I was referred to Dr. Sobeck for hip injury that had happened at work. The initial exam went well. The doctor and his staff were very nice. He told me at that time he didn't think that was any type of tear and prescribed physical therapy. I went to physical therapy but it was not helping. I kept telling him at my appointments that therapy was not helping. He ordered an MRI of the hip which did not show any MAJOR abnormalities in the joint. Every time I went back for a follow up, he just said do more physical therapy and that it was just a sprain. So finally after months of physical therapy my workers comp insurance finally said they would not approve any more therapy. Since he was dead set that there was nothing wrong, my insurance and I decided to get a second opinion. The next doctor I saw immediately ordered an MRI with contrast to get a better view. Well........it showed that I did indeed have a labral tear in my hip that Dr. Sobeck insisted it could not be. Dr. Sobeck was very close minded with my injury which caused me to be in pain ALOT longer than needed. I eventually saw an orthopaedic surgeon that did surgery to fix the problem. If you have a workers comp injury, I do not suggest you go to Dr. Sobeck. Seemed like he just wanted to get paid by the insurance and didn't care much about the patient. read more

I just saw Dr. Greg Sobek last week after seeing a countless array of inept doctors lacking compassion and expertise. I went to him due to a referral after a series of disappointing experiences within my own medical HMO. I suffered an accident that included some neck damage and memory loss,as well as a painstaking pace of filling out forms with some missing information. Though the front office is bustling with activity, none of the women hurried me or made me feel bad about my inability to remember basic information. "That's fine!" I have been going to Dr. Sobeck for 10 years after I was injured at work. He has done 3 surgeries on my knee. I was able to walk to my car after surgery. One surgery required a 6" incision. The scar is barely visible. The different treatments he has done have allowed me to put off a knee replacement. When it is time for the replacement Dr. Sobeck is the only one that I will allow to do the surgery. I drive from Ventura County to his Sherman Oaks office to see him. I am usually in and out in 30 minutes. His staff has been with him as long as I have and they are friendly and very helpful. read more

I went to Dr. Sobeck with a complete ACL tear & partial MCL tear and I'm over 50. Age is important if you see Dr. Sobeck as he's among a trend of doctors who believe therapy is best suited for anyone over 50 who has ACL, MCL tears. I'm active and wasn't going to settle. Thank god I went for a second opinion and had a successful ACL reconstruction surgery, currently in PT, and on my way to being myself. read more

Costumer service is terrible. They never pick up their phone. And if they do they transfer me to "another" person in their office and the call drops then im stuck with the yoyo runaround. Like the lady on the phone can do it her self ex: making appointment or leaving a note for a doctor. They have so many people working at the front desk yet no one picks up phone. Dr. Sobeck is the best surgeon. He did surgery on both my son and my Dad. Both had great outcomes and are healthy and healed. My Dad has had multiple orthoepaedic surgeries and needed a skilled surgeon. Not only did Dr. Sobeck take on the surgery that another doctor said could not be done, he fixed the previous issues my Dad had from prior surgeries. He also did it in a shorter time which was great since my Dad does not do well under anesthesia. I don't understand the reviews for the wait and the validation. I know his office is busy, it is every time we have been. But two of those times I called that day and they said they could fit us in as long as we are ok waiting. I would rather wait an extra hour to see someone that days than to be fit in on a schedule but have to wait for a week for that appointment. Also, new flash! He is a surgeon. I would rather he take his time and do the surgeries correctly and have people wait in the office than have a doctor rush through surgery so that he is on time for your afternoon office check up.
