TL;DR: To have a great experience, don't talk to him while he's scanning you. He's the top fetal ultrasound doctor. He trains people. He needs to concentrate. He's not Google. If he finds something you need to know, he'll tell you when he's finished. Sometimes he'll say something out loud to an assistant-that is for them to notate the chart. Don't use it as a cue to comment or ask questions. When he finishes scanning, measuring, and charting, he'll answer your questions. He'll send all his findings to your OB/Gyn who should answer any questions. His expertise is scanning fetuses. He's not an obstetrician or a gynecologist. It's been a very long time but I was under Dr. Devore's care for both pregnancies. Baby 1 had kidney measurements that needed to be monitored from 16-26 weeks. He explained the statistical risk in a tone that suggested he had to give this speech all day every day. My husband is a statistics guy so when he asked a specific question about how one finding on the scan raised a statistical risk 4x, it was like Dr's whole vibe changed. Like he was talking to someone who knew what numbers actually do and don't mean and he clearly likes talking to people like that. Up to that point he was kinda cold and scary. He snapped at an assistant about a spelling error on a chart in front of us and that was awkward. Not a good sign that she was terrified. For second baby I had low amniotic fluid measurements in the final trimester so I had to go in 3x a week the last 3 weeks. I saw an assistant for that part and she was so lovely. I was actually sad the day I went in and the Dr said no more measurements, time to induce because I knew I'd never see her again. Dr. Devore was indifferent when everything looked normal but as soon as he diagnosed the fluid problem he became solicitous and comforting and warm. I just had my first appointment with Dr DeVore and I was also shocked at the reviews. I called and scheduled my appointment no issues and called the day before to confirm my appointment time as well. Everyone I spoke to was very kind. The nurses were polite and courteous. We didn't wait a long time to see the doctor and started our appointment on time. Dr DeVore took his time to explain everything to us and took the time to answer any questions we had. He didn't rush or rush us. One thing to note about the location of the office that does not reflect on Dr Devore is that parking is challenging. I would recommend to allocate at least 30mins to find parking. We parked at the parking structure and you do need to pay. There is 2hr street parking but that can also be difficult to find. I saw Dr. Epstein twice during my pregnancy so far, once for the Down syndrome screening and once again for my anatomy ultrasound. The office itself is very homey and welcoming. They have a restroom by the door for the pregnant ladies to use. Outside their office, there are more chairs placed at least 6 feet apart for you and your guest to sit. The staff were always very friendly. The wait can be about 30 minutes-45 mins after your appointment though. Dr. Epstein himself was very nice and informative. He explains what you're seeing as he is using the ultrasound. There's a few spots on the street to park for free for a certain amount of time and a parking lot you can park in for free for 15mins, but then it's $1.50 every 30 minutes, and $3 every hour. read more

Scheduleing/ care / communication all terrible. You have to call them to confirm YOUR appts. They are very irregular & unpunctual with patients info. Care. Phone service is 1/5 Front desk is 1/5 Care quality is 2/5 Everyone in the office seems like they are obligated to work & they have the attitude as if you are wasting their time. I am shocked to see the recent bad reviews on here as I had such a great experience!! I had a terrible experience with another mfm in the valley just being super rude and not nice and asked my ob to refer me to dr devore as I had found him from reviews. They got me in two days after my call for a second opinion on my anatomy scan and everyone was so nice! I live in tarzana and thought his office was here but he was only working in Pasadena at the time but I made the drive for 4 appointments over almost 5 weeks. He found the issue right away, was very informative, I got 3D images of my baby and when it was the end of the road he was very blunt with me in a nice way I felt informed and prepared! I lost my son at 25 weeks 10/21/22 due to severe IUGR and CDH but will be trying again soon and plan to be back to see the team here! read more

Nearly 38 years ago we saw Dr. DeVore on an emergency basis, my wife being in her 9th month. Dr. DeVore skill detected a serious problem with our baby. He got on the phone to our gynecologist and order that our baby be delivered forthwith. The gynecologist tried to smooth this over and Dr. DeVore would have none of and spoke candidly and strongly to our gynecologist on the speaker phone so that we heard it all. If it had not been for Dr. DeVore we might have lost our wonderful son. This is first time we have been able to express our life-long gratitude to Dr. DeVore. I came in to see Dr. Epstein by the advice of my OBGYN who said she worked with him for high-risk pregnancies. I had two miscarriages in 2020 and saw him to check on my growing fetus during my last pregnancy in March 2021. He knew that I has APS (antiphosphoilipid syndrome) which can cause a blood-clot when pregnant. I was supposed to get on a blood thinner to prevent this, but he said he didn't do it until 8 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was viable. I told him I'd seen my OB at 6 weeks and she found live tissue and told me to be seen by Dr. Epstein and get the medication. When I went in at 7.5 weeks (I pushed to be seen before going on a small vacation to see family) the baby was growing as to be expected, but there was a blood clot directly under it. I lost the baby a week later. For someone who seems to be as experienced as he is, I am sad and angry that he didn't give me the medication before it was too late. I will never see this doctor again. To top it off, I got a bill a year after my first visit. Not great to be reminded of all the heartache after seeing this doctor. I recommend that if you have a high risk pregnancy that you do your best to see someone else. read more

I loved the dr and great technician , I went today . I do have complain . The black lady with braids pissed me Off telling me to cover my nose with mask . I respect it but if I'm walking in ur office and I see some staff not wearing or down their nose , first correct your staff and then you can tell me something. Secondly the black lady with braids was in room and she was going in and out for room twice and didn't bother to shut the door as I was getting ultrasound I doubt that insanely rude and unprofessional. It's easy to see why this dr has so many negative reviews....complete incompetence.....1 hour wait in the hallway....then we're called into the room....now we're waiting in the room for another 30 minutes....they put my wife on the bed, ask her to pull her shirt up.....poured the gel on her stomach & that's the last we saw anybody....update....a lady just knocked on the door....opened it and said sorry dr will be with you shortly. We recommend you spend time on his website and read about him and what he does because it's very important. He is a very straightforward doctor. His office is very busy and yes sometimes you have to wait even though you have an appointment but it's worth the wait!!! My wife and I went to see Dr. DeVore upon recommendation from her previous OBGYN. It wasn't absolutely necessary but was an added measure to check for any genetic abnormalities in our baby that cannot be detected by the traditional 2D ultrasound. Dr. Devore specializes in fetal diagnostics using 2D, 3D, 4D, and color Doppler ultrasound. He has extensive education in the field and has published several articles on identifying congenital heart defects using this technology. The office has a brochure with detailed information on his background. It's quite impressive, but this is one of those cases where too much knowledge and information can be bad. Our first two visits were actually quite good. The first visit was impressive because they did a complete 3D ultrasound and provided us with a DVD and a picture. The technology is impressive. There's an agent from the State that comes in to conduct interview with both of the parents and ask detailed background information for any type of health issues on either side of the family. Again, this was helpful. We were lucky to find there were no abnormalities with the fetus. Subsequent visits started to get worse. One thing I noticed was the overall attitude of the staff and the doctor. They just seemed somewhat nonchalant and cold, nothing like the enthusiastic response we got on our first visit. The worst part happened around 27 weeks into the pregnancy. Dr. DeVore mentioned the fetus was too small and requested my wife to take two weeks off work and to be on complete bedrest. This seemed rather excessive as there were no other issues with the fetus. The heartbeat was strong and all blood work came back normal. The fetus was at 2 pounds 4 ounces at this time. We did some research online and this seemed normal. This caused undue stress as coordinating all the paperwork with work, the State, and the two doctors was a nightmare. To make matters worse, Dr. DeVore insulted my wife by asking how her English was. I guess he wasn't sure if she knew enough English to understand what he was going to tell her. My wife is Chinese and I'm Korean so we always speak to each other in English. We spoke English to each other when we were in his office so I'm not sure where he got the impression her English wasn't sufficient. Dr. DeVore may have the knowledge on fetal diagnosis but he doesn't have much people skills. When you're dealing with pregnant women emotions are high and every little thing can set them off so he shouldn't add insult to injury by asking questions like "how's your English?" In my opinion, the whole thing seemed like a lame excuse to get us to come into his office more frequently so he can milk our insurance money. Even after the baby weight was close to where he wanted and there were no other problems, the office kept scheduling us for follow up appointments every three to four weeks, going all the way up to just a month before the due date. Even if there are any issues found month before the due date, what good is it going to do? It's too late anyway. We started getting suspicious about their intention which is why we just stopped going to this doctor and dropped the OBGYN for recommending him. We ended up switching to a new OBGYN just a month before the due date and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. I have a separate review for the new OBGYN. She also thought the two weeks bedrest was excessive and said there's not much you can do to change the weight of the baby in two weeks. I saw Dr. Epstein in the middle of November for a cardiac scan and growth check for my baby, since she was being very active and in difficult positions during the typical anatomy scan for the technician to get heart measurements. When I entered the office, I immediately filled out the typical paperwork for a first visit, and then the receptionist (instead of courteously asking me or anything) dictates "Go to the restroom." I was taken off guard, and this was only the beginning. After a very long wait, over an hour (which made being told to go to the restroom at the beginning completely useless, btw) after my appointment was scheduled, sitting masked and unable to drink water (because of covid, of course), I was called back to the examination room. I was now (once I was in the examination room) told that they also want to do a vaginal ultrasound, which I had not requested and did not want and that it is simply Dr. Epstein's practice for first time patients. I planned to talk to Dr. Epstein about this directly, as I personally did not want it done again after already receiving ones earlier in my pregnancy. When Dr. Epstein did finally come in and begin the scan, he quickly scanned and measured the blood flow in the baby's heart and told me my baby's heart was perfectly formed, which was a big relief to finally hear. However, as he began to take the size measurements, I could sense him becoming uncomfortable and concerned. I could see a couple of the percentiles on the screen for her size, and they were all in the single digits. It was really scary, as she had always measured around the normal sizes at previous appointments. Noteworthy regardless of what happened is that Dr. Epstein was barely interacting with me at all as he did the exam and he did not deliver any information to me in a careful or very approachable way. Then Dr. Epstein asks me, "Your due date is --/--/--, right?" The nurse had entered the wrong due date; my baby was, indeed, still measuring normally, and they had scared me for absolutely nothing because of a mistake. There was barely any apology from either Dr. Epstein or the nurse. At this point, Dr. Epstein goes to do the vaginal ultrasound and I'm just wanting to cry out of relief and frustration, so I don't argue with him about why it needs done. He gave me very little warning before he did it and was both quick and rough in how he did the vaginal ultrasound. I've never had any problems after vaginal ultrasounds before, but I was sore after this one. I'd say the entire time with Dr. Epstein was between 10 and 15 minutes. As Dr. Epstein is preparing to leave the room, he says that he wants to see me again to check on the continued growth of the baby. Then the nurse (who made the due date mistake) wants me to make the follow-up appointment. When I say that I'd like to talk to my main prenatal care providers, she says that's okay but then wanted me to sign a paper saying that I would contact them to schedule the follow-up (this paper also included that I was committing to being charged for this follow-up before I even scheduled it). When I asked the nurse to explain what the paper was and why I needed to sign it, she got kind of frustrated that I wouldn't just sign it and didn't want to give anymore explanation then that they wanted it on paper that I wasn't making an appointment right away (which was not all that was on the paper itself). I refused to sign the paper, and I left the office. I called my husband and started crying almost as soon as I was in my car. It was the most upsetting doctor's appointment I have ever had. Now nearly two months later, it turns out that they also overcharged me at their office. I was very curious how they had tried to calculate my bill without the claim being filed by my insurance and apparently the did do it wrong. So now I want to fight that, too. I would never go back to see Dr. Epstein or deal with anyone I had to deal with at his office again or wish it on anyone. My partner came in for a ultrasound that lasted about 15 minutes and they billed us $550. The people in the billing front desk should be ashamed of themselves. Screwing over the middle class and working for this dump. It's sad, I wish it would be investigate, eventually it will with all the bad reviews. All them good reviews sound too good to be true. We absolutely LOVE Dr Devore and his staff. I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about.... Maybe he was caught on a bad day? Anyways, he was recommended/referred by our Obgyn Dr Kohn (who we also LOVE) for First Trimester Screening. We waited about 30minutes in the waiting room, which 10 of it was me filling out all the paperwork. Lady at the front was nice and seemed very busy with the phone ringing, copying insurance cards, and organizing loads of paperwork. The waiting area is very nice, with plush couches, tons of magazines and TV. Once brought into exam room, nurse was very friendly and explained was appt was about and going to entail. Rooms are very nice and those exam tables- holy crap they are comfy! New, leather and wide! It was great. We waited maybe 5-10mins before being seen by Doctor. He came in, shook our hands and had some small chit chat before starting ultrasound. He took many great moments to explain what part he was looking at and that everything looked good with the baby- "see here is the heart, checking all 4 valves and everything looks great. Here is the brain you can see the two lobes." And so forth. Little did I know we got a long sheet of ultrasound 3D pictures and. DVD! What?!! I was sooooo excited! He then explained the two blood tests we could get and what they test for. I asked a few questions about the abnormalities that they screen for and he answered clearly and professional (no attitude). Dr Devore ended the appt with chatting about how he has a great relationship with my Obgyn Dr Kohn. Really felt good to know that they are in great contact. Usually specialist don't know the main doctors. We got the advanced blood screening test which also confirms gender. Nurse came back in and took my blood. I have tiny veins, which I warned her, and she called in "reinforcements" as she called it. Haha! Another nurse came in and did my blood draw quick and pain free. I left the appt feeling great and confident with this doctors examination. I look forward to seeing him at my Second Trimester Screening. Okay the guy is great, but bring food and a book to see this specialist. Rarely will the appointments be on time. The wait is usually long about 45 minutes on average. HGTV on the tv was fun the 1st hour we were here waiting for the doctor, but seriously, I'm here right now and this is just ridiculous. This review is way overdue, but I feel compelled to share my experience so as to spare anyone else. PLEASE go elsewhere. Dr. DeVore ruined what should have been a beautiful pregnancy and I suspected then what I know now, that it was all about $$$. I had been referred to him by my then OBGYN. I was told of "chromosome abnormality" and was immediately showed a large photo book of children with down syndrome and then asked if I wanted to have the amnio and if I'd be keeping the pregnancy.... Naturally my husband and I were in a state of shock, tears and all expected emotions of first time parents. We agreed to the procedure right then. Upon family and friend's recommendations, we went to see the renowned Dr. Platt in LA. He proceeded to assure us our baby was healthy and that he would NOT had recommended the exam as there were no indication of concern. Of course the final results came in shortly later showing baby was healthy, but that waiting time was the most stressful of my pregnancy, not to mention stress and added risk of having this procedure.... A few months later, I was waiting in my Gyno's office and overheard a distressed woman crying about DeVore's diagnosis (essentially telling what we were told). She was being assured that DeVore likes to be "overly cautious which is why he almost always recommends additional tests". WRONG! Over the years I've read about DeVore and I am convinced his actions are financially motivated. My wife was asked to see Dr. DeVore. I came along to support my wife and to watch our three year old since children were not allowed. It is actually fairly typical for children not to be allowed in the examination rooms. I get it; there is lots of equipment and the doctor needs to be able to concentrate. This time, however, I was informed upon my second step into the room that children were not allowed in the office at all. In other words, my daughter and I could not wait for my wife in the waiting room. I'd like to understand this policy better. It seems unfriendly to young mothers to an asinine degree. Are you a young mother with another child on the way? Have you asked your husband, mother, father, in-law to come along as support? Nope. You're done. The front staff is not helpful at all. I would say incompetent actually. I was referred here by my ob who said Devore was so nice and thorough. Um no. But more on that later. The first trimester screening I had, the front staff told me when I came in that my insurance didn't approve the testing. Okay, can you check with my ob, who said it was approved. They basically said no. I have to call myself. So I got that sorted out myself but had to make another appt for another time. I get to my appt and thank goodness I'm early, bc 5 ladies show up right after me. They just opened after their lunch hour. So I'm waiting for them to call me in, while watching the waiting room fill up. I guess Devore knows he has a packed waiting room, bc he literally spent 5 minutes with me. I had bad morning sickness so maybe I didn't smile at him either, but he was gruff and barely spoke to me while doing the screening. He was supposed to measure the nuchal translucency or something like that to assess down syndrome risk. When I left, I realized he didn't even tell me if there was a risk. He took 3 mediocre pictures that looked horrible. He actually did perk up once and that was when he was telling me my 2 options for testing. The 6k one with 99% accuracy or the cheap one with 75% (or somewhere near there) accuracy. I could totally tell he would make more money if I chose the 6k test. When I had my 1st trimester screening at Kaiser with baby 1, the ob specialist was so nice. He noticed I looked sick, asked me if I needed anything and did a very thorough screening. He talked me through everything and spent about 30 minutes with me. Anyway, I ended up picking the more expensive test and the office was supposed to call me back. They never called me with the results. I ended up calling them. My 2nd trimester screening. Ugh. They were supposed to handle the insurance paperwork. When I went in, they told me that it wasn't approved. They said they tried to call me, but turns out they transcribed my number incorrectly so had the wrong number down. Probably, why I never got a call for my test results. They said I had to do something for the insurance to approve the 2nd screening but by that point I didn't want to deal with such incompetent staff and then have to deal with a mediocre doctor so I said ok and just left. Twice, I had to arrange my husband to come home from work to watch our son for nothing. This office wasted not only my time, but my husband's time. read more

Things you should definitely know before visiting this office. Their billing practices: I have Anthem Blue Cross PPO, so naturally a coinsurance is due when I go see them. Every visit I had they'd call only a day prior and quote me the wildest numbers upwards of $2-300+. I don't know about you but I don't have that kind of money ready to give out especially with only 24hr notice. On top of that I used to do medical billing and know that what an office quotes doesn't always turn out to be accurate so I'd only pay maybe $50-$100 max and told them they could invoice me the rest after my insurance finalizes the claim. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! AND SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS. I only had 4 dates of service but they were missing payments I had made and had applied a payment to my account that WASN'T EVEN FROM ME. Thankfully it wasn't a lot of money so whomever it was from shouldn't be too effected. By the end of everything they sent me a final invoice saying I still owed $140. I cross checked my insurances statements and my payments against the statement they sent me and by the end of it they technically ended up owing me money because of the payment that belonged to someone else, but of course I didn't ask for that $ because it wasn't mine. SCARY that they could so easily make these mistakes. Also, you either have to pay for parking or get lucky and find a spot on the street. I hate paying for parking so I never did, but when you're 8+ months pregnant and your feet are the size of watermelons walking is the LAST thing ya wanna do. The doctor- first time mom? Got 10 million questions? Forget about it. He walks in as last minute as possible, slaps jelly on you for images, doesn't bother to try and get any good pics for you and then leaves. He will BARELY explain a thing. I had to stop him from walking out and make him answer my questions and if you do this he becomes annoyed. Seems like of your heart isn't in it anymore it's time to retire buddy because many mom's have too many questions for this kind of attitude. The staff- lady at the front, whom I'm assuming is the doctors wife, is a peach. That being said she has a poor concept of privacy and talks about your visit and finances far FAR too loudly for that tiny office. The other staff in the back are relatively nice and I will say Monica in billing is very sweet. However everyone seems stressed the hell out. The Nurse, whom I guess I will call dark skinned is a CRAB. Does not smile, is NOT happy to help you, rather judgemental and seems like she needs a serious freakin vacation. The office- is tiny. Little to no seating inside. Tacky decorations that could probably be removed for more seats. What a concept! Their equipment is fair enough but if you're going to a specialist and paying out the bum for it I would half expect some decent equipment being utilized so nothing to praise there. All in all if I could do it again, I wouldnt. I would have told my OB to stuff it and found a specialist who takes my insurance that I actually liked. I only came here because my OB referred me to him and acted as if he was my only option. I wish I would have been smarter than that and made a better decision because the way I see it pregnancy and doctors visits are a pain but also part of the magic of watching your baby grow. 3 times I saw Dr. Devore, and the 3 times were unpleasant experiences. The second time, I walked out of his office in tears. My pregnancy was low-risk for genetic abnormalities, but I decided to go just in case; he was recommended by my obgyn. He is definitely an alarmist, and especially if you are low risk, save yourself a lot of unnecessary anxiety and do not go to him. He told me that our son had an enlarged kidney, and said very coldly and with no explanation or statistics: "and its associated with Down's syndrome" and proceeded to exit the door. He had his nurse tell me that I needed to see a geneticist. I'm a first time mom, I was in a state of shock and I felt like i was having an out of body experience. I couldn't sleep, I was depressed, suffered tremendous anxiety over this. I did my own research looked up scientific journals on this topic, and come to find out that it is considered a controversial soft marker for Down's, especially in the absence of other markers as in my case, and it is very common in boys, and in most cases resolves on its own before birth! I was outraged and relieved at the same time. How dare he withhold such important information from us and cause me such distress?????? Yes, it's his job to tell you when the potential for your baby to have a certain disorder is in the realm of possibilities, but it is also his job to make sure that you understand what the risks/statistics are! Wow, this guy is something else. I tried to ask him questions as he was exiting the door, but he was rushing and pretty much brushing me off. To me, that is beyond horrible bedside manner, it's pretty evil and inconsiderate of him. He was so rude. I once asked him for the positioning of my baby and he snapped at me: "just let me do my job and I'll answer your questions later" (a better response would have been: Give me a min, I'll answer all your questions in just a bit"). He always seems rushed and is always yelling at his anxious nurses in front of his patients. He also made me go back a couple of times because he is so disorganized and rushed that he forgets to do one measurement or another so does incomplete exams and still tries to charge your insurance for it...you've been warned...Goes to show you that no matter how many degrees you hold, doesn't mean you're a good Dr. There are some things you just can't learn in medical school, such as common sense, compassion for your patients, and tact, all of which, in my opinion Dr. Devore severely lacks. First of all I have a lot of respect for educated people , however the lack of compassion that this dr shows to his patients is beyond amazing. During our second ultrasound we were reduced to tears as to the number of genetic issues that the baby could have, during this time the dr remained absolutely cold faced about all of this while my wife were in tears . We were sent out to a genetic councellor who had a la carte menu on what testing they recommended while we were in tears. The only person who had compassion was this African American nurse ( sorry I forgot her name ) who said everything will be fine and slight hinted that this is a scare tactic for expecting parents to overpay for upgrade services. We had to come pay to get an amnio and had to wait over an hour while we are on pins and needles waiting for a possible genetic abnormality . During the time of our wait we had numerous patient chArts open and all personal info on display . How this is not a HIPAA violation is beyond me!!! We turn went to Dr Platt's office who reassured us that everything was fine and told us that he used to be partners a long time ago with devore but couldn't keep up making excuses for his poor bedside manner . Last month my wife gave birth to a healthy boy and are very blessed but there were times when we were excessively scared. This is a long overdue post regarding the front office/billing and specifically, Dr. Epstein. We were sent to Dr. Epstein by my OB after a concerning anatomy scan. I was alone in the office because of COVID restrictions but let me illustrate how the interaction went. Epstein took measurements of the baby. Said he looks perfect and then in the same breath said "you need to decide whether you are going to terminate pretty quickly because [xyz]." The delivery was absolutely appalling. To deliver news that you need to terminate your child without any sort of warning that things were really bad, maybe have me sit up so I'm not lying there exposed and because of the mask I could barely see him and warn my husband who is about to hear the most devastating news of his life over FACETIME that we need to brace ourselves. We had maybe 10-15 more minutes with him once he did an amnio and he just sent us on our way without a real plan (or if he had one, he didn't communicate it with his front office staff who scrambled and made an incorrect appointment for me). My husband and I reached out to other more experienced and more reputable perinatalogists over the next week. When I called Epstein's office to get my records, I was told by some receptionist that under no circumstances was I allowed to receive my own medical records and they could ONLY be sent to another office. I had to email the office, clearly laying out the case law allowing my right to receive a copy of my records (what would another patient have done if they weren't an attorney?). Anyway, we stopped seeing him sfter one more appointment and the two other doctors we saw spent at minimum 2 hours with us explaining everything, the risks, the potential outcomes and my options and showed SO MUCH sympathy and were so empathetic. Then came the billing issues and I swear I am at a point where I am almost ready to give up. My insurance covers amnios but the doctor must send in a note saying it was medically necessary. Simple. This was in April. It is now NOVEMBER and I am still trying to get them to do this one simple task. My insurance has also tried contacting them multiple times to no avail. The last conversation I had with some woman in billing, she was adamant that my amnio was cancelled because that is what the notes said and nothing, the bill, me telling her the amnio was done and results sent to my new doctor. Still couldn't convince her and this cold hearted horrible human decides to ask "well if you did the amnio, what were the results?" F* you and the horse you rode in on. It was normal and my baby is still dead. So now I'm out $2000 because this office can't get their shit together. Oh, and I kept getting billed smaller amounts that didn't make sense but I didn't have it in me to fight them in the state I was after my loss. For both a lack of empathy when things go really wrong and for the complete lack of competence in the staff, I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend this office. I have told my OB and reproductive endocrinologist about this and they have both reconsidered sending patients to Epstein. read more

My wife and I were referred to Dr. DeVore by her OB when it was discovered that she was actually further along than we had anticipated. We saw him for a total of 3 ultrasounds, and came out of each feeling completely satisfied with his services. Our first two ultrasounds went off with no issues. Our baby girl was in position, and he was able to perform a thorough scan. I made him aware of a heart issue that had occurred with a previous family member, and he made sure to schedule us for one more just to be certain. For the third, she decided that she didn't want to participate, and faced her back to us. He was incredibly patient and had us walk around the office a bit to get her to move, because of how crucial it was for him to see the heart. After about an hour, she finally turned enough for him to get a good view, giving him a chance to get a good scan and help us breathe a sigh of relief! People who have issues with his bedside manner have to understand that he is not there to provide you with an experience. The issues that he is looking for are incredibly serious and, if undiagnosed, can be very harmful to your baby. I will gladly sacrifice 5 minutes of small talk for the focus that he provides. He comes highly recommended from any doctor, and for good reason. He is simply an expert in his field. read more

I've gotta say, I feel a little guilty for prejudging Dr Devore before meeting him. A lot of the comments I read on Yelp beforehand scared me to tears and panic. I was referred to him by my regular obgyn which prompted me to read up on him. A lot of these reviews are not generous. I arrived at 10:05 and I was in the room being examined by 10:15. This is the quickest doctor visit I have ever encountered. He was a lovely man that was cordial and quick. Everything was fine, the nurse apologized profusely about not being able to get me a DVD. I wasn't even expecting a DVD! The only caveat I have is with the Pasadena office. I was seen in Tarzana but all calls go through Pasadena. The women I've spoken to there were not pleasant on the phone. I was also told at the last minute that children were not allowed which put us in a babysitter bind. But that's my only "cons" Anyway, I felt the need to write a positive review because I had a positive experience. read more

Referred by OB secondary to multiple and IvF pregnancy. a little hesitant to see him after reading reviews @ yelp, still went and glad that we did! Office has a homey feel. Dr Devore is straight forward. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand, it isn't him. I do appreciate that. I prefer my medical doctor to be straight forward and gives me my options as it is. No sugar coating. I also love how he give us 3D pictures or panoramic picture of our little one every after appointments! read more

My wife was recommended to this doctor. When they called the day before to confirm, they told her she had to pay $500 up front. I called my insurance and they said it would be ok for them to Bill the insurance and then bill me for the rest. We went to the Tarzana office. When we got there, the lady in the front desk was rude to us, she asked for payment up front, my wife told her what the insurance said, they replied "we don't work like that" after that we left. On top of that, they are not kid friendly. They kicked our son out, he couldn't even be in the waiting room and they are in the business of maintaining babies and they don't want any in their offices, that's ridiculous!! After reading such mixed reviews I did my own research, I called the doctors office and asked alot of questions. I wasn't sure if this was the office I'd want to come to being that the reviews are negative. I called many times and each one of those calls became less and less stressful. I decided to keep my appointment and I'm glad I did. The staff was great! Debbie was a pleasure and made me feel comfortable, we talked for along time and she was very informative. I must admit I was more upset my kids couldn't go but after my experience I'm actually grateful because it was more personal and your not interrupted by unruly kids. Dr. DaVore straight faced but honestly does a great job. He's there to look for diagnostic purposes, he engaged in conversation and reassured me everything was fine. He knew I had concerns just based on my many calls lol and made sure to ask if me I had any questions, which was nice. A nice surprise was a gift I was handed on my way out it was super sweet and thoughtful. Little things like engaging conversations, attentiveness and even the sweet gift makes a world of difference. It is very sad that Dr Devore it's a wonderful professional Dr but he's staff is very poor in customer service at this office. Cecilia every time when she answers the phone she was rushing the call and interrupting when I was asking questions. She should get better training in how to treat concern mothers of their pregnancy it's something important and very sensitive but she treats people like if I was calling Costco and ordering pizza. I hope Dr Devore and he's administrative staff takes action towards this individual. read more

My husband and I read all the bad reviews prior to our appointment and were a little nervous but were so happy with Dr. Devore and his services when we went! Dr. Devore and his nurse were both so kind and respectful towards me and my husband right from the beginning. He explained everything he was going to do and even warned me not to be alarmed if he was quiet, it was because he was going to be taking lots of measurements of the baby. We were definitely a little tense because of the genetic counseling and blood test information we had received prior to coming in, but Dr. Devore really put us at peace and you can tell he is excellent at what he does! His manners, communication, personality, etc. really put me at ease. Not to mention the fact that he has been doing this for years! I know a lot of moms and dads are going to Dr. Devore because they've received some uncertain news concerning their baby and are needing further testing. Dr. Devore knows that his patients can come in feeling a little tense and that is why he has gone above and beyond to make sure his patients feel comfortable. You can tell by the way he has his office decorated - it is beautiful and peaceful, and you won't feel like you're at a doctor's office! I encourage you, if you're reading these reviews and feeling a little nervous, to go in to your appointment with an open mind and know that Dr. Devore really cares about his patients and understands that the well being of your baby is everything to you! I'd also like to point out that I am extremely picky when it comes to doctors, and after meeting Dr. Devore I wish he could be my full time doctor because I thought he was that great!
