I usually don't post reviews, but I felt compelled to share my incredible experience with Kubik Orthopedics in Crystal Lake. I was referred to Dr. Kubik by Dr. Hyde Sheffield (an amazing periodontist) and Pennino Dentistry, and from start to finish, it was the best experience I've ever had at a doctor's office. At 53 years old, I needed braces and was told I'd have them for 16 to 22 months; they came off right at 16 months to the day. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and kind, answering every question I had and making me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Dr. Kubik's office has an outstanding morale--he clearly loves what he does and brings humor and warmth to each visit. He caters to young patients but makes everyone feel at ease, and his personality is infectious. Candy, who helped when I got my braces removed, was phenomenal as well. I can honestly say I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I recommend Dr. Kubik to anyone who needs orthodontic care. Wonderful customer service in and out. I love the office clean and have options for the kids to play a game before the visit, a beautiful fish tank, and while you are getting your braces on or tightened you can watch a movie. My daughter love the goodie bag and has a parent love the before braces picture and after. Oh let me not forget I got a cute cup and Dr.Kubik personally called to check on my daughter great evening. Dr. Kubik is fantastic at what he does. My daughter needs braces and our dentist recommended this office. The office itself is very clean. They have a playroom where there is a video game that you can play while waiting. They also have a huge fish tank, and each room has its own sports theme. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Dr. kubik is very nice and thorough. The day my daughter got her braces put in he called me himself to make sure she was feeling OK or if I had any questions. We love it here! read more

I think I did a review when I first started. I give this review on the day my braces came off! It has been a long and amazing road. It started so long ago; it was interrupted by COVID-19, but it is over. I cannot say enough about Dr. Kubik and his staff. From when I got my braces on until this day. The process of getting them off was long but exciting. What I am most impressed by is the process at the end is such a bookend to the beginning. What an experience but I am not done. About once every year or so, I need a re-glue on my permanent retainer (or lingual bar, for those in the know), but I've been out of braces for over 14(?) years now, so a little touch up every now and then is fine by me, especially to keep everything in place. You know you've gotten good work done when they still compliment it at the dentist. Again, it has been JUST A FEW years, and earlier THIS year my dental hygienist was raving about my tooth contacts (that's what makes your floss *snap* so satisfyingly between your teeth). They know Dr. K by name and reputation, and for good reason. He and his staff are the nicest people assembled (outside of, I assume, some small village in Norway), and every time I visit, I'm happier for it. In fact, on this most recent visit, I was struck with the thought "Why didn't I get into this? This seems like the best place to work." If that doesn't tell you what to expect, well okay. O-Kay. There's a fish tank, a water fountain, sports memorabilia, TVs, a smell that makes you think "Yeah, that's the right smell," and lots of qualified people ready to help you find your smile. read more

Our teenage son had to get braces and a palate expander. This doctor was recommended by our dentist. Dr Kubik and his friendly staff are very happy people and really know their stuff. You have questions? They have answers. And they are patient with all the phone calls and questions from parents. Very kind staff who make this experience easy to deal with and pleasant to go through. Two separate waiting areas for parents/guardians and even a special game room for siblings. Special chairs are beside each station so you may sit and observe while your child is getting "worked" on. That is a great perk! Then you can ask questions as they arise and see everything that is going on. The braces on station has a tv for your child to watch a movie while they are getting their braces put on. Takes their mind off what's going on in their open mouth. I honestly don't understand how some people have rated Dr. Kubik negatively. He is by far the most genuine, hilarious, caring, experienced dental professional I have ever met. I had my braces put on by him and my teeth are still straight three years later. They're great about additional retainer appointments as well. ALL of the staff are exorbitantly warm and friendly. Braces are definitely pricey, but Dr. K has financing plans (which my mother chose for both me and my younger sister). They were never a hassle. The office itself is always decorated given the season or nearing holidays, and the staff switches up their uniforms every day. Fantastic place for kids. DO NOT let this man pull teeth out for braces!!! You do not need teeth pulled for braces and if he says so then get a second opinion! I had my braces done here as a teenager and I am paying for it now. I have to get a face mask and braces again to fix my jaw popping problem and it is all his fault! This is a serious warning because I do not want your kids to have to deal with this as well! read more

Amazing practice and Dr. Kubik does outstanding work!

The staff is very nice but for as thorough as they claim Dr. Kubik is, I was not informed of a potential problem with one of my teeth forr over 8 months. Apparently this was noticed on my initial X-rays. Many many months later, after making me do a painful and miserable gum graft procedure in order to get braces, my appointment was finally scheduled to have braces put on but not before they took "just one more" X-ray. (I had more X-rays done in this quest for braces than I can remember). I asked the staff if "this is it?" and was told "yes, this is it!" Thinking I am finally going to get the braces, I signed up for a flexible spending account through work (if you do not use the money you lose it). Then, after the last X-ray and after cashing my $6100 check, I was told now I had to go get a root canal on a tooth that had no symptoms. This means more needles and more pain but the worst part is no one ever informed me this tooth may be a problem. I dreaded the gum graft and almost decided against braces when I learned I needed it. If I also knew, from the beginning, that another tooth may be an issue resulting in more dental procedures, I would probably have decided against the braces from the beginning. I spent over $1000 between the gum graft, specialist appointments, and Dr. Kubik's $500 initial exam fee and all it has cost me is pain and misery. When I expressed my concerns, the office manager was nice enough but acted like I was stupid and didn't "understand." Then she insisted that I was told about the potential tooth problem which I was not. I saw Dr. Kubik through all of this maybe a total of 10 minutes otherwise I was dealing with his staff who need to work on their communication skills. Dr. Kubik has a fancy office and it looks nice but he should maybe worry less about his fancy office and spend more time with his patients. I also called to talk to him and he never bothered calling me back. Now I am stuck with trying to figure out what to do about the $2500 I have in a flexible spending account that I will probably lose. Dr. Kubik also charges a lot more than other orthodontists in the area. Someone has to pay for that fancy office. Save some money and go elsewhere. read more
