Decided to try a new coffee shop in the area. Saw a lot of great reviews and thought it might be worth the visit Located in Navy Yard, there was plenty of street parking and seating w/ outlets. Standard coffee shop vibe, clean & bright with personable associates. I opted to sit on the patio, but the Wi-Fi didn't connect outside. I ordered my standard iced chai latte with oat milk which was perfect. I was able to lock in for a couple hours and focus. I am always on the look out for a nice coffee shop in the area. I stumbled upon Gregory's Coffee while in the area. The inside was bright and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the four-eye representation throughout the shop. I ordered an iced latte, the DMV sandwich, and banana pound cake and a hot chocolate for my daughter. Yikes. This place has REALLY gone downhill. My partner and I often stop here Sunday in the late morning to get a coffee. Two weeks ago, there was one other person who placed an order before us. But we waited and waited for our order, and only one drink came. We finally asked what was going on, and they had forgotten to make the other drink ‍ Today, we came back. I didn't get a drink, but my partner ordered a blended drink. Does that look blended to you? Nothing like paying $7 for a half-assed beverage. Generally, a fine place to go. The hot food is hit or miss unfortunately. I decided to try the Vietnamese coffee. The menu description said there was condensed sweetened milk in it. I'm mainly writing this review because of how great the service was. There was a little mix-up with my boyfriend's drink--not sure if we said it wrong or if it was just misheard--but the barista fixed it right away and was so kind about it. I've stopped into Gregory's coffee a few times and really enjoyed it! The Hall and Oates cold brew was a particular favorite of mine for drinks. I've also liked their food, including the large rice crispy treat. This location is very convenient to the Navy Yard metro. It has a decent amount of indoor seating--and power outlets--as well as outdoor tables to enjoy in the nice weather. It seems like most people get orders to go, but there are some patrons hanging out with friends or busy on their laptops. There is a Starbucks super close to this location if you're looking for a more conventional option. But I prefer trying the offerings at Gregory's. read more

I went for coffee and decided to give them a try. The establishment was very clean and I loved the decor. They do offer outdoor seating as well but all the tables were dirty so I had my coffee at the one that was the least dirtiest. Staff was friendly and service fairly quick. They offer coffee, lattes and smoothies. I tried the pumpkin latte (iced) but it wasn't the best latte I've had. Maybe the hot coffee is better but the latte was lacking in pumpkin flavor. Kinda disappointed. I first had Gregory's in New York and that one had a lot of exciting and unique options (like golden lattes etc). The menu items seemed pretty standard here; I did want to try the protein coffee but the barista mentioned it is better with whole or skim milk and I don't really do either. Also... it was about $7. Anyway I ordered a Nitro and he was like 'oh! For once I can tell a customer that it works and we have that. ' so I paid, and waited. Almost immediately after he came back with a half a cup of flat looking coffee and said he was mistaken and asked me to pick a comparable drink. I wanted black coffee so...I just ordered a cold brew - he did not offer to exchange the difference in cost (I would've declined but I think a dollar difference he should've offered). Cold brew was fine; no issues with it. Fast forward to my friend who ordered a matcha lemonade. She pays for the drink and when they call her up they tell her they had run out of lemonade but they tried to make it work with something else. She tried it... it did not work. They also gave her something of lower value in exchange without offering to refund the difference. Seats were plentiful and loved the bright space and convenience of the place. But dang, Gregory's! You need to stop running this like a scam operation and know in advance what your inventory is before charging your customers for something you don't have. read more

We were tired and needed a pick me up, so coming off of the Metro, we decided to come into Gregorys Coffee. They close at 5pm and it's 447pm. I know, I know... I too work in the service industry. I too have been irritated when a customer comes in when I'm already clearing down. But here's the thing... you're open until 5. If you want the last 30 to be clean up time, close at 430. This is a coffee shop, why would I wait more than 13 min for anything anyway? So we walk in and one person screams at us, waving their arms, that they're closed and we can't have anything but cold brews. Another customer walks in right behind us and another person working runs in front of her and screams at her to leave because they're closed. I'm about to walk out too because I'm confused. Is she making us leave too? Nope, she sternly reminds us that we can have cold brew. Cool, this is what we wanted and came in for anyway. This changed her attitude and she became very friendly with us. I thought this was weird but I also thought maybe she was caught off guard by some tourists who wanted to come in as they are clearing down. If this later attitude was the service we got from the start, this would have been a 5 star experience. Everyone had been raving about the salted caramel cold brew so so went that and "the DMV," a breakfast sandwich with bacon, (egg?) and cheese. 1) salted caramel cold brew: this was one of the worst coffees I've had in years. It was so sweet I thought I was drinking salted caramel straight. I couldn't taste a sip of coffee. Is that the point? Do people who don't like coffee order this? 2) the dmv: it looked like one of the breakfast sandwiches my mom made for us growing up when she wanted to get rid of the random stuff in our pantry. The sandwich is made with two hamburger buns and a thin layer of maybe 2 pieces of bacon and a single slice of Kraft cheese. Like, middle school cafeteria vibes. 3) blueberry muffin: this was fine. I liked that the top was a little crispy and the bottom was softer. It wasn't super moist or super dry, it was just average. There were a good bit of blueberries. 4)cold brew with oat milk: after disliking my coffee, I opted for something closer to my typical coffee shop orders and liked this SO much more than the SCCB. However, I still found it overpriced and over diluted with milk. I was so disappointed by this visit. Guess there is a reason you should be wary of social media!! read more

Ordered on the app a sausage egg sandwich on a croissant; on the menu it is The Deluxe. (you have to download their app to order online.) I asked for scrambled eggs didn't realize they didn't have a stove; so all the food is just warmed in a microwave/oven. The sandwich was just ok, nothing to special about it, very plain. Wouldn't order a sandwich from here again. I went in on 12/17/24, at about 9:50 AM. I got the hard boiled eggs and the Coco-Oats. After paying, I looked for a spoon for my oats. When I couldn't find one, I asked one of the two female employees if there was a spoon. The lady I spoke to glanced around, and then told me they were out of spoons. She didn't even attempt to look in the back or offer to refund me. She was not friendly and appeared to not want to help much. I then grabbed a fork and she stated it's as good as a spoon. Although the meal was fine and the store appeared to be clean, the customer service had one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel. Outrageously poor customer service.
