DC is loaded with coffee shops. Many of them close by 5. We were headed for a different coffee shop but wanted to linger. So we chose this location (right by Metro Center). The seasonal drinks are fun. There is additional seating in the back of the coffee shop. If you want a pastry, visit earlier. There aren't many choices at 5pm. I noticed the National guard on this visit.

We were craving coffee and couldn't be happier to get off at metro center and immediately be greeted with this location! They have fun drink options to choose from and I was so delighted with the flavors. The food options also looked great although I wasn't in the mood for food!

Great cup of coffee in the city! Strong taste, flavorful and not watered down. Efficient service and the decor is fun and cool. A great spot to work or study. Definitely pop in next time you're in the area.

11/30/2025 - Sunday night and a wonderful person helped me. My first time here. If you enter the right hand side door there is a step to a lower level. Watch out! Take the door to the left to enter and exit. No step and go order. I ordered a 16 oz Latte. No issues. Very good and great service. Very clean and vibrant inside. They are open 7 days a week and open at 7am. They plan to open at 6am down the road.

Super cute shop! Staff is friendly and the matcha tea was super yummy! Quick service and super cute to sit inside!

*Updated Review Been coming here regularly for our morning coffee run! My previous review reflected my disappointment with the service. It's been much better. I like the flavors of their coffee. The seasonal drinks are good. Kinda pricey but I find myself still coming.

Good coffee shop in the Metro Center area. I had an oat milk latte and my friend had a burrito. The food/coffee were good, though a little pricey. I'd rather go to Tatte for a better latte, but it's decent if you don't want to walk up there or want to avoid the crowd. Vibe is good, love the decor. Overlooks the metro, so not a great view but that's not their fault. Service was prompt.

Cute coffee shop near metro center, with the cutest names for their coffees! Super busy midday!

Came here during our sighting tour in Washington. It's a small nice café. We had a flat white, an americano and two spinach feta pastries. Everything was good and staff was nice. As we had no plates and disposable cups only, I take a star off, giving 4 well meant stars.

LOVED my coffee! The workers were so sweet and welcoming. I'm usually a starbucks lover but I enjoyed this a bit better. GO TRY IT!

I was walking around downtown and found this place. It was close to the metro and the service was impeccable. The name of their matcha latte is called disco and the server even made a funny joke about it dancing (which worked well as a dancer myself). It's only named Disco but is their regular matcha. I got mine with oat milk and hot and I'd go back. It is a smaller location so not much seating -- keep that in mind.

I ordered an Aztec latte and it was so flavorful and strong. Just the thing to wake me up this morning. Staff was courteous, but they delayed my drink because they were busy talking. Otherwise, it was good vibes and even better coffee.

This coffee shop is right next to the Metro Center transit entrance so it's very convenient if you need coffee right when you hop off the metro. There's a few seats in coffee shop if you want to dine in. For drinks, I ordered the pumpkin spice latte and my friend ordered another specialty latte. I liked the vibe of the coffee shop and the staff were very nice so I really wanted to like this place, but both drinks were bad. I took a few sips and immediately wanted to toss the drink...it tasted like watered down, slightly spiced milk. My friend's drink wasn't any better, it tasted like steamed milk. Based on the coffee I'd give it 2.5 stars. I also tried the fruity cereal macaron which was wonderful, I'd purchase a box of that in a heartbeat. Skip the pink lemonade macaron it's not worth it.

Awful service. 20 minutes and they 'lost' my order. Kept my cash tip though. Too many coffee shops around to waste time at this one.

I ordered the Tuscan Kale wrap (kale, sweet potatoes, quinoa, broccoli, chickpeas, onions, basil pesto, hummus, cayenne, tortilla) in a gluten-free wrap, and it was honestly one of the most flavorful wraps I've ever had! The ingredients tasted super savory and fresh. I also tried the Coffee Date smoothie (cold brew coffee, almond milk, banana, peanut butter, raw cacao, dates), and it was delicious. The atmosphere is cute, clean, and trendy, with a really welcoming feel. It's small with limited seating, but it wasn't overcrowded at all. I went with a group of three and we sat outside--perfect setup for a warm day with shaded seating and umbrellas. Inside, there were people working on laptops, so it definitely seems like a great spot to hang out or work remotely. Service was quick, warm, and friendly. Overall, such a great find. I'd absolutely come back.

Birthday cake for breakfast? Say less!…read more I've been dying to try South Block's seasonal Birthday Cake Smoothie because I'm a sucker for anything birthday cake flavored. With this week's heat wave, Thursday felt like the perfect excuse to finally treat myself. The Birthday Cake Smoothie is made with almond milk, banana, vanilla, granola, maple syrup, plant protein, and topped with a dollop of blue CocoWhip, a cherry twist, and sprinkles. I swapped the plant protein for whey protein, and it absolutely hit the spot. It was creamy, refreshing, and definitely gave me the birthday cake vibes I was hoping for without being overly sweet. I ordered ahead through the app, and my smoothie was ready right on time. I also appreciated their pickup setup. Completed orders are placed in a freezer at the counter, so you can simply grab your drink and keep it moving. Quick, easy, and perfect for busy mornings. One thing I love about this location is being inside Union Market. There are plenty of places to sit if you want to enjoy your smoothie or bowl. Now, if you've ever been to Union Market on a weekend or evening, you already know finding a seat can feel like a competitive sport. But in the mornings, it's much calmer with far less foot traffic, making it a great time to visit. Price-wise, it's about the same as the South Block near my office in Arlington. Is it expensive? Sure. But honestly, that's just the reality of smoothie and açaí bowl spots these days. At least here, the quality, convenience, and fresh ingredients make it feel worth the splurge every once in a while. I'll definitely be back... especially if they bring this Birthday Cake Smoothie around again.

We had such a great time enjoying it on the picnic tables outside. My only complaint was the acai bowl's were so good, our conversation was practically non-existent... we mostly just ate. They were filling, delicious, and broke my brain as to why I had gone this far in life without making this treat a regular in my pursuit of constantly enjoying the most toothsome dishes to be had. I need to go back. Soon.

Any time I have been there, the wait times have been stress-free, and the queues move quickly. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with their avocado toast with smoked salmon. With a generous portion of smoked salmon on top of avocado mash, on perfectly toasted sourdough bread, creating a place of tremendous well-being. Drink-wise, I always go for cold brew and the cold brew never lets me down there. Last time, they had a peanut-butter cold brew and a black cherry one, both of which were magical. We hoped to find a place that offered decaf coffee since it was late in the day, but really wanted something warm since it was a bit chilly outside. Unfortunately, this location of Toastique does not offer decaf - they only have a single hopper for their coffee, so it is not an offering. We were going to find another place, however, they said how about a hot chocolate or a tea. My friend is vegan and inquired if their hot cocoa was vegan, as most places have dairy in the chocolate. The cashier went to look at the chocolate syrup and also had another person look at it to verify it's vegan. My friend ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk. Even though it was busy, we only waited about 5 minutes for her drink. We appreciated the effort to double check it was vegan, though I do wish they had decaf options.
