    Toasted Parma Sandwich
    Izzy W.

Cute little cafe! Lots of character and our drinks were pretty good (though a little too hot because we both burned our mouths). We also split a toasted parma sandwich which was good but looked kind of sad because there wasn't a ton of toppings on it. Service was friendly though!

Super friendly smiles as soon as we walked in. Staff greeted us immediately which added to the homey vibe inside. We got the mocha the chocolate croissant and blueberry muffin. My boyfriend got the mocha and he doesn't really like coffee but he enjoyed it a lot. I got a blueberry muffin and I thought it was very good and moist. The chocolate croissant was pretty good it was larger than I expected. However they don't seem to heat it up for you which I would recommend asking them too. I originally didn't think that they had a heater but I realized that they did have a toaster to warm up food but they didn't offer to. Overall a pretty good experience!

Worst experience I have ever had in the food and drink industry. My girlfriend and I walked in on a cold day, seeking some warm drinks. It was quite small and a little bit unkempt, that should've been my first sign to walk out. I ordered a hot latte with sugar-free caramel and my girlfriend ordered a latte, iced with caramel. I headed to the bathroom while we waited to wash my hands, and this was another red flag. The bathroom was fine in appearance, but when I went to turn on the sink to wash my hands the knob fell straight off. I was completely shocked. I washed my hands and walked out to my girlfriend, who was very very agitated because the baristas were not wearing gloves. In fact, one of them was even touching the cash register and people's cash, and then going to make drinks. Appalling! I was then informed after taking a few sips of my drink that it (along with the drinks of pretty much everyone else in that café) had been touched by one of the hands of one of the gloveless baristas. The interior as a whole was very filthy and messy. With that, I immediately threw my drink away and my girlfriend did the same. $13 wasted and we will never be going back.

I love Timgad Cafe! I have been their weekly customer for the past two years and guarantee that it's one of the best coffee shops in the area. Although their espresso could use some dialing, the coffee shop's ambiance and friendliness of staff members is unparalleled. I normally get their dulce de leche Cafe Timgad, which is a sweet and silky milk coffee. The coffee is normally $6-7. They also carry sandwiches, baked goods, tea, juices, etc. with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. It's a few steps away from the Federal Triangle metro stop and close to many restaurants. Grab a bite nearby and enjoy a delicious coffee right after. This place is a hit for federal workers in the area!

Best coffee of the trip to DC so if going for coffee this is easily a 5. The ambiance is also fantastic. We were cold and a little excited when we saw they have hot slow-cooked soups and it sure was cold on this day so we got excited. It mentioned those soups several places, but the staff basically said they don't have it and sounded like it is not consistent. There was also some uncomfortable banter between some of the staff. Not sure what it was about. But we still had the hot coffee we needed and like I said before, very good coffee!

After parking in the Ronald Reagan Building Parking Lot, I moseyed on over to Timgad Cafe since it's connected. The security guards said it's the best spot to grab coffee in the area. I got myself: 1) Toasted Parma Sandwich (Prosciutto, Genoa Salami, Hot Capicola, Provolone Cheese, Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato and Onion on a Fresh Baguette) 2) Cortado (espresso with a small amount of steamed milk) The sandwich was yummy but I didn't really like the Cortado. I should've just gotten some black drip coffee or an Americano. I like the wooden decor inside and I played a little guitar since they had one in there that anyone could just pick up and strum/pick at.

    Spotlight on the latte art!

In a city with so many coffee spots, where can you just bask in good vibes? Timgad Cafe! Normally, I hold on writing reviews until I've gone a few times but the visit was that enjoyable! How so? Read on... When my friend and I arrived, it was pretty full yet didn't feel crowded or rushed. We were greeted and placed our orders. If you opt for a pastry, it is self-serve which is probably convenient in a rush. It also probably means it is not a hot pastry (perhaps in the morning?) I had an apple fritter which was not colossal (yay!) and was tasty. For beverage and in continuing my love of coffee art, I ordered a latte. While the taste wasn't my favorite, I loved the art! All about the latte art ;-) So what else rocked? Service, speed of beverage prep, consistency of coffee art and the vibes, yes calm vibes! People doing their own thing yet feeling like a laid-back community. Timgad, I'll be back!

Art work doesn't typically grab me but this art work did. If I had money, time, and comfortable accessibility to purchase, I would. I am sure I could order online and have shipped but I like to avoid shipping costs if I can. The realism and detail grab me in a way I like. The DC tunnel views that continue to beautify DC's respectable metro system show you that Jimmy is truly a local DC artist. It is reminiscent for me of Juniper Lane's music album cover Tightrope. I didn't notice this until after the fact but apparently when you buy art directly from here you get 15% of your purchase for more coffee here too. Wow. Why the missing star? This is kinda picky but if I wasn't looking or a foreigner, I could've accidentally added hand sanitizer to my coffee and well that's a big no no. Granted the bottle is labeled but I am not a fan of this being in the same area as the coffee add-ons. I know spacing is tight and maybe someone moved this bottle in this area but I don't get that sense and just think it's not a good setup. If this place wanted to expand , I think finding good NYC locations would be optimal as well. I am unsure if Philly would be good or not as an additional location as a coffee culture crowd. Of course I would still come back. It was worth the 15 min walk from the convention center in this hot August weather.

I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
