I was purchasing a Kriss Vector 10mm, yet the store released my firearm to another individual who was there to pick up a Kriss Vector .45 ACP. They failed to verify the serial number before transfer which is a fundamental requirement under federal law for proper firearm disposition. This is not a clerical error. It is a breakdown in mandatory record‑keeping and transfer procedures, the very safeguards designed to prevent misidentification, theft, and unlawful possession. Confusing two serialized firearms of different calibers underscores a serious lapse in inventory control. Any FFL that mishandles serialized inventory in this way is demonstrating a dangerous disregard for regulatory obligations. Today I was rudely rejected coming in for a rifle PPT. The excuse was "no space to store the firearm during mandatory waiting time" As the seller I came from Ventura, buyer came up from Long Beach. You could change the oil on you're car faster than you could buy a pistol grip at this place. Waiting 45 minutes plus to buy a mag release and king pin is a joke. To anyone interested in buying anything gun related, I highly recommend smoking barrel and baron tactical which are both located a mile from Greta's on the same street. I honestly don't understand how Greta's has any negative reviews. This is by far the best customer service I've ever experienced at an FFL. I originally purchased a handgun here about 10 years ago and had a great experience, but I hadn't been back not because of any issues, but simply out of laziness since I have an FFL just five minutes from home. After dealing with several less-than-smooth firearm purchases at my local shop, I decided it was worth making the 30-minute drive back to Greta's. I'm glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was outstanding. Even though they had several other customers at the time, Jaime immediately came over, greeted us, and answered every question we had. While they didn't have the specific firearm we were looking for due to current high demand, they did order it for us. As I was taking care of payment, Jaime went above and beyond by assisting my wife with her grip technique and offering helpful pointers. Another gentleman also assisted us and was equally amazing, though I unfortunately didn't catch his name, but on the receipt it says Billy, so if that's you Billy, shout out to you as well for your help! Greta's has been one of my go to places since I ventured in one day window shopping. I've had a lot of negative experiences at gun stores in the LA area in the past. Sometimes you just have a question and you don't want to get an attitude or response from staff or feel like your question is dumb. The thing about Greta's is they educate you and everyone takes pride in the work they are doing. Haven't had one employee be rude despite having a wait of 10+ people at times. I've never seen this place not busy. Granted we live in odd times there's an influx of first time gun buyers and a lot of foot traffic in the shop. So there will be a wait just be patient. I recently took in a firearm for an optic placement I couldn't get the screws out for the life of me and I over torqued and stripped my screws. I was a little worried going in and it's my first time trying to mount an optic. Rather than shame me or try to screw me they took my gun had a good laugh and showed me how many came in with the same issue. When it came time to pay they charged me $10.00 for the work. It took 20 mins and I knew they were back logged on other guns they were working on. Rather than turn me away for something so small they took the time to fix it so I could zero my optic the following day. If the lines are daunting you just know you're getting great service. It's not uncommon for them to help multiple people at once because there is down time when they are reviewing paperwork. Just take a breath and wait it out. They've got a great selection of items and if you want custom work or order just ask. Whether it's your first purchase or you're a long time customer service will always be top notch. They give back to the community, law enforcement, and their customers. They do raffles for items and also great stippling work. If you're really worried about the wait give them a call and ask about down time. I don't think they've had any but it's worth a shot. read more

These guys are friendly and consummate professionals. I wish this was my LGS (Local Gun Shop) but I live about 2 hours away, even though I used to live right there in Simi Valley. I completed a PPT here and the guys were super helpful and patient with me, seeing as it was my first PPT and I had trouble getting the right documents due to weird restrictions (not their fault) with names exactly matching. My name historically has a suffix, but I no longer use it so some documents had it and some did not. It took some scrambling to get it sorted, and ultimately I had to come back another day to get it done. All told, this shop is fantastic, has a nice parking lot, has a great look and feel, and with plenty of stock. The best feature is the quality of the employees. Used to deal with Greta's often. Sold them several guns and bought several. Guns I sold on consignment, once they sold, I was NEVER notified. Had I not checked back months later, I would've never known. They were more than happy at that point to show me the fine print where it's my responsibility to check back. They DO NOT tell you this when they do paperwork to take your weapon. Which leads me to believe that they hope you forget, and they keep all your cash. They have more than enough help there that all seem to have major attitudes to make a few phone calls every day. I see this has been a complaint of several customers. I HAVE LOST TRUST IN THIS BUSINESS and will NEVER return!! FOLLOW UP TO OWNER REPLY: I didn't "FORGET" where I placed my weapon!! Just expected better customer service from you. Definitely these guys are beyond awesome!!! Ever since i found this shop i made it my favorite spot to get ammo, parts and now guns. Im definitely happy for these guys that are having good business and people to support them. To my perspective buying a firearm specially here in commiefornia its not as simple as buying sneakers, that you go in the store and within 10 min you out . It doesn't work that way. Theres a lot that goes into it. I recently acquired the brand new sig M18 and waited until they got'em delivered. I visited the store and started to fill up the paperwork, theres was couple of thing to fix in the forms and Justin guided me through the whole process. I also asked him about some shotguns that i was on the look for and he pointed me on the direction for a better Options than the ones i initially had. He really took the time to explain why they were a better options. So here comes the 10 day waiting period, during that time on their IG page, there were posts about the store been extremely busy. I took enough time in advance to go and pick up my handgun. The whole transaction took around 45 min. Like i said previously, its not like u buying sneakers. Its not like the guys were seating and scratching their heads. They were helping other costumer as well. And once it was my turn and everything went smoothly and now i have my M18 ready to take to the range. These guys take their time to make sure you have all the info you need to buy firearms. I'll try to get straight to the point with my review. My background was very, very limited in knowledge regarding 2A and the tools it protects. I went to a training class in Burbank to learn a little more and it was the best decision I had ever done. Scott the instructor was amazing and when I asked for a recommendation on a store, he named Greta's without thinking twice. First time I went to Greta's was back in mid 2021. I was timid, I was hesitant and afraid to go. I didn't have the knowledge these folks have nor the level of training. I simply didn't want to look like an idiot, but I had questions and I wanted to learn. So I went to Greta's and let me tell you, it is the only store I go to now. I live 45 minutes away WITHOUT traffic and I'll still gladly sit in traffic if that means I can go to Greta's. Their staff welcomed me with open arms. All the questions I had, they answered. All the recommendations I asked for they made. Not once did they make me feel like an idiot. Not once have they ever scoffed at me. They have never made me feel any kind of negative way. They are polite, kind, and very knowledgeable. They take their time with you and get to know you regarding what you are looking for. Their gunsmith even does some great work. I have seen people take in failed tools and they work their magic. Next thing you know, you see those same customers at the range with the repaired tool being happy as can be. Their products, selection and service speaks for themselves. Don't believe me? Walk into the store and find out. Some people say that they have really long lines. It is true. Sometimes they have some lines that you have to wait some time for. I think the longest I have waited before I got helped was around 25 minutes. But I don't mind the line because I know they are performing the same service I am talking about. They are helping someone with the same questions that I had two years ago. They are providing their time to assist you in the best way possible. Let's have some patience and let the good folks do their jobs. And in my opinion, if you complain about the line, take a breath and realize where you are standing in. The best store in California. read more

I have been a customer of Greta's since they were up on E LA Ave in a small strip mall shop and trusted them for years following them down to the new store on the East side of Simi when they moved about 17 years ago (man how times flies). These guys... what cannot be said with how awesome and professional they are? Pricing is always exceptional, they are never pompous and are always helpful. I have had firearms built by Mike, and serviced by him or his team, and every damn time is handled flawlessly. Even when there is a wait time, that wait is WELL worth it, to say the least. This IS my shop of choice, and the selection is WAY beyond anything you can get within a few hundred red miles, plus you can put in orders and requests! Well, CA Roster Compliant... Actually, I think they have far more to offer than even Bass Pro or other big names out there. BUT, check out their consignments whenever you go in... If you have any hesitation to take your guns to get worked on anywhere else reconsider and go to greats they will get it done fast and efficiently. I had a M18 slide with stripped screws I took it in to get worked on and boom not even 2 weeks go by and I receive a glorious phone call with great news that my slide is fixed with no issues and is already ready for pick up. Mind you this was late November and I thought it would take a couple months of work because of the holidays and all the projects that the gun smiths would already be working on. But to my surprise it took them less than 2 weeks! Where else are you going to get that kind of amazing service?!?! I had called around other gun smiths in town and I got higher quotes and time frames like 8 to 10 week turn around time for stripped screws. Nope, not Greta's they work efficiently and quickly and do amazing work! Love that these guys are only a few minutes away from me in Simi for all my firearm needs. This most recent time I was dealing almost exclusively with Mike (owner) and I have to stress the following points to you that are reading this review; 1) My observation is that EVERY ONE of the staff here take time to talk TO YOU and understand both what you are asking / looking for and they offer solutions if they don't have exactly what it is you are looking for / asking about. I've NEVER heard or had anyone talk down to me or another customer. NEVER! 2) Competitive pricing! Not much else needs to be said. 3) Excellent customer service! Yes, good customer service many times does consume time...please be patient as they are working as quickly as they can! Yes, you may need to wait a bit...recognize that this likely is due to the VOLUMES of paperwork that these folks need to do for many of their sales.
