Swoozie's was very inviting, as were the employees who greeted me and asked if I needed help looking for anything. The store was neat, clean and well organized. This store stocks lots of items that will help you celebrate special occasions. Gifts, cards, stationery, invitations, and decorations are among so many different quality items that they sell. Most of these items are organized into specific sections of the store. For example, just about all of the cards are in the card section, and the invitations are in the invitation section. However, gifts are spread throughout the store, so customers have to walk through the entire store to get a good idea of what they stock. The three of us looked through the whole store for a birthday gift for our ex-manager, but nothing jumped out at us. While we all agreed that they have high quality merchandise in Swoozie's, we all thought that the prices were generally expensive - more expensive than what we want to pay, unless they were on clearance.

Many shops (including a major chain) try to fill the gift space but I love to find unique items that are not everywhere. That is how I felt here. While speaking to the young lady, she told me there are only a couple of locations. This is not a chain! I like that. They had choices from gifts to decor to clothing and so much in between. My daughter has a wedding to attend next weekend and we found a dress that I thought would be perfect. It looked great on her. The other day while at work, they broke mid-step while I was simply walking. The store refuses to refund or exchange. Their excuse was that they "can't resell damaged product if they accept the return". Well, unfortunately you will also never be able to sell to this customer again. A simple refund of a measly $23 and I would have been on my way. I cannot even imagine stepping foot in their store again. You get better service from Forever 21, and that is sad. I am not familiar with other boutiques return policies, but I strongly advice you put down the cute pair of bell bottoms you see at Ensemble and go find them at another boutique who respects your business. I love the "laugh out loud gift cards". These are the cards that you read and immediately laugh out loud. My favorite birthday card today had a picture of an older woman on the front and read: Gurrrl!, 39 again? and when you open it, it says: Do you even own a mirror? I loved it and if I had a frenemy, this would be the perfect card. Unfortunately this is not a card that I would actually give to a friend but one that I would share for a good laugh. There were several of these very funny cards along with more serious ones. In the second room there was a collection of fragrances that you could actually test. They came in the form of creams, sprays, liquids and diffusers. I tested one and will be returning to purchase some because as I sit here, I am enjoying this wonderful light scent that is not overwhelming and does not cause my eyes to water. Today I picked up Wind and Willow Chili and cheese hot dip mix. I hope the product tastes as good as the picture looks. They had several varieties but I chose this one because it was lower in sodium and will pair well with my blue tortilla chips. Before purchasing, she specifically asked about the return policy and was told "30 days." Minutes later, after deciding she couldn't justify spending over $100 with tax, she attempted to return the untouched item and was told Jellycats were not returnable. That was frustrating. What happened next was far worse. When my wife called, manager Trey suggested that our daughter had taken a bracelet she had been looking at -- effectively accusing a 15-year-old girl of theft. She had simply picked up a bracelet while shopping, carried it to the Jellycat display, and set it down there before making her purchase. She went back into the store and showed the employee exactly where she had left it. Her boyfriend recorded the interaction. She walked out bawling after being treated like a thief. Rather than apologize or show any concern, Trey remained accusatory. My wife then spoke with owner Julia Butler, who was equally rude, confrontational, and dismissive. Businesses have every right to investigate theft. They do not have the right to presume a child is guilty without establishing the facts. A 15-year-old walked into this store excited to spend her own saved money and walked out sobbing after being made to feel like a criminal. The conduct of both management and ownership was disgraceful. I would strongly caution any parent before allowing their child to shop here.

Admittedly, many of those items are not something I would personally ever purchase, but they are there and could make a good souvenir for somebody visiting the state. They are certainly more tasteful than a gift shop and largely tailor towards suburban demographic that surrounds it. The staff were friendly in this little shop and the design is neat. All around, a pleasant local business that adds to the character of the neighborhood and is a pleasure to support.
