(If I could leave zero stars, I would!) I had the misfortune of visiting Gruelich's Automotive Repair Happy Valley for the first and last time on Friday April 11th for an oil change. My experience was nothing short of a nightmare. A technician failed to screw in the drain plug correctly, which resulted in my car stalling and the oil pressure warning light coming on and then all of the oil was depleted from my vehicle. I found myself stranded on the side of the road for over three hours. In a desperate attempt to resolve the situation, I called the shop and left a voicemail, expecting to hear back promptly Monday morning since they were closed Sunday. I was told that the shop manager, Chris, would get back to me. Unfortunately, that call never came. I had to call back around 1 PM, even though the shop had been open since 7:30 AM, only to feel like I was not a priority. This lack of communication and accountability cost me a day of work and a great deal of frustration. Ultimately, I had to take my car to the dealership to fix the issues caused by their negligence. It cost me hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend avoiding Gruelich's Automotive Repair if you value your time and your vehicle. Rip offs, have it towed somewhere else. Tried to get me for 3,000.00 for repairs. When home and online to research a computer sensor error and then told him to replace the sensor and then if that doesn't clear it up, well look further. It turned out to be a sensor, had oil change cost me 800.00 and I think I still got ripped off even then. Manager would even talk to me because he knew he was trying to rip an old lady off, but she showed him a thing or two too. Research and watch those estimates! Long story around Air conditioning. This location misdiagnosed issue multiple times which led to a large delay as we waited for a part it turned out we did not even need when they finally decided to install it. This company can be very misleading. We paid for an AC recharge even though it did not work and have not been able to get our money back. I'm not sure they have very good mechanics at this location either. They are friendly, but that is about it. read more

Mine is a VERY long story involving several locations and ending with this one. My advice is to STAY AWAY there are plenty of better places to trust with your vehicle. I was a regular at one of the Scottsdale locations which unfortunately had a revolving door of technicians resulting in ultimately maintenance/fixes being reported and billed for that were not even addressed. For example, my vehicle needed a wiring harness replaced and I knew exactly what the damage was prior to bringing it in so when I popped the hood after almost immediately seeing a check engine light on the way home I saw there was literally nothing different about the harness that was supposedly replaced per my invoice. My life had me in a new location in the valley before I could commit any time to this, and once I completed my move I spoke with the staff and even the regional manager and agreed to bring the car to this location being closer to me although playing phone tag almost daily to try and get the staff and reg. mgr to all be on the same page dragged things out for WEEKS. They finally checked the vehicle out and found another $1500 worth of repairs were needed and the generous regional rep offered a discount. Well, I arrived after the car was in their hands for those weeks and the airbag light was on... And their records inside show a photo of my dash with that light showing. Huh, theres 0% chance I would be driving around with that showing so now I proceed to get gaslighted saying they recorded this condition upon arrival. The work wasn't finished either the harness wasn't replaced. Who knows what they actually do at these places when you get overcharged for labor hours and materials?? I had a staff member hand me my keys and shake my hand that day I came in to pay for everything and pick it up telling me that there was a low voltage scenario that came up and they replaced my car battery as a courtesy...great thanks. As soon as I get in the car I realize that everything inside had been rifled through and things were stolen out of the car such as a pair of sunglasses and a bag full of coin currencies that I had stored in the glove box. In a nutshell the manager claimed 0 liability for this, and they had no internal evidence after reviewing their video security footage. Great, thanks for the additional problems! Well, it turns out after going to the dealership to figure out what was causing the airbag light that both the airbag module and and passenger seat module had been completely defective out of the blue and in need of replacement (citing over $2000 worth of repair costs). I'm NOT an expert in these things but my understanding is that these expensive internal parts do NOT just fail out of the blue. When I confronted them with this whole situation regarding the battery replacement, of which they had ZERO written records of (though I was able to confirm the brand of battery was theirs with the person who verbally explained the replacement had occurred), I was continually gaslighted that the vehicle was like that when it arrived and they speculated that it must be related to a third party radio I had professionally installed SEVEN YEARS ago with ZERO history of any related problems. In summary, by entrusting my vehicle with this crooked business I lost my valuables that were stored in the vehicle, possibly paid for maintenance/repairs that was not completed, followed the advice and guidance of underqualified or unscrupulous technicians who are in the business to mislead customers into expensive and ineffective repairs, and my vehicle suffered a MAJOR catastrophic electrical event that destroyed internal components that this band of thieves claims zero liability for. I hope this anecdote steers anyone away from this shady business in favor of trying your luck anywhere else! read more

I ended up having to drive to a different store because they didn't have the proper equipment to perform the job. I never received a phone call telling me any of this. And I didn't receive a follow up phone call afterwards with an apology. Tried to take advantage of my sister because of her extremely limited knowledge of mechanics, didn't attempt to fix the problem the car came in for, proper notes were never taken, was dismissive, poor mechanic. My sister had me come diag her car a week ago because it made a rattling noise on start up. First thing I noticed was the belt tensioner was bouncing way more than it should. It's a 2010 Camry and I don't get paid to be a mechanic, so while I could have fixed it myself I recommended that she take it in. I gave her a prompt for what to say: Hi, my belt tensioner spring is wearing out and causing the tensioner to make extra noise on start up. Please replace the belt tensioner and inspect the other related components. If there are other related issues please call me for approval before any extra work is done. Thank you. She called me today to tell me that Greulich's had called to tell her there was silicone all over her oil filter seal and they were going to need to look into this issue because silicone could have gotten in the motor and was likely the cause of a rod knock. Also she was concerned that they had texted that they were beginning the diag and 13 minutes later called to say the diag was done and this was the issue. Someone before she bought the car messed up the sealing surface for the oil filter and now a liquid gasket material is required to seal it. Regardless, it was in for a belt tensioner. So I went in with her to pick it up (according to her the tone was much different, they'd been very talkative with her and now they were mostly quiet). I asked what problems they'd found. The guy at the front desk pulled up pictures of the oil filter and started talking about the silicone. Why are we looking at the oil filter when it was brought in for a belt tensioner? Then he brought up the notes from their phone call, "rattling noise on start up, could be a pulley." So they never even took notes about the belt tensioner. Then the mechanic Joe walks in, the guy behind the desk asked about the car and the mechanics reply was, "nothing is wrong with the belt tensioner, it's got a rod knock." So I asked the guy behind the desk how long Joe has been a mechanic... "long time bud." That's interesting because any mechanic worth their salt can see when a belt tensioner is going out. I always caution the girls in my life to never take their vehicles to a mechanic shop without a guy with them... this is why. Its embarrassing that the industry hasn't improved in this aspect and I would be embarrassed to work at Greulich's. We took the car to a different shop, I did the talking. The front desk guy wanted to look at the car, my sister was thankful for that because apparently Greulich's never showed interest in seeing her car on drop off. She popped the hood and started the car, first thing he said was ohh ya that belt tensioner is obviously going out. read more

Was told yesterday needed wheel alignment, tires 1 year old, alignment 1 year old performed by Greulich, now 5000 miles later. So today took to another not to be identified shop for alignment (which would have been $40 less with store coupon), same machine, same computer printout, except all green, no yellows or reds like the Greulich report. And no alignment done. And was told how their report was diffenent from Greulich's, and it is about the technician, and a slight movement of the steering wheel while computer analyzes. The store I was it is the one at Scottsdale and Shea. Not about to return, be careful out there, shop around, get a 2nd opinion, just like you would if the doc told you that surgery was needed. read more

We had a great experience with Greulich's on Happy Valley Rd. Our A/C went out in our vehicle, which was absolutely awful - especially with a baby in a car seat. We scheduled an early morning appointment and found out a very expensive hose was leaking. The guys made us feel like a priority. We got our SUV back within 2 days after many hours of labor. They even ordered us a Lyft ride back and forth from our home. The labor was a bit pricey because of the location of the leak, but you get what you pay for. Technician here broke our axle, yes, they paid for the replacement, but once we got the car back, the car alignment is completely screwed up. We bring it back because obviously it's their technicians fault for our alignment being messed up, and the guy working has a pissed off bitch face on his face while i'm explaining what's going on. I would not trust this location with any of your properties. My car was stolen. On November 17, 2023, I dropped off my project car a Jeep Cherokee 93'. The reason for it being dropped off was because it wouldn't pass Emissions (had an EVAP leak) The vehicle was not touched for a couple of days for its inspection. After communicating with them, they ran a full inspection of the vehicle and showed me the report. It came back that there were a few things that needed attention. Since this was a project car I mentioned that we should tackle the issues one step at a time, my priority was to just have it pass Emissions so it could be properly registered. A couple of days pass and I get a call back that they think it was just an oversized hose. I ok the fix for the hose and they have me run the vehicle through Emissions. The vehicle does not pass emissions so it's dropped off again at Greulich's. This time around the workers at the Emissions place marked the hose where the EVAP leak was occurring. I live nearby so I know my vehicle has not been worked on. I decided to give them a call and they told me if they wanted to proceed they needed to drop the gas tank, but they honestly thought it was a problem with the catalytic converter. After failed attempts explaining to them that the hose with the problem was already marked for them I ended the phone call with I'll be over in person so we can figure out a game plan to get this vehicle registered. On December 11 at 7 am I got a call from police officers asking me if I was the owner of a Jeep Cherokee 93' that had been found stripped to nothing on the road of Deer Valley over the weekend. The shop never reported my vehicle stolen and does not want to answer for my losses. Aside from their no response to the incident, the District manager, Chris is telling me that leaving my car with them is like leaving my car at Walmart overnight. Coincidentally there are no cameras where they parked my vehicle. read more

Incompetence almost caused me a very bad accident. After smelling strong gasoline smell I took my car to a different mechanic only to hear my gas fuel pump is broken. Well, Greulich's REPLACED it only a year before. Not wanting to pay AGAIN, I took it back to Greulich's to fix what they probably never replaced in the first place. I picked up my car and had to drive about 45 minutes to work. Suddenly while on a major highway my car started shuddering very violently! I could not pull over safely on a major highway. In fear, I finally made it to safety. Had to get my car towed to back to Greulich's. Greulich's never tightened the bolts on the drive shaft and the front bolts fell out while I was driving!! DO YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS THAT IS???? My car could have catapulted while driving 65 mph down the highway!!! DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE IN THEIR HANDS! read more

They are very communicative with their repairs and I appreciated that since it was my only form of transportation, I needed to be in the know. I went to the dealer for a vacuum pump repair and am still getting over the shock of the price. I took their estimate to Greulich's and had them give me their estimate. Theirs was much lower and had a number of items free of charge. Made the appointment, took it in. They had Lyft take me back home and then come get me when it was done. Their estimate of time was two days but said they would do it as soon as possible. They did exactly that. I got it back that afternoon and it was a lot of work with filter changes and other things. (They did forget the wiper blades I had in the back seat but that's OK.) They could not have been more courteous or efficient. They gave me a briefing on what was wrong and even had the old parts for me to look at, unusual for a car repair shop. read more

Where do I start, first don't go here! These guys are so nice and it makes you feel so comfortable and you feel like everything is going to go great............. Not the case, Before I brought my truck in I called them and let them know that I did get it scanned three times and I had the code for them and I let them know what the codes were. It was one code on all three diagnostics. The code was a front brake solenoid. I had it towed over there, they did the diagnostic again and said six codes came in and it was my transmission and that I need a new one. They quoted me $5300 to rebuild my transmission or $7500 for a new transmission..???? What??? They really thought they were going to get away with this and I wonder how many people they overcharged not by a little but by triple the prices!!! I specifically told them exactly what it was and apparently they think that everybody they deal with is dumb! These guys should be ashamed of themselves and should not be in business, how could you possibly overcharge people like this??? When I told him to forget it I'll take it somewhere else they told me that I owed them almost $200 for the diagnostic! Are you kidding me? 200$?? It shouldn't be any more than 80 and that's the maximum! I did finally find somebody I could trust through a friend and it was the front brake solenoid!! Hmmmm go figure. The cost was $650 to get it taken care of. Please people use your heads, Don't fall for the BS at this shop. I have told a lot of people that I know what happened and half of them went through the same thing with this shop!
