Incomplete diagnostic cost me $3,300 I brought my Ford Ranger to Cathedral Automotive after driving through standing water -- the water level was above the tires, and I made that very clear when I dropped it off. I specifically asked them to do a full diagnostic given the high likelihood that water had entered the engine and other components. They found water in the engine, addressed it, and told me everything was good to go. Two days later, my transmission failed. When I brought it back, they told me they don't work on transmissions and referred me elsewhere. When I asked why they cleared the truck without checking the transmission -- an obvious concern given the water level I described -- I didn't get a satisfying answer. This is a basic oversight. If water reached the engine, any thorough mechanic should know to check the transmission as well. They either skipped it or didn't think it through, and I paid $3,300 for that gap in their inspection. If you're bringing a vehicle in for serious damage, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere that will do a truly comprehensive assessment rather than a partial one. A diagnostic is only worth something if it's complete. read more

AAA auto wanted to replace all a/c parts to solve cooling problem. They waited almost 3000.00 just for that plus transmission leak gaske for about another 300.00 Cathedral auto found transmission fill tube needed a o ring. no charge which fixed the leak. Ac system required evacuate system and refill. Recently tho, my headlight fuse stopped working. I was also preparing to go to California for a road trip and I decided to come back to these guys. I had a metal plate hanging off the bottom of my car from hitting debris in the road on a car I had just bought. I wasn't able to drive it over curbs without pulling it farther off the car.
