Not so strange until that's exactly what needed to be fixed on my car for thousands of dollars....... a car that's having directionality issues. I'm no mechanic, but I wasn't born yesterday and can type things into google. They claimed that the housings for my strut and shock assemblies were cracked and needed replacing. That's a very specific claim. Anyways I took it to National Automotive down the road and actually got taken care of. It was the sway link bar. No issues with the housing of the strut or shock assemblies. The car drives like a dream now, no thanks to Japanese Auto Pros. Saved a few thousand dollars by not taking their word at face value. The funny thing is I might have trusted them if they treated me with more respect. One of their workers (presumably a manager) told me they don't have time to call my warranty company for me and started playing the world's smallest violin for completely avoidable staffing issues. So as the customer I had to deal with that all myself (whatever, but it's not standard). Long story short, y'all are weird. Also, lose my number and stop spam texting me please.

So I started bringing my car there for annual maintenance and was quite satisfied. A few months ago during my annual maintenance they told me I needed new bushings and control arms that would be almost $7000. To say I was shocked was an understatement. A friend recommended I take my car to Tony's Auto Service Center, located at 5602 E Thomas Rd, which I did and asked they check out the bushings and control arms. They called me several hours later to say I DID NOT need new bushings and control arms. They said that a vehicle with 54K miles on it is no where near requiring this repair. They said they don't see vehicles requiring this repair until after at least 100K miles, especially Toyotas. In addition, after checking Car Fax, to which apparently mechanics report every car repair they perform, they noted that at 30K miles they performed a maintenance type repair that isn't required until 50K miles. As a retired single woman I feel like they took advantage of me by lying about what had to be done on my car. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I cannot begin to tell you how upset I am. DO take your car to Tony's Auto Service Center, even though it may be far from where you live. Call 480-945-7788 and ask for Mike or Scott and tell them Bob's friend Cindy referred you. You will not be disappointed.

When I picked up my car, the cruise control was no longer working. When I brought this to their attention, I was met with skepticism, as if my concern wasn't valid. That was frustrating, especially since I know my vehicle and how it was operating prior to service. They asked to keep the car for further inspection, which I agreed to. A couple of days later, they informed me the issue had been "fixed." However, when I asked what the problem was, I was told it was the cruise control switch. What raised serious concerns for me was what came next. When I asked for documentation or a repair record, I was told there was none--because the mechanic had paid for the part out of his own pocket. That explanation simply does not sit right. If a repair was performed, there should always be documentation--regardless of who paid for the part. Transparency is basic professionalism. The lack of paperwork, combined with the fact that the system was working before my visit, strongly suggests something happened while the vehicle was in their care. More disappointing than anything was that no one took responsibility, and no apology was offered. Mistakes can happen in any shop--but honesty and accountability matter. Because of this experience, I will not be returning.
