Had my car serviced here about a month ago. Shop is always busy, but when you run an honest business, that's what happens. I went back on a Saturday morning because there was an oil drip under my car and I had to drive to south Tucson in about an hour. They managed to get my car up on a lift to check it out, despite being short one technician. 20 minutes later they handed me my keys and said I was all set. I asked how much as I pulled out my wallet. Jason said, you owe nothing, we should have replaced the oil plug gasket when we did your oil change, this is on us. Greulich's does high quality work on all types of vehicles and they know what they are doing for advanced repairs. I had them fix an oil leak, install a new clutch/flywheel, get new spark plugs, oil changes, etc. They also don't waste time and get repairs done quick. It's trustworthy mechanic. The Cons are basically what every negative review has touched upon, their pricing. Except for a few common things like oil changes, they rarely do bundle pricing for labor and parts. Instead, they write estimates on most operations like they're a dealership shop, including mechanical labor rates which are of course well over $100 an hour. I had an oil change and got a tune-up (new spark plugs) and it costs $900+. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that way of writing estimates, it's just very expensive for the consumer. They need bundle pricing so things are cheaper for the consumer. Overall, they are reliable and trustworthy mechanic shop. They just aren't the most value-priced mechanic in town. read more

Anthem Arizona location. BEWARE! Extremely RUDE, VULGAR, HATEFUL, person checking in customers. I witnessed him use GD, F, MF, and even called someone a Dick, while checking in a female customer. This was around 1 pm on March 7th 2026. He was VERY rude when I declined to have my cabin air filter replaced. After he hung up the phone he called the people MF's, and was so intimidating and hateful, my stomach was in knots and I felt like I was go to vomit. They also left the cover of my cabin filter laying on the dash. To start with, I only asked for an oil change and NEVER asked them to do anything other than that. They weren't authorized to take my cabin filter apart. What should have been a 20-39 minute oil change, ended up taking an hour and 40 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I watched from the lobby, and they didn't check air in tires, or brakes, or serpentine belt, however they said I needed an alignment, brakes, and a belt. My tires were just rotated 5 days prior, and are new as of 3 months ago, and they said they saw extreme tire wear, so alignment was bad. Also stated my belt was cracked and coming apart. Not true. Also brakes were replaced in December and they reported only 5-7% left on them. These people are scammers and thieves!!! Liars! read more

School/Germann requested $10,000 to release the vehicle to the owner, beware of excessive charges being added on after work completion, I had to pay the $10,000 to get the vehicle released; CRAZY!!! Should have filed a lawsuit to recover at least 50% of excessive charges !!! read more

"I've seen some less than favorable reviews on social media about Greulich but thought I would still give them a try. While I cannot comment on the work they provide, I can comment on their pricing... Had an estimate from a dealership service center which was about $3,900 out the door. Asked Greulich for a second opinion hoping that an independent shop would be less expensive than a dealership. THAT ASSUMPTION IS WRONG! Greulich came back at over $4k out the door. When I expressed my concern, I was offered to send him the dealer estimate and they would "try to beat it". How about you offer me the best price first, instead of haggling and negotiating? The social media buzz about this place NOT being independent anymore and expensive pricing seems to be true. Why would you use an independent if they are more expensive than the dealership? Went here based on a recommendation but had bad service resulting a non repaired car. Had to have our car towed over knowing that we were vulnerable to this recommended mechanic for a failed water pump and serpentine belt. The estimate was $1800 including a need to change radiator hoses, brake fluid flush and thermometer change repairable by end of day. This also included another new belt that we already purchased. I had to call for them to reconsider this, which was received with a maybe. Due to the high costs I asked for the minimum needed to repair the car to drivable conditions, the rate was reduced to $1300 for removing work with the radiator hose, thermometer and brake flush. Then 4 hours later I was called for $200+ more and keeping the car 5 more days. I asked why and what reference book was used for "Times & Parts Estimating Guide". The rep was pissed and swiftly informed me to come pick up the car. Just be your own advocate and come with knowledge so you aren't ripped off and more. I had taken our 2007 Nissan FJ in for problems with the power steering pump. They diagnosed the problem along with some additional issues that warranted repair. Jake Reed, Service Advisor along with his repair team did a fantastic job! They communicated professionally and on a timely basis the status of the repair. Searching for a trustworthy auto repair shop I decided to give them a try. I found them to be thorough, knowledgeable and professional. Front desk service advisors were polite and very helpful with explaining the issues of my car. They provide free Lyft service (within a reasonable distance). I've used them 3 times now and my repair exceptions were meet. Their repairs aren't inexpensive but quality auto service that I can trust pays off in volumes when I'm not getting stuck somewhere in BFE! read more

Had my mothers car towed in to the Surprise location for overheating and a diagnosis. After 2 days, more interested in upselling than fixing the problem towed in for (the two parts, $16.00 and $22.00) to fix the overheating. Then broke the inside lip on the filler neck of a 1 yr old radiator doing pressure testing. Also missed two broken vacuum lines in the emission system. After 2 parts, a replacement radiator and 4.5 hours of my time the vehicle is running again. Stay away from this place!!!!!! Dr. M read more

On Dec 4, I took my Dodge Ram to Brake Masters on Ray Road. They did a diagnostic, misfired fuel injector which had to be replace. They couldn't do it because they didn't have time that day. So, the next morning, Dec 5, I took it to Greulich's on 48th and Elliot. After a $200 diagnostic, they recommended a $1200 tune up. No kidding, I swear this. On the estimate, they had a paragraph about the fuel injector, but would a tune up had fix a misfired fuel injector? Interesting on the estimate that I got, that the $1200 tune up was not on it! I went to their website to do a complaint, they never responded. What a scam. If they had replied and tried to work with me, I would have never gone back to this location but since they did not, I will never go to any of their locations. On 3/21/25 Greulich's Automotive / Sun Auto Brand @ 10827 S. 48th St. Phoenix AZ. 85044 replaced the valve covers on my 2015 Ford f-150. When doing so they broke a valve to the Turbo's and at least one other fitting causing damage to the turbo's and turbo malfunction witch threw a code and check engine light to come on within 2 blocks of the shop. Greulichs as replaced the broken fittings and the valve that they broke but refuses to replace the damaged turbo's that their negligence caused. I was told to drive the truck with the broken parts and bring it back on the next business day. The malfunction and codes kept happening over the next many weeks. On or about 5/5/2025 the malfunction happened when I was in Colorado, I called the shop to report the problem. They told me to drive the truck (600 miles) with the malfunction in progress and with the code and check engine light still on then bring it to the shop when I get to Phoenix. When they broke the parts Greulichs Automotive should have never let the truck be driven until the repairs were made. Greulichs refuses to replace the turbo's and wants to charge me $4400 to replace the damaged turbo's caused by them and should be comped by Greulich's read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a repair shop that charges $179 an HOUR GREULICH #36! My old shop is $115, but the say they have a two year warranty, I say SO WHAT! I'm a 71 year old veteran with over 30 years in automotive test and develop and I told them that and to put a top tech on my job. They keep a clean shop and their inspection process is good. Here's the reason for the ONE rating: 11/24/2023 I called for an oil leak repair which I figured was a rear main seal. I was told $1250, I said ok, it ended up being $1749.96. So I take the vehicle into their shop, clean inside and out. They do inspection, and said it wasn't rear main and that they do a dye test in the oil to find the leak and also steam clean the underneath which they charge you for and told me it was the oil pan gasket, so I said do the oil pan gasket. Then they said you need you need trans, engine mounts and front axle mounts which they said was oil soaked. They do the work which took about a week. I pick up my vehicle and asked to go out with me to look at it. It has hand grease prints on my white door and hood, the guy went and cleaned it. Opened the hood and the steering gear worm gear bearing lock nut was loose, I had asked them to adjust it, but he didn't tighten the lock nut, I did when I got home. They wanted over $400 for a leaky injector bad O ring, I started it and said it's NOT leaking and if it was, I would of smelled gas, the service writer told me it would of burned off on the exhaust lol, the injectors are on the intake side of the engine, not close to the exhaust. Ok so I said where are all the parts they took off, he said he didn't know, so we went inside and I said to the two guys it says right on my estimate "All parts removed will be saved for the customers inspection and to take with them if they want.... they never heard of that so I showed on the estmate. My parts were thrown away but he bragged about his clean shop, The service writer lijes to inflate the estimate for things you don't ask for, radiator flush, brake fluid flush, trash fluid flush, so watch your estimates, I made him take them off. I also found they charged me for freon on my AC system that doesn't work because it has a hole in the line, they refunded my money. This is not my daily driver and a wrench had never been on it, it sets in my garage most the time. I looked under the vehicle and I could still see the caked on dirt and oil, like it had before, fail on the steam cleaning. So I jack it up and find the tech broke off one oil pan bolt and stripped out another that I found out just lately looking at the broken oil pan bolt repair. The I find after I was told that they fixed the broken off file filter clamp bolt WAS NOT Fixed, but I was told it was. I don't know who's lieing, but some one sure is! The service writer tried to tell me the oil pan bolt was already broken, it says on line 9, I said BS, there was no such thing in the paperwork and you could tell it was a fresh break, so he was just lieing to cover someone's screw UP! On top of it all they didn't fix the oil leak after charging to change the oil pan gasket they said it was the upper pan gasket and for that they would have to pull the engine! What happened to the oil detection dye to find the oil leak. I said why did you change the oil pan gasket when that wouldn't fix the leak? That's the second bad diagnosis that cost me a lot of money! Nod I have to take it to a reliable shop and have them fix the oil leak and all the damage of broken and stripped bolts they did! I have three cars and I WOULD NEVER, NEVER, TAKE MY VEHICHLE BACK TO GREULICH SHOP # 36 OR ANY OF THE OTHERS!!! PEOPLE BEWARE, this is as honest of a review I could give and hopefully no one has to go through something likr this nightmare. I left names out on purpose, I'm not wanting to get anyone fired, just give an honest service estimate with the customer being informed what's on it and someone needs to follow up on the jobs being done in that shop before they go out. For anyone wondering if Greulich automotive is a reputable car repair shop, I say to you yes!! I had them work on my dodge Ram after the Dodge dealership couldn't be honest with me about my repairs. In fact Dodge claimed to have done the repairs and charged me for it. yet I later found out they didn't do the repairs correctly. Greulich Automotive did a fantastic job fixing my truck. They were so honest that they even fixed one repair without charging me for what the dealer failed to do. Thank you guys for all the honesty and support you guys have given me. They took 6 weeks to diagnose our problem. They quoted us $10,000 more than the other quotes to replace our engine. While we looked for another shop to complete the work, the had our car towed away despite us being in constant contact with them and then telling us the car was fine there. They towed the car an hour away and put it in a junk lot. It cost us over $600 to get back. They trashed our car while it was there, tearing apart the whole car including the trunk!!! Also when the had the car towed, they lost the $200 key! I will NEVER recommend this shop or go there again!!! read more

I have been coming to this Greulich's location for oil changes for 2+ years. I recently scheduled an oil change for this past Saturday, 2/18 and I received a call on Saturday morning from Dustin at Greulich's asking for me to reschedule as they were short staffed. If I was willing to change my appointment, I would receive my oil change complimentary. I changed my appointment to Monday, 2/20. When I went in to Greulich's for my appointment, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. After my car was finished, Dustin made sure I was not charged for my oil change. Took my car into this shop for a transmission issue. $180 to diagnose the problem. Had to ask if that fee would be applied to a repair and sales guy conceded yes. Repair estimate seemed high. Initially charged me an extra $20 in additional shop fees for diagnosis before they credited that fee back with a refund of $20. When I left I had a new "!" repair light pop up on my dashboard with no explanation. I will never return here or recommend. read more

I made an appointment about a week ago to have a premium 60,000 mile servicing done. I talked to Anthony and he told me the cost would be in the 600-700 dollar range. When I got there he said it would be 1200 dollars. HE LIED! To make matters worse they said they were too busy to do the work today.They had plenty of time to order the parts and fluids. UNACCEPTABLE especially since I have been a customer since 2007. It also is a 45 minute drive from Maricopa. Since Bret left the company they have gone downhill big time. I sent a few of my friends there over the years. They have told that they tried to sell them services that weren't need. I called this morning around 7am to reschedule my appointment and I was told I would receive a call back later to do so. By 4 pm I still had not received a scheduling call, so I called the shop myself. I was put on hold for 10 minutes before the phone then disconnected. I received no call back from there. My car is not in great shape, I need to service my brakes in order to drive safely right now, so being unable to create an appointment and prolonging this process by a few days was very irritating as I work long and busy days. CHARGED $85.58 FOR A GAS CAP -LIED TO MY FACE -DIDN'T DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. First......I was told the diagnostic would be $169. If I allow them to do the repairs, they would not charge me the diagnostic fee. I allowed them to do $1797 in repairs and they still charged me half, $84.50. Second.....I was told they would do a complete vehicle inspection and tell me everything that is wrong with my vehicle. I intended to repair everything that's wrong with my vehicle. I was only told I needed a catalytic converter, vapor canister vent solenoid and a new fuel tank gas cap. I know there are other things that need fixing. They didn't do a complete vehicle inspection. They checked the codes on the check engine light, which revealed the three items I allowed them to fix. I wanted to repair everything. Third....They charged me $85.58 for a fuel tank cap. I searched GM for original Cadillac parts. The fuel cap is not $85.58. I was OVERCHARGED to say the least. Lastly..... When I picked up my vehicle, I asked for the old catalytic converter. I was told there's a core charge of $450. The clerk said he needed to give the old catalytic converter to the vendor to get his money back. What money? I paid $867 for the new part. As I was questioning the clerk about the core charge, the fact that I wasn't told about a core charge, and nothing was in writing, he became upset, dismissive and disrespectful. He took the keys back from the counter as is if I was going to run out the door with my keys without paying. I paid for the repairs and I let him know that I'm in the legal field, and that he would be receiving notice. As I was sitting outside in my truck speaking to a mechanic friend, who told me they were lying and there is no core charge for a catalytic converter, the clerk walks out to my truck and said, "a coworker told me there is no core charge and they would load the catalytic converter in my truck". He knew he was lying and I wasn't going to allow him to get away with it. read more

I am always a little worried when something is wrong with the car. Never sure I can trust what they say is wrong. But I went into Greulich's the other day because I could smell rubber burning. I was worried about tires or belts. I went to the 48th street location and they looked it over and found a plastic bag had somehow wrapped around the exhaust pipe. They cleaned it up for me a dnd didn't charge me. I was stunned. What a great experience. I've gone there for basic auto changes, but never when anything was wrong. Good job guys. And thank you! If there's such a thing, these guys are honest car repair guys. They do a thorough inspection, ie brakes, tires, fluids, etc. They "repaired" my check engine light issue to the tune of approximately $600, however, that stupid light came right back on about 2 weeks later. I took my car in and was told they couldn't get me in for like, 10 days. Wait, you had my car 4 days, told me it was repaired and then didn't prioritize me when your "repair" failed? Whatever the check engine issue is, the light comes on and goes off for days at a time, so I needed it repaired while the light was on then, when they were able to "fit me in", the light was off. It's been 4 months now and I'm unsure whether they'll honor their work guarantee. read more

Horrible customer service!! Made an appointment for an oil change. Was running late with kids and raining. I called their shop to let them know but no answer. Instead of taking longer and continuing to call I hurried to their shop. Got there and old man up front turned me away. Said if I would have called or made it a priority to get there on time they would have held my appointment. Did I mention it's Christmas Eve and I was 15 minutes late??? At the beginning of November I took my car in for a clunking noise it was making when I took a sharp turn at low speed. They told me it was my front struts so I paid to replace. I got my car back and it was making the same noise so I contacted them and they took a look and tightened up some things and told me to drive it 300 miles. Still the same noise and the staff affirmed they can still hear it. So they inspected again and said it was my engine and transmission mounts. This was at beginning of December. The manager Dustin said they would fix for free as this was obviously the issue I brought it in for. But, parts were back ordered and it was going to be about a month. I took it in the beginning of January and they told me they replaced all the mounts. They even showed me old mounts. Went on a test drive, still the same noise. Dustin told me he was "ready to quit" because he couldn't figure out my car. So I paid to take it to the dealership who diagnosed engine and transmission mounts and told me they were never replaced but did confirm the front struts were. I have tried to report this to someone higher in the company since I am being lied to by the store manager and filed a BBB complaint a week ago and I still have not been contacted. I am still left with a car that is having the same problem as 3 months ago when I first took it in. I have been patient waiting for them to make it right and still nothing. Now, I am not getting any response from this company. Disappointing as I used to go to a different store when I lived in a different part of town and had good experiences. In all of my years of taking my vehicles to various auto shops, there have only been 2 that I can recall that are completely honest and trustworthy. This Greulichs location is one of them and it is my go-to facility for anything that my vehicles need. I love the fact that they have never tried to "sell" me a product or service that I did not need as many auto shops (especially auto dealers) do. I therefore have complete confidence that they will take excellent care of my vehicles. All of the work they have done on my vehicles over the years has been high quality and at a fair price. The most recent work involved a cut transmission cooler line on a Nissan Titan. Had I gone to the local Nissan dealer, I'm pretty sure they would have tried to sell me a new $6,000 transmission. But not Greulichs. They replaced the line, added new tranny fluid and I was good to go! read more

Terrible business ethics. I called on the phone days before my appointment, told Tony what was wrong, asked if they would do a trans fluid flush on my beetle and they said they'd look at it and it would be a possibility. Awesome! So I set up an appointment, Get down there and they ask what the car was doing (typical symptoms for when a trans flush needs to be done) and he said "sounds like you need a new transmission" and I said well no I just had it looked at by aamco. Shifting delays are entailed with dirty fluid, just because it's having issues with shifting doesn't mean you need the whole thing replaced seriously?? So I left and called the store and spoke with the assistant manager. He talked over me, was kinda stand off ish from the beginning and persisted to keep arguing with me! Keep in mind they didn't even look at my car like they were supposed to, they just sent me on my way and made a bald assumption. When I asked for his name I remembered that he was THE SAME GUY THAT SET UP MY DIAGNOSTICS APPOINTMENT! Tony said that I wanted the service done that day which was not true!
