I wouldnt give it one star if I could. They kept my 21 year old daughter stuck in Wichita for 24 hours. Because her bus got lost, yes that's right no one could find it. After the many phone calls complaining from numerous families we got nowhere. Thankfully she is now on her way To Kansas City but we dont know what is happening from there.the only reason they are doing that is because it is open 24 hours. She had to stay outside for 7 hours in a city she doesnt know because they close their building. She is supposed to be home by 9 tonight but that is not going to happen. I blasted them on twitter and got a response to call a new number but they just told us to call the terminal like everyone else. I paid for her a ticket so she could come tell her grandfather goodbye. This company is a joke and needs shut down. They are absolutely no help whatsoever. Customer service is an absolute joke. They gave us a run around and would not work on getiithey even placed us on hold and picked it back up pretending to be another person. I will be demanding my money back. I paid for a service to be done by a certain time and they have not came through on their end. Shame on you Greyhound. I will be blasting you on every website I can find. I just recently took a connecting bus from Amtrak Chicago union station to Indianapolis. It was a greyhound bus that picked me up and the driver checked my ticket and told me to place my bag by the side of the bus so that he could put it underneath the bus where all the luggage goes after he was done checking everyone in. I did as he said and boarded the bus. It wasn't until I got to Indianapolis that when I went to go grab my luggage that they couldn't find it. They searched the entire bottom part of the bus where the luggage is kept and didn't find it. This also happened to another girl who boarded the bus the same time I did. Both of our luggage is now lost somewhere. My thought is that the driver of the bus just left it next to the bus in Chicago and drove away. So now my luggage is no where to be found. I have contacted both greyhound and Amtrak to see if they have any idea where it could be or check cameras to see if he loaded it into the bus but they keep saying well if you bought the ticket through Amtrak then greyhound has nothing to do with it or if you rode a greyhound bus then Amtrak has nothing to do with it. This will be the third time my husband and I have tried to change our Greyhound tickets. The first time we went in, we tried to change them from March 3rd to March 7th, the employee working printed us off a ticket and told us we could use them anytime we decided to, and that this meant we only had to arrive a few hours prior to departure to ensure our seats. However, when we did try to leave we were told that the bus was sold out, and this happened on two separate occasion. So at that point we asked another employee working at this branch if she could make our tickets official so that it wouldn't have to be limbo. She had us believing that we'd be able to leave tomorrow, however on the website it says this bus is sold out and our tickets don't have the date on them. So it looks like we won't be able to leave until Monday. This is unacceptable! If we don't get on the bus leaving tomorrow we are fully expecting a refund. We cannot keep being delayed and lied to by their employees. Expecting a refund from this company is wishful thinking, though. I have traveled with Greyhound on a few occasions and have never ONCE had a good experience. I always leave thinking "Never again", and am ALWAYS astonished by how incompetent and unreliable they are. I was once delayed 16 hours; The bus we were on broke down in the middle of the night and we had to wait 8 hours at a remote gas station in the cold, only to get on a bus that broke down again! We were once again stranded on the side of the road, this time in 90 degree heat, for 8 additional hours. I never saw a refund. Unless I am properly compensated or adequately helped, I will honestly be able to say this is the worst company/system available for travel & otherwise. Until proven wrong, I can say with strong conviction that Greyhound does not value their customers nor care to be helpful. You would be wise to use Megabus instead ! read more

I bought a 60 day pass to visit family and friends in the United States. It was expensive but I thought it would be cheaper than driving. It takes three times as long to get anywhere on the Greyhound. The employees are dirty and ignorant (especially in the smaller towns) it is as if they have absolutely NO supervision. I have seen customer service reps take personal calls on their cell phones while customers were waiting in line. The buses are outdated and filthy. Even after the buses are "Cleaned" there is still dust everywhere and stains on the seats. The air on the bus is a combination of roach spray, air freshener, piss, feces and that blue stuff in the toilet. On the new buses the Internet seldom worked and there were few working outlets. They all had the same "low" air quality. There was midnight entertainment on the bus. There are NO camera on the bus. It is very unsafe. Every night people were stealing or "fist" fighting especially in "urban" areas". I have never seen such beast mentalities in my life. The "Urban" bus drivers were amazingly unprofessional they were either on their cell phones or had head sets on listening to music while driving through heavy traffic. My biggest memory I have is the respiratory and eye infection I picked up while riding the Greyhound. Which had me bedridden for over a week. read more

My first time traveling via Greyhound to Chicago, this station was an improvement upon other cities' terminals, especially in Cincinnati or Columbus. Spacious, full of light, decent bathroom, and they offered a mini-survey once I got off the bus there. Located just a block away from the Clinton CTA Blue Line station, so getting to other parts of the city is fairly easy. read more

They honestly don't care about their customers at all once they've gotten their money. It should be incredibly telling that you have to pay for the privilege to be able to get a refund. I was supposed to get on a bus to Green Bay a few days ago. I waited for an hour at the bus prior to the boarding time. During that period, I didn't hear one single announcement about how baggage was supposed to be checked and nothing was mentioned about it on my ticket either. They call for us to board the bus and I hand my driver the ticket only to be told by the person loading luggage that I'd need a baggage claim ticket from customer service. So me and another passenger mosey on to customer service and wait in line. I come back right at the time the bus should be leaving only to find that it had left a while ago. The bus driver had left with my ticket and I was treated like I'd been an incompetent person for missing the bus and it was all on me. We're told to go back and wait in line once more to get on the next bus which was leaving 4 hrs later. So I do that. To be fair to them, they gave us meal voucher tickets (of course this was after I purchased my meal and there's a bunch of signs saying no refunds for meals). Four hours later, I get on the next bus to Green Bay which involves 2 transfers. So I'm like ok, that was just a small issue, this can still turn out ok. WRONG. One of the buses had a broken A/C so we were literally soaking in our juices for a good 1-2hrs. They knew the bus wasn't working even before we got on it. They should've changed buses before we started out journey rather then waiting until we got to our next destination. By this point, I was really done with Greyhound, so the next day I asked for a refund on my return trip. The person that I spoke to was really disrespectful and spoke to me with attitude saying that because I hadn't bought the refundable tickets. I asked to speak to someone else and he referred me to two different automated phone lines. I had to talk to someone from a different service area to find out what I can do about my situation. Thankfully, the person I spoke to was slightly more helpful. The unfortunate thing though the way the company is set up in such a way that customers set themselves up to be disappointed. If you have to pay extra to buy refundable tickets, then something is clearly wrong here. Furthermore, this isn't an isolated incident. I spoke to my friend when I arrived in Green Bay and she had the same exact problem with baggage. They don't tell you what's going on and you're held liable if something goes wrong. They won't refund or they'll give you a voucher which guarantees that you'll have to deal with their incompetence again. I had to bring a friend here to help her leave. I can say the staff was great upon check in. However once we sat down in da Express Lounge it was nasty. I used two wipes to clean da counter down. Da first wipe was a light brown color on both sides. I used a second one to be safe. Nobody knows who or what sat there at first. There was a lot of security there so it was a safe environment. I created an Yelp account just to review my horrible experience with them. Very disorganized, HORRIBLE bus - never have seen such conditions to be acceptable to travel in.Customer service is out of this world bad. No one is helpful and they charge way too much if you miss your bus. I had to pay 60 bucks to go from Chicago in the middle of the night to a transfer in St Louis (where again I was treated like crap) and then off to my next destination. Take Megabus instead!..even if it means standing outside in disorganized lines in the heat.The only thing that Greyhound has over Megabus is that they have enclosed bus stations and even that is overcrowded and full of screaming kids as well as rude and lazy customer service workers who, from my experience, rank second only to Chicago USPS workers for their level of unhelpfulness. It has archaic practices - you have to check-in and weigh your suitcase like you're at an airport. #aintnobodygottimeforthat, You have to show photo ID and if you bought a ticket for someone else, they have to pay a surcharge before they can get on the bus. The routes generally take longer and have several more stops than Megabus. The frequent stops contributed to the Chicago Greyhound bus ended up arriving at the final destination an hour later than the scheduled time. read more

The staff was helpful in pointing out that I could have used the self ticket machine for online purchases rather than waiting in line. Also the woman helping me noticed my receipt didn't contain boarding information so she went in back to make sure she got the information for me. The cafe line and area was not very clean but again the staff were helpful even if sluggish. To their defense it was around 7 am and perhaps they didn't have a morning pick me up. I asked for a cup to replace my 7/11 drink since my lid had blown away and the accommodated me. However that's were anything pleasant about this station and travel method ends. The restroom was filthy. And reeked like an out door park restroom. I had to cover my nose and recall my Operations training from my youth in order to survive not touching anything. I was close to losing my breakfast. To their defense the cleaning crew were on their way in as I was leaving however I'm not sure it should have gotten that bad before they came in to clean. Any tickets purchased via someone else's card automatically adds $18 'gift fee' which effectively doubled my journey cost. I have used greyhound from Cincinnati to Cleveland many years prior and the only difference from then to now is wifi on the bus. This is my absolute last resort travel option and I will advise any to avoid it at all costs. read more

I use this station often but typically am on Baron buses as they are the line that services Indiana which is where my family lives. Unfortunately, anytime I need to use Greyhound there is some sort of major delay. While I understand delays will happen what i find most frustrating is the lack of communication. You are sitting there with no idea whether you will be leaving in 15 minutes cause the bus needs an oil change or if will be 2 hours cause the power steering has gone out. While delays can be frustrating at least one can plan and mentally prepared given the courtesy of being provided some sort of information. In addition to being inconvenienced as the customer - the person picking you up ( aka a potential customer) is being inconvenienced due to the lack of communication. read more

Buyer beware. Before you book any reservation with greyhound make sure you know that it is non changeable or nonrefundable. We booked a reservation for my 90-year-old mother to leave from Chicago and go up to Stanley Wisconsin for a wake. Upon further review we realized we could have booked the reservation closer to her home but still in Chicago. I called greyhound and asked to modify her reservation. They said it was only possible to modify the date or the time of the reservation but not the station for pick up even though the preferred stop was on the original route!!! I mean come on! It was still a few days in advance and this just seemed completely ridiculous. I then said I would forfeit that part of the trip and book a new reservation for my mother however there was an $18 gift service fee if I booked the reservation for her. Her reservation was only $48 so $18 on top of that was ridiculous. I found their customer service to be very impersonal and inflexible. This is a stupid company and it is no wonder there are so many bad reviews. I only hope her actual journey is not as ridiculous. read more

The bus from Indianapolis to Chicago was delayed by more than 5 hours and I was struck at Indianapolis Greyhound bus station and the worst part is - I had my family visit me and all the bookings in Chicago had to be canceled. The staff over there did not even make any other arrangements for us and we were stranded at the Indianapolis Bus Station for more than 5 hours with all our luggage and nothing to do. Not sure what they are looking for. They are checking every carry-on item you have. Is it really necessary? My 87 year old mother in law took Greyhound from akron, Ohio to Chicago the week before Christmas. Problem arose when she was to return after New Years. As you know, there was a major storm and everything was closed the day she was to go back. The night before, my husband called the station and asked if her round trip ticket could be changed to a day when the weather was predicted to be better. Sure, for $20, we could do that. But we had to drive all the way from South Elgin to Chicago. There was no way to do this online or over the phone. What is this the 1700's? On the morning, Mom was to return to Akron, all public transportation was cancelled. We learned this via TV. Same thing the next day. Finally, on the third day out, Bill called to see if Mom would be able to travel that day. He was told to bring her to Chicago. When they got there, they were told the bus was filled and she could not go that day. They did buy a ticket for the following day. She was to transfer in Cleveland. The next morning, Mom finally got on the bus. When they reached Cleveland, she was told the bus she had been promised was full. Possibly, she could get another one in two hours, but probably she would have to spend the night sitting in the cold station and leave the next morning. Luckily, she was able to find a supervisor who was able to get her on the bus to come in two hours. I should also say, the Chicago station is in poor condition. Perhaps, Greyhound is not technically responsible for the condition of the sidewalks. But they were extremely hazardous. Terrible Greyhound station. Bus to Chicago was late 8 hrs. New Passengers for another later bus to Chicago were allowed to board before the people who waited for several hours. Greyhound staff are poor communicators, giving one word answers and rarely explaining a situation. Greyhound screen display often vanishes a bus status that is late, often leaving customers wondering when, if ever the bus will arrive or the false impression that it already left. Same problem on the way back from Chicago, with the bus being late a few hours. Waited another 5 hrs because of poor customer service on the status of late buses. Station is dirty, one bathroom door didn't have a lock, and announcements sound terrible over the PA, partly poor English and also sound quality. read more

My Greyhound experience was the worst travel experience mainly because of the greyhound employees. I'd like to describe two (out of multiple) aspects of the trip that were terrible: 1. The customer service rep, who was an older man named George, at the check in counters was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After some baggage confusion with my bus driver, my bus was going to leave in about 5 minutes, and George chose to skip me in line after deliberately making eye contact with me. After the people behind me mentioned that I was before them, he looked over at me and did not greet me whatsoever as I walked to the counter (I might as well have been invisible). George was aware that my bus was leaving in under 5 minutes yet proceeded to speak and joke around with his coworkers. Then, George finished tagging my bag very slowly. On top of that, when I asked him questions to clarify whether my bag was good to go and about the trip, he flat out ignored me and did not speak one word. The point of a customer service rep is to provide a comfortable and informative experience and George was the worst rep I've ever interacted with. It's almost as if he thought he knew me and had something personal against me. 2. After getting on the bus, my bus driver yelled about people who were "late"- they got on the bus 2 minutes before the departure time, started driving as people were finding their seats, and proceeded to scream at a passenger for listening to his music too loudly. Here's the catch- he was wearing headphones. The whole bus from that point on was terrified to step on this crazy lady's toes. Incredibly unprofessional. She's the one who is there for her job not us- yet she held the bus passengers to a much higher standard than she held herself. I suggest management seriously revamps their employees at the Chicago Greyhound stop- because many customers can agree that that's the absolute worst part about Greyhound and why Greyhound is CONSISTENTLY the last choice for travel as opposed to Megabus or Amtrak. I am a 20 year old college student from Chicago , I frequently return home to Chicago from Champaign and every time I use the Greyhound I find myself stranded in one way or another. I booked a ticket for 1/15/2018 and I was supposed to arrive at 10:35pm. The bus broke down and we were delayed 6 hours. By the time I reached my destination no ubers ,lyfts , or city buses were in service and I had to walk in -2 degree weather for 30 minutes until I came across a safe bus service my University offers for late night walkers. The drivers often have attitudes and make you load your own bags (which is okay until 30+ careless people throw there luggage on the bus leaving no room for other bags and high probability for falling bags when the doors are opened. Greyhound picks and chooses when to check tickets so often times the buses reach capacity and you may be told to wait for the next bus which is never less than 3hrs away. Do not take greyhound if you will be boarding in shady neighborhoods , have an event to attend that takes place 8 hours after you assumed arrival at your destination (you will more than likely be late) , have small children , are traveling alone for you own safety. Better and safer alternatives would be Amtrak, Peoria Charter in my opinion and from my experience. read more

Bought tickets weeks in advance, not that that would matter here. We arrived on time to be told the bus was full. Despite the fact that it says on their sign that you are guaranteed a seat if you bought a ticket. Staff at the ticket desk had some friendly people but also some unprofessional behaviour, for example: openly mocking customers a few feet away from them. The pa system is so poor that you cannot get the info you need. Finally when we did get a replacement bus 5 hours later, we almost got our luggage taken by someone else. Even though there are tags to check the driver just started throwing bags on the ground without making sure the right people were grabbing the right bags. Some positives: the bus driver was very professional and clear with his announcements, and the luggage guys at the station were chill and helpful. read more

Greyhound in general is a disorganized and lousy bus line from every aspect. They clearly do not think ahead nor do they go the "extra mile" for the customers. You BETTER make sure you arrive early otherwise you will miss your bus, that is if you get stuck in a massive line for a good time period. This problem could EASILY be solved by hiring more workers. Another issue is purchasing tickets online. The front page NEVER works when trying to purchase tickets. There is a hidden webpage to Greyhound's old ticket page that they pulled however it still exists. If you do not have this link then you will have major issues purchasing tickets from their official website. I was supposed to take a bus from Indianapolis to Chicago and the experience was horrible. Not everyone would fit in the bus so a handful of people that PURCHASED THEIR TICKETS in advance were rejected and forced to take a different bus. Rather than the typical three hour ride, I had to take a different bus that took 7 long hours! That's just pathetic! There is ALWAYS some kind of problem with Greyhound yet they're too lazy to fix any of the flaws. There are better bus lines. If you want a good experience then stay away from Greyhound! read more

As tempting as the low fares are, I would urge you to refrain from purchasing greyhound bus tickets. The driver was an hour late, no one working at the station had any information regarding the delay and when it finally arrived, the driver got lost en route. A two hour bus ride turned to 3.5 hours. The driver didn't take responsibility for not paying attention to road signs and after people on the bus starting getting upset, she told us to "not stress her out otherwise you'll be off of the bus". And filled with hobos who "need money to get home." or "almost has enough for a sandwich" and "really needs money to buy drugs, and are filling you full of shit to get your money" Now I haven't been to this station or took Greyhound for several years now. Wow, do not book a ticket through Greyhound! I just chose a ticket using their website. The confirmation then read, that I had a ticket on a completely different day. I called customer service, thinking it was a mistake or glitch in the system. That was not at all the case. I was not able to change or cancel the ticket. They said the ticket option I chose was non-refundable. After speaking with a supervisor, I was given a number for the bus station because he said I could probably get it refunded there. As we were on the phone their business hours ended, as I am sure he knew, so I only reached a voice message for both the bus station and the number I had previously called. Now I have to wait until tomorrow morning to call, when my original ticket was supposed to be tomorrow morning. read more

Rode Greyhound from Cincinnati to Chicago to get home for Christmas. Had a layover in Chicago to board a train when I arrived. The bus departed Cincinnati 25 minutes late for no apparent reason, and no explanation. Upon arriving in Indianapolis, they made us switch buses because the heater wasn't working. We got onto a different bus, only to find out that its heater was also not working. Finally, we departed an hour and a half late from Indianapolis on a freezing cold bus and no one provided any apology or explanation. I was warned about riding Greyhound from friends, but I guess I had to see first hand just how terrible it is. I missed the train that night and had to pay for a transfer ticket, as well as a night's stay in Chicago. I also missed an irreplaceable Holiday dinner with my family. read more

So, buckle up, it's story time! My girlfriend and I were supposed to go back home to Indianapolis, we had our tickets and everything. Half of the line got to go and we were told that there was going to be a express bus for us and a line of other people by the bus driver. So we waited and waited, about 3 hours later we asked if there was really going to be a bus coming for us. Turns out the bus driver lied to us and there was only one bus left coming later in the evening, the people who had tickets for that bus would get on first and if there were any spots left it would be a free for all (of which there was no room what so ever). I freak out and tell everyone else that was told that there would be another bus coming for the people who had the tickets for that bus, all other seats were a free for all (this was before I found out that there was no room on the other bus). So my lady and I wait till my parents from Indy could come and get us, that is when I realized the small things, the plugs of which you can recharge your phone or computer didn't work, only one of the ticket machines worked, there was barely any room for anybody, and it was freezing. So please, if you need to ride the bus to get to a different state, find a better option then Greyhound. read more

Visited the greyhound clerk at Chicago's union station. The clerk wad unhelpful and extremely rude. When I asked for assistance in transferring my ticket she was reluctant to give me information and told me that it was "my problem" since I didn't ask enough questions. The problem was that when I asked questions she was reluctant to answer. I'm not sure what she was there for since she was extremely unhelpful. I ended up taking the amtrak instead. read more

You get harassed by greyhound version of TSA - Chicago terminal special. You get to stand in line for an hour waiting for a bus, just to make sure you get a seat. The WiFi and charging stations? I called, e-mailed and filled out the appropriate forms for the refund way in advance of my travel date, but no one responded to me or attempted to process my refund. Therefore, I lost my money.
