Some people really want to put the "oh" in Ohio, don't they? I needed last minute transportation to Ohio, something that wouldn't place me behind the wheel or cost me an arm and a leg. I hadn't taken the bus in half a decade, but I decided I can be brave. And in some lines you don't have to be. The buses themselves are a 'your mileage may vary' situation, pun intended. My ride in from Buffalo and to back home were cushy and clean. Granted I'm petite, but both trips I sat alone next to my unchecked knapsack (I'm not saying I have anything deadly but they trusted me to not) instead of stowing it in the vast under storage or the compact overhead compartment. There's something attached to the seat in front of me that presses down to rest your feet, a net like pouch, sturdy cupholders and an outlet down there too for all your travel ease. There are bags hanging for trash, vents and personal lights. And unlike my trek from Columbus, where I stood an extra half hour due to delay at a sign on the side of the road, only to sit on an overstuffed, unclean bus in a seat not assigned to me (mine was stolen and I got relocated across from a man with a branch sized stick that the driver allowed on board, fearing possible impalement), at least this one has a terminal. Even if it's in shambles. I noticed in both of my waits at the station a few things. First off, it's bustling. There are three sets of chairs, mostly filled by people spacing away strangers with luggage, people crouched on the ground and pacing on phone convos. There's a closed restaurant space that could be used for more seating but isn't. If you're hungry, there are expensive vending machines (if you have the time, leave the terminal for local eats) with drinks, ice cream, snacks and even fresher food you can microwave. When I first arrived, I beelined past this, both occasions, to use the loo. Wednesday I noticed the toilet ever flushing, chalked it up to a hiccup. When I returned Friday, about 48 hours later, I was the Goldilocks of toilets. One door couldn't lock, three were full of pee, one had poop stains, one was out of paper and one was still flushing. I opted for the handicap stall. Both times the soap was empty. The drinking fountain looked unclean and didn't work. Thankfully I didn't have to waste much time, taking in the ambiance of a screen playing some sort of attempt of entertainment (the bus actually has free wifi and some streamable content that I would have used had I brought headphones as the subtitles were a no go) and trying to stretch my legs before the long journey. There's a lot of shouting for gate numbers. They do their best to make sure everyone is well aware that they need to be in the right places, and I did notice a few repeat workers that honestly seem to give two hoots about being good at their job. Is Greyhound perfect? Not by a longshot. Are they going to get me to my adventure and back in one piece at the most affordable price, even at the cost of basic sanitation? Yes. read more

Not to be confused with Craysound Busty Laotians, which are girls from Laos who are very well endowed above the waist, and make extremely insane sounds when making out and such. The Greyhound Station in Cleveland has a lot of haunting memories for me and some great ones too, including recent times when I picked up my goddess here before driving her and our cats to Texas. This is a sacred bus station to me with a lot of memories. So lots of great memories (guess I didn't say the word memories yet) and some lonely sad memories from long time ago, from a different lifetime. Did I mention the memories. I do not recommend greyhound. It was my first time traveling via bus. I'm from Ohio and I was supposed to have a concert in Texas on a Friday. I scheduled 2 round trip bus tickets to and from Texas, and it ended up costing me over a grand. (one thing I would like to note is that their refund policy consists of a voucher that is only valid for 1 year. you do not get your actual money back). The trip I picked said the first bus was supposed to leave around 9am on a Wednesday. Assuming everything went according to plan and there were no delays, we would arrive in Texas around 10pm Thursday. It isn't until after I have purchased my tickets that greyhound lets me know that my first selected bus was delayed 5 hours. Now, while not awful, it does not show the new times for the other buses we will have to take later on. Only the first one, which takes us to Chicago. So we get to Chicago, and it isn't until we've arrived that greyhound finally lets me know that the next bus, which is to memphis, doesn't leave until 10pm Thursday night. We arrived in Chicago around 11:30pm. So it isn't until we've already paid and traveled quite some time, that greyhound lets us know that the original trip I booked has basically been pushed back over 24 hours, not including how much farther back the other two buses after Memphis could have been. So not only did I waste a grand, but I also didn't get to go to my concert and those tickets got wasted, and I had to spend extra money to get bus tickets to go straight back the way we came. All because greyhound does not update their website completely when buses are delayed. You will not know if any buses have been delayed until after purchase, and if multiple buses, you will not be notified of new times or delays until you arrive at the next destination. If you're traveling but do not need any rush, greyhound would be just fine, but if you have plans and need to be somewhere by a certain time, I would not recommend greyhound, unless you plan to leave a week before. This will be the second time that I've ever taken Greyhound anywhere as I don't really ride the bus long distances unless it's basically the only option! The first time I took a ride with them I was stranded in the middle of Texas and the bus basically saved me from being in a even worse situation as it was the only way out of that horrible place! This time it's my only option as I can't get a rental to where I need to go as I'll have no way to return it so might as well take the bus to avoid this problem all together as it wasn't that bad the first time! When I walked to the ticket counter the lady working was super mellow and just started talking to me randomly about things seeing I had a bit to wait for my bus I was ok with it and besides it's always nice to talk to those who are cool to you just for the hell of it. The bus station wasn't as bad as others seem to make it so I can't really say much about that I mean it's a bus station what do you expect the red carpet? Staff is rude and was complaining that customers are always complaining. Well, my bus left early, and I received no email. They told me I was wrong and that I did receive one. I've checked, and no, I haven't. If you want a service that they get mad at you when they are the ones that messed up, then choose Greyhound. Normally, I just dislike a company, but the staff are bad as well. Never using Greyhound again. Teach your staff to be helpful. When I asked for help, they told me to call customer service and to mind my buisiness. (which this was!)When I still was confused, they ignored me. At least tell your staff not to yell at customers who aren't yelling. I feel like they took their anger at the guy in front of me out on me. I was way too excited to have the Cleveland Greyhound terminal as a stop on my trip. You see, its listed on the National Register of Historic Places and whenever I come across one of those, my inner history nerd comes out in full force. It was built in 1948 in the recognizable Streamline architectural style that I find fascinating. Unfortunately, this place has fallen into the trap where because it is considered historic, people see it as old, which then translates to 'We don't have to take care of it anymore because it isn't shiny and new.' Shame. The architecture WAS beautiful but it was overshadowed by the fact that it was in serious disrepair. Tiles on the floors were loose, paint was peeling, and over half of the stalls in the restroom were marked 'Out of Order.' It was sad looking around and imagining what it had been like in its former glory (I realize I probably shouldn't have looked at all those historic pictures) because it just wasn't half of what it used to be. read more

Conveniently located across the street from Cleveland State University, I decided to try out a hidden gem of on campus dining - Greyhound Station's restaurant. Open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights, not only for the travelers from all over the United States of Americah, but for the Cleveland State fraternity partiers and Playhouse Square red coat volunteers after a long shift of community theatre, the Greyhound Station seems like the best choice for late night dining. The Greyhound Station has adopted a "GO GREEN" mentality! While I rotated around in my upcycled Wendy's dining chair that was attached to the table, I felt serene in the dimly lit 1950's Greyhound cave. The lightbulbs that had burnt out overhead, perhaps years ago, really set the mood and dulled the senses. Perhaps after riding in a Greyhound for 8 hours, customers are sure to get some type of light sensitive headache, and with the dimly lit ~eco-friendly~ bus station, the Greyhound company really thought ahead. Perhaps it made everything look a little less dirty too, so not changing burnt out light bulbs is definately a win-win! I noticed that all of the employees were wearing reflective vests - usually seen on airport runways worn by the ramp service - but instead on Greyhound, even the concession stand (restaurant) attendant was wearing one! I loved the theme going on here! Reminiscent of 1950s decor intervened with hospital cafeteria smells and gas station chic, the restaurant dining area left me with a sense of uneasiness. Setting aside the ambiance of a Greyhound Station, I decided to select the nachos as my snack of the day. My meal was created (as in plastic wrapper peeled back and nacho cheese discharged from machinery) by a wonderful chef in cautionary fluorescent yellow attire. As I was waiting for my entree, I couldn't help but look above to admire the ceiling of this historical landmark. To my surprise, I noticed the plastic owl standing watch on top of the restaurant awning. I was unsure whether this was intentional decor or a statue to scare the rodents of the Greyhound away. Certainly it did not scare the customers away. After I received my nacho chip cheese receptacle, I brought it over to my seat. I was disappointed by the small portion; maybe Greyhound is trying to assist in their patrons' weight loss diets by downsizing their portions, but the 15 chips with nacho "cheese" did not fill me up. This was probably for the better, since immediately after the consumption I felt an immediate pang of regret, along with this feeling similar to butterflies in your stomach, yet instead these were moths trying to make me vomit. As for transportation, after my experiences with Greyhound filled with delays, buses breaking down, and traffic, I'm not sure if this deserves to be called a "rest haven" or a "rest Hades". read more

We stood there in line for 2 hours, and no one had the common decency to inform us that the bus needed repairs. The terminal was disgusting, it smelled like heavy disinfectant and urine. This place is TERRIBLE. I bought a round trip from Buffalo to Cleveland and back. Getting to Cleveland was a breeze. Bus on time and I get here early. But trying to get back to Buffalo. The employees are rude and disrespectful plus EXTRA slow as if they aren't even trained. I've been in the station for 4 hours waiting on bus driver and a bus to get to the station. Well, as of 2:10am the Cleveland to Chicago bus is almost 2.5 hours delayed, and no one seems to care or know what's going on. No one is bothering giving us updates, and none of the staff can answer our questions. The staff really, openly doesn't care. And after a five hour delay in St Louis last weekend, I'm really batting 1000 with Greyhound. But at least they were apologetic there, gave us updates, even a $7.50 food credit. None of that in Cleveland. EDIT: 2 hours later and we are still here. In fact a 3:55am bus to Toledo, Gary, then CHICAGO just boarded while we are still waiting for the 11:45pm that is now 4 hours late. No information from staff. No updates. I felt so compelled by some mysterious force to write a review on greyhound, which means that right off the bat they must be doing something wrong. Worst bus I've ever taken. This is my second time riding and I've learned one thing: never expect your bus to be on time. Arriving at least an hour late is per usual for greyhound buses. Cramped, unkept buses and screaming kids are to be expected on every ride so Make sure you bring headphones and something for neck and back support. Minus a small hiccup at the beginning of my trip (bus was an hour late but still made my next bus) it went really smooth!

There are no lockers in the station but Greyhound has a sign where they will store your baggage for $5.00, quite a deal after Chicago. There is a café and an elevated display w/ two flat screens for the waiting passengers; the seats in the waiting room are of the wire frame type so they are not too comfortable. As for the bathroom, well there is no hot water and they are passable in terms of cleaniness. SECURITY presence is everywhere, I witnessed security remove a passenger because he said some unkind things to a Greyhound employee. One more thing, there is a charging station for your electrical items. read more

Greyhound has been a means of transportation for Americans for decades. When taking short trips it is reliable and cheap. Depending on your driver will depend on the experience that you get. I can only say once that a driver was rude with me but I instantly checked that driver in a polite manner and never had any issues. Now the worst complaint is how dirty the terminals can be and lets not even talk about the bathrooms (hold it if you can). I guess you can eat at the grills that they have but i would keep it to chips and a drink I mean its no restaurant my friend lol. I have never had any thefts or lost baggage nor anyone trying to harm me. You will run into homeless people at every terminal and they may ask for change. My best advise to taking greyhound is keep the trip short and mind your business and all will be cool. read more

The only reason I give the bus station in Cleveland two stars instead of one is because of Kevin the Security Guard. I arrived at the station around 3:15am, because I missed the Megabus I was scheduled on by 9 minutes in New York. If you want to hear a long, gory tirade with shocking details, I can pm you. For the purposes of this review, however, I'll just touch on a few facts. One fact is that the customer service skills are severely lacking at the Chester Avenue location. Martin Luther King Jr. once said something to the effect of this: "The greatest sin a man can commit against his fellow man is not to hate him, but to be indifferent to him--that is the essence of inhumanity." The quote is not verbatim, but you get the idea. The feeling one is left with after encountering staff at the Greyhound Bus Lines terminal is that of being treated with indifference. *Save for Kevin the Security Guard, whose attention to my questions and assistance in helping me get on the right bus at the right time were a G-dsend. Thank you Kevin. Another fact is that the station in Cleveland, while historic, also could benefit from a better air ventilation system/exhaust fan near the restaurant area because of the fried food smell pervading the air. In addition, the station would be more welcoming to passengers if it had more comfortable seats. Without a blanket underneath your rear here, you will not be likely to tolerate sitting for more than a few minutes. At least I was not able to. I ran into a few friendly characters outside the building, and chatted about Kyrie, LeBron and Kevin Love for a bit with one of them. We agree next year is gonna be the big one. read more

I was scheduled to leave at 10:30pm to NYC on the express service. Express service my behind! It's currently 1:30am and we finally left. This station's attempt at some structure was an epic fail. They try to put us in "boarding groups" to only have everyone crowded together anyways bum rushing the doors. One of the staff members told us we'd be having a new bus and driver but gave no specific time which drives me insane. This is the second incident this weekend where greyhound or NY trailways, whatever they want to go by, has made my trip miserable. The short version is this: Don't take a Greyhound bus if avoidable at any cost. Our Luggage was lost, the employee's incapacity is exceptional and delays can be taken for granted. The long version is this: Upon arrival at the Cleveland Greyhound station, we learned that our bus was two hours late - nothing unusual for this company but still annoying as we had arrived early in the morning to catch the bus and no reason was given for the delay. But things went down in a mind-boggling way when our bus actually arrived. Not only was I to be seated next to an extremly obese person that practically covered two seats (why do you not have to pay for two seats then?) but my friend whom I was travelling with was told to get of the bus (altough he had already been seated) because the bus was supposedly overbooked. When I complained about this outside how it is outrageous that we can't take the bus one employee insisted harshly that it was only one person who can't take it, not the two of us. Well, thanks very much. At least they ordered and paid for an Uber to get us to Pittsburgh where we would "catch the bus easily". Our luggage was supposedly already in the bus we couldn't take. We catched the bus in Pittsburgh by a few seconds, however our luggage did not. Upon arrival at our final destination we learned it was never put on the bus. To this day we have not received it. The rudeness and incompetence of the employees we complained to at various occasions on the following day was ungraspable. Now our luggage has allegedly been located, but Greyhound only ships it within the US, while we are back at home in Germany. Worst service ever, the bus, the staff everything is bullshit. Every bus that I ever taken by greyhound was delayed or f*cked up.

I had a delicious egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwich at the Cleveland terminal in 2000.

Be prepared to wait in a relatively short line for a very long time only to have be spoken to rudely and disrespectfully. They were unable to answer basic questions about fares and services. Such as "what do you get for the $15 unaccompanied Minor charge?"and "why are you charging me 3x the current online price?" I told them that I spoke to the online customer service and got different information and they went on to argue with me that you can't talk to a computer so I clearly was not on line customer service. When I got home and spoke to customer service they told me I was overcharged by $20. It was a frustrating and annoying experience and I'll probably just drive to Pittsburgh next time. read more

I was buying a ticket for my friend on their website, with his credit card. When I purchased the ticket, there was my name and surname on the ticket, not my friend. Maybe it was browsers auto-fill function which caused it. YES they have no fault in this case but the story starts now. I called them immediately when I saw the mistake, they refused to change the name, I suggested them to refund me and I would buy the ticket again with the correct name, they refused it too. One more big problem it that their website has one-click purchase, no review of information or something. I exactly remember how I wrote my friend name, but on the ticket there was mine. 0 customer support. I took the heat of 80$. read more

Very disorganized bus station. The announcements are not clear, they change scheduled buses at the last minute. No monitors showing the schedule. I don't think I will use greyhound in Cleveland again. Buses are dirty. Next time I will fly or I will stay home. You pay for bathroom and wireless. The bathroom in the bus is disgusting, the wireless doesn't work. The express service is not express. read more
