Detroit greyhound bus station has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They have a rep working there by the name of Carlisa that is disrespectful and should not be working in a public place where there is interaction with customers. I have never been to a place that I pay for service and experienced such poor customer service. The way she speaks to customer is down right nasty and I can't believe they would have someone employed like that. It's so sad because the other employee said she is always like that and nothing has been done about it. I have called their hotline to make a complaint and I will be filing an official BBB complaint until this is looked into. I missed my bus not once but twice because of her having an attitude and being unpleasant. My whole experience has changed what I think about Greyhound transportation and I will no longer ride with them! read more

Lady at the counter was very rude and kept on doing her work rather than assisting travellers. No one was there on the baggage claim counter either to ask help with baggage. I witnessed the most awful, disrespectful black woman in baggage area this morning. She lashed out at nearly every customer she handled. I finally told her to stop disrespecting my 90 year old mother, who was traveling with large bags that the baggage person was did not want to handle. She did not seen to understand customer service. Mr Corn the baggage handler tried to offset this woman's behavior but she continued to be mean and vile and slowing up people getting on the bus. My mother missed her bus as a result. Absolutely dangerous, they do not care about the safety of their customers. Yesterday, 6/8/2021 my grand daughter and niece both 21 boarded the bus to come home to P.A. an announcement was made that the bus trip was cancelled and all customers must leave the terminal. They locked the doors, at night and would not allow anyone in. No explanation as to why it was cancelled, no money refunded and everyone stranded. Now these two young girls in Detroit with signs on the doors about huge problem with human trafficking were left outside in the dark. My sister was able to pick them up after a 2 hour drive, only god knows what could have happened to them. An email was sent to the president and yet no return email. They will not answer their phones. We contacted the bus terminal in Flint who looked it up and said yes they did cancel the trip and locked everyone outside with no reason. I am disgusted with the lack of care and safety for their paying customers, for human beings treated like shit and left out to fend for themselves in an area they know nothing about. Too weak to respond back about the situation. Lawyers will be notified. Parents DONT EVER EVER TRUST THEM TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF YOUR LOVED ONE. read more

here's a backstoty: i am 13 a minor and i went toronto to windsor. this is my experience toronto to windsor: my ride from toronto to windsor was good but the seats were hella uncomfortable. the bus wasn't full and the bus driver kept an eye on me which was good. windsor to toronto: where do i start this was horrible. first of all the bus was 40 mins late and the bus driver (who is not the same one as before) didn't care that i was a minor, he didn't care about me or anyone who was bugging me on the way. when i got on the bus it was full like completely full i had nowhere to sit so i asked an old lady to move over. the seats were still uncomfortable and the wifi and the plug didn't work. there was 2 people without a seat. it was unbelievable i want a refund, i felt unsafe and uncomfortable about the people that bugged me. read more

Received better Customer Service from the Greyhound customers. Do you even interview your "Guest Service" at the Information Counter? Perhaps I was being punked? I was very irritated when my brother was waiting in line for his bus to arrive. I noticed it was 20 mins passed it's scheduled time I wanted to make sure he was in the right line or see if the bus was running late? So I took a clear picture on I'm IPhonex of the ticket. The lady said, "next!!" like I was on parole about to get my mug shot taken in an 80s prison.. I showed her my brothers ticket which was clear as day and cropped perfectly as I had time to do in the slowly unorganized line. She responded, " I ain't able to see your cell phone! Boy go get your brothers ticket. Next! That to me was very offensive! Then again everyone has bad days better me than someone with a equally distorted attitude that would have gotten very ugly very quickly. Though her actions made me sick to my stomach. So I am at it again, I had to take Greyhound for my return trip to Chicago and oh boy the way you are treated is the norm with Greyhound I guess. The last time I posted a tip but this time a review is needed. So I have an "express" ticket. This tickets are supposed to be called by group boarding numbers. Of course this didn't happen. People reboarding from Canada were lined up at door #1 along with people that were just boarding. (After the security guard says everyone line up at doors #1- #4 in no certain order) Lisa Krosky the driver (somewhat polite with a bit of harshness) starts taking tickets of course people didn't follow directions and have their bags tagged so she had to redirect them to do so. They were allowed to jump back to the front of the line when the returned which I feel like they should've went to the end since they couldn't follow instructions. When I got on the bus there was only about 9 seats left and there were still a nice handful of people boarding. Ms. Lisa was holding some seats for handicapped and elderly but once the bus was at capacity a family was going to have to sit there. Ms. Lisa told the family "oh you can't sit up here with those babies. I don't allow babies that close to me". Now I am somewhat on the fence about this, I do understand the babies can be a distraction, but I also feel like oh it sucks to be you, it's a part of the job. She asked for people to trade seats so the family could sit elsewhere. Now the bus is completely full and some patrons were turned away. I don't understand why Greyhound always overbooks. It is definitely an inconvenience on the customer. The patrons were told "that's why we say come an hour early" wth?! For what? The buses never leave on time, we left 15 minutes later than scheduled. I don't know how this company still operates the way they do. I definitely know this is my last time I will book megabus or pay the extra and take Amtrak. read more

Worst bus experience EVER. it was so bad. It was dirty, they had no system, people on the bus were making fun of us and people were smoking on it. You get a seat number and when we got on the bus people were in our seat so we had to go to the only available seats which were in the back. Every time we got to a rest stop we had to get down even if we didn't have to use the bathroom. We were on the bus for an extra 2 hours. The bus was very old and if I could give it no stars you best believe I'd have done that. When we got to our destination i got sick. I'd never recommend this bus to anyone. read more

Some how I missed my bus and had to wait 6 hours for the next one. I was not afraid waiting in this bus station nor was I uncomfortable. I was annoyed more with myself for missing my bus than with the bus station. Everything was clean including the men's bathroom. I will never travel with Greyhound again, and will strongly encourage all of my friends, family, and colleagues to do the same. Your transportation services and customer service are simply sub-par. After spending more than an hour on the phone with your team, and despite my complaints detailed below, the customer service agents informed me that Greyhound does not issue refunds for anything other than the documented delays in your systems. They offered a $15 refund and a $10 dollar travel voucher for "4 hours of delay as documented by our system." Clearly, your systems are either woefully broken, or people are lying. First, my round trip was from Detroit to Newark and back - each way involved a 13+ hour overnight trip. Rather than schedule a newer (or even completely functional) bus for either of the long overnight trips, we instead received buses that were, according to the driver (who was the same for both trips), over 35 years old. These busses had broken outlets, broken seats that either wouldn't recline or wouldn't stay upright, and on the return bus to Detroit, light/air panels hanging from wires above the seats. Second, on my outbound trip, the air conditioning was broken/stuck on for the entire trip - The stuck-on AC got the interior of the bus down to almost 40 degrees. As a result the driver held our bus for almost 2 hours (1:15 over our scheduled time) at a rest stop in PA while he called into your service line to request a new bus. Rather than wait another 8 hours for a bus to arrive, the driver purchased extra clothing from the gas station to keep warm. Upon trying to re-enter the bus, the automatic door forced closed on me, on an arm that just had surgery several weeks prior. It took myself and 2 other passengers to hold the door open so I could free myself from it. The driver's response: "Oh, it's not supposed to do that." No offer to document the problem, no offer of assistance, and definitely no check to see if I was OK. Third, on my return trip from Newark to Detroit, the bus RAN OUT OF GAS on the Ohio Turnpike. Rather than actually inform us of the problem, the driver acted as if something mysterious was afoot. After we were safely towed into the parking lot of the toll booth, he refused to let passengers off the bus (including 2 small children and a pregnant woman) which was becoming increasingly hot and stuffy, making it difficult to breathe. After berating the driver into letting us off the bus (and after I hit my asthma inhaler), he claimed that the tow-truck driver might be able to bring something back to "work a miracle and get us on the road." The "miracle" was putting gas in the tank. The whole time, the driver was unable to give any relevant update about delays for folks who needed to make a connection or who had rides coming to pick them up at the Cleveland station. We were delayed about 2 hours with this particular fiasco (my earlier recollection to the customer service agent was incorrect - my apologies). Upon arrival to the Cleveland station around 4:20am, we were then informed that the bus had "to be pulled" due to a broken wheel or flat tire. This actually explained quite a bit about our ridiculously uncomfortable ride, in which I was bounced out of my seat several times (I weigh 260lbs) and many of us gasped in worry as the bus hit bumps and skidded into the safety strip several times. Thus, not only was there no refueling done at the Newark station, there was apparently NO SAFETY CHECK either, and we were sent onto the road with a hazardous bus, with CHILDREN and PREGNANT WOMEN. This delay kept up at the Cleveland station until about 7:10a. Since I arrived more than 3 hours past my scheduled time, WITH NO UPDATES, I could not schedule a pick up from the Detroit station and had to pay additional money for an Uber driver. So, to summarize: Total delay for both trips: 6 hours (according to Greyhound's systems it was 4). AC stuck on for the entirety of an overnight trip to Newark, bringing the cabin down into the 40s. Automatic door forced closed on me, and in particular, on an arm recently repaired via surgery. On the return trip, bus does not get refueling or a safety check at Newark before getting on the road. I am bounced out of my chair and the bus skids into the safety strip several times, to passengers' horror. Bus runs out of gas on the Ohio Turnpike with no info (lies) from the driver. We arrived at the Cleveland station to find out that we've been dangerously travelling on a broken wheel. We are delayed at the Cleveland station with absolutely no updates on time, preventing us from making arrangements (requiring me to get a taxi). 1 hour spent on the phone with Greyhound customer service. Greyhound customer service offers $15 refund and $10 travel voucher. This is unacceptable, Greyhound. That trip was not only unprofessional and uncomfortable, but painful, and dangerous. Then, to top it all off, your customer service is insulting. I want a full refund. read more

I was at the bus station and checked my bags with plenty of time to spare. The bus that i was supposed to leave on at 6:45pm arrived around 7:15, filled up and departed with many of us left standing there without an answer or help as to what we were supposed to do. The employees had no answer to offer other than "There should be another bus coming but we do not know when it will be here." This is not an acceptable answer when the initial bus was already an hour late for departure and there were no signs showing the next available bus. I ended up buying a megabus ticket for a bus that was leaving that night and had the smoothest trip i could have imagined. I will NEVER TAKE THE GREYHOUND AGAIN. read more

This score is mostly based on SHOCK! Had an hour layover and were dreading it. BUT OMG this was one of the CLEANEST places we have been in, absolutely the opposite of what we expected. No bums, no religious types bugging you, actually you are in a secluded area with just passengers. The middle picture is correct it is THAT CLEAN. The bathroom was clean, we changed clothes in there without any fears. Now I have some other things to say about the bus line itself BUT well done Detroit. read more

Stay away by all means. Take the train, take the megabus, fly, bike, walk, swim. But don't take the Greyhound. I took the Greyhound yesterday, from Ann Arbor to Chicago, it was almost comical. Bus was two hours late, the driver got lost 4 times. He did not have a GPS but a stack of papers trying to read directions while he was driving. The station in Ann Arbor had moved and nobody knew where to. It was impossible to obtain any information as to when the bus would arrive. The inside of the bus was nasty and it stank. The whole thing was an absolute total shitshow, just stay away. read more

This company is run by crooks. Im dealing with a cancelled flight due to weather and book a train at 6am. When my second flight was cancelled I went to transfer to a later bus at same station on the same day... 2 hours later. Im told that I am expected to pay a $20 service fee per ticket, (when the tickets themselves cost $18). The lack of customer service and understanding from your company has now made me DEVOTED to letting everyone know that your company is a joke. So far my experiences here have been great. There's free Wi-Fi and it's a relatively clean for a Greyhound. There's a Burger King down the street if you have a layover and need something quick to eat and don't want to settle for vending machine snacks. A lot of people from all over the country come through this terminal and it's a great place to meet fellow travelers, just be discerning, considering this is Detroit. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I absolutely would, this wasn't just the worst traveling experience of my life but the worst company I have ever dealt with. I was traveling to chicago to celebrate my bachelorette party weekend with 6 of my friends and family 2 of which who were pregnant, we arrive a half hour before our bus was supposed to leave and find out the 1:30AM bus driver never showed up for his shift so those people were stranded at the bus station all night and the employees wouldn't even let them in the building in the middle of Detroit... Those people got priority onto our bus which rightfully so since their driver chose not to show up but instead of having another bus ready the 7:50 bus my party and I were supposed to get on were now stranded as well with no knowledge of any information on when another bus would be arriving. If anyone tried to talk to the employees to find out what was going on they got yelled at legit yelled at one employee even yelled at another customer "ARE YOU COMPLAINING RIGHT NOW". After four hours of waiting and no one updating us on how long or what was going on a bus finally comes and we all board the bus only to sit there on the bus where the AC wasn't working when it was a 90 degree day after 20 minutes we were told to grab all our things and get off the bus. Now we're all standing outside the the station in the blazing heat not knowing when the next bus is coming again... A half hour later another bus comes and we board it again and its filthy legit filthy and stinks like a porta-potty so strong that we were all nauseous and sick the whole ride. That was our experience at the Detroit bus station coming back home we were delayed another 5 hours and our experience was 10 times worse at the chicago station if you can believe it... I've called the company 4 times now each time i've spent an hour on the phone with them promising me a refund that after 2 1/2 weeks I have yet to see come into my bank account, its clear as day this company does not respect customers time and does not care about customers period I wanted to write this so hopefully no one else will have to go through this god awful experience as I will not get the 14 hours of my life back that Greyhound has wasted! read more

This was a horrible experience. I traveled from this Detroit station to Chicago and I was greeted by the stench of a warm porta potty on the bus immediately as I got on and for the duration of the 7 hour trip I had to breath through my pillow. The windows did not look like they were cleaned AT ALL, mine had streaks of grease all over it in a pattern that looked like a dog slobbered all over it and a huge grease spot with hairs sticking to it. The bus was also supposed to be Express yet it made an unnecessary stop at a gas station that WASN'T ON THE ITINERARY and it didn't even get gas there!!!!!! We were already behind schedule at this point because at one pick up point the driver announced that there were 51 passengers and only 50 seats and we would be staying there however long it took to find the one person who wasn't supposed to be on the bus....what. We arrived more than an hour late. I will not be using Greyhound again thanks to this experience. read more

Missed my fucking bus!! Had to wait 4 hours for the next one!! Then was treated like like shit for being angry that THEY were treating me like shit. On Friday,January 27, 2017 I traveled from Detroit, Michigan to Cleveland, Ohio on the 7:AM bus. This was my first and last experience using Greyhound! I arrived at the Greyhound station at 6:15 AM with my printed ticket in hand. I stood in line at the baggage desk and there was a young woman behind me who had a 6:40 AM bus to Alabama, a 22 hour trip! I told her she could go ahead of me so that she would not miss her bus. I offered to assist her by taking her hand luggage to her bus and waiting in line for her. When I did this a Greyhound employee , a young woman, began to yell at me for not having a ticket for that bus. When I explained the circumstances to her and pointed to the young woman running toward us she made me leave the line. She then told the passenger that she could not board the bus because she was not in line 5 minutes ahead of departure. At this point passengers were still boarding on the bus and luggage was being loaded on the bus. Despite my pleading for this poor young woman the Greyhound employee adamantly refused to let her board insisting that she change her ticket for the next bus at 3pm! There was then an announcement that the bus to Cleveland was starting to board. I stood on line. There were 6 passengers ahead of me. I asked this same employee if I had time to use the bathroom. She said "no!". When I reached the front of the line I checked in my luggage and gave the bus driver my ticket. I asked him if I had time to use the bathroom. He said" Sure, go right ahead". When I returned 2 minutes later from the bathroom the same employee refused to let me board the bus! She said it was because I went to the bathroom after she, the "Team Leader" had told me not to. I told her that the bus driver gave me permission and she said,"Why did you ask him after I said no. I am in charge here." I told her I did not know the hierarchy of who was in charge and apologized for this. When I tried to get on the bus she grabbed me and called security and threatened to call the police and have me arrested. At this point she allowed 3 other passengers to board the bus to Cleveland. When I complained she said I had to wait for the bus driver to escort me to the bus. I asked her if she would call him to escort me because I was afraid the bus would leave without me and she refused. After another few minutes she said, "OK, I'll let you board because you're old and are trembling. But just know that I could have you arrested for not following my orders!". I think this "team leader'' was unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, threatening, and harassing and obviously enjoyed flaunting her power over the passengers. Greyhound should fire her immediately! Absolutely terrible company and awful service. Bus was supposed to leave at 5:30am and by the time 7am rolled around, I gave up since I wouldn't have been able to make my transfer in Chicago. I contacted customer support and they informed me that the bus was 4 HOURS LATE, even though their app said it was sitting at the station. They sent me a $20 voucher only to find out that it could only be used at the station, where ticket prices are significantly more expensive than online. Avoid Greyhound at all costs. read more

I will not schedule any important travel plans with Greyhound again! If I have plans to visit someone and it's not an emergency, sure I'll take the bus. I've taken it before and was pleased and decided to take it again. However, this time I wasn't so lucky. I bought tickets from Detroit to Toronto. It was early February during snow season and I checked every 5 mins for any postings online regarding cancellations and called and called the Greyhound bus station in Detroit but never could get a hold of anyone. so I figured that the bus was on schedule and hired taxi service to drop me off. I arrived at the bus station only to find out a note on the door--"All departures are cancelled for the day due to snow, etc." Why did I have to spend $90 on taxi to find this out! I had a flight leaving that day from Toronto and going to Europe. They are irresponsible and uninformative. With last minute changes I had to use my car to get to Toronto in the unpredictable weather and I spent close to an additional $500 (taxi, parking@ the airport, gas, etc). Luckily it worked out, but it put a lot of stress on me for the whole day. If they would've informed me I would've had plan C (maybe take the train from Windsor to Toronto) but it was so last-minute that I was pressed for time and spent extra $$$. If I would've known that Greyhound was going to be THAT irresponsible I would've never bought tickets from them. There's no reason in this technological era to not inform your customers of cancellations. This is America not Antarctica! read more

i rate this an 0 star. i travelled by the bus. the bus condition was not so good and it wasnt very clean and new. i did not like the service and the journey at all. they do not have direct buses to any location. we have to go via differnt locations and lot of waiting time on various locations. this time when i travelld the bus was 2hrs late. still unfortunately i had to travel with this bus again and this 2nd trip was most irritating and annoying. i was waiting on the station for 2 hrs aftr 2.5 hrs it was told the bus driver did not come so the bus has been cancelled and i was placed in another bus to travel. and that bus took me to a different place which was very far from my destination. i had sufferd a lot in this journey. and i was totally frustrated, irritated, and annoyed. read more
