The gentlemen we had were friendly and took care of all of our luggage. The company has great communication. We were scheduled to be picked up at 4:45am but at around 9pm the night before I started getting nervous that we should leave a few minutes earlier, so I sent them an email asking if we could leave at 4:30am instead, really not expecting anyone to respond in time. They actually emailed me back within 10 minutes and confirmed the earlier pick-up time. Then, our return flight landed at PDX (an unheard of!) 40 minutes early. As soon as we touched down I texted the number to see if there would be any way someone could come pick us up for 40 minutes earlier than planned, again not necessarily expecting a response - especially since it was close to midnight. However, they texted me back instantly that my driver would be in touch with me soon, and sure enough our driver texted me within a few minutes. By the time we grabbed our suitcases off of the conveyor and walked a few minutes to the curb, our driver was already there and waiting despite us being 40 minutes early - and, again, it was close to midnight on a Wednesday. We are customers for life!

Everything we own packed was into seven suitcases, and so we needed help to get from the airport to our hotel in Salem. The choice was an Uber, which would not have worked for our situation, or a luxury car service. Hewar was wonderful from when I first called him to arrange our trip. He was attentive and patient, even when I called him multiple times with questions. The manager, Rasheem, met us at baggage claim. Our driver, Zhieco, was professional and friendly. He helped us get our (very heavy) luggage into the hotel. On the other hand, the company I called first did not give me a chance to explain why we needed help at baggage claim. As soon as he heard that, he immediately said he couldn't help me. He threatened to post my phone number online when I wrote him a one-star review. I was shocked. I would've taken it down, regardless, because I don't post bad reviews. So, I was especially glad to talk with Hewar on my second phone call. I highly recommend Elite. If I ever need a service like this again, I will for sure call Hewar.

He was so accommodating and rescheduled multiple reservations to keep us in air conditioning throughout all our stops. He's a wealth of knowledge--from history, to geology, to architecture. Be sure to ask him tons of questions, he's an absolute hoot. And, of course, the bus! So adorable and well-maintained. He has a lot of passion for his vehicle, and you can tell. We did their Holiday Lights Tour on Refurbished Heated Trolley (offered by Portland Perks)…read more I would have been a little irritated that the trolley was late, but so was one of the people in our group - which meant him not missing the bus. First, the driver takes you through downtown to see the Pioneer Courthouse Square tree, then by Directors park and onto I-5 to get headed to the PIR. Choosing the 6 pm trolley meant getting stuck in rush hour traffic. Luckily, we didn't have to cross the bridge and made it in time at PIR to slowly take in all the lovely Christmas lights. In the beginning, we couldn't figure out some of the light structures, until a couple seated in front of us got it and started singing "The 12 days of Christmas". Then the a Partridge in a Pear Tree, Two Turtle Doves, Three French Hens, 4 Calling Birds, 5 Gold Rings, 6 Geese a-Laying, 7 Swans a-Swimming, 8 Maids a-Milking, 9 Ladies Dancing, 10 Lords a-Leaping, 11 Pipers Piping & 12 Drummers Drumming all made sense! There was one odd part. It was the numerous palm trees at the beginning and dinosaurs at the end that didn't feel very Christmasy. But - that has nothing to do with the Trolley company. Our driver gave highlights, but the back of the trolley was noisy, so we couldn't hear him very well. It was adorable when he gave one of the kids a bucket of candy canes to pass out to everyone. The whole tour only lasted 90 minutes, so we were glad to have gotten a discounted ticket for $30. The one thing we forgot to do was bring cash to tip our driver and we felt awful about it. He was nice and informative and deserving. We are a group of credit card people, always trying to earn air miles, but if we had the extra cash, we would have given it to him. This was definitely something festive that I am really glad we did and glad my friends came along for the ride!

Picture yourself walking among the thin mists of a rainforest at treetop level or...swaying rhythmically atop a gentle horse as you explore the flanks of a volcano...or having a small, delightful monkey on your shoulder eating banana from your hand. Just as great are the serendipitous moments (getting caught in the rain at an open air market, eating barbequed yucca for the first time, wading in the warm surf while iguanas lounge in beachside trees). I am sure the group I toured with must have been the best in the world (but I am also sure that any group that tours with Kevin and Andi will say the same). Perhaps, the best thing is that it is YOUR tour. It can be as "zip line" exciting or as "lounge by the pool" relaxing as you choose. As they say in Costa Rica, PURA VIDA, the good life !
