i had a bus ride late in the evening... would not recommend. (if you must take a bus do it during the day!) random people were loitering outside the entrance, which made me feel unsafe. once inside, people were lying all around the ground, yelling at each other, or trying to strike up conversations with me that made me feel uncomfortable. they announced the gate through audio messages (the departures display says "See Agent" but there were no open offices at night, rendering the displays basically useless) which is hard to hear over the aforementioned yelling people. only reasons this place is 2 stars and not 1 star are because the boarding process was straightforward and because the place itself was somewhat clean. read more

Based on previous reviews, fortunately my short stop at the Pittsburgh Greyhound station was uneventful. The bathrooms had toilet paper and were moderately clean. There was a security guard, but he wasn't checking anyone's tickets as they were coming in. There are vending machines for drinks and snacks. The restaurant looks like it's been vacant for years. There are a handful of places nearby to grab a bite if you have enough time. We began to board 30 mins before our departure time and left on time. read more

Philadelphia-New York 9:20am October 31st The greyhound "station" on Spring Garden St is a travesty. Everything was extremely disorganised, you couldn't even tell where exactly you're supposed to wait for which bus (the answer is: under a random overpass, an area which smelled strongly of urine). A crude handwritten sign just said "Greyhound". Obviously, there was no seating, etc. The bus showed up on time, but the driver for this route turned out completely insane - once we set out, she would occasionally announce loudly into the microphone "Lower your voices in the back!", while absolutely no one was talking, only one person in the back was sleeping, and the entire bus was extremely quiet. She made this announcement several times, clearly she was hearing loud voices. Of course, the wifi on bus wasn't working, but that's not even so important in the grand scheme of things. Once we got into midtown Manhattan, the driver basically just let us off in the middle of some random street. Luckily, we didn't have any luggage under the bus, so were able to just jump out and be on our way. Not sure how other passengers faired, getting their luggage in the middle of a Manhattan street full of traffic. On the whole, it was a really bizarre experience, but at least the driver got us there alive. NYC - Philadelphia 7pm, Nov. 2, 2024 On the return journey, we picked up the bus in Port Authority, not some random street with urine covered sidewalk. When we boarded, the bus driver announced the "bus rules", one of which was that you couldn't use the phone on a speaker. At this point, one of the passengers sitting in front started using her phone on speaker, and a verbal brawl ensued between driver, the perp, then another passenger joined in. The brawl continued for at least five minutes, which of course made the departure late. The whole thing was very ghetto, with plenty of profanities and other fun stuff. It even seemed at one point like it may come to physical blows. In the end, thankfully , it didn't, and we finally set out. (*BTW, we audiorecorded the whole thing, if anyone's interested). We did get to Philly almost on time and were dropped off at the same Third World-type "bus stop" on Spring Garden St, the one covered in piss and other bodily fluids. But at least this bus driver didn't hear loud voices in her head, which was already a win. Philadelphia-Pittsburgh 3:55am November 5, 2024 Once again, we're back at the Third World "bus stop", under the overpass, on a urine saturated sidewalk. Once again there's a handwrittren "Greyhound" sign and lots of confusion among passengers. But this time it is 3:45am, and there are several homeless people sleeping on the ground. Bus shows up on time, there's no announcement, but we ask the bus driver to make sure it is the correct one, and board. This time, the bus driver is sane, doesn't hear voices or gets involved in drawn out brawls with passengers. Wifi works initially, then stops. The power outlets only work on one side of the bus (of course not ours), but other than that, we survived Spring Garden "bus stop" and the trip unscarred. read more

Every time I come here there always dam delay , I was here December 20, 23 . the bus that was supposed to go the nation capital and a next Connection to New York City was late past eight hours ( the sales associate that work behind the ticket counter was passing by like there didn't want be bothered one of them said the bus was damaged or there was no bus driver , well if the bus was damaged ,why was eight hours later there found a driver to drive that same coach bus ( bunch of liars ) ....there told us so much bull sh*t excuses ) . I can honestly say this is one of the best Greyhounds that I've been to! And I've seen plenty of them from Saint Louis , Chicago , DC & NYC. The bus station is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. If you want to grab a quick bite to eat, go tour the city , or just enjoy the scenery in between buses this is the places to be. It is also located near the train station and various bus lines. What I love about this Greyhound is how spacious it is. Each of the gates where the buses arrive has a seating area designated for them. This is especially useful for those peak departure / arrival times. There also is a huge area for dining. It says restaurant and gift shop but I did not see the gift shop lol. As always the staff for the greyhound is hit or miss ! Their customer service can be either really great or really really bad ! The parking down here is either non exists or expensive but then again that's fairly consistent with Pittsburgh at large. read more

And I bet he wouldn't have ridden around in Greyhounds if he were still alive. It's hard to know whether I should give it a good rating or a bad rating. On the one hand it's a pretty sketchy place with lots of homeless people and panhandlers inside and out. I have nothing against the homeless, but it's a depressing part of a bus journey and some people would be freaked out by the panhandlers - many of whom aren't homeless, and will say all kinds of things to get some $$ from you. On the other hand it has so many good memories for me - as somebody who traveled all over the whole country on Greyhound buses when I was a teenager. I remember dropping the love of my life off at this particular station after a horrible fight. Then coming into the station later to look for her. I think fights are more common when you are younger. Then things just kind of get numb and dull and emotionless somehow. Over time. Without you ever meaning for them to. It's hard to explain. But this is a great spot for the station, because if you walk out the front door you are right in the middle of downtown, close to everything. And that's much better than having it in some Industrial District 3 miles away. read more

I needed to get to Louisville, KY by 12:00. I made a reservation for a 1:55AM departure that transferred in Columbus at 5:45AM, arriving in Louisville at 11:40AM. At 2:30AM, the bus still had not left Piottsburgh. The driver was rude, arrogant, used foul language when I respectfully asked about the delay. At this point, I knew I was missing the first departure time in Columbus. I called Greyhound several times, each time telling me they could not access my information because of a computer error. When I finally reached someone who could help, they were unable to solve my issue. After I finally got a departure time, I realized I wasn't going to make either transfer departure time. The terminal was disgusting. People were actually smoking marijuana in the inner entrance. People were entering the garage area to smoke when the doors were supposed to be locked. One person almost got into a fight with the security guard who ended up calling the police. I ended up having to Uber, of all things, to Columbus to make my transfer time. My Uber driver actually drove me to Louisville! He said he was bored and had nothing better to do! We cancelled the original Uber and I ended up paying him cash. Haven't received any feedback from Greyhound after several calls. I feel embarrassed for the company. read more

Avoid at all costs. Bus never arrived, and customer service had zero insight into the bus' whereabouts - whether it was delayed and still coming, whether it skipped the stop altogether, nothing. To boot, their policy is that they will grant you a REBOOKING (not cancellation) after two hours have passed since the departure time. Completely unacceptable. read more

I came back from the Indianapolis 500 from Indianapolis Greyhound to New York and was delayed over 12 hours. (Over 6 hour delay getting on bus from Indianapolis). Because I missed the connecting bus, I had to wait an additional 4 hours in Pittsburgh's Greyhound station. I can't blame Pittsburgh or that station for the delay. However, I was venting about being confused about which bus I was taking to someone, and the customer service woman started barking at me that "this was the bus" meanwhile, the bus listed on the board did not even state that it was making stops at Baltimore, so how am I supposed to know it stopped in Baltimore? The station was even more run-down than the Greyhound station in Indianapolis. There were a bunch of hustlers asking for money or to borrow my phone. I didn't feel unsafe, however, there was zero police presence if anything did happen. It is clear that at least 5 people or so, in the 4 hours i was waiting, probably lived in the station, or spent most of their day here, and were using it as shelter. I don't blame poor people for having no other options. Either way, it is a completely "forgotten about" station that feels completely in the middle of nowhere, although there are corporate buildings outside. It feels empty and desolate. Incredibly stuffy inside. A muslim man was preying on the floor at one point. Another man told me he payed $100 round trip to the airport because he couldn't call them to ask the schedule. Then asked to borrow my phone to call the airport. If you can't afford a basic phone, how I am I supposed to believe that you paid $100 to and from the airport just to get flight info? Another young kid asked me for $1 and was going through the garbage in the bathroom to get empty bottles for recycling. Didn't feel unsafe just very depressing. Depending on the day you are here, it might be unsafe because there is absolutely zero police presence and no security guards anywhere in sight. I lost the $70 extra that i paid to upgrade my initial trip to an express bus, and paid another $60 to get from Baltimore to NY on a separate Peter Pan Bus, I lost all the extra money I paid. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE phone number. You can talk to a representative but any request has to be made through E-mail, and my request through E-mail or messaging was completely ignored after a long message and many hours on the phone with them. On a side note, Greyhound bus drivers drive so fast that it is almost scary. The trip from Pittsburgh to Baltimore was delayed about 30 minutes, and the bus driver ended up making it on time due to driving uncomfortably fast, passing other trucks and motorcycles in the left lane. Upon doing research, Greyhound has completely gone to hell once it was bought out by FlixBus or whatever that German company is, which was around 5 years ago. Drivers don't show up, they don't want to work, and leave passengers stranded for 5 or 10 or more hours in stations past the normal departure time. read more

I never leave a review but I had to for greyhound. It has been horrible experiences time and time again with the delays. One time I had to wait over 24 hours for my trip and now I'm waiting again. I've been waiting to leave since 5 am this morning. I called customer service but there's nothing they can do and they won't even give you a partial refund. Greyhound has gone so downhill and I don't understand why there's so many delays. The greyhound workers at the Pittsburgh station are overall rude and aren't very helpful. They make it seem like it's a bother to help you with even one simple question. I do want to shoutout one worker (he may be a manager or something) but he's one of the only nice people willing to help you and try to give you answers. I don't know why I keep trying the greyhound. Horrible service at this bus station. Every stall in the bathrooms were seriously dirty and nasty. Workers aren't very helpful with informing customers on their new system with flexibus. I took greyhound to from chicago and was supposed to be going to York, PA. My transfer in Pittsburgh turned into me having to get a room for the night because my bus driver did not show up from work. I arrived to Pittsburgh around 11pm and was supposed to leave to York, PA at 11:20. I never left and wasn't even informed of the delays and bus driver not showing up until 2AM! I received voucher for new bus ride and went to check in room until my bus left later around 4pm. I was then informed around 11AM that that bus was delayed and I had to get on the next bus coming in to Pittsburgh at 11pm. Worst experience with Greyhound ever. read more

I will never use greyhound again. Even before getting on the bus the experience was really poor. The terminal was a state of confusion. You can barely hear anything from the intercoms and there were a lot of delays. As I'm writing this, I'm leaving 1.5 hours late. If I had not been rerouted to a different bus, I would still be waiting in the terminal. I chose greyhound because I thought it was the easiest option to get to philly. There are hardly any cheap direct flights from Pittsburgh. I would take megabus over greyhound anytime. The Pittsburgh Greyhound station is better than most bus stations in Pennsylvania. This observation is completely relative. The station is the cleaner than most other Greyhound stations / stops undoubtedly. There are a plethora of vending machines in the station, always filled with snacks. Additionally, there is a small food court in the station. Unable to speak about the quality of the food. For those like myself who are unwilling to try the food. There is a Starbucks across the street. Plus, there is a Jimmy John's that's within a 3 minute walk. I highly recommend getting to the station roughly 40 minutes early if you're boarding number is 30 or above. People begin lining up early for the bus, much before the suggested 20 minute check in time. Ultimately, you want to avoid sitting in the back the bus. Those seats should be free, honestly. Remember to bring your patience. The Greyhound station is wonderful place, where your patience will be indeed tested. Sometimes personal growth can be found in a dark affordable place. This is basically a review of the station and not the physical bus ride. The bus ride is always an interesting experience. Just expect the worst and you will be pleasantly impressed when it is not horrible. This being so, Greyhound is my preferred bus service. I'm most often content or satisfied with actually ride. And I highly recommend Greyhound to others especially if you are traveling via the Pittsburgh station. read more

Terrible customer service is accompanied by gross, deteriorating busses. I got lucky and had working chargers on my past trip, but apparently power is unreliable. And there is no wifi. I would recommend taking one of the newer budget bus lines whenever possible. The only reason I have taken Greyhound in the past was in very cold winter months when I did not want to be waiting outside on the sidewalk for the budget busses. Had to switch buses at this location on 12/28/18. One of the employees was on an absolute rampage. You actually couldn't tell she was an employee, because she was dressed in hospital scrubs, and wasn't wearing a name tag. As soon as I got off the bus she screamed at everyone to get away from the luggage and she aggressively yanked everything out from under the storage area. One of the bigger greyhound stations I have been at, but it is just as dirty as the others. There are not very many workers around to help. I personally didn't need it but I noticed 3-4 people searching for some assistance about tickets. Plenty of restrooms, vending, and ample food court space for people to relax and eat. read more

I just experienced the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We had a 10 am bus going to Cleveland, and when we got there and went up to customer service to ask where to go, the guy just said "well you aren't making it there today." Apparently It was very delayed. Extremely unhelpful and unsympathetic and also ridiculed us for having a connection in Columbus. We booked it through them, their website set it up that way! He offered no assistance and acted like it was our own fault. We ended up having to take a $20 Uber to a car rental place and renting a car for $300, as we had to get to Cleveland that day and assumed very incorrectly that we could rely on greyhound.
