They show such kindness waiting for struggling partially disabled passengers trying to catch this sometimes infrequent bus Still another showing immense patience as a passenger insisted on getting off at a non stop. Thank you for 54C at Allegheny West noticing we were trying to figure out where we should wait. 1 star minus for the Bus 15 driver at 7th and Penn saying he did not go to the Northside. I don't think his bus rests in the city. I think he only had another couple of stops before he went back. It was Picklesburgh and 95 degrees and busses were messed up and we are old. We ended up walking home. And can you please arrange your app so stops come in order of the route. Alphabetical doesn't help those of us in an unfamiliar area. Sometimes like at the Carnegie Science Center it's hard to figure out where the bus stop is going back to the Northside. You need a more user friendly app. read more

Now known as Pittsburgh Regional Transit, I wonder how much locals know about the engineering went into the light rail. Specifically, it has a dedicated tunnel under Mount Washington and a dedicated rail bridge over the Monongahela and then a tunnel under the Allegheny. That's a big deal! Today, I paid $7 for an all day pass that includes unlimited rail, bus and incline. AND FREE PARKING at the rail station in the suburbs! Is it perfect? No but my experience today was pretty stellar with just a few hiccups. Out of service escalators are never a good thing. Construction everywhere. Loud trains in the tunnels. But 40 minutes from the suburbs into the heart of downtown Pittsburgh for $2.75 (or $7 for all day) is hard to be unhappy with. If y'all could just get it to run to the airport? The PRT is an embarrassment to the city, the country, and the region. they treat their own people poorly (just talk to any bus driver and solicit their feedback), their schedules are a mere suggestion, and their infrequent and overcrowded service during the rush hour is a source of constant frustration and headache for both drivers and passengers alike. It is very l enjoyable, especially if you're a train lover it's the best train that you can ride in Pennsylvania. In my opinion. It's a nice ride. It's smooth, but you have to get to the station at least 15 minutes early and don't take silver line. It takes 45 minutes per train. read more

I wrote to them because on 3-4 occasions, especially Sunday mornings, an East End bus has been almost an hour late or not shown up at all since their brilliant schedule revisions. Customer Service didn't respond at all! Amazing! We pay their salaries and they're not even going to respond to the people who pay them. Also, I have had twice recently to step out into a major street waving my arms to get a driver who is going fast and not even bothering to look at a clearly marked bus stop with two people standing there and almost no one else on the street! The busses are the epitome of inefficient transportation systems. I think the one thing I was most thankful for when I moved to DC was that I would not have to take the Pittsburgh buses. I understand there may be a shortage, but waiting an hour for a bus to appear (when you're not even in rural Pittsburgh, in downtown)... and it's a 33 minute walk instead, is just not it. I recently took a ride with a couple friends on the T. All three of us were totally grossed out at how filthy and disgustingly the dirty these trains are. The windows are full of grease to the point where it's nauseating, we were dressed in casual attire, but still felt like we needed to take our clothes off immediately and throw them in the washer as the seats are filthy, there is food on the floors..totally disgusting. When we got to our destination and it was time to head home, we did not bother taking the T again. We called an Uber. I don't know how PRT keeps getting funding while providing such a disgustingly, dirty, and gross product to the public. I will never, ever ride the T again Pittsburgh. read more

As a tourist, I didn't have a car, and we wanted to visit the touristy stuff that Pittsburgh had to offer. Fortunately we found out on our 2nd day that the Transit that runs in the downtown area was free of charge, and $2.50 if you go outside by 1 zone. We were able to go to the Allegheny Station to visit Heinz Field and the Carnegie Science Center, to Gateway to get a bite at the famous Primanti Bros, and to our stop at Steel Plaza where our hotel was located near the Consol Energy Center. Overall, it worked for what we needed, and we didn't have to hire a bunch of taxi's or Ubers to get around. read more

My almost 4 year old son and I were waiting for the 77S bus this afternoon on Frankstown. There was someone else waiting as well. When the bus got there the other person realized it wasn't the bus they wanted so they went to go sit back down. The bus pulled off instead of opening the door for us to board. It's like we weren't even there. I tried to waive, but that didn't help at all. We had to wait an hour for another bus to go home since we now missed what we were headed to do. Thank goodness Family Dollar let us wait inside since it was 85 degrees out. When I called to complain they refunded my day pass, but since we waited so long we had to pay the fare to go home. Even if the entire trip would have been free that still doesn't make up for the whole thing. I'm completely disgusted. read more

This company has gone downhill. Is there any accountability of a driver is late? Why am I paying a full fare on the weekends when the T is adding 30-40 minutes to my route because they're fixing the rails during normal service hours? Why is the north west part of Pittsburgh getting shorted on bus frequencies? Why aren't those buses better timed with the T? It takes me 50 minutes to take the Red Line and then connect to the 14. Then, because the 14 runs every hour, arriving at the Allegheny Station at 9:31/10:31 but the Red departs at 9:30/10:30...so now my commute is 80 minutes. The buses/T's are trashed, seats are stained, and random garbage is on the ground. I've been reporting every incident that has happened since I moved back to Pittsburgh last year and there has been 0 improvement. The Transit App is only as accurate as the buses/T's having their wifi/gps on. There's been several times when my Saturday morning desired Red Line had its GPS off, during their construction period, shortening my Allegheny station wait time to just 15 minutes. However, because customer service isn't active before 7 am, I have to take the earlier one and wait 30+ minutes at Allegheny station. I waste so much time just waiting, giving a "cushion" because the connection between the 2 are maybe 45% accurate. Pittsburgh wants to be eco-friendly/green, but the PRT has been cutting routes, focusing on other regions of the city, and screwing the NW part of Pittsburgh and potential labor force that can't depend on the city's public transportation. They're letting us all down and there hasn't been a sign of any improvement. read more

I rarely ever caught the trolley when living in Brookline and would instead board buses since trolley's didnt go there. After last week's daily commuting to work from Beechview, I am now a fervent believer. It is clean. It is unfailingly punctual. It rides smoothly. During the day it is ok for once an hour, but you need more for the afternoon workers. You eliminated the Y49 outbound 4:38 so the only other choice is the 5:13 bus and if that does not show up then 6:12. Makes it hard if that is the only bus that goes close to you house. It was bad enough when the 4:38 did not show, but at least you did not have to wait a full hour for the next bus. It would be a long walk from another bus and extremly dangerous to walk in the dark. Anytime I see a safety hazard, you're going to get 2 stars. Period. Port Authority decided to put a bandage on a sucking chest wound, when they put a "caution wet floor" sign in the elevator, instead of FIXING the floor (novel idea). Or, taking that car out of service until it's fixed. A lot of elderly, infirm, or obese people depend on those elevators. Do you really think people already unsteady on their feet should use that car? Would you, Port Authority, want your elderly, infirm grandparent on that? Not me! They should consult their corporate attorneys, but this does NOT absolve them from liability as the result of an accident. Especially after I report it as a dangerous condition. As the reviews confirm, this is a TERRIBLE public transportation service. I understand you can't do anything about the passenger, as to be expected, but waiting for almost a half hour for a bus passed its scheduled time when you arrived 15 minutes early at the stop is absolutel6 ridiculous. Also, the operators (some) are just blatantly rude. Got threatened to be kicked off the bus multiple times because I didn't wear a mask meanwhile there is no mask mandate. Get yelled at for paying with cash instead of having a bus pass. Being told I'm "dumb as f*ck for paying with cash, always hastling me about paying faster even though I make sure I'm the last one in line so everyone who isn't paying in cash can board before Mr. Dirty doesn't even come close to describe the conditions of the busses . Smells like piss and excrement. Seats are dirty and often times moist and smell like a toilet. Sadly this is my only option for transportation but that does not suggest I must be thankful for lackluster service and conditions. As a person who works many odd shifts, weekends and holidays, it's sure difficult to get a clear schedule on when buses are showing up. The ETA site is sometimes useless, their integration with Google Maps has made me late to events and functions and almost late to work several times. The expansion of arrival boards needs to extend to the busy. Why that hasn't happened is a true mystery. I am aware that things happen to busses, but too many times I cannot get a clear time as to when a bus will show up. And don't get me started on the pay stations to get connect cards. The one at Negley Station regularly is not accepting bank cards for payment. Doesnt the Port Authority know many people do not carry cash around with them? It's 2017! The city makes it unusually hard to keep a car in the city, but makes it hard to get around without one. Take a few lessons from some larger cities. How come my first time taking the subway in NYC I was easily able to navigate, but Pittsburgh makes it difficult. Website is wonky and sometimes unhelpful. Good job on raising rates and cutting services to pad some board member pockets. I can't wait until I don't have to use the bus anymore. I may event throw a party in honor. read more

I've been riding the 91(A) basically everywhere I need to go for about 15 years now. I've watched the service decrease (both in quality and quantity, of routes and buses) and the prices increase (both monetarily and in dignity, which I lose more and more of daily by using your terrible service). All of that aside for the time being, I am only really here to express how absolutely disgusted I am by the fact that I have been (and currently AM as I type this) on the same bus 3 times/days within the past 7 days...and the SAME FOOD/GARBAGE has been sitting the SAME EXACT PLACES for a solid week, ATLEAST! Its absolutely disgusting how little your company cares about any aspect of the riders experience on your P.O.S. buses. Keep charging us more money, cutting out transfers for people paying cash, cutting routes, cutting buses down from every 12 minutes to 20 to 30...forcing more and more people into each bus, cramming us in like cattle, forcing us to pay an increasingly unreasonable fare to stand uncomfortably close to other unfortunate strangers for 40 blocks. And then, not even treating your customers with the courtesy of cleaning these trash tubes on wheels. Its pretty disgraceful. I really wish giving Zero Stars was an option. Over many years of having to ride Port Authority buses or the T system I have had countless bad experiences with PAT. Bus drives are extremely aggressive on the roads and have a reputation for bullying their way through traffic, regardless of laws or rules of the road. I have been both on buses and in my car and witnessed this. I question if all of these drivers have valid licenses. Most have bad attitudes and are generally pissed off all the time and rude to their passengers. Much like the buses, the T never runs on time. The fact that they even spend the money to print out schedules is a joke. T drivers have a tendency to just stop their trains and get off the train at Gateway to go to the bathroom and make riders wait. I have never seen anything like this in any other city in the country. T drivers also love to slow down or stop before they come to a turn and then go real fast around the corner to create a whip and try to make people who are standing fall over. I'd love to see a real company come in and treat the public transit system in Pittsburgh like it should be to actually serve the people of Pittsburgh who use and rely on it, and not treat the people like pieces of shit like PAT has for years. read more

Ah. The buses. Considering the size of Pittsburgh, the bus system here is actually pathetic. I live within a 1/2 of a mile from 8 bus lines. Yet, there are plenty of places that I need 2 transfers to get to. If you don't want to go to Oakland or downtown, the buses just don't get the job done. First, as much as people are saying that there is real-time tracking, this is only half true. About 1/4 of the buses have real time tracking, which is only helpful then 25% of the time. If all of the buses had real-time, I would be willing to give the PAT a 3.5 star review. The buses are all over the place time wise. Second, the buses are dirty and over-crowded. Clearly there is a decent demand for the buses in the city. So why not actually make a decent public transportation system? Many buses only run in rush hour or once per hour. The T is a bit cleaner and significantly more reliable, however. Finally,drivers range from super friendly to scary or just rude. However, any time I have had a problem on the bus (because the biggest creeps ride the bus), the drivers have mostly been helpful. One, quite literally, threw a guy off of the bus for me. On the other hand, some drivers will refuse to make stops if they are running behind schedule. Since I am a student, I use the bus constantly, thanks to it being free. I wouldn't pay to use the bus. And speaking of paying, no one understands how the system works, so don't worry. It varies bus by bus, time of day, and more. read more
