I look forward to my training with Andrea every time we meet. I work in a high-stress​ environment which keeps me at my desk most of the day. Over time I have seen what the lack of movement has done to my overall stamina​, so when I came by Greys about a year ago it offered me the opportunity to get back some of that lost strength. From the street,​ I was intrigued by its look; it is pretty striking from the outside and even more beautiful in the​ interior​. The pictures are real, folks! It is a private training gym which makes the service more focused​ as you aren't sharing the space with anyone else. My sessions with Andrea have been challenging and varied, but she also makes everything a comfort for a jaded NY'er like me. I tend to keep my appointments on the weeknight as a finisher to my day, so being conveniently​ situated​ next to the subway helps if I am running late. It is a small team who have been there for a while and they work closely together​. The ​efforts​ they put in to keep my training on point and ​maintaining​ the gym has me coming back regularly. When I intitaly walked by the facility, I was eager to learn more information. I contacted the owner and was very pleasant, informative, and professional. His description of the Greys experience was accurate and definately a judgement free zone. Greys Gym is a small polished boutique gym,with several pieces of quality exercise equipment. I have been training at Greys's for 2 1/2 years and every session meets my needs. Due to the nature of my work and schedule, I was seeking a private gym where I can get a workout and guidance on how I can live healthier. There have always been three trainers on staff and only rotate if one goes away on vacation or is out sick. I have lost 20 lbs and have increased 15 lbs in muscle over the past two years. Being a woman that can be extremely challenging to accomplish. The team at Greys are polished, attentive, and modify any exercises in order to make them achievable for me. Most of all, I can be myself and feel good about working up a sweat. Lastly, I have had no issues with the small intimate space. I always walk into a clean environment with zero distractions. I absolutely 100% love Greys Gym. I hate working out in front of people, for many reasons, so this place is perfect. I recently finished my ten 30 minute sessions and had decided not to continue. In the end Brad had really been pushing me but my lifestyle had become crazy busy again & I didn't think it would work. A few days after my final session my husband says "wow your workouts are paying off, ;-)." In addition to that I received a thumbs up from my doctor. The straw was when a week after deciding not to renew I realized that I wasn't working out on my own. I knew I had to start back up immediately. Today was my second class for the 45 minute sessions. I lost weight by only going to my 30 minute training sessions, nothing else. I didn't supplement the workout nor did I change my eating habits, although my trainer has been telling me all the reasons why I should do those things. Well this time around I will follow what he says much more diligently & I can't wait to see those results! It's personal training so it costs. Grey's is a really unique place to train. Andrea (the trainer I've been working with for the past 4ish months) has been really wonderful in helping me achieve my goals, building around a foundational knowledge of movements and exercises. She is quite thoughtful in the design of each session as it builds off of principles we have learned in previous sessions - precisely the type of stuff I wanted to learn when approaching a trainer. The space itself is quite unique as it is on the parlor level of a brownstone in Clinton Hill, offering a clean intimate space with high quality Rogue Fitness equipment. Although it's a bit on the smaller side, I've never felt hindered by size. Whomever designed the space was quite thoughtful in the layout. Having gone to many standard, crowded gyms in the NY area - often not knowing what I was doing, I can say that training at Grey's feels quite different and has changed the way I approach working out. I've been with Greys for over a year and it's such a unique haven for those who need private training with professionals that can help you reach your fitness goals. Manhattan is never short of big chain fitness centres, and I hate the feeling of overcrowded classes and judgmental trainers who never really listen to my own phyical fitness needs. Working out is one of the most important few hours I get to dedicate to myself, so there's nothing worse than feeling like you're in an environment where fitness is a chore. Greys has totally altered my views on fitness and gyms for the better. I've always felt a little fish-out-of-water at gyms. My typical work out was pick a machine and quickly google what that machine is supposed to do before awkwardly using it for a few minutes then switching to something else. None of that is applicable to Greys. Brad takes excellent care to pay attention to your individual body movements and what does and doesn't work best for you. I have a calf injury that I had been ignoring for the better part of a year and every session it hurts a little less. Every session I feel a little better about myself between good conversation, good music, and an exercise regiment meant to bring out the best of my body and soul. It's really refreshing. I'm a very reluctant fitness person, who hasn't consistently worked out in 8+ year and, truthfully, never really made it a priority even before that. This is my first experience with a personal trainer and Brad has made it very welcoming, comfortable and just challenging enough that I don't feel like I'm making a fool out of myself, but still pushing me to MY limit. I'm only on my second session, but I already feel at ease at Grey's and more in tune with my body. Oh, and sore. In a good way! This place is incredible! I started working​ out over a year ago, and the staff has​ been super​ great. John, my trainer, has been there for about two​ years, and when​ I first started,​ I was 40lbs overweight​​. I haven't stopped visiting​ knowing​ that this will eventually pay off, and within four weeks of beginning,​ I began to shed the pounds. I have just renewed my membership package with Grey's gym and couldn't be happier with my workout regime. I workout twice a week. I already see great results. I'm stronger and feel so much better. Working one on one with a trainer makes a huge difference. You stay focused and really adapt to you own needs. I feel lucky to have found Greys Gym for a few reasons: 1) It's small and the one-on-one training is personable, effective and avoids the chaos of a big chain gym like Crunch. 2) As an over-50 guy, I need a training program that will challenge me, but not risk injury and the trainer I work with, Serge, is very sensitive to that. 3) It's in Clinton Hill, really close to my house in Fort Greene, and being able to walk down leafy residential streets a couple blocks to get to the gym and then stop in for a neighborhood coffee on the way home beats dealing with subways or traffic-clogged streets. read more

I tried Greys for 15 sessions and came in to work on a injured shoulder and groin. This is probably the best fitness related decision I have ever made. I worked with John who is the absolute best! He was very flexible with scheduling and timing which is super helpful. The gym is fully equipped and John focused on my weak areas and my shoulder got stronger and healed a lot faster than I expected! He kept giving me very different exercises and sequences which made the 30 min go by really fast and super fun and very challenging. I highly recommend it! read more

I've been going to Greys for over a year now and I truly can't believe the changes in my strength, balance and posture. Being over 40, I didn't really expect such an improvement in muscle tone! I've been going to Greys since January 2016 and I've since then committed to two one-hour sessions per week. I really enjoy the one-on-one environment unlike what you get in a typical gym. My trainer is committed, energetic, and encouraging. Each workout session is custom designed for me based on my progress and goals. The equipment is very high quality and clean. Over the pandemic, they made sure appointments continued through video training, from their home to my home. Now that we have been able to return safely, it's been fantastic.
