The ownership was so unorganized, I waited 30 minutes for my order because they didn't see it? Not sure exactly what happened but it was frustrating since we were the only people in the restaurant for a while. After actually receiving the food I was continually disappointed. I was beyond thrilled when we arrived and this location was unicorn themed! I was excited to try the duchess grilled cheese. Which is essentially a lobster grilled cheese. We also ordered the poutine and one of the BBQ Mac n cheese grilled cheese. The inside is VERY small. This was not obvious to me in the few photos I saw online. There is very little indoor seating space. The staff is very friendly, but the location feels crowded. The prices are a bit on the higher side. It was around $35 for two sandwiches and the poutine. I can understand the higher price point though since I got lobster. I wish there was a bit more lobster inside my sandwich. I felt the to-go box was handed great with the tiny bit of tomato sauce/soup thing that came on the side. Parking is a bit challenging in this area as there isn't a specific parking lot but rather street parking. Overall positive experience, just wish the inside wasn't so crowded. Personally I think it would've been a better experience if they got rid of some of the indoor seating to allow more room for people to order to-go food. read more

Two reasons, actually three why we decided to try this place. The reviews were great. Hubby is Canadian and they serve poutine. And we both are suckers for a good grilled cheese sandwich. We reviewed the menu previous to visiting but did not make any concrete decisions other than we were going to split a sandwich and poutine. Hubby and I are usually drawn to a Mac n cheese grilled cheese sandwich. We have tried so many and have not found a truly amazing one yet. We arrive around 10:30pm and they close at midnight. We order that on pumpernickel bread and the regular poutine. Our bill was $28 for only those two items! Wtf?!?! And we received an up charge for changing the bread, without warning while we were ordering. I did not know this until after we left and I looked at the receipt. They offered to deliver the food next door at the bar we were going to. The food came within 20 minutes and was still hot. The food looked and smelled good. Since hubby is Canadian, he has every right to critique the poutine and the cheese curds were limited and not as melted. It was okay but we have had better. The Mac n cheese grilled cheese was decent and it came with a tiny sample of tomato soup. If you look at the picture, you can see it's in a small sauce container. The staff were personable and friendly. The prices were way too inflated. I do like that they are open late and it may be an option for us if nothing is open for food. I searched and searched restaurants in St. Augustine. Yelp fed me all the big anchor restaurants. I wish I'd known about this ahead of time, but I felt so lucky to stumble upon it after my biscuit place closed as I was looking at the menu! After my biscuit letdown, I really had no plan for lunch, which sucks when you have a child to feed. I don't have a pic of the storefront somehow, but Grilled Cheese Gallery didn't jump out at me; almost walked right past it. From the street, the lighting inside was kind of dark, so I thought they were closed at first. Luckily I tried opening the door for the sake of my grilled-cheese-loving toddler, and I was happy to find them ready to take my order! Unfortunately, I knew all too well that it IS possible for a restaurant to screw up a grilled cheese, but I crossed my fingers. I was very very pleasantly surprised. I got the Classic Grilled Cheese ($8) for my son, and The Queen Brie ($11) for myself. My son was very happy with his standard gc. I tasted a bite of his to review, yes, it was pretty fab for that orange cheese, classic taste! I was actually pissed at how good mine tasted because I was hoping I wouldn't eat it all. I had also gone nextdoor to the Kookaburra for a mini meat pie, because you never know what a toddler will eat, so I had all this food! Anyway, that Queen Brie was bomb! It was definitely a really memorable meal, and nowhere near the prices of the big name restaurants nearby, which would never have been worth my time or money with a young child. We popped in for lunch and found this "hidden" gem (it is in downtown St Augustine but has a modest storefront). We received excellent service and my 11 year old daughter is now inspired to make adventurous grilled cheese sandwiches at home. Across from "the Park" in St Augustine the small cozy restaurant has, most importantly, great food and an attentive, fun staff. I highly recommend the Queen Brie. The sandwich has house cured bacon, french brie, raspberry puree, balsamic and sourdough. Artistically presented the flavors complemented each other. A small ramekin of the tomato basil soup was included and it was delicious just just a touch of "heat" If the music is too loud when you enter just tell the staff - they will happily turn it down for you. This review is of the Mt Dora location, which I visited during the Mt Dora Art Festival in February 2023, but which there's no Yelp page for. I received extremely poor service, to the point where it took almost 25 minutes from the time I got in line to the time I received my food. I understand they have to make everything by hand, but still. There was a group of 5 people in front of me and the cashier helped them, but then she started putting together to go trays instead of taking my order. Don't they have other people to do this? Then she took my order and then immediately took the orders of the people behind me in line. About 15 minutes later, the cashier brought food to the people who were in line behind me!! I asked the cashier where my lunch was and why those people were served before me. She said it's because I ordered macaroni and cheese on my sandwich but those people didn't. Okay, maybe their order was easier to make, but shouldn't the cooks make the orders in the order they're received? To me, serving customers out of order just feels rude. My sandwich cost $12.75 after tax with the almost 25 minute wait. The sandwich was good, but I don't think the value is there. The sandwich didn't come with anything on the side. Granted, it's macaroni and cheese on a grilled cheese sandwich which is a lot of carbs, but for $12.75, it could have come with chips or something. Though it did come with a little bowl of dipping soup and dipping cheese, but those aren't sides. So I do not recommend eating here, since there are plenty of similarly-priced places in Mt Dora.  When I posted this review to Square, the credit card processor, I got an immediate response from the business: "I am sorry to hear this- they are unstaffed today which is why she is several tasks besides just taking orders." I'm not sure why they're "unstaffed" during the weekend of the Mt Dora Art Festival, when thousands of people come into town. read more

We came in on a busy Saturday, around 3pm in the afternoon, and it was pretty packed inside. We ordered the trail boss, the duchess, and the gallery steak poutine. There really wasn't any available space that still allowed room to social distance, so we ended up taking the very last table in the back of the restaurant, which we later realized is probably the worst seat in the house. It's right by the grill, so it was pretty smoky, and the view into the back wasn't very appealing. There was a slight mix up with our order, but the staff was very apologetic.. no biggie.. things happen. The poutine was first to arrive. Unfortunately, it just missed the mark. I did not care for the fries that they used, and I barely noticed any ribeye.. just a few shavings that were the size of ground beef pieces. It's also supposed to have kimchi, which I was not able to locate. My husband and I swapped sandwich halves, so we had one of each to try. The trail boss (brisket and Mac and cheese sandwich) was good. The brisket was a little on the drier side, but the Mac and cheese was creamy enough to even it out. The duchess (lobster grilled cheese) on the other hand was just ok. There were several shells inside. I wouldn't have minded one or two, but there was a shell in every bite that I took, and my husband mentioned the same about his half. Also, for being advertised as "fresh lobster" on the menu, my expectation was just a little higher than what was delivered. The meat was extremely ground up and kind of had that fishy flavor that happens when it gets a little older, rather than the light and slightly sweet flavor when it's more fresh. On a positive note, presentation of both sandwiches was very good. I also liked that each came with a side of tomato soup.. perfect for dipping. One other thing to point out is that social distancing is not enforced and staff does not wear masks. Also, underneath the paper on our tray was dried up tomato soup, which leads me to believe that they are not properly cleaned between uses. read more

Terrific poutine: the gravy was excellent. It was large too. I'd come back for it again. Our Amsterdam grilled cheese sandwich was nice, but not up to the poutine (though my companion liked both). I did think the small container of tomato soup was a cut above, though. There was also a chipotle mayo, which was slightly spicy. We shared those two things and it was a pretty-good-sized meal. I also had a pleasant lavender lemonade. They had a bread pudding on the menu, but we didn't try it. We sat in the back. Our table was messy. The food was messy too. It was also noisy, but they turned down the music when we asked. I might have enjoyed it more if we sat in the roomier front area, but it's a simple setting regardless. You order at the counter, they bring your food to you, and you pay after you've eaten. I really want to come back for the poutine, and I'd like to try the bread pudding too. read more

After perusing many restaurant menu boards on our walk through St. Augustine city, looking for a good, healthy salad, I jokingly suggested to my husband that we check out the Grilled Cheese Gallery. Wow, we discovered the best salad menu in town, using fresh, organic vegetables and lots of them! I had the Tipsy Unicorn kale salad, with lots of veggies, feta cheese, and champagne vinaigrette, which was fresh and delicious, and my husband enjoyed a salad of mixed greens, vegetables and warm goat cheese. Among the sandwich options on the Gallery menu were pulled pork, ribeye steak, mac & cheese and many more amazing offerings. They also offer some vegan options and each sandwich comes with homemade soup for dipping. But we were there to enjoy a salad, and, reluctantly, left without sampling the soft serve ice cream treats or a grilled cheese. read more

Wow, just wow!! How is it that we went to several highly reviewed "fine dining" and regular restaurants in the area, and this won best meal of the trip?! Because ITS THAT GOOD! Sooo much variety to choose from, and hubs and I were IN LOVE with our selections. I enjoyed that the service was quick, price point was perfect, the staff/owners (Michael and Laura I believe?) as upbeat as the music and interior, and it was just a fun little place to have some artisan crafted fun food! Neither of our grilled cheese sandwiches were soggy nor oily, so happy about that. The high end ingredients translated into the real deal for gourmet grilled cheese. My mouth is still watering for more. Although I didn't care for my lavender lemonade (tasted no lemonade really), it's not enough for take any stars away from my review. My only disappointment was to find out that in my Florida's hometown, there are currently no Grilled Cheese Gallery locations. Hopefully that will change since I'm pretty sure they'd be a sure hit. So my answer to the magic question is yes!... would definitely go back and make sure I hit this spot more than once on my next visit! We ended up eating here purely by accident. The place where we planned to eat didn't have a chef, so we took off walking to find a different place to try instead of repeating some place we've already been. I suppose everything happens for a reason, because I can't begin to tell you how many times I've walked by this place and just chalked it up as "just grilled cheese". Oh My Goodness...it was absolutely delicious!!! Skylar (the chef) must be part unicorn himself because that sandwich was magical! My son had the Mondial, which included prosciutto, mozzarella, and fig...amazing! Sandwiches do not come with a side and must be ordered separately. The dipper that comes with the sandwich is not a side, nor sample, but a "dipper". You use the dipper to dip your sandwich and it's just the right amount for doing so. They do offer a few sides, salads, soups, & desserts. My friend and I ordered the fries to share and this is the only thing we weren't impressed with. For being sea salt fries...they lacked in the salt department and once they cooled...nope...but certainly not a reason to ding a star. Maybe they would have been better with some of that poutine gravy...hmmm? There's a thought! They have most of the typical drinks and I forget what off brand they carry, but they have fresh raspberry hibiscus tea! It is not sweet and it is good without sweetener, but I do like it sweet. Michelle was kind enough to bring me a cup of hot water and sugar to make simple syrup...perfect!!! Thanks for everything Skylar & Michelle! We are already talking about going back...curiosity has the best of us and we want to try a few more sandwiches. For anyone else reading this...I highly recommend this place.
