One would think there's not much you can do with a grilled cheese sandwich, but the Grilled Cheese Gallery proves that assumption wrong. There are 13 amazing and creative choices of grilled cheese here. Don't like grilled cheese? They also serve salads, poutine, mac & cheese grilled sandwiches, ice cream and other desserts. This is Comfort Food headquarters! There were actually so many choices it was hard to choose. I chose A Night in Amsterdam: Gouda, Gruyere, Swiss, Cheddar, on Artisan White. My wife had The Queen Brie: House cured bacon, French Brie, Raspberry Puree, Balsamic on Sourdough. My Amsterdam was quite a creation: three slices balanced on a pedestal with cheese trailing down more than a foot. It was delicious! My wife lauded her Queen Brie as well. We wish we had more time in Saint Augustine as this place is definitely worth a second visit. read more

Yum!! I came here as part of a party of 5 on a trip to St. Augustine this past weekend. We were tired and a little hangry when we walked in, and thankfully, everyone in the group loved this place! We ordered: the Amsterdam, the Artist, the Queen Brie, and the Classic (2 sandwiches). Three of us upgraded to a small cup of tomato soup (each order comes with a mini cup for dipping). I was the lucky person who ordered the Amsterdam, which, much to our surprise and delight, was served on a hook with melted cheese stretching down to the tray it was served on. Everyone had to take a photo of my sandwich! It contained a variety of cheeses, so while the taste was fairly classic, it was a bit more nuanced than the Classic sandwich, which only had cheddar cheese. Everyone else thought their sandwiches were delicious too. And we all loved the homemade tomato soup! I tend to be a bigger fan of creamy tomato soups, but this one was rich with umami flavor and had a bit of a kick. While this is a counter-service restaurant that's pretty much no-frills, the employees were friendly and helpful. One of them refilled our water cups at the table, even though the pitcher she had was leaking, and I didn't get the sense that they normally did that. Sadly, they don't sell soft serve ice cream any more, but there are so many ice cream shops in this part of St. Augustine that you can easily walk somewhere else for dessert (which we did). We got this place recommended to us by the groom at a wedding we were attending in St. Augustine, so we knew we had to check it out. The shop itself is pretty small inside, but they were smart about putting a big menu on the outside so you can figure out what you want before you even walk in and hold up the line. Appreciated that. And the menu really is vast. There's genuinely something for every kind of palette, which made it exciting but also made it really hard to choose. My mom and I both went with the Country Boy sandwich, which had mac and cheese and BBQ pulled pork on it. A combination made in heaven. The flavor was good and I enjoyed it, but I kept wishing there was more pulled pork in there to really make it feel worth the $15. You don't get to customize your sandwich bread (as far as I'm aware). One of us in our group got a sandwich that came with pumpernickel bread, but she wasn't a fan of that bread, so she didn't enjoy her sandwich as much. The tomato soup was a letdown too. It tasted more like watered down tomato sauce and there wasn't much of it to begin with. We got everything to-go and the total came out to $90 for 5 sandwiches, two of which didn't even have mac and cheese on them. At the end of the day I did enjoy my sandwich, but it wasn't a full meal and the price didn't really reflect what you get. I forgot to take pics, but I do remember my experience there. I was starvinggg, and this place did not suffice in fulfilling my appetite or my tastebuds. We ordered the mac and cheese grilled cheese - the Mac Daddy which is just a plain mac and cheese grilled cheese, and this was terrible. It literally just taste like pasta noodles, the cheese had no flavor. I swear no one seasons their roux when they make mac and cheese. My friend ordered the Duke which is the lobster mac and cheese grilled cheese. I didn't taste it, but I can only assume it tasted like the same mac and cheese from my own grilled cheese. When I asked him if there was lobster, he said there was maybe 2 pieces of lobster (mind you the grilled cheese isn't big). Big bummer for $20. My other friend got the Pimp Daddy, which is the Mac Daddy but with bacon. He agreed the mac and cheese tasted like nothing but pasta noodles, and the amount of bacon there wasn't present. He commented "I thought I ordered bacon with this?", signifying the lack of bacon. I asked for water cups but dude charged me for drinks, which is fine. At least I could've been told, "we don't have water cups." I was already carrying my water bottle so I didn't want more bottles to carry, that's why I wanted water cups. The place looks aesthetically pleasing, it has like an underground club vibe to it, and it's very pink. It's in the middle of St. Augustine and everything is a vibe there. This is an amazing place, it didnt disappoint. My brother talked it so he had to bring me there while I was visiting. Really cool grilled cheese menu, some even had Mac n cheese in them. I got the Queen Brie, bacon& brie on sourdough,raspberry puree for dipping and balsamic drizzle, Holy MOTHER OF YUM. The little "cup" of the beat tomato soup also for dipping purposes. They bring it all to the table, and you will catch yourself eating slow because you dont want it to end, unless you have room for another? Rainy day in st Augustine we decided to walk to grab some food to eat while we watched scary movies in our dry hotel room. After reading all the great reviews we decided on grilled cheese gallery because who doesn't love comfort food on a rainy night. I ordered the country girl sandwich with a side of fries. Sadly it was clearly a frozen chicken Pattie thrown in there, and some premade bland Mac & cheese. The tomato soup dipper was also lacking seasoning, and had no taste. Some how the fries were also bland. The best tasting part of the meal was the ketchup. Someone get these people some seasonings. My sister ordered the Amsterdam which is advertised as 4 cheeses however it was just 1 cheese and somehow also had NO FLAVOR. Such a cool concept but I got two classic ones to see how amazing it would actually be! I was super disappointed because I think you need to get a doctored up one to have flavor. Truly nothing special in my opinion for the classic and the new Amsterdam one. It was very cheesy but had no flavor. I ended up trashing it, but at least I tried it. Prices were a little much but they give a Little Dipper of soup so you can dip your sandwich. The employee was nice and you can tell they were a little frustrated as it was busy. It was very skimpy on the cheese- I expected more solid cheese portion. 2) they serve soup in styrofoam containers even when dining in 3) I'm so sorry I went to the bathroom to see that... it was filthy. There was a drain on the floor completely covered with dirt. Thinking back the tray they served me my grilled cheese on had some small food goo on the side like it hadn't been cleaned properly.
