Vegan Halloween Wedding - Absolutely hit it out of the park!…read more My brother enlisted me to help him find a vegan caterer for his Wedding on Halloween and I'm so grateful I found Arthur's. I had reached out to a couple of caterers in the area prior with the only requirement being the food had to be 100% vegan (very important to my brother and his bride). Every other caterer I spoke to pushed back on this and tried to get us to consider at least vegetarian (I think it might have been because they were intimidated by planning that type of menu?) but not Arthur's. Patty was our coordinator and she was a delight to work with - responsive, accommodating and put our minds at ease. The food itself was phenomenal! During cocktail hour there was a harvest table with all kinds of dips, roasted veggies, and a vegan sausage. They also had passed h'orderves which included a falafel, polenta cake and spring rolls which were to die for! The staff kept the plates coming so guests were never without something to munch on while enjoying drinks. At dinner there were 3 stations: 1.) americana/BBQ (buffalo cauliflower, jackfruit sliders, mac and "cheese", collard greens) 2.) Wok/Stir fry (tofu, rice, veggies, spicy sauce) 3.) Italian (eggplant rolitini, creamy veggie pasta, rolls) And then there was a late night snack! mini black bean burgers to satisfy the late night dancing and drinking craving. Needless to say no one went hungry and while this was a fully vegan menu there were only about 7 actual vegans at the whole wedding, yet the entire guest list raved about the menu. He wanted to have a party and since I love food, I volunteered to take care of the catering. I had been working with a company on plans for the event 6 weeks prior, but 3 weeks before the event, they suddenly realized that it was a Sunday and they don't cater on Sundays. Talk about frustrating! Add to that, April is wedding season in Orlando and it was Easter Sunday. Well, Chef Kelvin to the rescue. His communication was absolutely ideal. From first filling out the contact form on his website, I had fun picking out the menu items and he worked with me on ensuring there was a good variety and one of our allergies was kept in mind. He reached out the day before to confirm everything, and then was extremely communicative the day of. His staff was so pleasant, and they were all respectful and helpful the day of the event. Absolute ideal communication throughout the process for me. And THE FOOD! OMG! It was so good. We definitely had too much, which was my plan (I always prefer to have too much, running out is no fun at a party). We kept some of the leftovers at the rental and our local family (4 adults, 1 kid) took some home too and enjoyed them. Chef came prepared with takeaway boxes and was able to package it all up for us. Here's what we ordered with a bit of commentary :) - Lamb Chops (I adore lamb and this was so well executed. He confirmed desired temp and nailed it) - BBQ Pulled Pork (this was a party favorite!) - Chicken Wings (loved the crispy skin and sauce, so good) - Pop Corn Chicken Bites (super popular with everyone! And reheated really well) - Shrimp Skewers (more popular than I had expected!) - Garlic Mash (my husband keeps raving about this. It was fantastic) - Garlic Bread (bread is always good!) - Baked Mac & Cheese (fantastic fresh and amazing reheated in the oven) - Smoked Cream Corn (my favorite, this was SO GOOD) - Garden Salad (in retrospect not needed, but I wanted to provide something green haha!) From the beginning stages of planning to cost he was absolutely amazing to work with. He was able to create an amazing cohesive menu staying within my tight budget for 50 people. My guests raved about the food over and over. His staff was perfect and made my amazing day that much better. Our menu was risotto croquettes and mini beef wellington for apps. Tortellini salad. Espresso crusted sirloin and mole braised chicken. Our sides were coconut jasmine rice (YUMMM), horseradish and dill purple potatoes, roasted root veggies, and bacon butternut hash. Seriously everything was amazing but the best were the apps, rice, and beef/chicken! He was a pleasure to work with and I would love to use him when we go down to visit or for our anniversary dinner.
