I did have a hurricane and oh my Lord it was just like New Orleans. The service was impeccable. I can't remember the name of our waitress, but Lord was she good. We had a sweet 90 year-old woman with us and that poor thing was having trouble cause everything was spicy and it wasn't the restaurant fault Cajun food is spicy and they were so good to her. Everything has gone downhill over the last 6 years since our previous visit. We ordered the Crawfish Mac & Cheese as an appetizer. We did not like it at all, we told our server (Sophia) and explained we didn't like the flavor, the Crawfish was overcooked and rubbery, and the disu was cold. Sophia offered to bring us somewhere else, we declined stating we would have plenty once our entrees arrived. What I was not aware of until we got the bill, was that she did not make it right. She should have taken it off the bill considering only 1 bite was eaten. Main courses, Shrimp Etouffee for my husband and Shrimp and Grits with Debris Gravy for me. The Etouffee was very soupy. It had to be eaten with a spoon. I tasted it and all I could taste was tomato sauce and stewed Tomatoes. He said it was ok, but was obvious no one ever tasted ot while cooking. If you're looking for a spot that gives real New Orleans vibes, Tibby's did not disappoint. From the food to the ambiance, it truly felt like a little taste of Bourbon Street. Our server Brett was amazing and made the whole experience even better. We started with the gator bites, and for the main dishes we had the shrimp & andouille cheese grits and a po' boy sandwich with slow-cooked red beans and rice. The mains were absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we had the beignets, and they were sweet, flaky, and full of flavor. The perfect ending to the meal. To drink we had the Hurricane and the Hemingway. The drinks were definitely strong, but absolutely worth it. The music, atmosphere, and overall energy really reminded me of New Orleans culture. I had been wanting to come here for over a year and decided to just show up one evening. The first thing I will say is that the service here is 10/10. There is a doorman to open the door for you as you enter and exit, the hostess, the servers...3 different people stopped by our table to ask how everything was, so from a customer service standpoint they're on it! The ambiance is nice, love all the NoLa decor. As for the food, my appetizer ended up coming out after my entree so they took it off the check which was nice of them. I thought the food was subpar which was underwhelming for me because I absolutely LOVE traveling to New Orleans just to eat. My partner said her food was on the salty side, and my pasta was just ok. I've been here several times and love the food, brought a friend who had never been and she enjoyed it as well. Her appetizer was the hot honey fried shrimp. Delicious. Not too hot at all so don't let the name scare you. I had the debris spring rolls which are roast beef with a gravy dipping sauce. Excellent. For entrees she had the Shimp creole and I got the fried shrimp basket with onion rings. But we're so good. My favorite location for Cajun food. Such a fun atmosphere, it absolutely has the spirit of New Orleans flowing in every aspect of this place, from the decor to the drinks to the food and the music. It's an elevated Cajun experience, starting with the debris spring rolls, pot roast and manchego cheese fried to crisp perfection in an egg roll with a delicious beef gravy for dipping. Their hurricane is strong and authentic. Jazz music flows through the restaurant and everywhere you look has color, glitz and glam! You haven't had shrimp and grits til you've had them as grit cakes, get the shrimp and grit cake: Monica style, if you don't like spice, maybe don't get it but it's delicious otherwise. The combination of the crunchy fried exterior and the creamy grits inside is such a yummy experience. Lastly, you have to get beignets and an espresso martini. As a beignet obsessed person, it pains me to say that their bread pudding is the superior dessert. I'm not a HUGE fan of the croissant flaky style of beignet that's become the norm for most places, but that's what they have here. I visited Tibby's on Fat Tuesday to celebrate a birthday. We called ahead and were told reservations were not being accepted and seating would be first come first served. When we arrived, several parties who entered after us were seated ahead of us because they had reservations. That inconsistency was frustrating. The restaurant was operating on a limited event menu. While I understand this from an efficiency standpoint, several regular favorites were unavailable, including one I typically order. I wish that had been clearly communicated online. I ordered the fried po boy and a Hurricane. The sandwich was well executed. The shrimp were seasoned properly and fried perfectly. The Hurricane was balanced and enjoyable. The Cajun wings lacked the spice and bold flavor I would expect. The spinach and artichoke dip was acceptable but not memorable. Despite the crowd and our party of 10, our waitress provided excellent service. She checked on us consistently, kept things moving, and our food arrived hot and fresh. We left the movie theater two stores down and walked in around 9p to get a drink and just hang out. There were a small group sitting near the front, two guys hanging out near the bar and two others on the table near the bar. My friends ordere their drinks and I went with the brandy milk punch which has brandy, Irish cream, vanilla and nutmeg and cream all tossed together ($11). The drink was quite light on the liquor and was more milk than anything else but it was just a little something to sip on while we chatted about the movie and caught up on life. Tibby's serves up classic New Orleans vibes with bold flavors. My daughter and I went for happy hour last week and loved the Christmas decor all throughout the restaurant. We had the hurricanes that were part of the happy hour special, and I also tried a Sazerac. Both drinks were very authentic (been to NOLA many times) and delish! The boudin rolls were crispy on the outside and went perfectly with the creole dijonaise. It's a cool, fun spot for great drinks and authentic Cajun bites. I really liked the disco ball in the main room, and it gave such good vibes. Our server was so nice and helpful. I thought customer service was top-notch. We ordered gator bites as an appetizer, and those came out fast. They were very good, and the sauce paired great with the bites. The price of this app was a little steep. For my main, I ordered the trio with Jambalaya, Gumbo, and Crawfish Pie. The spice level was there without it being overwhelming our too spicy. The gumbo was DELICIOUS. I star item. The Jambalaya was tasty. I took the Crawfish Pie to-go, and it heated up perfectly in the airfryer the next day. I appreciated that the server boxed our leftovers up table side for us. Why can't people cook "Cajun" or "Creole" outside of Louisiana? This place is OK but it's nowhere near being in NOLA. They use and seem proud of using Johnsonville Andouille Sausage in their dishes. That's like bragging about only using Campbells soup or Kraft Mac N Cheese. They have a few restaurants in Orlando and this one is about the same as the rest. The Shrimp Po Boy was good, but the bread wasn't very crusty. The fried shrimp were pretty good though. The Dirty Rice side was OK, but nothing any better than Popeyes rice. The $6 Hurricane on Sunday was killer though! A good price for a cocktail for sure. I don't know which days have which specials, but it's worth checking into as cocktails are all hovering on either side of the $20 mark these days. I can get 3 bottles of MD 20/20 for that! If you're looking for something different, this fits the bill. But don't kid yourself into thinking this is anything authentic. Absolutely love coming to Tibbys when I'm missing New Orleans! When you walk in you I immediately feel like you were transported to Bourbon Street. The beignets are amazing, the best I've ever had- outside of New Orleans. I also really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy.
