I've eaten here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always clean and the food is always spot on. The variety is great and they're willing to make substitutions and or change things around to make it the way you'd like. Their comfort foods are delicious. I do like coming here for a patty melt because lots of area restaurants do not have it on the menu. Obviously I thinks it's good although it's 50/50 on them actually getting my fries right when I as for them crispy. The place is usually never too busy and it does seem that there is a bit of turnover with wait staff. Giving them a 3 star for service this time no one in the building and it took them a bit to realize we were there and we felt like we were inconveniencing her. Don't know maybe just a bad day which I can understand BUT! Actually this resturant is a hard sell for the wife already and this does not help my cause :/. Our group of nine arrived on a Sunday evening and after a short wait were seated comfortably together. It was quiet for conversation. Service by Glinda was outstanding from the moment we were seated until we left with many take home boxes. She went beyond the call of duty. The food was very good and the presentation was lovely. Do not waste your time and go to this location. They are extremely short staffed and have no management. Heavy set waitresses is extremely rude. I waited a good 30 minutes after placing a drink order. No drinks ever came. We needed up leaving. Never had too jays before but will not be back to this location. read more

This was TERRIBLE!!! We had got there at 12:59pm and it wasn't busy yet we were served our food at 2:00pm!! Then we were priced almost a hundred dollars as if they were a scratch kitchen . Our food was lukewarm warm almost cold and it tasted like it was frozen food. Also our server was rude and didn't check up on us at all only when she gave us the drinks and nasty food. I HATE leaving a review like this. But management is 100% to blame and people thinking of coming here should be aware. I love the food here, BUT.... We came about 4pm on a Sunday for an early dinner. Greeted immediately by someone behind the takeout counter who said we should wait at the podium to be seated. The restaurant was practically empty, maybe 2 or 3 tables had a few people. We waited quite a while just for someone to seat us. Then, after a LONG wait, looking over the menu, "several" times, changing our minds, discussing all kinds of mundane things, the server finally came to our table. She apologized and told us she was all alone. She took our orders and disappeared. Another very long wait, and the drinks came out. More long waiting for the food. This took an hour and a half for us to get sandwiches. The place was dead quiet, except for everybody quietly complaining to themselves. Listen, the server was not great. She wrote down our orders correctly, I'll give her that. But nothing came out to the table to the right person. Not the drinks, not the sandwiches, not the sides. She was overwhelmed by the few people she was serving. But.... there were other people out back who could have taken drnk orders and, run drinks out to tables, who could have run food out to tables. We are former Disney servers. We know all about being short handed and overrun with guests. Management should be jumping in, dropping off drinks, running interference, asking someone who is standing around to help run food out. Most people would take it out on the lonely server and leave a lousy tip. I prefer to blame Toojays and the management. If you can't run the restaurant effectively, it's a Sunday afternoon, just close down the dining area and do takeout only. You have caused more damage this way as our group and, I suspect all of the other 3 tables that were still seated when we left, will never be back. I went into this location around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. I walked right inside up to the hostess stand informed the young lady I needed a table for a group of 8, I was informed she was told not sit anyone else, they had just sat a group of 10. I looked around the restaurant and it was 1/4 full. After just standing there I asked her if she wanted to check with the manager, she informed me no, they will just say the same thing again (meaning not to sit anyone else) I left and we went next door to Texas Roadhouse. trust me I'll never return. I enjoy TooJays. The menu is varied and always enjoy the food. They have a staffing problem though. I went on Sunday for lunch and the poor waitress, Kaitlin, was by herself. This isn't the first time I have experienced the staffing issue. The last 2 times I visited, it was the same way. The overworked waitresses are running their butts off trying to please customers. I realize it is hard to find qualified people but I never see a manager helping them. I give 5 stars to the staff though. The bus boy was helping out with drinks. Great teamwork! Stopped in today for a late lunch. Our server Brandy was phenomenal. She is working on her birthday but took such good care of us. When it was time to leave she offered to go drinks for each of us before my Mom could even ask(she asks everywhere we go). My Mom and I both had a half corned beef on rye and a cup of soup. I had matzo ball and she had beef cabbage. My boys ordered off the kids menu. One had a salad and the other the grilled cheese. For their two sides they chose fruits so I ordered a small order of fries for them to split(which they didn't finish). Small things about the soup and sandwich. Being from Chicago our rye bread has a little more chew to it and the corned beef of my childhood had more fat on it (fat=flavor). Don't get me wrong it's a heck of a lot healthy to have lean corned beef than what deli's used to serve but you can taste the difference. As far as the soups. Both where salty. My mom enjoyed the beef cabbage I tried it and it's not for me! The matzoh ball is good but not what I grew up on. So it kills the craving but is not as good as the deli's I grew up going too. My wife and I stopped there today (Saturday 4/5/25) for lunch after an expedition to City Furniture. We have visited two other TooJay's and always had good service and good food, today was a joke. We arrived at 12:41pm and the place was near empty, there were 3 other tables with customers, that should have been the first clue. There was no hostess, it says at the hostess stand, "Please wait to be seated". After about 10 minutes, a lady behind the counter looked over and asked, "Are you looking for something to eat here or carry out?" We told here we wanted to eat here, so she came from behind the counter, looked at something on the Hostess stand and walked around the corner. Never said follow me, come with me, nada. My wife looked at me and I told her to just go around the corner and alas, there she was, grabbing some menus to seat us. She asked what we wanted to drink and that our waitress would be with us shortly, she did come back with our drinks. The waitress came by after about 10 minutes, told she was the only one there and asked if we were ready to order which we did, my wife ordered a bowl of Matzah Ball soup and I ordered a Tuna Sandwich with Onion Rings. Well, the folks that sat down after us sitting right behind us got their soup order, we sat there for a good half an hour and nothing. The straw that broke the camel's back was that our waitress was brining out food for another table that came in after us so we got up and left, never to return. Today's review is nice and sweet!!! My daughter and I wanted something for dessert and we thought about TooJays and all their scrumptious, in-house made sweets. Our usual go to dessert items are the black and white cookies, the carrot cake, or the banana dream cake (mouth watering as I type)! BUT.....Today......we decided to try the strawberry cake and the chocolate cheese cake (a layer of cheese cake between two layers of moist and fluffy chocolate cake with chocolate icing) . Took our MN family for the first time. They were so glad to be there. All the service and great. Friendliness and sincere. Everyone loved their food. Some had pastrami for the first time. Food was freshly made even the salads. Cakes for dessert and fresh made coffee. The decor resembled NY deli so that was another bonus. I specifically put in outdoor seating today to find a restaurant, and this was the first place listed. I went on the website, and there was no mention of not being able to sit outside. So, automatically removal of one star for not sitting outside in Florida with no rain until much later. The service was dull and lackluster, plus the tiny portion of key lime was removal of the second star The ambiance was very cool portraits of old New York,but it was too quiet, and eventhepatrons looked depressed. I don't even know how this location stays open. They are dead quite regularly and can't seem to get consistent staff coverage. We have gone in a few times in the last month and someone at the deli/bakery says hi, but no one is ever around to seat us. Other customers who are seated are just looking around, seemingly for a server. So we end up walking out. read more

We have been to this TooJay's several times, and the best I can say is that it has been adequate, but it is in a very handy location. Today, we tried it again because it was close to our early morning appointment. The harried waitress warned us that the menu had changed. We saw that they had removed the home fries that formerly came with the breakfasts, and increasing the prices (of course). Our "over medium" eggs came out with broken yolks that were rock hard, and the whites were very tough because they were cooked at too high a temperature. The corned beef hash was straight out of the can, barely heated, let alone browned. The has was slightly better when it was re-done, but the server did not bring a fresh serving: she took back the hash that had already been served, and they returned it to the griddle, which I believe is contrary to sanitary food service practices. When the eggs were redone, they STILL had solid yolks instead of the runny ones we had requested. The server explained that they had a new cook but that, when she tried to let him know what was wrong, he took offense and claimed that the yolks weren't broken when he put them on the plate. (There is no way the eggs cooked themselves on the plate.). Avoid this restaurant on Mondays, when the new guy is working! read more

Something where basically everything on the menu is delicious and it creates this horrible fight in your mind as to what you'll get because it ALL LOOKS SO GOOD? You guessed it, look no further! I have been dining at Too Jays for over 15 years now and the quality of the food has NEVER decreased in quality. And when I say almost everything tastes good? I mean it. EVERYTHING. Potato pancakes? Yum. Chicken Ceasar Salad? YUM Avocado toast? YUMMM Chocolate layer cake? To DIE FOR SERIOUSLY Other favorites include the Rachel, hotdogs, burgers, basically ANY of their deli salads (but I recommend the egg salad and tuna salad, even as a TJ Trio and I ask for extra carrots and cucumbers instead of olives and onions.) Their desserts are heavenly and they usually have a deal going along with them, so I'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't take advantage of that. We even get bread to go sometimes along with their deli tuna salad for sandwiches during the week. The bathrooms are always stocked and clean, as are the tables. Our servers are always knowledgeable and are never short to help you when you need it. It's never too loud, and they cater to the person in our party with a peanut allergy. Customer for 10 years, 3 times per annum. Always enjoyed the deli sandwiches until this week. Corned Beef/Pastrami with slaw - fries extra. Meat was tasteless and the rye bread fell apart. No slaw served said they were out had to ask server about slaw , info not volunteered. Spouse meal- Cabbage soup in photo looked fantastic. Served was another story. Must have been served for a few days cabbage was limited and very limp. Looked as bad as it tasted. BLT did not taste like beacon and half was left. My partner NEVER complains about a served meal even if the incorrect meal is served. There are some really good NY deli items as good as anything to be found in The Big Apple. There are thick sandwiches on artisan rye bread with caraway seeds with generous portions of corned beef and pastrami. My favorite is the NEO (nova smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and onions). It comes with a bagel and cream cheese. One can substitute potato latkes (pancakes), best ordered crispy, for the regular hash browns. There are potato knishes, too. There are dinners with an ample chunk of brisket and vegetable of the day. It comes with tasty matzoh ball and chicken soup. (They say it is the only part of the matzoh you can eat.) read more

Breakfast served last, but even the other options are wide. Soups, salads, sandwiches, plated meals -- there's a good variety that will easily appease any group of diners. They're also known for their baked goods -- and always having a large selection of tasty treats and desserts. The chocolate cake with chocolate chips is everything!
