I usually love the Grimaldi's Pizza but I went yesterday to this location for the first time and now I know I won't try it again. I woke up this morning feeling terrible and so did my friend that went with me. Consistently great service every time so I don't know why I haven't reviewed before. I guess this visit stood out because I was already overjoyed before we even sat down. When we arrived, there was a wait, so we gave the host our number to text when a table was ready. She said 40-50 minutes which was a long wait for two starving individuals. So instead of canceling it right on the spot, we walked to the car, got in and started driving to another pizza place. Literally 5 minutes later the text came in saying our table was ready, so we drove like we were on fire, all the while I was freaking out thinking they would give up our table. Unbelievably, as we were parking, the host actually CALLED to follow up and we were like "oh hi, we are walking in now". Whew! That could have been a catastrophe but we were really craving the spinach salad and the Brooklyn Bridge pizza. A small salad is a perfect appetizer for two people. We had a bottle of what I assume is their house wine, Coppola, and it went perfectly with the meal. The service was exceptional and for the first time ever, the guy who delivered the pizza to our table offered up a shaker of garlic salt which I so happily took. I try not to over do the carbs and it's kind of hard with pizza this good but we got a medium and had one piece left over. I was so happy when they wrapped it in foil for take home. I have had a positive experience at every Grimaldi's I've been to and this location is no different! Located in a beautiful, and easily accessible, part of Grapevine, Grimaldi's offers a lovely patio for you to dine on, as well as a clean and inviting establishment to dine in. I love the bar area! I don't know how they managed to make it intimate despite a wall of alcohol and tvs, but they did! The service attendants here upheld the reputation of Grimaldi's having the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and accommodating service providers. Salma, Jennifer, Caleb, and Bruce, the Manager, went above and beyond to ensure our evening was satisfactory! Well, it was that and more. The appetizers were light and fresh as to save room for the main course, their amazing Coal Brick Oven Fired Pizza. My favorite is The White Pizza but the other night, I was turned onto The Don (Pepperoni & Handmade Meatballs), The Classic Pepperoni, and a White Pizza that was topped wit Arugula and topped with Pepperoni. All were sooo very good! Our salads were so fresh and crisp. We had the Mediterranean, The Cesar (My Favorite), and the Garden which were ALL packed full of flavor. Lastly, we wouldn't dare leave without smashing some of their decadent desserts like the Canoli, the Oreo Cheesecake, and the Tira Misu (My Favorite)! The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and the service at Grimaldi's is solid! You feel like family when you go. They treat you like the relatives they really like! Ordered the meat pizza (the Don?) but didn't like the fact that it arrived soggy! It was too bad because the toppings were generously spread and not too salty! The waitress acknowledged that they come out inconsistently. I bet it's because of how far the pie was cooked from the pile of coals. Ours must have been really, really far :( We also ordered a Mediterranean salad to make it a balanced meal, but it was way overpriced for what it was! Went to here for Lunch today with the family. We shared a small Caesar and a large Don. This place is consistently good, service is good and they are pretty quick to get the food on the table. I've been to their location in Dallas as well and they have the same attributes as the Grapevine location. Solid place, good food. read more

Horrible, absolutely inedible pizza:-( Soooo disappointed, as I was at one in Phoenix last week and was recommended by the waiter to order The Don with ricotta cheese and garlic. I was extremely excited to see that there was one in grapevine! So, that's what I ordered. First pizza came out with sausage only; second one came with all toppings but no sauce and the ricotta cheese was dried up with copious amounts of bottled minced garlic poured on top. My husband's pizza came out all dried upwith barely any sauce. The manager offered us a choice of dessert from two selections. We declined and she took off one pizza. The leftovers were put in a box and thrown out as soon as we got home. We live in OKC and drove 3 hours for this because I loved it so much in AZ. The pepperoni looked like slim Jim meat, which was totally different from the large slices in AZ. I was told by our waiter that the owner owns all three restaurants in the Dallas area and they all serve the same, which is extremely cheap quality for what you are paying for. Nothing was fresh--slim Jim pepperoni, frozen meatballs, and scattered sausage is all your going to get on The Don. And please stay away from anything with garlic or ricotta--not fresh. Please train your staff on how to put ricotta and garlic on a pizza, especially when you are charging over $2 per topping. I equate this to Cece's pizza buffet--I've actually had better at ceces! Our waitress, who was also the only bartender, was sweet enough but my husband had to physically walk to the bar 3 times to get a refill. Sadly, we will never be back to this location or the others in Dallas. Oh, and nothing dessert-wise on the menu was even available?? read more

We had been to a Grimaldi's in Arizona and it was fantastic, so when we recently discovered this location, we knew we had to give it a try. And it did NOT disappoint!! Not only was the food amazing (Lemon Arugula Salad & Prosciutto/Arugula Pizza were my favorites!), but our server, Katie, was FANTASTIC! In a time where restaurant service has been sub-par everywhere for so long, it was so refreshing to have a friendly, attentive, accommodating, intelligent server!! Katie was all of that and more! And it wasn't like she wasn't busy...she had several tables, and took care of everybody with the grace of someone who enjoys their job. Thanks! We WILL be back! read more

I'm not sure what's going on with this Grimaldis location, but the last several times I've been there my pizza has been overdone with my fingertips being black from holding the undercarriage. If I wanted to order well done, I'd say it while ordering over the phone or select it as an option online. Parts of the crust also literally taste burnt and does not settle well. If I have to go to the Irving location, I will no doubt drive the extra 15 mins bc over there I know they won't overdue their pizza. Very disappointing to say the least considering I'm a big fan of Grimaldis, but this is happening one too many times to where I need to post a review and hopefully a manager sees this and addresses it to his/her staff. read more

They lost stars because of the wait time. We went on a Sunday evening. The place was not packed and our food took almost an hour! For 2 pizzas! We ordered a small cheese and the largest meat pizza. I never thought I would post a bad review for this place, but today we carried out a pizza & we didn't look at it til we got home. When we opened the box, we were shocked to see a pizza that looked like they had taken ingredients that had fallen to the floor & sprinkled them on a flat crust. We were so appalled! We decided to take it back & show the manager & he very casually said "Well, we can make you another one if you want". He also said, you can take this one, too cause we're just gonna trash it". My Cesar salad was soggy from the amount of dressing put on it-could be a Grimaldi's thing but I believe it would have been a better salad with less dressing. We were at the restaurant with a group of 12 friends for a pre-arranged meeting. Since we were there on a Saturday evening, it probably wasn't the best evening to meet at the restaurant. Grimaldi's was VERY busy the evening we were there. The restaurant is also VERY loud and it's difficult to carry on a conversation. The pizza was good but not outstanding. My complaint was it looked like the pizza makers rushed in the preparation. All of the ingredients were piled right in the middle of the pie and not spread out. Our server with all consideration took very good care of us. Even as busy as she was, she never got flustered and kept all our orders and tickets straight. This location just opened up in Grapevine, and I have never been. I highly recommend the white pizza if you are not a big fan of tomatoes like myself. It was one of the best pizzas I've had in a while, and I recommend getting it with pepperoni. These aren't your normal flat pepperonis, they are small and a little thick and full of flavor. My husband and I went to Grimaldi's Pizzeria on Saturday. We had an evening engagement, so we arrived around 5:30pm. There were still quite a few tables open, so we opted for one by the window. A lovely server came over right away to explain the pizza sizes and take our drink order. I love that there's a Moscato on the wine list! It is really, really good too. Definitely a selling point for me. We ordered a medium Brooklyn Bridge pizza and added black olives and pepperoni. It was absolutely delicious. I love the ricotta cheese! There was lots of oven roasted red peppers, but could have used more sausage. The crust was perfect. Not too thick, not too thin. Exactly what we were looking for. The pizza was very filling and so yummy! While I loved the pizza itself, the meal was quite expensive for one medium pizza, one glass of wine and one beer. It turns out they were charging us $2-$3 per additional topping. Neither one of us felt that there was enough of either extra topping to justify that kind of price. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and will be back, but next time we will not be adding additional toppings to our pizza. read more

My friend wanted to go to Grimaldi's because we had been eating at burger places for the two previous days and she wanted something different. We waited 30 minutes for 2 personal pizzas. Considering there was only a handful of people in the restaurant, I don't think it should have taken that long. I got the Margherita and it was ok. The pizza wasn't burnt like previous posts I've read, so that was a plus. The sauce wasn't that great and it was so cold in there that the sauce was cold only after being delivered to our table a few minutes prior. I've had plenty of New York pizza and this pizza wasn't up to par. As for the service, a lot was left to be desired. The Hostess sat us right away. It took a while for the waitress to come over and take our drink orders. She wasn't friendly and seemed kind of annoyed that she was working. Although, when she was hanging out at the Hostess desk she was all smiles and full of energy. After we got the bill, we needed change, which took WAY too long. When she finally returned, I said, "Thank you!" Her response was, "Yup." Where have everyone's manners gone? The pizza here is really really good. Don't get me wrong. If you are a fan of really authentic thin style pizza, this may be the best. The ingredients are fresh and taste great. However, there are no set pizzas on the menu, every pizza is custom made and each topping costs from $2-$4, most of them $4. Custom made pizzas really don't bother me because I can create a masterpiece, however with the topping cost, this made our 2 small pizza and one personal size pizza with a few toppings over $80 with tip. Thats with a lemonade and tea only! Our service lacked attentiveness, although they were very friendly and nice to our children, they just didn't check on us after delivering the costly pizza. read more

Oh my goodness. We just went to Grimaldis and sat there for 10 min and no one even looked at us. Obviously there is a shortage and we have to be patient - but two hostesses did not ask if we needed a high chair and they didn't do anything during that time, and TWO waiters came to the table next to us and cleaned plates, at the same time, and another table next to us got service as they sat down. So we walked out of there (and nobody even noticed, again). It was AWFUL. Again, I would be ok with that if they were short in staff, but there were plenty of people. I was so excited to try! Oh my gosh, so good! If you're visiting the area and want a clean break from heavy bbq and spicy meals, this is just the place. The pizza here comes in 12', 16' and 18' options with either white or red sauce. There are five different topping combos and you also can pick from about 15 other toppings to create your own. The pizza itself is delish and the mozzarella is so fresh! Service here was fast and I love how you could see a cook hand tossing pizza dough right near the tables. Food is amazing!!!! We usually start off with the Caesar salad; a small Caesar is usually good for 3 people. Their pizza is delicious and they have a great variety of toppings. My favorite combination is artichokes, mushrooms, and their teeny pepperonis. A large is 8 hearty slices and easily feeds 3 or 4 people. Their house chianti is very tasty and quite inexpensive. Service is hit or miss. I've had great service there but tonight it was subpar. I went in with my mother, niece, and baby for dinner on May 29, 2014. Our waiter forgot us at times even saying at one point that he "forgot that we were in there." He didn't even pour my wine into my wine glass, offer to serve us the first pizza slice upon arrival, or even offer to box up our pizza. Coal is a dry heat keeps the oven humidity lower this makes the crust crunch slightly on the bottom. Combined with the right amount of cheese and sauce the top is free of liquid. Went to Grimaldi's on a recommendation from some locals. We ordered small salads that did not appear small. They are for 2 people at least. I did not back down from the challenge and consumed the entire Cesar salad on my own. It was delicious. Next came the pizza. This is where it got interesting. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge pizza. This was not my choice and I would not have picked it but I wasn't making decisions. I would have missed out on a great pizza if it were up to me. I really like the BB (I made up that abbreviation). We had a special occasion to celebrate tonight and Grimaldi's did not disappoint! We called ahead to learn of available seating inside and on the patio by the bar where pick-up transactions take place. We chose the patio and one of the three tables in service. The waiter greeted us with a mask and gloves on and we felt very comfortable dining with COVID-19 protocol in effect. It's clear the management takes the health of patrons very seriously! We enjoyed half-price house wine and cold beer from the tap. The antipasto and spinach salad were great as usual. The pizza came out perfectly and we enjoyed the patio basically to ourselves as dusk settled. Thanks so much for keeping us fed and safe. Bravo! read more

I was so excited to find that they opened a Grimaldi's close by in Grapevine. I wanted to like this place as we have been looking for a NY style pizzeria. Walked in on a Sat night and the place was buzzin' so I sat at the bar. Love the layout of this restaurant with the outside patio, their bar opens to the outside; we will love this place in the spring/summer. The bartenders were not so warm, but tried to warm them up when I saw they had Crispin on the bottled beer list, I quickly ordered and was informed they were out of Crispin, WHAT???? Out, ok what white wine do you have that us fruity? I was told they have Riesling which I like so I ordered that, only to get it served at room temp. White wine is supposed to be chilled so when I asked about it I was informed that one of their wine fringes was not working. Uggggg, strike 2. Come on help me out here, I was annoyed with the excuses...maybe I was just hungry. So I am drinking my wine with ice in it... The bartenders keep checking in with you which is nice so I finally decided to order a pizza with Italian sausage, pepperoni, roasted garlic(FYI-it's not roasted, its raw) and sun dried tomato. The menu is simple which is nice and makes it easy to order. The pizza arrived and looked yummy. You cannot pick the pizza up as the crust is thin and flimsy, so you eat it with a fork and knife. The pizza tastes really good but the crust on top was doughy. Not a fan of that aspect of the pizza. I only ate 2 pieces so I asked for the rest to be packed up to go. I asked about ordering next time as to how I should order so that the pizza is crusty and not doughy, the bartender indicated you could ask to have it cooked extra crispy but then I wondered why he did not asked me how I wanted my pizza crust to begin with. We decided to stop by this restaurant after we had to purchase a new phone at the ATT store next door. We were all starving and really wanting a quick family meal. I was actually surprised when we entered in - I'm not sure what I expected, but I have to say that I LOVED the décor and ambiance. It was so cute and felt totally like an authentic pizzeria. It won me over by first glance. It was so casual and family friendly, but still so modern at the same time - loved the place even more. We ordered a large and a medium pizza (we have a family of 5), in addition to, a large salad and refreshments and it was more than enough food. Plus, totally affordable! The spinach salad was really good - the balsamic dressing was delicious, and the thin crust pizza was very good. I really enjoyed the fresh ingredients. We will definitely be going back soon!
