This was my first time in Clearwater and was looking for something unique. Found this place on Google and was SO glad that I did. It's very small, the owners greet you immediately. They tell their stories of how they came to be where they are now. The beer is delicious, so many different flavors that I've never had before....and I drink a lot of beer ;) if I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely come back to this amazing little spot! Best brewery in the area by far! Nanobrewery that makes everything fresh in small batches. Cool setup with classic movies playing most nights. They have good sandwiches and cheese plates if you need a bite with your brews. Also, they have a beer supply store in the back and give great advice for homebrewing. read more

What can I say, get off the beaten path and give this place a try. It's a little gem nestled in an industrial warehouse park. The ambience is mad scientist/nerd serving amazing beer and showing older movies. The front/main part is small and quaint with couches, chairs and tables placed about. They show old movies on the TV behind the bar. They have an area behind the main area for the main movie night. Two movies shown nightly on Saturday & Sunday on a big screen. It's amazing! The owners are wonderful and the crowds are always friendly. I had heard about this place from my neighbors. So glad I dragged some friends along and gave it a try. I've visited about half of the 60 breweries in the metro Tampa area, but more are always opening! So much beer, so little time! The Grindhaus is an interesting place, with a different business model. It IS difficult to find, located in a warehouse in an industrial park off Hercules Street in Clearwater. The beer-tender explained that they are an experimental small-batch brewery, and brew their beer in what appeared to be 20 gallon (or so, I'm not a brewer) tanks. Beers are served in 8 ounce flights, in graduated beakers, going along with the "experimental" theme. Experimenting with beer is probably fun for the brewer, but perhaps not so much for attracting the "regular" customer who may find a beer they like, but perhaps won't find it on subsequent visits. We're experienced beer drinkers, and know what we like, but they only offer (or we were only offered) 8-ounce flights, rather than a 16 ounce pour. The capacity of the tasting room is smaller, with seats for perhaps 50 people, tops. The lighting is DARK. When we entered the taproom, it was so dark we had to stop for a moment to let our eyes adjust. Because the taproom is located in an industrial park, and there are only TWO parking spaces for each business, you'll likely have to park in front of someone else's business, and that may be a concern. We didn't have a problem, but it was a Saturday when most of the neighboring businesses were closed for the holiday weekend. With the number of breweries in the metro Tampa area, a brewery has to be truly excellent for me to return on a regular basis. If you're in the neighborhood, perhaps the Grindhaus is an attractive option, but we don't, so it's unlikely we'll return. read more

Very cool place. The walls were decorated with posters of cult classics and the beers were served in beakers. My fiance and I got a flight as well as a cheese and meat board. Yum! Everything is brewed in small batches, so you can't get a growler to go, but the beers were all great. They had a good variety to choose from. My favorite was the honey cream ale. read more

The idea of learning of about some our local beer sure was exciting for me so went to check out after reading glowing Yelp reviews. I was super excited to tour and learn a little bit about their craft. We drove all the way from Tampa to visit so our time and money wasted. When we got there I was nothing less than disappointed because it was closed, although clearly advertised as open from 2-10 pm. A lady answered the door after we knocked on it and said it was closed due to a private engagement. Not only is it in the middle of nowhere (storage garages) there are no other supporting business like other restaurants or bars. Not many good words for this place. Sorry guys just tears for this review, even warm beer and cold food would be an improved evaluation. If you like random events and hours for Brew houses this place is the best in the area. The beer is fantastic but what makes this place is the mom and pop atmosphere. This is a small brewery but you get individualized attention and they take the time to explain each beer and let you sample any beer before making a choice. The Pillow Talk Porter is smooth and delicious and the Big Kahuna IPA is just enough hops for any IPA fan but not too much for those who aren't hops fans. read more

Stopped into this brewery because it was on our Tampa bay ale trail. Let me say this place is awesome! The atmosphere is very unique and comfortable, Robb (who is also the brewer) and Lisa were so friendly and accommodating. The beer was amazing (and I'm super picky) I loved everything I tried. My husband and I went here a few weeks ago and got flights - so good! It was kind of hard to find in their industrial park but definitely worth it. They served flights in 6 oz beakers, which was really neat. We ordered 8 of their options and the bartender let us try the other 2 we were curious about - we didn't even ask, she just heard us talking about them and offered up a sample. Their pumpkin seasonal was delicious and we really enjoyed their IPAs, even though we're not big IPA fans. They also played old B horror movies which was cool. I'd go here again! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in since we are doing the Gulpcoast Passport and the Tampa Bay Ale Trail. I highly recommend both of these programs, they are great ways to check out the area if you are new or just want something exciting to do on the weekends. Grindhaus is hard to find but definitely worth the effort. We walked in and had to wait for our eyes to adjust, you would think you had walked into a cave turned experimental beer haven! They had Zombieland playing and some brats on the grill for sale. We were helped by a very helpful bartender who explained that they were experimental, that they brewed on one setup located right next to the bar, and everything was very fresh and limited in supply. We ordered a flight for $12 (4 8oz pours instead of your usual 4-6oz pour). There was a wide variety of styles to choose from: we went with Pumpkin Talk, Oh, Beehive! Honey Cream Ale, Big Kahuna Tropical IPA, and Coffee Nightman. My personal favorite was Coffee Nightman but I like a lot of coffee flavor in my beers. The Big Kahuna was very different and I could have had A LOT more of this. We watched the movie, chowed on some free popcorn, and sipped some great brews. A couple next to us was watching Sunday football on their iPad. Overall a very chill and great space to spend some time. The staff is super friendly and helpful when making suggestions. In an area of cookie cutter breweries Robb and Lisa shattered the mold creating one of the most fun and unique breweries I've ever seen.
