Food...excellent. I am so happy to have discovered a place in the area that has such a delicious modern brunch menu. Before today, my husband and I had always had a difficult time deciding on where to spend our Sunday Fundays. We always had to drive to Lakewood or Rocky River or Cleveland for a quality brunch....but no longer. We can now drive 5 minutes to Grindstone! I ordered the chicken and waffles. I was served 5 generously sized pieces of fried chicken tenderloins on a stick. The breading was crunchy and did not overwhelm the chicken. They lay atop 3 golden waffles. The meal came with a sriracha sauce that had nice heat, but a hint of sweet. I asked for a side a syrup- to satisfy my sweet tooth. I mostly enjoyed combing the waffle, chicken, sriracha, and syrup to make one flavorably complete bite. My husband ordered the porkbelly Benedict. My favorite part of that meal was the honey mustard bbq hollandaise sauce. We started with a bloody Mary and it was one of the better ones I have had in a while. But I really recommend the mango mimosas. Fresh mango pieces and a little mango vodka added. The best part about this brunch is that it's not just on Sundays! They have brunch on Saturdays too! Used to enjoy this place a couple times a month with friends but last couple of outings were subpar. Most certainly there is change in the vibe and process with new owners. While one tries to be understanding in this "new world," I was always impressed with the previous owners, Bob and Justin, making the rounds with customers to gauge satisfaction. New managers don't seem to be as involved and some of the second tier can be kinda surly. Seeing a lot of misfires in the kitchen with burned food, slow orders and I, for one, am not a fan of their quesadillia which is heavy on cooked veggies making it terribly soggy. (Didja know that "queso" is cheese is Spanish. That's the way it should be made with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on the side...maybe chicken or beef on the inside for an upgrade. In any event, the tortilla should be browned and crisp.) They can make some great pizzas if the crew have their heads on the ball, but there are better places nearby....might I recommend the Depot's short ribs...Taking my money elsewhere. read more

I was recently at this place filming for a tv show and recommended it again to another film crew. We went around 12:15pm so the service was seat yourself. There seemed to only be one waitress (completely understandable given the time of day and it's Tuesday). Food and order taking was a tad longer than expected but the food was still prepared marvelously and very good. I had the Bourbon Meatball Sub which was phenomenal and filling. Cute little restaurant/bar. Truly awesome dart board area. Restaurant seating is separated from bar area. They play a huge range of music from Country to Mamma Mia soundtrack to Linkin Park. Good service, clean and casual. It's a great place to meet up with friends. They had a big pull down screen that I assume is used for big games. Full bar service. We didn't eat. We had an amazing time at a fundraiser here on a beautiful spring night. The garage style doors to the patio were open to allow the nice air to flow through. The pizza was hot right out of their large oven, that was in the line of sight. The chicken wings were more like normal size chicken. Which our friends really enjoyed - bbq and hot sauced! The Italian salad dressing service with a spring salad was really good and in house made. I wouldn't mind going back to hangout on their patio while enjoying baseball or preseason football on the large TVs. They had a nice selection of adult beverages and prices are average. Delicious! I placed an order on DoorDash since I had a gift card. I got the Patty Melt while my boy friend got the Philly with chicken. Both were so good and the fries were crisp yet soft. Nothing was soggy in the takeout box (about a 20 minute drive from the restaurant). All the food was cooked, packaged and delivered perfectly. I will be ordering from here again and hopefully going into the restaurant after COVID! read more

I ended up in Berea for a work trip and just stumbled upon Grindstone Tap House by chance. So glad I did! The food was exceptional and the hospitality was second to none! I was dining solo so I bellied up to the bar! Katie and Cheyenne were the bartenders that helped me that night. BOTH WERE PHENOMENAL! Very friendly, attentive personable and on the ball. I travel a lot and I don't think I've had a better experience. And it was a busy night. Would love to visit again if I'm ever back in the area. read more

I think I have been to Berea twice in my life, and the second occasion was for a special Fat Head's Beer Dinner event at Grindhouse that my friend wanted to go to. Appearance wise, I think this place looks like a used whole-in-the-wall sports bar, you can probably get a couple more years of good use out of it but don't be surprised if the bathroom ceiling collapses on you from water damage while you're on the toilet. For the special event this is what was on the menu: -Watermelon arugula salad with feta and a balsamic vinaigrette. -Fried calamari, kim chi, and a sesame oriental glaze. -One butternut squash empanada with crushed bacon, maple syrup and creme fraiche. -Sliced filet, blue cheese polenta, and charred brussel sprouts with a red wine glaze. -Banana cheesecake, strawberry coulie, and whipped cream. Beers: -Sunshine Daydream -Goggle Fogger -Spooky Tooth -Up in Smoke -Bumble Berry My friend and I really enjoyed the food and think that the chef did an awesome job! Only negatives were that the calamari wasn't that impressive compared to the other dishes, and the portion sizes were a bit small so we did leave a little hungry still. For the beer, it wasn't bad, I'm just not a fan of the beers made with bourbon (spooky tooth & up in smoke) and gave those to my friend. Oh and the dinner came to about $50 a person including tax and tip. Funny/awkward side note: A guy who I had talked to months before (and who had sent me a VERY risqué video) was there. Like what a small freaking world, the gods have got to be messing with me. So yeah, we sat as far away as possible and I tried to hide behind a group of middle aged women singing Vanilla Ice songs. In conclusion, I haven't had their regular menu, so I can't comment on that, but I would definitely consider driving out to Berea again for another special food/drink event. read more

Made a reservation for the patio via the reservation database only to be told on arrival (after a good wait to be acknowledged) that the patio is first come first serve and the reservation system is incorrect in allowing you to pick patio and there were no patio tables available. The atmosphere is lack luster so would not have wanted to eat inside even if we had been willing to. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for good ambience. Came here with a couple of buddies for the first time, one of which was in visiting for the holidays. It was my buddies last day in the 216, so he wanted something different. This place hit that note, one of us got the prime rib, which was finished surprisingly, that was a big cut. I got the fish 'n' chips, which was good, the only down fall is, the batter was to think on the fish. Everything was cooked properly but the batter was a little thicker, which made the batter not stick to the fish like it should, otherwise everything including the beer selection was very good. read more

My wife and I have been here about 4 times in the last 6 months. I have had 3 of their burgers. Always good. Juicy, with great toppings. Usually get the onion rings. Good selection of beer, had a couple of really great porters. I have had their pizza at a fundraiser and it is ok. Their wings are good, big, but last time we were there, because of the shortage, just too much to spend for wings. Never have had a problem getting a table. They have outside seating in the front.
