They notified me less than an hour after I got the UPS notice that the package arrived at their location. I showed up just a short while later to start the process. Its a nice small shop in a quiet part of town. I really appreciated how chill the atmosphere was. I think it took all of 10 minutes to get the paperwork done, and off I went. 10 days wrapped, and I went for my pickup today. Again, the shop was super chill. Took less than 10 minutes to wrap everything up. Start to finish, the process was painless. Most gun shops are typically not places I'm super comfortable at. They tend to have semi aggressive staff, customers, or both. And they also tend to be very vocal about their political affiliations. VC Armory had none of those things. That alone is going to make them my go to LGS from here on out.

They told me it would take three months to complete, which is already pushing in when somebody decides I'd like to put a red dot on my gun. They finally returned my gun in January and I still haven't received the plate so I can put the red dot on, it's February ! In hindsight I should've traded my gun in on an MOS Glock 45 and bought a Johnny Glock trigger. I hate that they attach your site to the mounting plate. It would be better the way Glock does it out the box. Do not have this company do your work.

I was asked to go to the main counter where I of course allowed staff member to open the case and examine the arm for safety purposes/standard protocol anywhere. I explained what I wanted to do and found the staff member to professional yet very personable. I am relatively new to the area and so this was a welcomed contact. I had been quoted a price for the action over the phone prior to my visit and the price was the same. This is very good-to find a business with the integrity, know how and desire to help the costumer with their needs. There was a large amount of firearms, equipment, ammunition and other shooting needs available. I have found a new gun store I can do business with, no need to go anywhere else. Went in for a repair on my rifle. Ruger would fix it for free. It seems it was delayed a few weeks…read morebecause they forgot to send it till I reminded them. I had to go back in twice because ruger replaced my reciever and it was being treated as a new gun. I signed paperwork that said $0 owed 3 times. I was told I'd have to pay $40 for shipping wich is fine. Than at the last minute as they're handing me my gun they let me know if can't leave with it without paying +$200 in California taxes. Keep in mind I was there 4 times amd they never once mentioned I'd have to pay that much to send it out and send it back. I could have had it repaired here for that price. I have all the paperwork to prove it. I understand the mistake, but I don't understand the lack of explanation and attempt to make it right. Disappointing. There's a lot to like about that store.

Today I called this business for the first time, and I am simply blown away (no pun intended). This is a "one man show" business (like mine is), and Courtland (the owner) wears all hats. Of course you must make an appointment (like most other gun stores since the China virus arrived), but I would imagine this is Courtland's regular policy, as is THE only guy. Although I have not yet purchased from him, this will be my exclusive gun shop from now until if or when I leave CA. As you speak with Courtland you immediately recognize that he is extremely knowledgeable (as you might hope since he IS the store owner), and he seems to be an extraordinarily straight shooter. If he had what I was looking for I would be there now to purchase it. But like so many other gun stores, his inventory is quite limited at the moment. However, Courtland is happy to try to locate the gun you are looking for with his 4 distributors, plus other websites like GunBroker.com, and he will notify you and order the gun the next day upon arrival. The majority of Courtland's customers seem to be in law enforcement, but he also sells to non-professionals (by appointment). When I asked him about the best personal carry semi-auto pistol he would recommend, he told me his first choice. However, when I NEXT mentioned that I MAY relocate to Arizona, he switched his recommendation to a different gun due to the fact that it could also receive a much larger magazine as compared to CA. He is also going to call all 4 of his distributors, and if they don't have one they will order it notify him once received. WOW! I have been looking for this particular gun for over 3 years, and have called numerous other stores, and this is the ONLY dealer who not only gives you the time of day, but in fact WORKS for you to help you to find what you are looking for. At this point I am happy reminded of what a similar store might look like back in Mayberry in 1966. I would imagine that this is the type of service I MIGHT expect, but never in these times!
