Just completed a beginner's overnight hike this past weekend with Tarita. To say it was amazing or empowering would downplay the experience. I am a 53 menopausal "not fit" lady. Exercise is not really my thing so I had a lot of reservations doing this hike with some girlfriends who are both in much better shape than I am. Tarita held a zoom call prior to the weekend to give us all information and time to ask questions. I felt prepared to go...and yet, when Saturday morning came, I was pretty anxious. What if I can't make it? What if I hurt or can't keep up and I ruin it for everyone else? What if I FAIL?! I won't lie and say this was easy. It was not. At least not for me. There were definitely moments in the hike into and out of camp where I wasn't sure if I could keep going. That said, Tarita was great about stopping and asking how we were all doing, feeling, checking in on her pace...I'm sure that was all mostly for me, but I certainly appreciated it. After all, she can't read my mind...though I'm sure my face said it all at times. When we arrived at Dardanelles Lake, our camp for the night, there was joy...sheer and epic joy looking down in the lake in all its splendor. What a beautiful place! Camping was fun and relaxing. We had time to wander around on our own, soak up the sun in the water and on the granite slabs. I learned a lot about myself and my self-talk, how it can hinder or help me. I was asking myself on the hike out on Sunday morning at one the most challenging inclines..."would I do this again?"... the answer was a resounding YES! It was hard and I have bug bites and two days later, my body still hurts in places. And regardless of all that, I would absofrigginlutely do it again. I may do more walking leading up to it, with gradually adding some weight in a backpack...but I'd do it again because the feeling of accomplishment, empowerment and friendships made or strengthened was 110% completely worth it! Tarita is an amazing guide and her experience and expertise set me at ease and I felt safe in her tutelage.

I'm so happy that my friend, Tarita, has found her calling. She took such great care of me and the other ladies on our beginner's backpacking trip. She provided the equipment and I feel like we had everything we needed. She knows all the tricks to make the experience the most enjoyable it can be and she was happy to teach us all. I highly recommend that anyone who is thinking about getting into the sport of backpacking (hiking out into the wilderness and sleeping out overnight) should try it out first before purchasing equipment and definitely talk to experienced people first - call Tarita.

The tour guides (aka very accomplished paranormal investigators) were engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Napa's history and the paranormal. It was the perfect mix of spooky, fun, and fascinating -- we learned so much about downtown Napa along the way. We can't wait to do their Sonoma tour next and to watch the documentaries the tour leads are part of. Highly recommend!

Attendees become paranormal investigators during the tour, given several tools to track paranormal activity (spiritual dowsing rods, and a ghost hunting meter that measures electric signals (as ghosts give off electric signals). We made about 4-5 different stops that are either haunted or have affiliation with death, and Devin helped the group communicate with ghosts during some of the stops, combining storytelling with interesting historical events in Napa. We had a combination of skeptics and believers in our group, including at least one witch. I, of course, came for the entertainment, getting to talk about serial killers, learn a bit about history, and also get in a few laughs as Devin brings the humor as well. I did learn some new things, such as the difference between a ghost and a spirit, possible origins of the terms "lobbying" and "pulling my leg", and that Cole's Chop House (where my bf and I had dinner earlier that day) was formerly a mortuary. We ended at the courthouse, not where we started the tour, with the story of the last public execution in California which took place here in Napa. Overall, we had a fun time, and it's an unconventional way to tour the streets of Napa, and definitely enjoyable if you like ghost stories.

Worth noting: you are on long train with 3-4 different experiences and it seems you get different things depending on what you paid for. The my may have a tea, beer train, wine train, etc. We were in the back of the train and got the slowest service and stuck in a car with no AC. Ended up on the open air car and it was nicer. you might be better off paying for the base price; buy a drink or two and call it a day. Don't expect gourmet food here; bring a picnic and eat outside before/after your trip.

Dessert consisted of a very small piece of cheesecake (about the size of a quarter) and a single scone. The sandwiches were finger-sized and limited to chicken salad or cucumber. While additional sandwiches were available, the portions were still quite small for the cost of the experience. If you are seated near the front of the car, it becomes very warm during the ride. Tea service was another disappointment. Tea was served using individual tea bags, and service was slow. During the entire two-hour trip, I was only able to get two cups of tea. For my second cup, I had to actively search for the server because they did not come through the car frequently. Overall, the experience felt overpriced for what was provided. The scenery was enjoyable, but the food portions, beverage service, did not justify the cost.

We made last minute plans but Napa Valley Aloft was great to work with and luckily there were spots available for us to go on the day we wanted. We spoke with Paula over the phone, who got us registered for the excursion and took credit card details over the phone. The team clears payment on the day of the ride. We met at 944 Main St. at 5:30am. This is their main office location in downtown Napa, which may be confusing because the Tastfuli app that you're asked to download for the waiver shows an entirely different address. I had to call the day before our ride to confirm the correct address. The team provided complimentary coffee and pastries/snacks in the morning and went over safety protocol. Shortly after we were in vans to be taken to the designated launch site. We were one of the first vans to arrive, so it was really fun to watch the process of the balloons inflating. Ferrel was our pilot, and he was really cool. The ride itself was very smooth, and we had clear weather at the golden hour. The basket went right under my sternum, so I felt very safe. Our ride lasted about 75 minutes, but it varies between balloons because of where the pilots decide to land. The landing was not bad at all either. After the ride, we were picked up by our sprinter van and taken back to the original meeting area. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone!

It is tucked into the hills east of the Napa Valley. The country roads to get here are narrow and windy. Though a little tough to get to, what you will get in return is lack of crowds and serenity. Did a 5 mile loop here, which started with a climb up a hill through an oak lined trail. It climbs for about 25-30 minutes, and most parts are quite shady, so quite nice. Most of the views are just of the neighboring canyon landscape. You also may run into a few cows here and there. You also may run into pockets of bugs flying in clusters. This doesn't really *bug* me, but just FYI. On the descend is where you will run into the lake. The remaining part of the hike will now be flat, out in the sun but literally lake side. The blue from the sky and lake mirror off each other. A cool breeze often bounces off the lake to ease you from all the sun bathing you will be exposed to. But if you take out your earbuds for a while and just listen to the natural sounds here, (highly recommended), it will sedate you into a meditative state. This lake is so quiet, that you can hear the voices from the people on the boats, hundreds of yards away. It's crazy. So lots of bikes on this trail as well, especially this flat, lakeside part. So keep on the right side and be mindful on what's behind you at all times. And even though out in the cuts, you're still really only about 20 minutes away from restaurants/wineries of the Napa Valley.

If you follow the road all…read morethe way until it dead ends you can park and follow the trail around the lake, or you can go up into the trails that veer off of the main trial up into the hill. These paths are dog friendly which is a huge plus, and the trails are great for mountain bike riding! We've also kayaked as well and have come across fresh water otters that are so curious and love to follow your kayak. The absolute BEST time to come visit is in the spring when the grass is so green and all of the flowers are blooming. The water is usually very calm and there is a ton of wildlife to just sit and watch. It's one of the most scenic places in the valley, and it's so close to downtown St. Helena so after you can always go get lunch! Whether you're visiting or live in the valley, visit this gem!
