For starters, my niece and her friends call this place, "The Groc-Out," pronounced "gross-out" but said lovingly. There really isn't anything gross about it, but when I was a kid, and my Dad would want to drive to the one in Tacoma, I'd balk. I'd tell him that I didn't think expired and dented cans were safe . . . Well, that was my supposition, but I've been proven incorrect by far. You can find some awesome deals here, as well as at the Valley location. I actually met the owner once, when I was photographing a poorly signed disabled parking spot outside his store, and he came out to tell me he rec'd a ticket for parking in that poorly signed spot, too! But I digress . . . Just today I bought Reese's Cups for 3\$1, single serve Velveeta & Shells packs for .50cents each, and awesome wheat Pringles snack sticks, with a box containing a bunch of individual packs in it for $1.49. I frequently buy expensive cheeses there for rock-bottom prices, and they sell milk, veggies and eggs all very well priced. So why is this stuff cheap? Well, a few reasons. First, if some brand changes their packaging, and they have caseloads of the old label already made, they sell it to places like Groc-Out. Also, if there is a promotional item (i.e.: Shrek cereal).... that only has a traditional grocery lifespan for as long as the show/promo is current/hip. However, the food lasts much longer than that, so they offer it. A last example is seen in the brands which they sell. They often have Meijer products. Well, Meijer is a brand in the mid-West, so if they have overproduced for demand, they ship it to a market in which they are not, to sell it at a markdown there, so they don't compete with themselves. Perfectly good, but we luck out as it is unfamiliar to us. I buy almost all my cold medicines and facial cleansers there, as they are awesome brands, again marked down. They also have home goods, cleaning goods, extensive frozen foods, many times I see organic and gluten free choices, lots of beverages, including a huge wine section, and lots of seasonal goods. The checkers seem to be more personable than at most retail/grocery outlets, though the folks stocking the aisles are kinda non-interacting. The best bet is to go by there before you do your general shopping, to see what you can find, and then supplement from the traditional grocery store. Also, check the expiration dates! I have only once found an expired product, and it was a popsicle item. However, many times they may be sooner rather than later, so depending on your usage patterns, consider that. Lastly, they always tell you how much you saved by shopping there, and then you can enter a drawing to win that much - I think they draw twice a month. read more

Years ago this used to be a great place to shop to save money but not anymore. I have a fairly large family and we are always trying to stretch our budget so I have a great memory when it comes to comparison shopping. Very rarely can I find anything here that is priced less than other stores, I can usually find better prices at Winco and Walmart and others. For the most part Grocery Outlet seems to price their items at about the same or slightly higher than other stores, and many of these items are at or near the expire date. Every now and then there will be a sort of good deal on something that is past the due date, but it's just not worth the time for me to hunt for those so I very rarely shop here anymore. read more

This review is for the new store on W. 3rd in downtown Spokane. This morning I went for my first big shopping experience. Second time in the store though. They don't have a huge selection of food, they do have some variety. This is not a full size store, but more of a neighborhood size. I found alot of quality in the items I purchased. Produce looked good, and the prices were great. Chechout the prices on vitamins and glucosamine/chondroitin. Really good!!! Employees were friendly, helpful. Bottom line, I saved quite a bit. I love having this so close to where I live downtown, and that they are giving Rosauers some competetion. I will be back!! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I worked here for two weeks and on my first day alone I noticed how disgusting, and unorganized this store is. As somebody who was in charge of arranging products on shelves I can not tell you how many bags of food I saw that were opened and half eaten and put back, or bottles, and juice boxes that were open, and drank out of and put back. This unsanitary and repulsive highlight and these actions which are committed by the lazy employees are a direct reflection of the store owner Lisa. Lisa simply does not look like she wants to be doing her job. She is often exhausted, and too winded to even answer customer complaints. With her employees she is flighty, and gives many different answers for how to do your job. She seems tired. She is short with customer complaints, and sarcastically answers the phone when they bring up things like rotting fruit, and expired goods. To put icing on the cake, I was the only Black person working here in 2019, and I am half sure I only got hired because I am lighter skinned and somewhat ambiguous looking. Nevertheless the staff here with the exception of a few people made it their mission to make me feel like an outcast, and a poor employee for actually working instead of standing in the back and eating food, and only looking "busy" when the store owners walk by. The lies, drama, and gossip surrounding this store is what makes it crack at the seams. Better management, and an owner that doesn't look like she loathes everyday working would fix this problem. Employees who are not lazy, and bigoted, and actually do their whole job instead of doing half their job and eating food in the back, and leaving half eaten products on shelves would fix this problem. Do NOT shop here, do NOT give this business your money. There are many bargain grocery stores in Spokane that come with a significantly healthier and respectful attitude towards employees and customers. read more

the worst out of all the grocery outlets in area. management not very friendly, prices listed at different levels for same item...one person says item is in stock and then other says it is not.....many items way more than safeway like half and half, milk, veggies, bannanas are almost 70 cents a pound.... read more

The selection is very limited, which I expect for a discount market. The employees are courteous and as helpful as in any 'real' grocery store. However, the bread is always stale, although not past the sell-by date. My roommate insists on buying flats of eggs there and at LEAST four of twenty eggs are bloody. Every time, no exaggeration. She thinks it's worth it; I do not. If you are in survival mode, you can save some money here, if you eat the bloody eggs. Otherwise, you are paying 25% more than you thought for eggs. read more
