This store was great when it first opened. It has gone steadily downhill. The prices are not outlet prices and often items are more expensive than regular supermarket items. There are never enough cashiers and the check-out is very slow. Expect to spend at least 15 minutes in line during regular hours, even more when it is a busy time. There are no employees in the store to help you out, just the one overworked cashier, and on rare occasions, two cashiers The store is not very clean, and they won't let you use the restroom until after you buy something. I had to change a baby and had to make him wait, check out, and then use the restroom. I am done with this store. There are at least 5 other grocery stores in Highland Park and I don't expect this one to stay open for much longer. read more

I stopped by this place to get an energy drink because I was falling asleep on the road. I was looking for a Yerba Matte, which I picked up a few in the past. A staff told me that they have not been getting Yerba Matte since a while back. While deciding another energy drink option, I asked to borrow their bathroom. The staff asked me to speak with the cashier. I went to the cashier. The cashier was a bit rude and dismissive without giving me eye contact, and told me "you have to buy something." I asked if I can use the bathroom first and come get an energy drink. He insisted, "you have to buy something first!" Nature called is more important than an energy drink, so I just left. I used to love coming and grabbing my salads and yogurt every week for work during the week before my job location changed. The African American cashier was the sweetest and I looked forward to seeing her every week. However, the current female cashier at closing lacks customer service skills. I experienced her rudeness last week and again tonight. She has a huge attitude and sighs heavily if a bag is needed. HORRIBLE VIBES. She does not bag the customers groceries either. Quality has gone down at this location. Previous cashiers would bag customer's groceries and were friendly. I understand it's late and maybe a long day, I'm up around 5am everyday, I get it, but when one is paid to do a job that is supposed provide customer service and support, it's exactly what one should do. Many of us just run in to grab what we need and leave as quickly as possible. There is no need to act like customers are a burden and a bother. Honestly, I should have bought my items at Food4Less instead. I was literally in their parking lot before changing my mind to give Grocery Outlet another try. I might pay a couple dollars more at Food4Less or Superior but at least they're friendly and don't make you feel like an inconvenience for quickly grabbing items. read more

They have Ample parking. It is a well laid out STORE. It's clean, bright and organized with a friendly and professional staff. They have a nice selection and offer great value. Unfortunately, it is marred by the homeless people. Three out of the six times I was shopping, The staff was forced to engage with a homeless person stealing and making a scene. Additionally, it is difficult to find a shopping cart due to the homeless situation. Three of the last six times I've been there no shopping cart was available. read more

A couple of friends had been raving about Grocery Outlet, so I decided to check it out. Overall, decidedly underwhelmed due to the high prices and poor selection. The prices did not seem that much lower than a typical grocery store, and were more expensive than your typical discount store. I didn't find any super deals at all and selection was minimal. I have never. We are all humans. If there is a working toilet in your establishment, please let someone relieve themselves. I was told the only operable toilet in the store was for employees only. It's an OUTLET so expect variation in product and staff. (probably minimum wage) This is the one I go past most frequently so will drop in just to see if there are any deals. Of all the GOs this generally the bottom of: variety of stock, checking for expiration dates, prices posted, and/or posted correctly. TIP if looking for non-food items check the dollar store around the corner. Same or similar items often cheaper. Re: bathroom comments, a reflection of the neigborhood. Prior businesses in the same building ended up having similar policies. The manager would be smart to make a better policy and train employees to recognize legitimate/paying customers. read more

I shop at several GO locations in the city. Each one is slightly different so some variation is expected. Some outlets specialize in stocking gluten-free food. Highland Park specializes in being the worst of the worst. While wondering the aisles, its just like reliving the pandemic due to the lack of product on the shelves. Entire sections are empty and the stocked sections have little variety. The meat section is okay. You can find a good deal on meat that is nearing its pull date since they mark it down heavily to move. The problem though is that the check out people just ignore the mark downs so you end up paying full price. And then there's the lack of shopping carts. Do not go to this store expecting to buy a large order unless you like juggling multiple hand baskets. I counted three shopping carts for the entire store. Three! If you like doing your shopping in a large glorified gas station convenience store then this might be the store for you. Otherwise, give it a wide pass. read more

Grocery Outlet is supposed to be discounted grocery items. They do this by getting overstock inventory from other places and other means. It used to be great when it first opened. There used to be a lot of great products and you would pay half as much as a other grocery store. That is no longer the case. In practice it seems they are doing two things. First, they get products nobody wanted from whole foods type places. And because those products were so expensive to begin with, even with the discount it is still more expensive than what you would have paid for your regular products at your regular grocery store. Second, they get really cheap poor quality products. If I had to give it grades, they would be as follows: Fresh fruits/veggies selection and quality: D+ Sweets, Cookies, Ice Cream etc. at a good price: A+ Cereals at a good price: A+ Common products like bread, ketchup, pasta, oil: C Beer, wine, alcohol at fair prices: B Lunch meats and cheeses: C Meats: C I save more money going to Trader Joes and find exactly what I want. For anything sweet related, though, Grocery Outlet is great. For a fun little excursion to explore products you never knew about it is also decent. But for regular grocery shopping, to get products you need throughout the week and a good price, this is probably not the place. read more

I didn't expect to find a Grocery Outlet in Highland Park! This location is just like any other Grocery Outlet. The price tags show how much you're saving. Deals are pretty good! Surprisingly, this location is very clean. Also, the parking lot is plentiful. They have hand sanitizer at the entrance as well as inside by the produce. Masks are required to enter. There's a restroom in the back for customers only. You need to ask an employee to let you in. At night and on weekends, there are taco stands around the area. read more

I love it here ! Always some good finds.! From the fresh whole chickens to the delicious Korean bbq marinate , there's always something great finds ! I come here regularly for the chicken and brisket and occasionally the salmon and paper towels. If you have a pet, they have the cutest seasonal clothes for pets too! Parking is easy to get in and out of, and there's always friendly staff to help you find what you're looking for. The place stays fully stocked, and the restroom is always clean! This place was horrible! Really dirty and horrible attitudes everywhere. Claims to be neighborhood store and family run but you can't even use the restrooms. When I saw they were closed I swore to myself as I was about to wet myself. An employee decided to scold me for swearing at them. When I apologized and said I didn't even see you they swore at me and got really aggressive with me. The cashier was also very rude and just seemed to be angry. I was very excited when Grocery Outlet opened up in my neighborhood. They don't carry all the top name brands, but you can still find a majority of the staples you need at prices that are cheaper than major chain grocery stores. Plus, you can also discover new items that you may have not known about. They also have a wide selection of Vegan/Vegetarian/Organic foods in addition to a variety of beer, wine, & spirits that are priced lower than most other places. I come here for certain essentials and to check out their weekly specials. The store is always clean and well organized. The employees always say "hello." I do have to say that one stands out among them all - Erica. Erica is fantastic! She's friendly, polite, and incredibly helpful. I purchased a plant as a gift for a friend. She asked if I wanted her to water it for me because sometimes the plants don't get watered enough. I said, "ok" and she did. Wow! That is great customer service. Tip: Plenty of parking in the lot. Overall clean place to shop. Hit or miss on good deals. I like the beauty products section. Plenty of free parking. Cons: it is like playing the guessing game when it comes to shopping, and it happens everytime I have come here. Went today and found at least 5 items without pricing. It's annoying to have to scan each item while holding up the line just for a price check. Maybe put in a price check machine if you aren't going to have your staff walk the aisles to label your merchandise. Also, when I informed the cashier of this, she didn't seem to care. Terrible place to shop. I'm a mama and carry a backpack because of diapers, bottles and all the other baby stuff. I've been shopping here for over a year and today the manager decided to pull what little power she had to say she "couldn't service me" if I don't leave my bag up front. When I said I've been coming to this store and even with a security guard there and have never been asked to leave my backpack at the front before there was no clear response. As other reviews also complain, this backpack issue is not an effective policy, purses and other bags can be just as effective in terms of shoplifting. My sister told me there is a new grocery outlet in Highland park. So we drove there on a Saturday afternoon in late December. The store is very clean and well stocked. It is like any other Grocery outlet. Then I noticed bacon sake for .97 cents. Yes it is so cheap that I bought four. Then they have potato salad or macaroni salad in a big container for $2 but I didn't buy it. I guess it was near expiration date. Overall this store has the better deals. I popped in to the store today to purchase some water and was wearing a small backpack. Security told me I had to take it off and leave it on top of an unattended cash register at the front of the store. If this store is having such security issues that they can't allow customers to wear bags inside, why on earth would I leave my bag in an unsecured, unprotected area where literally anyone could take it? If this store wants to stop customers from bringing backpacks in, they need to offer a secure bag check. Just had the most disgusting experience at the Highland Park location. I was waiting to use the restroom for a long time, when I heard someone inside repeatedly throwing up, turned out to be an employee who was belligerent and aggressive towards me when I asked for the restroom to be cleaned. He was obviously intoxicated and or sick. After asking for help, the manager treated me with such disrespect, she had the audacity to tell me that throwing-up is not a sign of sickness. This is happening during a pandemic!!! I'm appalled and definitely reporting this to the health department. Shame on them! By the way, there were other people waiting for the restroom as well, we were told that the restrooms were closed to the public after this incident. My local grocery store is just the right size- not too big and not too small . Clean, well-lit and organized -Great for all your grocery essentials . If you like organic and health-conscious foods , there are lots of good choices at a fair price. I used to really like the bargains here, but they are few and far between now. The prices continue to go up every week, and the selection is unpredictable and random. It is frustrating for me to find SO many items without prices, and there is usually only one cashier open, making for long wait times. Had a horrible experience, first time at this store, walked in and happened to ask the manager named Sonia if I could use their restroom before I do my grocery shopping and her first response is that she needed to see a purchase receipt in order for me to use it. I felt very disappointed with her response, they should not have this kind of restriction for customers, nobody should have to go trough this type of mistreatment and disrespect. Friendly staff and a parking lot outside and walkable to bus stops too. Very organized and clean. Chill and not too busy so not a lot of customers in line but also not a lot of cashiers. Alcohol beverages are a bit cheaper than some of the supermarkets around the area but not as many selections. read more

I enjoyed grocery outlet! It is on the smaller side so if you need something quick. Perfect place to go. I love the hand sanitizer next to their meat section! Why don't other stores do this?! Sometimes the meat juice leaks on the packs and this sanitizer really helps ease my mind. I do wish they had an actual deli for meats and seafood. Their meat packs are on the smaller side and I wish I was able to get fresh fish and shrimp rather than buying them in bags. But that is my personal preference. I literally go every single day as so does my family, she was just so rude to me it was totally uncalled for i wasn't even talking to her and she cut me off and starting telling me she works there everyday that she dont care if i go everyday , straight out f@*%king rude !!!
