Bought this pomegranate yesterday. Lighting isn't optimal but it's rotten and moldy throughout. Boo.

Not sure why this kinda stuff happens to me, but attempted to buy some flaming hot Cheetos (which they were out of and I had to get 'xxtra' flaming hots which are nearly inedible), paid $5.50 for a $1.49 bag and got one cent change. I told her I had given her a five and she said, no I had given her $2.50 (which makes no sense either). After a minor stink and mumble, she gave me my $4. Lesson: count your change; stand your guard: justice will prevail. however, on other instances, the market held fresh, reasonably-priced produce, and this one other time when i was scrambling to get the $10 minimum to use my credit card, the cashier took some pity on me and said that my $8.65 was ok, but wanting to be fair, i threw on another $2 bottle of mexican cola. so, they'are all right, or a-ok as yelp would say.

    Cute free bag.

They gave us the cutest reusable bag! Bring new to California, this means plenty. You can't shop anywhere in the Glendale area without a bag and guess what? We didn't have one. Guess what else? We didn't pay for it. For some authentic Armenian breads, pastries, candies and more, stop by this little neighborhood store. There are lots of reasonably priced fruits and vegetables as well as Horozon Organic Milk for under $5.00. I get mine at Target and I don't think it's been under $5.00 in the past year. I only bought a couple of things because everything looked so good that I'd definitely gorge myself tonight. I'll break myself in slowly one treat at a time and come back soon.

    The produce is excellent.

I don't get any of the negative reviews I've read. I've lived in LA for 30 yrs; driven past this market plenty of times. I've recently moved within blocks from it. so have started walking there. This is the most wonderful little store I've been to. Bar none. I didn't think markets like this existed in the states. What a gem. It's so tiny, but they carry such a vast and high quality variety of items, its remarkable how fully stocked they, organized, helpful. It's a small town neighborhood market. Not a super market. And THERE lies the charm. It's not Ralph's. It's not supposed to be. I have 3 kids & haven't been to TJ's since I started shopping there. Not once. THAT is saying a lot.

Made with quality flour and baked fresh hourly, they are usually served hot from the oven, and I can't resist eating 1/4 of it before I get home. The fresh cut flowers and plants welcome you into this Armenian market, with tall, vibrant roses unlike those found at most florists. Big Square also offers a solid selection of produce, meats, pastres, alcohol, and other goods. Specialty items like Armenian coffee, unique condiments, and hard to find deli products are always available. For meat products, they have frozen quail, which is usually difficult to find... however, I have never been a fan of their other meat items. The one time I purchased shank and liver, it wasn't as fresh and of quality I anticipated. Parking can at times be difficult and drivers are a bit aggressive. They bring a vibrant mix of Armenian, Iranian, and Mediterranean flavors under one roof. Every time I visit, it feels like a little taste of home especially the candy section. It instantly reminds me of my grandma's treats, just nostalgic and delightful! Their meat section is also a standout; the mortadella cold cut and sausages are exceptional so professional and rich in flavor, it's a must-try. Beyond that, they have a wonderful array of Persian snacks, cookies, and a wide selection of fresh produce. I'm always so happy shopping here; it's clean, well-stocked, and the staff are super friendly. There are always plenty of employees, so it never feels chaotic. The only small downside is that some of the refrigerated foods are a little pricey, but considering the quality, it's a fair trade-off. Plus, you can order hot foods to go! they grill up delicious meats right on site. Parking is at the back, which is super convenient, even if the front lot is a bit tight. The level of care and customer service back then was completely different. Recently, I had a very disappointing experience with the current manager, Lilit. I returned chicken that was clearly uncooked--not for a refund, but simply to make them aware so it wouldn't happen again. Instead of handling it professionally, she became defensive, raised her voice, and insisted the chicken was cooked, essentially accusing me of lying. As a long-time loyal customer, that was very upsetting. I was respectful, but the way I was treated was rude and dismissive. This is not the kind of service Golden Market used to be known for. Because of this experience, I highly discourage anyone from going there. I will not be returning, and I will not recommend it to my family or friends. I truly hope management takes this seriously and brings back the level of respect and customer care that Soorik and Ofelia once provided. Btw I Think she needs to know that she is just a manager at local grocery store and she is super uneducated and low class.
