The staff is really unwelcoming and rude ): I was trying to pick out a juice and the people in there working made me feel like I was in the way. Not sure why they could not wait to restock for a minute while I pick something to get, I felt so uncomfortable I just left. The broccoli they were selling was brown also. Not sure why this kinda stuff happens to me, but attempted to buy some flaming hot Cheetos (which they were out of and I had to get 'xxtra' flaming hots which are nearly inedible), paid $5.50 for a $1.49 bag and got one cent change. I told her I had given her a five and she said, no I had given her $2.50 (which makes no sense either). After a minor stink and mumble, she gave me my $4. Lesson: count your change; stand your guard: justice will prevail. however, on other instances, the market held fresh, reasonably-priced produce, and this one other time when i was scrambling to get the $10 minimum to use my credit card, the cashier took some pity on me and said that my $8.65 was ok, but wanting to be fair, i threw on another $2 bottle of mexican cola. so, they'are all right, or a-ok as yelp would say. read more

They gave us the cutest reusable bag! Bring new to California, this means plenty. You can't shop anywhere in the Glendale area without a bag and guess what? We didn't have one. Guess what else? We didn't pay for it. For some authentic Armenian breads, pastries, candies and more, stop by this little neighborhood store. There are lots of reasonably priced fruits and vegetables as well as Horozon Organic Milk for under $5.00. I get mine at Target and I don't think it's been under $5.00 in the past year. I only bought a couple of things because everything looked so good that I'd definitely gorge myself tonight. I'll break myself in slowly one treat at a time and come back soon. read more

I've gone there for years for very reasonably-priced produce and bread.

I don't get any of the negative reviews I've read. I've lived in LA for 30 yrs; driven past this market plenty of times. I've recently moved within blocks from it. so have started walking there. This is the most wonderful little store I've been to. Bar none. I didn't think markets like this existed in the states. What a gem. It's so tiny, but they carry such a vast and high quality variety of items, its remarkable how fully stocked they, organized, helpful. It's a small town neighborhood market. Not a super market. And THERE lies the charm. It's not Ralph's. It's not supposed to be. I have 3 kids & haven't been to TJ's since I started shopping there. Not once. THAT is saying a lot. read more

This place is convenient if you live right near it like me but I decided I'm not giving this place my business anymore. I'm heading half a mile down the road to Ralph's from now on. The employees are extremely rude and unfriendly. I don't need to get into a conversation every time I go shopping, but they barely even acknowledge you here. They basically just mumble and grunt. How about a greeting or a smile? Jeez! Anyways, I was able to get past that, but they seem to make up random prices on the spot for some items and just give you whatever they feel like giving back for change. I bought a banana, he put it on the scale and just said "$1". Yeah, I'm sure that weighed out to exactly $1 worth. Pretty sure it was like 20 cents and you rounded up to $1. Don't care much about the 80 cents but it's the principle. Bottom line: they're unfriendly, dishonest, and I don't like giving my business to people like that. read more

This place is awesome! Quaint, yet stocked! They have pretty much everything you would need in a pinch, like cereal and cigarettes. But it is so much more than that! There is a mini produce section with local fruit and vegetables. They have a large variety of jarred pickles and sweets, too! Seriously, whether you need an energy drink or rose water syrup, some orange blossom honey or budweiswer.....this is the local shop to stop in! This place is a truly wonderful asset to the residential neighborhood in which it it located. The family who runs it is kind and helpful. Having just moved into the neighborhood a couple of days ago, I was looking for a place to buy fresh Cilantro within walking distance. Thanks to yelp I found this business, scooted over, and YES!! they had Cilantro. However there was only one bunch left in the produce section, and it was slightly on the yellow side. Well, when i took it to the counter, the lady (after confirming that I did indeed want Cilantro) said that they have more in the back and she switched the bunch out for a much greener one. (And it turned out to be quite fresh indeed, as the aroma filled our apartment just minutes later :-D ) I looked through the whole store and there's a lot more stuff in there than one might expect looking from the outside based on the small size... (perhaps it's a TARDIS?) so I expect I'll be scooting over here a lot, especially when Amazon Fresh doesn't have what I need :-) I can see why some people might think they are not friendly there, but those people are misreading the situation. They are indeed very economical with words and pleasantries, but they seem to genuinely care about getting good products to their customers. read more

I just move to Glendale. A nice, clean and quiet city. But when I needed to buy 2 small cokes and 2 small juices, I went to this mini-market and had the surprise of my life!!! The cashier was SO SO RUDE!!! I asked him where I can find these drinks and without eye contact and a terrible tone told me: "back there!!! Like I came to bother him. I told him I needed to use my debit card because I had no cash. He said I had to spend $10.00 for using my debit. I told him: "Ok. I'll buy something else. Surprisingly he said: "Don't worry". When I got home and saw my receipt, I realized he charged me $8.00 instead of $6.00. It's too bad that horrible place is the only one around my house at a walking distance. This small market is down the street from where I live. I like this place because if i need something really quick I can just go here and buy something. I dont recommend this place for everyday shoppers because it is really really small inside, and the prices are somewhat expensive for what you want to buy, but if you are around the corner and want to get something really quick then this place is good for that. read more

this place does the job when you only need a few items and don't want to make the trek to the large supermarkets. for being a very small market they do have a decent assortment of veggies and middle eastern/Armenian food items. Everything is more expensive but may be worth the convenience. I stopped coming here after I kept getting charged different prices for a 2liter of coke depending on who was at the register. They seemed to be making it up on the spot sometimes. buyer beware. read more

They rob you openly. The male cashier would smile at you as if he is polite, but I found out at home, that he overcharged me about $4. I am writing "about" because he didn't give me a receipt. And that is a habit for him. Once I ASKED for a receipt, he rudely gave me it, which I looked at at home, and saw nothing clear written there. This review is strictly for the HORRIBLE customer service. Walked in to buy two items that came out to more than the amount of cash I had so, I attempted to purchase the items with my card and was told I would have to purchase more ($10 worth of stuff just because I didn't have 98 CENTS more!). This is just ridiculous and only proves that they only care about getting their money in any way possible. The woman also attempted to hold on to my cash when I decided I needed to pay with my card and thought I was weird to ask for it back...... I do not even know what to say to that! I will NOT be coming back here to shop ever again nor will I allow my friends and family to do the same. In the meantime, I hope that woman learns her lesson and realizes she can get more flies with honey than she can with vinegar. read more
