First off I was so nerves about dropping my new baby miniature poodle Queen Mag but let me tell you Leslie took great care of her and she looked so amazing. My baby was so safe and comfortable here with her fabulous groomer she fell right to sleep. I love this place for her and they are all awesome here. They know what they are doing professionally and they also can answer questions about daily care for your babies like they did for me. Plus omg the prices you just can't beat them either. My Dane is 8 months old, he went to day care for the day and I dropped him off at 8:42a. At 9:30, he ejaculated on a staff members leg, but my question is.... Before ejaculation you have foreplay, so how did it get to this level ? Was my dog not being watched ? All I heard was excuses and that 3 staff were watching..... I didn't get a call, they put him in the basement where they board dogs in a 6x6 and they made sure to tell me with water and a blanket. I picked him up at 5:30pm to find all of this out. Turns out they made an error when I bought him months before and put my number down wrong. I wasn't pleased how this was handled and when I spoke to the owner it made me realize that she wasn't offering solutions on how to fix the matter. Groom and Board will never succeed if they can't get better communication to their customers.. for example.. when a customer comes in, verify information.......... I was told that after 6 months he needs to be neutered, I didn't realize that when I bought no Back. I feel that when your making the appointments they should say "hey we see he is 8 months old and needs to be neutered, we can't have him here until that's been completed". If I had known that I would of not brought him that day. I get reminders from my vet about services, etc. perhaps update your systems to prompt these questions when making the reservation or do a file update. I was just told that I signed an agreement when I came for The first time a year ago and I should realize that... At the end of the conversation with the owner, she felt it's not a good idea for my dog to come back and I said I agree. I write a lot of reviews, honest reviews and I can't recommend this place unfortunately. When the owner of the business says asking questions and expressing your concerns is verbally abusive, wow. I was SO nervous about bringing my dog here - he's around 10, very cranky, and we just got him less than a year ago so we haven't taken him to get a summer cut yet. Due to moving and some adventures he was so scraggly and matted, I was almost embarrassed. We were so stressed about it and so worried that we'd pick him up and Courtney would be bleeding. He looks cute as hell, and as she said, difficult dogs are her thing! This dog has tried to bite every single one of my friends, and is usually successful. Grooming review** i was quoted over the phone $80-100 for my doodle. "Prices start at $80 but usually don't run more than $100". Not only did the grooming by Katie take 5 hours instead of the 2.5/3 that was discussed (she claims due to him having anxiety... at previous groomers going at 2.5-3 hours helped his anxiety versus five...) but it ended up costing me $140. Also, the woman working wore a shirt that said "not tipping is wage theft", as if I didn't pay almost double the original estimate. For insight, my dog is 40 pounds, anxious at the groomer, and did not have any matting besides his tail needing to be trimmed. Definitely would not return due to the inconsistency in pricing and time. read more

Very friendly staff. The reason for the lack of stars is based on having tried out several other doggy daycares in this neighborhood and judging A) what I see from the tour, and B) how my dog behaves when she comes home. The price is about the same here as other places however no other place charges $32 for a "behavior assessment". But ok. On A) unfortunately when I was there two of the very tiny dogs were able to crawl under the play area fence and head to the wait area. I did not like that. On B) my puppy came back w/zoomies rather than just being tired. So, for me the ROI wasn't there. I was told that there were crates but as they are in the play room, not sure my dog could relax there between playing for a full day. read more

So we've been using Courtney as our primary groomer for years. When we heard she was opening her own place, we couldn't have been more excited for her. She's a fantastic groomer, and truly cares for all the animals she deals with. Our dogs always come out with fantastic haircuts, and Courtney is very diligent about listening to our requests or taking any injuries into consideration. This is particularly important for us because one of our dogs is prone to neck and shoulder strains so her extra care goes a long way in ensuring he isn't stiff the next day. And if anything is off (which is a rarity), she always explains it (eg. his paw was bugging him so he's a bit longer on that spot bc I didn't want to hurt him) or fixes it upon request. Long story short, she's a phenomenal groomer. And while our dogs aren't the doggy daycare type, I regularly see her staff walking the daycare dogs through the neighborhood, and everyone is super professional and knowledgeable when we interact with them. Could not recommend this place more highly. read more

Boarded our doggo Horus there for a week. The crew at Groom and Board does a great job with their social media so we were able to see videos of Horus while we were away on vacation. We also booked him for a bath and a nail trim and we don't think he's ever been so clean before! Additionally, they were very understanding with my "new dog owner neurosis" and constant "how's he doing" DMs! All I can say is WOW..... I took my Annie (yorkie) here to he groomed. To say I was impressed was an understatement. My fur baby is 11+ but they addressed all of her needs. I was extremely satisfied with Courtney's expertise. She had worked on my girl at another grooming facility so it was comforting to know my baby was in good hands. I brought my long haired blue merle chihuahua there who has a very unique coat and am always nervous for him to get cuts. I brought my St. Bernard to be groomed, he was way overdue. I have some specifics on what I want cut/trimmed. He came back sooooo incredibly soft! He isn't shedding which is a miracle! Courtney paid attention to all my special requests. She did a great job on his feet and toes. This is the best he has ever been groomed. I will definitely be bringing him back on the regular. DO NOT MAKE GROOMING APPOINTMENTS WITH THIS GROOM AND BOARD LOCATION!!! We made an appointment A MONTH IN ADVANCE for our dog to be groomed and when we arrived they acted as if they had no idea there was an appointment. WE EVEN SHOWED THEM THE EMAIL VERIFICATION!!!!!! They offered no discount, denied service, and said they could only squeeze in 10 minutes ???! 10 minutes to do what? A thorough dog grooming takes far longer than 10 minutes. Please do not ever make appointments with them. They are a poor excuse for a business. I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than go to this place!!! read more

Today my Ozzie visited Groom and Board for the first time for a grooming with Courtney. A little background on him is that he is a very fearful dog. Usually when I take him to the groomer he shakes uncontrollably when we walk in the door and when I pick him up he is so stressed and relieved to see me that he will tinkle all over me and the floor. I cry every time I have to drop him off. When we get home from the groomer he usually is not his playful self and wants to be held all day and because he was so stressed he sleeps a lot. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED TODAY!!!!! When I dropped him off he didn't shake. He was still apprehensive but Courtney listened to me when I said he probably would do better if she didn't take him directly from my arms. She let me put him down and walk away. When I picked him up he came out happy to see me but not stressed or nervous and he DID NOT TINKLE ON ME!!!! When we got home he was so happy and smiling and playful. He is only asleep now because I stopped throwing his toy to write this review. I am so happy and relieved. I finally have found a groomer I can feel confident taking him to. He was there for less then 2 hours for his grooming which is another huge difference from other places we have gone. Thank you Courtney! You have made this dog momma very happy!!!! This establishment is racist. After boarding my dog there my partner and I wanted to see the facility to see what kind of conditions my dog was staying in. They claimed they were too busy so we dropped the dog off and left. My partner picked up our dog 2 days later and asked again to see the facility. He told me they told him no again, which we thought was a little weird. A few weeks later we tried to book with them again but they had left a note in our record saying my African American male partner was "aggressive" and when I asked how they said the woman working was scared for her safety when he asked to see the facility and that she thought he was going to take her downstairs and hurt her. If this was a white man, there would be no hesitation. The note definitely would not have claimed "aggressive" instead words like "short, rude or insistent" Could have been used. Why would someone who is paying to board their dog have any reason to be violent or aggressive when asking to see the conditions in which their dog is staying. The word choice is absolutely inappropriate and my partner deserves an apology for the stereotyping. read more

I was going to the PetSmart on Oregon Ave. because it was the cheapest place near but this place has very similar prices and you're supporting local. I've had my dog for 5 years and this by far has been his best haircut. I can't tell you how good it feels to walk over to drop and pick him up instead of having to get into my car and drive. This shop is an amazing addition to the neighborhood. His haircut is Courtney is so kind and is just good at what she does. I was walking my dog over to get groomed and noticed that his poop bag dispenser was empty and before you judge me, I grabbed a grocery bag before leaving the house, just in case. Can I give 10 stars? After moving last year I was desperate and nervous about finding a new groomer for our very finicky dog. Courtney and her staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The location is convenient with lots of street parking available. The facilities are bright, welcoming and utterly spotless. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by one of the girls running the doggie daycare (I didn't catch her name but she was very sweet and my mean little dog loved her!) They confirmed the services we wanted without any of the annoying corporate up-selling b.s. and said they'd text us as soon as the dog was ready to be picked up. Service was prompt and thorough. Courtney did an amazing job grooming my dog who came out tail wagging and puppy-soft. For the location and high level of service the pricing is more than reasonable. I asked that the hair be cut close to the skin but left too much hair. Didn't clean paws, didn't cut nails, didn't shave behind, and when I asked that they clean paws, told me it cost $10 more. I paid for full grooming $80.73. I did not like the service and it was too expensive for incomplete grooming. read more

This review is in regards to grooming. I was in search of a new place when I wasn't happy with the almost 4 hours it took (and the price increase from a 5 month old puppy to a 6 month old puppy) at my old groomer. I live in Fairmount, so this was a bit of a hike, but well worth it. My mini poodle was done in just about 2.5 hours and looked great! Price was reasonable and I also was able to make an appointment within the week. It was also convenient that you could tip on your card rather than need cash. Will definitely be back! read more

Very happy with Groom & Board! Courtney has been grooming my 2 dogs for close to 6 years. One is a shit tsu and I previously had a rottie. Not easy dogs to groom! Everytime my dogs came back from an appointment, they looked great! I don't even have to ask Courtney how to groom Chewy - she knows exactly what to do and he loves her! The attention he gets is above an beyond and I'm thrilled I found her all those years back. She recently found a lump on his ear that I missed and she showed it to me, thankfully not cancerous! Now that she has her own business with a beautiful, clean space to take care of all kinds pups I can see why people are comfortable grooming and boarding their dogs there. We've sent our new puppy to Groom & Board for daycare every work day for the past week+ and she absolutely loves it. After two days going, SHE walked ME there and could not stop wiggling with excitement once we arrived. Courtney and her team are professional animal lovers and totally accommodating of my young (vaccinated, spayed) pup and her additional puppy-related needs (not being housebroken yet, eating all the things, etc.). Our dog has fit in seamlessly at this daycare and we know she is getting the care and socialization she needs while my husband and I are at work. Our dog has made friends and we love seeing pictures of her during the day on the Groom & Board Instagram page! It wasn't easy for us to leave a new puppy at daycare but we know our dog is in excellent hands.
