I was thrown for a loop when my pet sitter of 15 years moved to North Carolina. Thank God for ZDog and their willingness to include felines in their care. I've used them three times so far for trips out of town. They're meticulous in adhering to the owner's instructions. My cat is getting to know Jose, and has been coming out of her shell a bit during his visits. He'll occasionally snap a photo and send it, which reassures me that all is well. We absolutely loved Z dog daycare when we lived in grad hospital. One of the worst parts of moving o it of the city was losing access to Jose and Natalie. They loved our dog Fred (a golden retriever) as much as we did and Fred loved them right back. They do pick up and drop off which is a godsend when you have to go to work at 730 in the morning. They made sure that Fred got the attention he needed. He was such a good boy when he got home from daycare because he was so tired. They do a good job screening dogs to make sure they get along. They are a wonderful family run business and we miss them constantly. At z dog, she gets to be inside and outside depending on the weather. And even when she's forced inside, the room is spacious so the dogs don't feel cramped. The outside area is huge, with lot of space to roam. Our dog has significant noise anxiety issues, so they even let her go into their office during storms so she can crawl under the desk. My dog is picky and full of attitude. We also always want her to have outside time so she doesn't learn to pee inside. Z Dog offers outside time and a very clean facility. On top of this, they are fantastic with security. The place met my qualifications, but what about what my dog thinks? She has had four daycare stays and four overnights and she always comes home tired and happy. We can tell when she is unhappy with a place because she won't play with us or love on us. She does both of these when she gets home from Z Dog. Score! The people are nice too but, honestly, it's about what my dog thinks. Our dog has been going to Z Dog for a few weeks now and we could not be more pleased with Natalie, Jose and the facility/location. We have put our giant pup in other day cares around the city but none of them compare. Mainly, we love that crate time is not forced upon them. Shar Pei's and Shar Pei mixes can be very temperamental and hard to deal with-- they have broken through with Oliver and worked out great!! They have been walking and taking him to the dog parks while I was away all day on business travel, and when I called for a last minute Sunday night trip which I had to go away for- they picked up Oliver and were able to take him last minute without any problems. I love how they text and email pictures through out the day of Olivers activities- gives me reassurance that he is in good hands. Oliver always comes back happy, and tired-- so I know he has played all day! My doormen even have told me how happy Oliver is when they walk him out of my building. Let me start by saying that I like small businesses - especially when they are family-owned and operated. My hope is that I can modify or remove this review when the owners do, in fact, follow up with me. Long story short, this review is about communication. When you are putting your dog in the hands of another person, the most important things you care about are trust and honesty. I do not feel as though Z Dog's owners instilled either of those in me when they watched my dog. Granted, our interaction was brief, but all the more reason that these two are important traits in a small business. I was put in a difficult position when Hurricane Ida hit Philadelphia last week. I had two weddings over the long Labor Day weekend, so when my boarding facility flooded, I was left with very few options in Philadelphia for dog care. I called around and Z Dog sounded like a great option - they were willing to see me that day for a trial and, if all went well, I could leave my dog there Saturday morning through Wednesday evening. When my husband arrived to the facility, Natalie showed him and my dog around and Natalie said she saw no reason why this wouldn't work out. She asked that we leave our dog there for a few more hours to see how he interacted with the other dogs, so my husband left feeling optimistic. 1.5 hours into the 4 hour trial, we received a very cryptic email that they didn't feel as if their facility was the right place for our dog to be boarded and that we should find alternate arrangements for that weekend. This would have been fine if we heard the full story from them when we showed up. Unfortunately, when my husband returned, Jose quickly handed over the leash to my husband and said to email Natalie for more information. He gave 0 details to my husband about why they proceeded in the fashion they did. They knew that we were in a pickle, so it would have been appreciated if they could have given some background on what happened. As requested, my husband sent Natalie a note that evening - Friday. Granted, it was a holiday weekend, but it has been SIX DAYS and she still has not sent us a note explaining what happened. I tried calling two yesterday (Wednesday) knowing it might have been a busy weekend, but no response. To make matters even worse, they charged us $75 for 4 hours of dog care - $40 for the day care (fine, this is understandable), but then $25 for the "orientation" which apparently was a 5 minute tour and then a $10 charge for Labor Day (this was on Friday early afternoon). $75 for dog care when you don't end up taking my dog and then you can't respond with a simple note on what happened is incredibly disappointing. Again, I trust that Natalie and Jose are doing the best they can, but how can I trust that something bad didn't happen when they can't even let me know why they couldn't take him? Everything seemed fine when my husband left, so it would be appreciated if they could explain why the situation changed so suddenly. A simple email or some type of communication could leave me feeling much more confident in their ability to provide good dog care to your beloved pet. Proceed with caution... read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Z Dog Walkers. Natalie and Jose are simply incredible with my dog, Julie, and they are always willing to help out in a pinch. Although I try my best to plan in advance for dog walks, daycare, and out of town trips, there are times when I have to book last minute. Natalie and Jose have always accommodated me and have never made me feel like I am putting them out. I know they enjoy spending time with Julie as much as she enjoys spending time with them. All of that being said, although we can never really know what our dogs think, I get a good sense from Julie that she is happy with the care provided by Z. When I get home late at night she is happy to see me and relaxed. I can tell she's gotten enough exercise on her walk so that any extra walk with me is just a bonus. We have been using Z Dog for our Bernese Mountain Dog, Luna, for nearly a year. We have used them for walks, daycare and overnight care. She adores Natalie and Jose, and cannot greet them quickly enough in the morning and they clearly love her back. Natalie and Jose have been great and very dependable for our puppy Animal. We have had them feed and walk him every weekday for almost 6 months now. The prices are very reasonable and we pay for 2 weeks at a time up front. The very few times that they were unable to walk Animal, they made sure that they had a reliable person come to take care of him so that we didn't have to worry about who would take care of him. They leave notes daily about how Animal is doing and are very passionate about how much they really enjoy taking care of him. Recently used Z Dog Walkers to care for our cat, Professor Bad@ss while we were away for 6 days. We never had to hire a cat sitter before, but since we are new to the area, we had to hire someone. Natalie came to our apartment at a time that was very convenient for us to meet our cat, discuss her care requirements, look over vet records, and to get our keys. Natalie is clearly very good with animals, and Professor came out to greet her and flopped right down for belly rubs. We paid the $20 administration fee in cash and wrote a check for the cat sitting services at our initial meeting, although full payment was not required upfront. Daily rates were in line with other cat sitters that we checked out online. We came home from our trip and Professor was happy and healthy. She definitely had a fun time with Natalie. I had to call Natalie from Florida because we needed a copy of our key back as soon as we got back to town and she left it in the apartment for us, just as we asked her to. Recently, I picked my dog up from daycare and Z dog walkers informed me that my dog didnt seem like himself that day. I took him home and his temperature was almost 106. I owe them my dog's life! I am reviewing my orientation meeting with Z Dog Walkers for dog walking and pet sitting services for my dog. In 2014, I contacted Z Dog Walkers and requested 2-4 weekly solo walks + weekend pet sitting for my rescue foxhound. My dog is a well behaved, quiet animal who walks well on lead and is very friendly with others at the dog park. I emphasized that my dog was from a rescue organization and is scared of sudden, loud noises (though what dog isn't?). Natalie came to my home for an orientation to meet my foxhound. In my opinion, the meeting went well. During orientation, Natalie logged me into her company's system, created a walking schedule, and then she requested a house key which I gave to her. I received an email from her 2 days later saying that Z Dog Walkers was not able to provide solo walks for my dog and they would return my key. They gave me other dog walking company recommendations, as I recall, which was nice of them. I was disappointed because I really liked their website and Natalie seemed like a real animal lover. What made me very upset with the service for Z Dog Walkers was that during orientation Natalie gave no indication that I was not yet an accepted client after taking all my information, creating a dog walking schedule, and requesting my keys. She did not state that after our meeting she needed to review her company schedule and my animal needs. If this was indicated to me, I would not have given her my house key. I found it unprofessional that a company would take house keys then deny service. Also, the email to me did not state when my house keys would be returned, which made me nervous. I had to call to follow up and my keys were returned the following day. I originally posted my review of this company on Yelp in 2014 but removed it upon request of my husband. The male owner at Z Dog Walkers called me in a very threatening manner stating that no dog walkers would service my animal in our neighborhood if I did not remove the Yelp review because it was a rather negative review and I did not use their services. However, I believe all perspective client interaction with any company is a valid indicator of company quality. When you receive a call from a man with a threatening message who previously had your house key, you change your locks and remove your Yelp review. I'm writing my review though again because its an HONEST review, and I no longer live in the neighborhood. read more

I met with Natalie for a consultation explicitly explaining how to handle my dog on a leash. She reassured me saying it will be no problem. So others are aware, Z Dog Walkers has multiple walkers come into your home, as opposed to one assigned walker. This can be stressful for some dogs. After two weeks, I received an email stating immediate termination of service. Little information was given in the email explaining what happened. My information was given to a third party (your privacy isn't protected in their contract), and after hearing from them, NOT Z Dog Walkers, I was upset to find out that my dog was put in a situation that I explicitly explained never to do. The third party described the walker as someone other than Natalie, and that it seemed the walker didn't know anything about my dog's history. Moreover, I found a picture of my dog on their Facebook page with his harness on wrong (which I clearly explained during my meeting with Natalie). After following up multiple times, I never received a call or email explaining the situation further and still don't even know who was walking my dog, I never even met them! And after repeated attempts with the only response, "We received your message, and will return your keys soon," I finally received my keys back DAYS later. DO NOT use Z Dog Walkers. They do not follow instructions, communicate with their staff, or have the courtesy to return your messages in a timely and detailed fashion. I believe my dog was put in an unsafe situation by Z Dog Walkers' carelessness in following their clients' instructions and general safety rules of walking dogs they should know as a dog walking business. read more
